Number 26
Janelle's getting ready for her day in court; she's wearing grubby clothes. I mean trackies, pink t-shirt, and flannelette shirt. She still doesn't think it's right. Dylan gets off the phone and says that today better not be a disaster, the mob at Paradise Lakes reckons if they can't keep paying off the new house they won't get back their $10,000 deposit. Janelle tells him that the only thing that matter is keeping him out of jail while putting on a Collingwood beanie. Oh boo! She thinks that's better, it's bogan scrag loser like. Dylan isn't so sure but Janelle thinks the judge will be a Carlton man (boo). Dylan hates that she's doing this. She asks if he has had any luck in tracking down their dad (nope) so this is what she has to do.
Bree comes in with a red dress wanting her mum to get dressed. She starts to take Janelle's flannie off. Janelle protests saying she's ready, asking where Toadie is. Bree says that she took those clothes out of the rag bin. Janelle tells her it's appropriate, it's for keeping her brother out of jail. The judge is going to take one look at her and know she's as guilty as sin. Bree snarkily says even though she's lying through her teeth. Toadie knocks on the door and comes in, immediately saying that Janelle can't go dressed like that. She tells him that she dresses like that all the time. The kids assure him she isn't. Toadie asks Janelle what she has planned, then realises he doesn't want to know. They all head out.
Number 28
Susan and Karl are in a position that Kusan fans would like, she's showing up his kangaroo suit bum while Katya reads a mag in the background. Susan thinks Lyn would be much better at this than her, but Karl says that Lyn has ruined enough already by saying Ned looks great in his Oodles of Noodles skivvy. Susan asks if he wants to pull all the young mums... Karl thinks he pulls just as much as Ned *tries not to take that the wrong way*. Susan's sure he does, he's a very cute kangaroo. She's all done and admires her handiwork. Karl wishes this was done before the local photographer came to their gig the night before. Susan can't believe they're going to be in the paper again, Karl's turning into quite the media darling. Karl's hoping he doesn't look too chubby. Susan tells him it does make his bum look a bit big but after all he is a kangaroo. Katya goes to answer the door while Karl and Susan battle it out about who's taking it seriously.
Sgt. Steiger lets himself inside the fire wire door, he wants to ask Katya a few informal questions. Katya asks what about because she doesn't really think she can help him. He asks if Cam was her boyfriend. Of course he was, but as she says he isn't anymore so she can't help. St Steiger things thinks she could actually help a great deal.
Number 32
Steph is outside getting rid of the spider webs up on the eaves when Max comes out asking what she's doing. She gets off the chair telling him to shush or he'll wake Charlie, then says she's keeping busy. Max says to leave it to him he'll do it on his day off. Steph scoffs at that, pointing to the letterbox saying that it's been painting just like he promised last Christmas. Max offers to hire a gardener but Steph wants him to just leave it. Max realises she got up last night to clean the stove, and asks what's going on. He can tell something is going on, and if she wants to go back to work that's fine. She says she can't do it she'll miss him too much. Max again asks why she is so restless. She replies that she isn't restless and he should go to work.
Number 28
Sgt Steiger, Katya and Susan are all sitting around the dinging room table. The Sgt asks if the relationship Katya had with Cam was intimate. Susan says that's a bit personal. Steiger tells her it's very important that he gets a clear understanding of her association. Susan's sorry but she doesn't see how this is necessary. Steiger says that he could make this a formal interview down at the police station but then she wouldn't have the right to sit in on it. Katya answers that yes it was intimate. He asks if she was in love with him. Then moves on to ask about if he told her about planting bombs or anything. Katya gets on the defensive, asking how he could ask such a question she had no idea about the psycho stuff. Steiger asks if she knows a Sean Dempster, and she better not think about lying to him. She says that yes she knew him a very long time ago. Steiger says that was during the time she was known as Kathryn Sengmoi (that last name at least sounds like that!).
At this point in time Zeke comes in, asking what's happened. Susan tells him it's nothing they're just chatting to St Steiger. Steiger says hi to Zeke, hoping he's keeping out of trouble. What is it with cops and that silly joke? Zeke says yes officer then changes that last bit to senior St. He asks Susan what they are exactly talking about. Susan says it's nothing that concerns him and why doesn't he go outside again. He obeys leaving the adults to get back to it. Steiger asks if Katya had seen Sean recently. She replies that he was doing some business with Cam's father. Steiger goes on to say that Sean disappeared around three weeks ago and they have every reason to believe Katya and her ex-boyfriend may be linked to his possible death.
Number 26
Janelle and Dylan bolt into the house all happy. Dylan's sorry he got a bit toey before. Janelle acknowledges that he was a nervous nelly but they got it sorted all they got to do now is call the Paradise Lakes people and tell them they're back on board. Nothing is going to stop them from moving into their own home. Dylan hi-fives to that! Toadie asks why they are celebrating; she lost and got a $5,000 fine. BoganJanelle thinks it's just "chicken feed" it was worth every cent, she's still got her boy to give big mum hugs to. Dylan will never doubt her again. Toadie realises it was him, he did do it and Janelle took the fall. Not only did she lie to him but she stood up in court and committed perjury. She's about to give him an old Timmins saying when he interrupts asking what happened if she got caught, and that she could have him disbarred.
JANELLE: Never tell the truth when a lie avoids trouble, wise words.
TOADIE: That's just selfish. You know what your Timmins idea of morality just makes me sick! What kind of example are you setting for these kids?!
JANELLE: Ah oh sounds like another bad mother speech coming on!
TOADIE: Alright, here's a promise. Next time find some other sucker coz I will never ever defend another Timmins! (he leaves)
DYLAN: Wrong time of the month.
Janelle thinks it's just Rebecchi jealousy. Bree runs after Toadie and stops him at the door saying she's really sorry, she feels the same.
TOADIE: Bree you're a good kid, they're still hope for you. There's no hope for them.
She turns back to where Janelle and Dylan are all happy happy joy joy over how she scammed the court.
Number 28
Steiger is now asking if Katya confided in Cam about Sean. She nods and tells him Cam knew about her past and that he promised that Sean would never be able to hurt her anymore. She and Susan come to the realisation what that really meant. Steiger asks if Cam payed Sean a visit. Katya says she didn't know he never said that he did. Steiger doesn't quite believe that someone from her past disappears after he and her boyfriend have a quiet chat and she doesn't know about it.
KATYA (really upset): You don't understand. Cameron's the best liar I have ever met.
Lucky for her Susan has answered the door - it's Toadie. He asks Steiger what the hell he's doing here. Steiger actually just making a quick exit. He knows that it was hard for Katya and he appreciates her co-operation.
TOADIE: I'll see you in court.
STEIGER: I'll look forward to it.
TOADIE: Why is everyone all of a sudden flouting the law?
Katya explains that he thinks that she wanted Cam to murder someone for her. Toadie tell her it doesn't matter what he thinks, he's a cop and they're all fixated. Katya asks but what if that's what Cam thought she wanted, what if he killed for her.
Garage
Steph's walking along with bubs on the sidewalk when she reaches the garage and sees the mechanics working inside. She asks Charlie if he wants to take a look, and answer for him that he does. She takes him up to the car outside saying this is where she used to work with Stu. She shows him an engine, saying she can pull it apart and it just like the click of her fingers. He doesn't seem to care. Big boofy mechanic dude walks up saying no girlies sheilas are allowed in that area. Steph introduces Charlie to Edward Bear, better known as teddy bear. Teddy says he's pretty cute, must take after the old man. Steph laughs and asks what he's working on. He says he's actually just finished work on that car, and does she want to hear it? Yes of course but not too loud coz of Charlie. Teddy revs it a bit, Steph telling Charlie to listen to the most amazing sound in the world. In fact Charlie looks a bit frightened.
*reminisces about old Stuph days*
Scarlet Bar
Karl's having dad troubles. He's on the phone to his dad, well, trying to get off the phone to his dad. He finally does and Max asks if his dad is giving him a hard time. Yep he still sees Karl as the dutiful son, he wants him to go down to the farm and tell his next door neighbour to stop slamming his gate. He can't see why he doesn't do it himself. Max says that it isn't that easy when you're that long in the tooth but Karl tells him it's just his dad's silly pride and stubbornness. Karl answers the phone again thinking it's his dad, but in fact it's Jenny. She is not a happy camper over something and hangs up on him. Karl asks if Max has the latest paper... he does and it has KangarooKarl™ in it.
MAX: Noodles... you're my hero.
Hehe the article's title is 'Toddlers Hop Horror With Dr Rock'. Karl tells him Jen isn't pleased. Max asks if she's hoping mad. Karl pretends to laugh, and says that he does look fat in that suit.
Janelle comes in dragging her kidlets along and asking if Max likes their new duds. Dylan orders some bubbly, Janelle adding that it should be some of that cheap Aussie stuff none of the French. Max asks what the celebration is, Janelle replies that it's nothing special just a good day to be alive. She asks Bree to get the scowl off her face, it's time to party. Janelle tells the random women in the background to line up. Bree goes to stand on her own so Janelle asks her to get into the swing of things, she wouldn't even buy herself something nice. Janelle's paid her debt to society so what's the big deal? When Bree doesn't reply Janelle gives her a hug and tells her not to take things so seriously. She gets back to the party and Zeke comes up to Bree. She asks him to tell them when they're not looking because when they're not they are going.
Number 28
Toadie assures Katya she has nothing to worry about, if the cops had anything connecting her to the bloke's disappearance then Steiger would've had to take her down to the police station just to tell her. He was fishing, that's what they do. They throw in a line seeing if you'll take a bite. She feels like she swallowed it whole though. Toadie tells her that she reacted with totally honesty, and Steiger's no fool. He knew he was on the wrong boat that's why he didn't argue when he showed up. Susan thinks he practically ran out the door, he was amazing. Katya agrees he was like a knight in shining armour. Toadie says he wasn't, he was just doing the thing between cops and lawyers. Susan says he did his part very well, Katya adding he was very cool and commanding. She thanks him for coming to her rescue. Katya's sorry but she can't help thinking about what she might have caused. Toadie assures her that whatever happened it wasn't her fault, she had no idea Cam was a homicidal nutbag so blaming herself isn't reasonable. She tells him that he's being such a good friend and she doesn't deserve it. He says she does, she should stop being so hard on herself. Toadie suggests to Katya that maybe they should get out of there, have a picnic somewhere.
Susan answers the door to find Stephie with bubs and a new invention. It's a pepper grinder with a built in torch. Erm... She it won't look like what she has now it's just a prototype. Susan takes her to the kitchen, saying she gets the idea... it's for when you have a dark dinner. Steph thinks that's exactly right, and gives her a demonstration.
Back with Katya and Toadie, he once again asks her about his plan. Katya can think of anything better than a picnic with a friend.
Number 26
Bree comes out of her room with a small piece of paper and tells Zeke they're going to Lassiters; they're going to hitch a ride with someone. He asks where and she replies with an address, it's where her real family lives. Zeke asks her how she knows she won't chicken out like last time. She says that this time she doesn't have parents she respects, her dad's a criminal and her mum thinks it's funny to break the law so she wants new ones. And they can't be any worse.
Scarlet Bar
Susan and Steph walk in talking about her PepperTorch™. Steph admits it isn't the best idea. Susan thinks that's a shame because she's thought of a name, Grinding Light. Karl waves at Susan to come over and shows her the picture in the newspaper. The first thing she comments on is that his bum does look big. He asks if it looks ridiculous. She says the kids loved him so what does it matter. Karl tells her that Jenny isn't too happy with him. It might be a voter turn off. Susan's sorry but she thinks that Jenny should just lighten up and get over it.
Over at the happy Timmins camp they're pouring out more bubbly and have a bit of a laugh when the see Toadie walk in. Janelle calls him over and asks if he can see how civilised they're being, they law is there to protect them and they'll never be guilty of it's flagrant disregard. Toadie tells her that was very eloquent of her but he doesn't believe her. They start laughing when he walks off.
Steph runs up to Max and starts by saying she's been thinking about what he said, she is a bit lost without direction. She doesn't want to go back to work... she doesn't know what she wants to do yet. She just needs something. Max is a bit busy so he tells her to talk to him when she knows what it is. Oh poor Steph she wanted to keep talking.
Lassiters Complex
Bree and Zeke are sitting outside near the carpark waiting for someone to hitch a ride with. Bree spots Karl and thinks he'll give them a ride. Zeke makes sure she is willing to go through with this, because his dad always said never make decisions when you're angry. They follow Karl, Bree asking if he would do them a favour and give them a ride to the other side of town; it's really important. Karl says no he's got to get home. Bree uses a good ol' guilt trip by saying they'll just hitchhike with some stranger, and do kids her age get into trouble? Karl finally agrees, he just has to shift some boxes in the backseat.
Down by the Lassiters lake Katya and Toadie are on their picnic. Toadie shows her all the yummies he brought along. She thinks it's great, he's gone to so much trouble. This is just what she needed. The toast to finding new friends. Toadie then gets out some strawberries. But not just strawberries, also cream... in a can! Katya says he's a very strange man which he agrees too. Katya's about to put some of the canned cream onto a strawberry when Toadie tells her no, there is an art to it. He puts the strawberry in his mouth and pours cream into his mouth too (oh sickly!). Katya changes her thought on him to completely bizarre, grabbing a strawberry and putting it in her mouth. Toadie pours some of the cream in her mouth, methinks he accidentally pours too much in. They have a bit of a giggle.
Back at the car park Karl's on the phone to his dad about the next door neighbour again while trying to get the box of paperwork out of the car. He puts it on the boot of the car and goes to get a small crate of paperwork in there too. Bree complains that they aren't getting any younger. Karl ends the call with his dad while trying to get the crate onto the boot as well. He asks Zeke to get the phone to end the call, but ends up knocking the box over that lands near Zeke's foot but he's in pain and when Karl leans down to help Zeke the crate falls on his back.
Back at the lake... Katya and Toadie have finished their bottle of wine and food. She thinks a speech is in order. Toadie starts with God Save The Queen but Katya shuts him up, saying that not only has he rescued her today... Toadie interrupts saying he's going to blush. Katya wants to talk about her for one second so hush Toadie. Lately she's been a complete bore and now that she feels safe and relaxed she wants to thank him for making her feel again. Toadie asks if they can talk about him now. Katya laughing telling him she loves how he's a crazy Toad one minute and cool passionate lawyer the next. He asks her if she wants to hear him bongo his tummy. Erm... no she'd rather say he's a good person and have a bit of a pash.
After the break they stop, Toadie tries to go back in for seconds but Katya doesn't want to, calling herself an idiot. Toadie doesn't think she is, saying it was great and wanting to have another crack. Katya says that one minute they're talking about being friends and next they're kissing... she is still having nightmares about Cam. Toadie tells her he doesn't care that he's on the rebound (about right he hasn't had a girlfriend in over a year). She says no she's been with enough sleazy guys and he's not one of them, she's not like that and she's sorry. She wants to pretend this never happened. Poor heartbroken Toadie agrees they can.
Number 28
Katya's now talking to Susan about what happened. It felt like the perfect moment and then she realised what she was doing and Toadie's her friend and she isn't ready, she doesn't even know what she wants right now. Susan asks if Toadie understood that. Katya says she didn't tell him that, it would've hurt him. So she made up some stupid reason that she didn't want him to be on the rebound. Susan thinks that's the same thing. Katya now thinks she's put Toadie off for life even as a friend. Susan doubts that very much, looking at her text message from Bree about them being at the hospital and Zeke being crippled.
Hospital
In a room Zeke's got a cast on his right leg. Bree asks him how he feels, and coz he feels okay maybe they could sneak out and still go and try and find her family. He agrees so she tries to help him up but he's in too much pain. Zeke's still determined but Bree says it's fine she doesn't want to turn him into a cripple. He apologises but she says it's alright, finding her parents will have to wait.
In the hallway Karl's trying to explain what happened but Susan cuts in saying how dare he. First of all he injures Zeke then he doesn't even bother to call her, he leaves it up to Bree. Why would he assume any sort of responsibility for Zeke. He's her stepson, not his. So could he please stop behaving as thought he's Zeke's father. Ooo go Suze!
