Neddy talking to Karl about how this Justine is a kiddie band manager.
Lyn reassuring Steph that people love her scars or no scars.
Susan trying to convince Katya that it was Cameron that did these things... but she won't budge.
Justine is reading over songs when hello a singing shirtless Ned walks into the lounge room, a tinsy bit stunned at how she managed to get inside. He offers to go get dressed but she's more than happy for him to stand around the way he is. Justine explains she found the songs on the coffee table so he tells her they're what they are singing for the next gig. She isn't too impressed, they could probably use some stronger material. Ned says that they're their best songs, he and Karl agreed on the selection. Justine starts with how she knows that Karl isn't taking advantage of him... but never gets to finish because speak of the devil, Karl's here and surprised at Ned's nakedness. Ned says to him he thinks they should use the Choo Choo Song and Bat In A Cave again but Karl isn't too happy with that, using Lennon and McCartney & White and Jones as an example. No one know who White & Jones are because they were both fixated on personal glory so ego ruined them. Karl would like to follow Lennon & McCartney. Ned goes to get dressed.
Susan's finishing up her and Katya's teas when Zeke comes in with William the turtle. Susan tells him to take him back outside but Zeke doesn't want to. The enclosure is third rate and it has a lot of holes that he could escape through. Susan tells him that the backyard is perfectly secure he can't get too far. She gives him a project - make the third rate enclosure first rate. He dutifully heads off to start his task.
Susan hands Katya her tea, saying the thinks it might be best if she keeps her concerns about Cameron to herself for the time being. She thinks it would be too hard for Paul and Gail to hear it right now. Katya has been through a lot and maybe it's clouding her judgement a bit. Katya tells her that her judgement has never been better, she knows Cameron is innocent. Susan says it's hard to keep a clear perspective when her and Cameron were so close. She saw Roberts face, with it being so much like Cameron's that it brought it all back so she naturally associated him with a bad memory.
Outside Toadie is eating when Janae marches up wanting an RSVP. Toadie tells her that a) it's a late lunch and b) their wedding isn't for another 3 months. Janae says he better be coming. Toadie says he is and she should consider herself RSVPed. Janae asks about Kev and Angie. Toadie tells her that he hasn't heard a peep but they have to come, it's a family wedding after all. Toadie goes to answer his phone, asking if her family will ever leave him alone. It's Janelle!
Janae walks back to Boyd's table saying Toadie's coming but she had to get it out of him with a shoe horn, no one gives a stuff. Boyd thinks that everyone can't be excited about it as they are. Max drops off some mail to Boyd on his way to work. Boydy of course thinks that this is a reply but it isn't; it's junk mail. Boyd calls out to his dad that it's junk mail. Max tells him that he did want every piece of mail that was for him, oh did he want Max to screen it. Ah, yeah just like he screened their wedding invitation. Max smiles and says he got that. Janae asks if he's coming, Max replying that of course he is. Max smiles again before leaving which is just creepy.
Oh god, Ned and Karl singing! Karl is waving his head around like an idiot before they both start singing about witchedy wogs. Oh god kill me now. This guy, Marty, Justine has brought to listen to them is thinking the same, asking her for the time and realising he has to get to a meeting. He walks away saying he'll call them. Justine runs after him leaving Ned and Karl start fighting about how either Ned under played it or Karl overplayed it...
NED: Our energy levels are fine without you carrying on like a Price Is Right contestant.
Karl face tells me he wants to deck Ned. Justine comes back in the nick of time saying he loved them. She's convinced he'll be coming back with an offer. Ned goes to get some champagne. Karl asks if she thought Ned was a bit flat and she agrees, telling him that Marty did as well. He actually thinks that Karl has what it takes to break into the adult contemporary market. She says that Marty thinks he will be a big star, solo of course. Karl's all excited! Ned comes back with the champers interrupting Karl's happiness.
Steph's working away behind the bar when Max takes a photo of her, showing it to her and telling her that's the face of the Baby Belt. Who better to advertise it than the inventor. Steph isn't too keen, saying a supermodel can. Max starts kissing her saying she's sexy, beautiful... until Steph tells him to leave her alone.
STEPH: Max I know I'm not secy and beautiful and it really doesn't help me with you rubbing my nose in it all the time. No don't say anything! Just understand. Since the operation I don't feel comfortable parading my body around for the camera so it doesn't matter what you think! I'm the one that has to live with the scars.
Steph shuts herself in the office. Max mutters "struth".
Janelle's reminding Toadie of the time she rushed him to the hospital to get his stomach pumped (apparently she kept the kerosene in a lemonade bottle). Anyway she was crying in the waiting room, she could feel his pain. He asks if she can't feel it now. She begs for his help, they're giving her a $220, 000 fine and really needs it. Toadie gives her some useful advice - stop breaking the law. Janelle says it's Kim's business. Toadie tells her that she should suck up to his rich parents and then he'll do all the work she wants. Janelle doesn't want to suck up to them. Lyn comes into the room suggesting that maybe she should.
TOADIE: AH HA!
JANELLE: Oh come on Toad, we're blood.
TOADIE: Nah sorry. (he leaves)
JANELLE: I'd be grateful this time please! I love yoooooooou! Shmuch.
Boyd and Janae march in, Janae saying that Janelle has made her bed, Toadie wants nothing to do with her. Janelle asks what she wants. Janae replies that she's wondering if they got her wedding invitation. She has and it's on the fridge, Janelle shows this by standing next to the fridge like a Price Is Right contestant. And yes she is coming, she just doesn't have time to write our flowery RSVPs. Janae and Boyd are about to leave when Lyn says that she and Oscar will be going, they're really looking forward to it. Janae and Boyd thank her and leave.
Ooo naughty Zeke is letting the turtle walk around on the floor. He quickly puts a box over William when Susan comes inside. But NinjaSuze™ is onto him, asking what he's doing. Zeke says it's nothing but the moving box says something else. Suze thinks that either a poltergeist got in and did that or a turtle did. Ninja powers! Zeke tells her it's cold outside. Susan says he should let him hibernate. Do turtles do that? She asks him why he doesn't want William to be outside. He explains that it's his dad's birthday tomorrow and he really liked William, he practised all his lectures with him. Being with William makes Zeke feel closer to Alex and he knows it's dumb. Awww. Susan doesn't think that's dumb if that's the way he feels. Katya comes in the room in time to heard Susan make plans for the three of them to build William a luxury enclosure and tomorrow while he's settling into his new home they'll let Alex take them on a trip to all his favourite places. Katya thinks that's a great idea. The focus goes back to William.
SUSAN: He really does stink doesn't he?
Steph's explaining how Max was telling her she is beautiful and she just ran out. Lyn immediately asks if he's been treating her differently and avoiding her. Hmm Lyn it doesn't sound like it! Steph says that no it's all her. She's just been letting him think it's all that normal 'post baby' stuff. Lyn realises she means that she doesn't want Max to see her. Lyn tells her that Max doesn't care about a few scars. Steph knows, it's just her. Lyn gives her a hug while all hell breaks lose nearby. Janelle's on the phone to Kim's mum.
JANELLE: Because he's your son Loris, and you should be cleaning up your own mess. Is that right? Well I don't want your dirty stinking money! You can get knotted you stupid old bag!
Steph and Lyn start laughing, Steph saying that just when she thinks she's got problems she remembers who Lyn's living with.
Scarlet Bar - Night
Max gives Boyd their take away, saying it's on the house. Boyd slams some money down on the table and goes back to Janae. He tells her that he rang Summer before and she's really, really excited about the wedding. She's going to email Janae some wedding dress ideas. Janae thinks that's great, and with Lyn and Oscar that makes only three people that give a stuff.
Karl goes over to Justine's table. Justine says that Ned's in the loo and when he gets back she'll disappear so he can break the news. That's what Karl wanted to talk to her about, he doesn't want to leave Oodles of Noodles *groans*. Justine understands, he made a commitment and he will not break that despite any sort of personal gain or success he will have. Geez talk about hints. He agrees that he won't. Karl's about to leave when Ned pops up asking if they are still on for rehearsal. Karl replies that they are and walks off. Ned asks Justine if Karl's still "shirty" about the booking agent. Justine doesn't care because they have more important things to think about like which club they are going to and who's place they will be staying at. More hints!
Janelle's put Toadie's feet in one of those water foot spa things. Janelle calls this self esteem and it's her gift to him. He'll get one of those and a manicure once a month. Toadie asks about his back. She says she'll wax it, so is it a deal. Toadie tells her that if she wants to pamper her for nothing that's her choice. Janelle wouldn't call him representing her in court nothing. A lightbulb goes off.
JANELLE: You made me touch your dirty, stinkin', crusty feet for nothing?!
TOADIE: Yep! AH HA HA HA!
JANELLE: Right that's it. Prepare to be hit with the Janelle Timmins nee Rebecchi curse!
TOADIE: Yeah that really worked well on Joe Mangel didn't it?
Janelle leaves in a huff. Toadie starts dancing to Indian music. LOL! Katya just happens to walk in on this funny display. Toadie stops when he sees her, saying she shouldn't have saw that.
Max is going through paperwork in the office when Steph comes in and sits down, apologising. Max doesn't think she has to apologise, he's the insensitive one he should've known. He just wished she told him about this earlier.
STEPH: What? That I don't want you to see my body because it's covered in scars?
STEPH: Max please don't even say you didn't notice them.
MAX: No of course I noticed them Steph, of course I do but to me they're... they're a badge of honour. They remind me of everything you've been through. They remind me of what a brave, strong and beautiful woman you are and how lucky I am to have you.
He gives her kisses and a big hug. Aww!
Number 28 & Karl's dad's place
We're in dreamworld at Karl's dad, Tom's house. Karl's talking to his dad while Susan's watching on. Karl's yapping away and Susan walks up to them and calls Tom but he can't answer.
Susan wakes up, startled. Zeke walks over to her and asks who Tom is. She explains that it's Karl's dad he lives in the country. She gets up to ring Karl, she thinks something is wrong. Zeke tells her that it's only a dream and that Karl is out with Jenny anyway.
Ah dear. Katya and Toadie are dancing away. Katya thinks he could loosen his hips more. Toadie says that if he loosen his hips anymore will have an accident. They continue grooving along when Janae and Boyd sneak up in the hallway. Janae doesn't think that this sort of stuff is blog worthy but Boyd thinks it's gold. He is trying to crack onto a chick that is way out of his league. Finally Janae sees the potential.
Katya and Toadie are done, flacking on the couch. Katya wants to keep dancing but Toadie has had enough. He tells her that she can't dance the Robinson boys out of her mind. Katya says that it isn't them, it's actually her dad's birthday tomorrow. Toadie understand about how she feels, he's been through the birthday onslaught of emotions because of Dee. Katya knows, Susan told her.
TOADIE: It's about this time I start wondering how things would be different if we had more time together. What my life would've been like if Dee was in it.
KATYA: You know we have a lot more in common everyday.
General Store - Day
Janelle gives Toadie a Essendon Bombers footy top with James Hurd's signature on it. Toadie doesn't know what to say. Actually he does, thank you but he's still not representing her. Janelle tries to get the top back but he says a gift is a gift, and it will get a bit on eBay. Janelle marches out saying it isn't the last he's heard of her. Toadie calls out after her that maybe next time she could get a test match jumper preferably signed by Warnie. The Kinski family minus Rachel are all having a laugh at the antics.
SUSAN: How do you put up with it?
TOADIE: I've built up an immunity.
He asks how Katya pulled up, is she up for a bit of dancing after breakfast. No she's better and they're all looking forward to their dad's birthday. Zeke tells Toadie that they are going on a tour and Alex is their guide. Toadie says they better get a wriggle on, and notices that the signature on his Bombers top is actually Jane Hurd.
Karl's looking a bit worse for wear when he comes in. Susan asks if he's okay. He tells her that it's his dad. He got a call from the people next door to Tom's place, he had found his dad wandering the streets in his pyjamas. When Karl rang him he sounded muddled and Karl doesn't even think he knew who he was. It's dementia. He's been ringing for weeks, he should've known. Karl's going up there now to see him. Susan asks if Jenny is going. She isn't she had to go back to Canberra. He leaves. Poor Karl.
Hello! Justine's in a men's shirt, lying on the couch writing a kiddie song. A fully dressed Ned walks in saying good morning, but Justine thinks it was a good night. Erm... she only slept on the couch. Ned pulls up a chair saying he didn't know she wrote songs. She thinks she's rubbish but he thinks the lyrics are really good, it's something Noodles could do. He says that maybe she could jam with them sometime. She'd love to.
Boyd and Janae come in to announce that they are off to do wedding business. Janae explains that they are going to see a caterer that does their food in the shape of something weddinggy. Justine and Ned just do a small laugh so Janae decides to sit them at the 'I don't give a rats' table. Boyd and Janae go and stand outside on the doorstep.
BOYD: You know what? I don't think I even want us to say out vows in front of people that don't have faith in us.
JANAE: We're not calling it off!
BOYD: I'm not saying that. I love you and I want to marry you, I'm just wondering if there is any point in sharing it with anyone else.
Susan, Katya and Zeke are sitting outside. Susan seems a bit distracted so Katya says that maybe Susan should go with Karl. Zeke reminds them it's Alex's birthday and he's already done the itinerary. Katya saw how Karl was, they can't expect him to go into his father's house on his own and face whatever it is he has to face on his own. Zeke protests and Susan agrees, it's Alex's birthday.
KATYA: Zeke do you remember how good Karl was dad when he was sick? Well don't you think dad would want us to do everything for Karl and his family that we could? He would insist that Susan go wouldn't he?
ZEKE: I guess.
KATYA (to Susan): It's okay.
Karl get out of the car and walks up to the house. He says a hi to the dog and notices he's a bit thin. He turns around to see Susan pull up, he walks up to her and asks what she's doing there. Susan tells him that she didn't want him to face this on his own. He assures her he'll be fine but like she says it's too late, she's already there. She can see that his dad has let the place go a bit. Karl agrees and says it was only six months ago his dad was up on the roof fixing leaks. Karl doesn't want to go in, he doesn't want to see if anything has happened to him. Susan says he doesn't know and coaxes him to go inside with her.
