Doctor's office
Almost in tears, Izzy is telling the doctor that the test results must be mistaken but the doctor confirming that the results stand. Izzy asks how long and the doc replies no more than 3 or 4 weeks and Izzy struggles not to cry.
Outside
Lyn tells Paul off for driving fast as they pull up in front of Grease Monkey's right where SMC is standing. She thinks he has stopped to see how his donation is working, which he momentarily has forgotten about, and when she fills him in on it; Lyn adds that it was a great thing to do.
Lyn goes to get them a coffee and SMC tells Paul that Lyn likes to see the best in him but is firmly told that she may have won this round but the battle isn't over!
No. 32
Max surprises Steph when she arrives home with flowers and when she notices that he has the champers on ice and has been cooking wonders if he's hit her bike with his car again! He replies no, he is just being nice to his gorgeous wife and that they haven't had much time together lately.
Steph goes to get some kisses from the other man in her life as Izzy tries to creep into the kitchen but is spotted by Max. Izzy tries to leave so she doesn't interrupt their romantic time together but they encourage her to join in because Max has made too much and they are both concerned when she refuses and Max enquires if she has been crying. She confirms that she has but puts it down to hay fever, which doesn't fool Max but he doesn't push it and instead offers her a glass of champers. Izzy wonders what the occasion is and when none is given, repeats what Steph thought earlier - that Max has hit Steph's bike again - before volunteering to take Charlie (who is still doing his Casper the ghost impression in his white babygro) to let them have some quality time together.
When Izzy and Charlie leave, Steph asks if Izzy is okay and Max replies that he doesn't know but whatever it is, she'll get through it...because she is bullet proof! Max's plans for a bit of personal romance before their food is struck down when Steph announces that she has to quickly pop over to see Susan. Before she leaves, she tells him that she quite likes this new Max and could totally get used to it.
No. 30
Ned has Toadie lifting weights but quits before he's done the number Ned set, calling him a slave driver. Ned likes this compliment because it will come in handy for his new job - a personal trainer, and tells Toadie about putting an ad in the paper offering his services and has a client already. Toadie winds him up that the businesswoman has only hired him because of his looks (Ned put his photo into the ad) even though Ned says that is what all personal trainers do. Ned doesn't appreciate Toadie's comments about his definition of a personal trainer and firmly reminds him that he isn't one of the previous HoT comedians who have lived there and if they are to remain friends, then Toadie will need to grow up! Toadie is a bit dumbstruck by what Ned has said and is further dumbstruck when Ned tells him that it is time to hang up the trousers! Well said Neddy boy on both counts!
No. 28
Steph gives Susan a Kusan house warming present - his and her bathrobes, which Susan is thrilled to receive and says it has been a long and winding road to get to where they are at present. Steph asks if she has any more clichés that may help her and Susan wonders if there is trouble at No. 32 but Steph replies that they've had their moments but it is all good now. Susan takes this as meaning Steph knows all about Max and Katya and the look on Steph's face when she mentions it tells us that Steph doesn't know but Steph plays it cool and plays along with what Susan is telling her.
No. 30
Toadie has taken what Ned said earlier to heart and surprises him by removing some of the HoT artefacts gathered around the house. Toad also adds that it includes being a better mate to him too and starts by apologising for the personal trainer jokes and offering him business advice when he needs it. Ned gets a call for his services on the mobile and while he takes the call, Toadie answers the door to Steph. She tries to talk to him seriously about 'guy things' but he tries to make a joke of it until he eventually realises that she is serious as Steph heads into the kitchen.
Scarlet Bar
Lyn tells Paul that the people suing them are very dodgy...and that she has set up a meeting to suggest that a court case isn't in their best interests! Paul is stunned by what Lyn has done and tells her that if she believes it will work then she is living in dreamland! Lyn asks for his suggestion and he replies that they should break into their offices to get some incriminating evidence and blackmail them! Lyn is astounded by this suggestion and Paul reminds her that people aren't nice and the only way to survive is to beat them at their own game and he isn't amused when Lyn mentions what happens if they get caught.
Paul throws some money onto the table for their drinks before walking out and Susan (who's just arrived) takes his place at the table wondering what she's just seen. Lyn doesn't say but Susan takes the chance to remind her to be careful because Paul plays games with people but Lyn quickly replies that she isn't letting him do that with her, she is trying to help him.
Izzy (and Charlie) have been watching all this unfold and comes over to tell Lyn not to let Paul drag her down because there will be no hope for either of them if that happens. Lyn tells Izzy not to be so dramatic but Izzy replies that she knows Paul and how they both used to egg each other on. She then adds that she can see the influence Lyn has had on Paul already...but for every step forward there are a hundred back. Lyn isn't exactly happy at hearing that and when Izzy and Charlie leave, tells Susan that Izzy has some nerve but Susan replies that Izzy may have a point, which Lyn dismisses because she thinks that Izzy is just up to something as usual.
No. 30
Steph isn't please when Toadie defends what Max has done as being the right thing but he also adds that Max isn't the cheating type. Steph begins to wonder why Max is cooking a big fancy meal in that case and Toadie says that guys treat relationship problems different from females. Steph is still annoyed at Max keeping secrets from her and is swithering as to whether something did happen and again, Toadie tells her that guys prefer sorting their problems alone rather than talking it over. He then tries to stop angry Steph from going home to confront Max by giving her tickets that he got for the footy from a client.
STEPH: What are you suggesting?
TOADIE: Well you and Max have got the best marriage I know, so you go ballistic at him and show him you don't trust him
STEPH: Or?
TOADIE: Or take him out and be happy that you're with someone who tries to do the right thing by you.
No. 22
Paul is surprised to see SMC at the doorstep but she wants to see Cam, so he lets her in then suddenly remembers that his son isn't at home. Just as she is about to leave, he mentions that Cam told him about her secret and asks that she isn't mad at him! SMC replies that she isn't mad at him and Paul gratefully tells her that he won't tell a soul and she adds back that Cam wouldn't betray her confidence because he is decent!
PAUL: I'll find out the truth eventually little sister, you can bank on that.
SMC taunts him to find out her secret because she'll have the satisfaction of knowing that she didn't give into his games.
PAUL: Forever the moralist eh? Who'd have thought that was such a turn on?
SISTER MARY CATHERINE: Paul, the bad guy act, I don't think even you believe it any more. If you think that bringing me down is going to make you happy, fine, but you are a better man than that and you know it.
No. 32
Max is a bit bemused when Izzy announces that she suddenly appreciates the simple things in like...like seeing him content with Steph and Charlie and wishes that she had it too. (Steph has now arrived home and is listening to them in the kitchen from the lobby).
MAX: What a mortgage and a maxed out credit card?
IZZY: A loving partner, a secure marriage... jealous.
MAX: Of me?
IZZY: Not any more, but Max I'm so happy for you, you truly deserve it.
MAX: Izzy, hey what is going on?
IZZY: (hugging Max) I love you Max.
Max replies that he knows that and Izzy breaks off the hug and walks out of the kitchen. Steph enters but doesn't say anything about what she has just heard and instead shows him the tickets Toadie gave her. Max turns down the chance to do corporate at the footy because it clashes with his Tibetan class with Katya. Steph wonders why he can't skip the class just this once and he replies that he made a promise to Katya and that it wouldn't be fair. Steph says that she is sure Toadie will be pleased to go with her since they were his tickets originally before Max announces that dinner is served.
Outside
Toadie drops Ned off at this posh house and a lady comes out and cuts short the call she is making...because her accountant has just arrived! Ned and Mrs Beaumont exchange pleasantries and she is taken a back at how tall Ned is, she imagined he'd be littler. Mrs Beaumont also lets it be known that she is alone in her house and loves Ned being masterful when she asks where they begin and he pours away the drink she has been consuming.
No. 26
Lyn finishes dressing with Oscar's help but quickly pulls on her dressing gown when Susan enters the house to collect the wee man (she is babysitting). Susan isn't fooled by Lyn's routine and wants to know what is going on, so Lyn removes her dressing gown to show off what she is wearing, a boilersuit, and the reason why she is wearing it - that Paul suggested that they break in to the enemies office to steal some files. Susan is completely stunned at what she has just heard and indeed has to take a seat.
SUSAN: You are willing to help Paul even if it means breaking the law?
LYN: It's not as if they are innocent people.
SUSAN: Oh listen to yourself.
LYN: What about Oscar? Come on, I have to secure his future.
SUSAN: Rubbish! There are a thousand ways to do that.
Susan then shouts to Oscar that it is time to go but not before telling Lyn that she needs to take a long hard look at herself.
Mrs Beaumont's house
Ned demonstrates for the third time to a watching Mrs B how to do sit up's and she is certainly admiring his technique or should that be physique! He suggests they try something else since she obviously isn't interested in doing sit up's and gladly goes to get herself a drink when Ned's phone starts to ring.
Scarlet Bar/Mrs Beaumont's house
It's Toadie on the phone, apologising again for his comments on Ned's new business and Ned says he's cool with it and tells him that things are going good with his new client and that she is really friendly. Toadie is pleased for his mate and hangs up to let him get back to work.
Mrs Beaumont comes back with another glass of something in her hand, ready to resume the workout and Ned goes about demonstrating some stretches to her and she seems to be eyeing up his rear end!
Scarlet Bar
Izzy surprises SMC when she tells her that she now sees why SMC gave up her old life as Carmella - fulfilment and making a difference in people's lives. "Something like that," replies SMC before wondering what has got into Izzy given what she is saying. Izzy says that better late than never, she has just realised what is important and that she never thought she'd find solace in someone devoted to religion like SMC especially after Rosie. SMC is happy stunned by this and wishes she heard this from more people.
Outside
Paul and Lyn have arrived at the office they are planning on braking into, in the disguise of cleaners. Lyn is having trouble pressing the code to let them in and Paul wonders what the hold up is before asking her if she still wants to go through with it. Lyn doesn't reply and instead goes to put the code in but again stops and tells him how ridiculous it is. Paul can't believe that Lyn wants to talk about it now and she tells him that she is worried about him because he is out of control. He simply tells her to punch in the bloody code and breaths a sigh of relief when Lyn starts to input the code but pushes the wrong last digit so that the alarm goes off.
LYN: Woops.
Scarlet Bar
Max is surprised to see Steph and Charlie arrive in the bar to see if Max is free for lunch. His mobile goes off and he quickly looks to see who is calling, telling Steph it is just a salesman. The phone rings and Steph checks the phone to see to called and isn't pleased to see it was Katya and decides it is time to talk it over with her husband.
STEPH: Alright Max, I've tried, I really have but I can't keep up the happy Steph act. You know she has feelings for you and you haven't said anything to me.
MAX: It was nothing to tell Steph.
STEPH: So why didn't you say anything and why are you lying about getting calls from her now?
Mrs Beaumont's house
Ned has finally got Mrs B something to do - a little bit of power walking, then announces that that is enough for today, which is a surprise to her because she thought they were just getting started. He informs her that they've been at it now for 3 hours and will have plenty of time to talk at their next session. Mrs B invites him to stay for morning tea because it will be fun!
Scarlet Bar
Max tells Steph that it was Katya who had the crush on him and that he poured water on it straight away. Steph wants to know why he didn't tell her and he explains it as wanting to save Katya the embarrassment of it all because she is just a scared kid and that there was no need to upset her. Max then apologises to her for Steph finding out about it from Susan and Izzy and laughs off Steph's suggestion that he is enjoying the attention Katya is giving him and adds that Katya is still calling him because they are friends.
STEPH: Come off it.
MAX: Come off what?
STEPH: What, you don't think that being friends is only going to encourage her feelings?
MAX: I made it very clear to her that I do not feel the same way.
STEPH: Well you are not acting like it. You are still going to these classes with her.
MAX: Steph, she just got out of a psych ward. I'm not going to abandon her in case...well in case it sets her off again.
STEPH: ...
MAX: Well, fine, what do you want me to do?
STEPH: I'll see you tonight and you can have today to figure it out, alright?
Steph then walks out of the pub office and Max's phone rings again - Katya is calling.
