Recap
- Rob about to tell Coma Cam his plans.
- Karl telling CamRob he's made a good first impression.
- Paul fuming that health and safety are going to come down on the General Store like a ton of bricks.
Ramsay Street
CamRob has been mowing Harold's back lawn and offers to do the front, too, as he always helps the oldies down his way. As if to prove a point, Harold climbs onto the motorbike that he's polishing, and says no thanks - he likes to do his own gardening. Harold gives CamRob a look; cue spooky violin music.
Number 22
Izzy is all enthusiastic on the phone, telling the Chipmunk that she can't wait to see him soon. Paul comes in, all jealous and limpy, and demands to know who she was talking too. Isabelle confesses that she's been seeing someone, a real estate agent called Craig, and she's his favourite buyer! She throws up (not literally) a picture of a property for auction in the country. A mountain holiday house.
Paul thinks it looks nice, but Miss Goldilocks strops over to the sink, and says that Izzy's just sucking up to him, and playing them all for suckers.
Paul defends her - after all, Isabelle would have to spend more than $400K on the house. And, yeah, about that...
IZZY: I was thinking we could go halves.
Izzy also reminds Elle that she loves ski-ing and could use the house anytime she likes, but Elle doesn't want a part of it.
PAUL: The point is that we're all game players and we like to win. But we're also a family. We put the 'func' in 'dysfunctional.'
Katya's flat
Katya comes into her lounge and finds the kids asleep on the sofas. It's after ten and they're supposed to be at school. They watched the whole series of something in one night.
Rachel and Zeke don't see the point of going to school - the worst they'll get is a note from the teacher who will only blame the parents. And that's a good point - does Katya go to bed before them and get up after them and expect them just to go to school alone? She was SO quick to criticise when Susan didn't watch them 24 hours a day, she was livid when Rachel left the house without Susan knowing, and was furious to find that they were allowed to watch movies......and yet here she is not even checking to see them off to school?
She needs a slap. But that doesn't happen, so she pulls the quilts off the kids and tells them to get a move on.
The General Store
Elle comes into The General Store and sees Dylan who has been cleaning. Katya brings the kids in for breakfast. It's already past ten and she didn't just give them some fruit and pack them off?! ARGH! Katya spies Stingray by the fridge and invites him over for DVDs later, but he can't - he has to do some scene analysis by Friday.
Rachel offers to help him with his uni work.
Paul comes in and Dylan asks if he'd like a coffee. Elle confesses that Dylan has been up since 4am delivering leaflets to promote the business, and she was asleep. He's also done some damage control to those who got sick the other week - offering them a free meal to them and their family. CamRob eyes up Dylan suspiciously.
Number 22
CamRob flicks through some photos of Paul, Isabelle and Elle, and picks out the one photo with Dylan in it.
Erinsborough High
Katya is rushing the kids in, and asks if they have to tell someone they're late. They've never been late before so they have no idea.
ZEKE: This is our classroom.
Well, yes, it's the *only* classroom.
KATYA: ...Susan! Hi! Just dropping the kids off a bit late I'm afraid. Sorry.
Susan comments that the kids look awful - are they coming down with something? Should they be here? Erm yes, just a sniffle, and yes, definitely. She asks Katya to call her next time and let her know.
KATYA: Well, go and learn, and carve your names into the desks. Or whatever it is you do.
The kids wander off and Katya thanks Susan for all her help - they're all really happy now. Except Susan.
Number 22
CamRob has carved Dylan out of the picture.
He picks the photo up and Dylan is left behind on an advert for mobile phone tunes that one can call and have downloaded to one's mobile phone.
CamRob tilts his head to his left and looks weird. Weirder.
The General Store
Elle apologises for missing the leaflet drop, but Dylan forgives her - she has family stuff going on. Elle says that CamRob is still the Golden Robinson, and he's changed. He's quieter. THAT'S BECAUSE HE'S ROBERT YOU STUPID GIRL! You know, the other brother you've spent your ENTIRE life with.
Dylan asks Elle if she thinks that CamRob wants in on the business, but Elle denies it - CamRob wants to be a nurse. They get onto the subject of Sky, and Elle tells him to spend more time with her, but he says she's always off with the arty-farty teacher of hers.
Isabelle swans in asks if Dylan has seen Stingray - he's late for his shift. Erm, Scotty? The one sitting over the other side of the store? No, no, he hasn't seen him, he's probably studying. Isabelle calls Stingray who answers his phone and talks real quiet in the hope he won't be noticed; he tells Izzy he's stuck in traffic, but she spots him and tells him to go to work.
Scott asks his brother why everyone thinks he's a kid.
DYLAN: Well, it wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that your girlfriend's, like, twelve?
SCOTT: She's fourteen! Alright? And she's not my girlfriend.
DYLAN: Chill, alright? She's cute. She's jailbait, but cute.
Scott thinks Rachel's smart, not just cute, and he digs her. He really does. Dylan offers him a lollipop before he goes.
The Scarlet Bar
Paul asks Stingray if he's always had that nickname, and doesn't it put people off? Apparently not. Cute line, if not a little forced.
Paul hands him a new mix drink, and asks him to test it, but Scott doesn't really do drinking. Paul tells him to take it home - he can't sell it if he hasn't tried it. He puts it in his bag to take it home.
Paul returns to the back room and hands Isabelle flowers to see her smile. He's been so hung on waiting for her to tell him she loves him, but he realises now that she doesn't need to. Yeah - cos it ain't going to happen. He knows that she shows her love by just being there everyday, so she must be in love with him.
Isabelle does that face where she doesn't really want to admit the truth, because it's kinda fun to go along with the premise, scrunching up her chin and gasping a laugh.
Paul kisses her.
Erinsborough High School
Susan is teaching science, now, apparently. She and Karl are real multi-taskers. She asks Rachel the name of another Greenhouse Gas other than CO2. Rachel wasn't listening, and repeats CO2. Her classmates laugh when she doesn't know any others. She says she couldn't be bothered with any homework last night. Susan tells her they'll discuss it after class.
Susan lists other gasses. Ooooh, this is fun. I did A-level Chemistry. Methane (that's CH4, by the way) Nitric Oxide (that's NO)...and Zeke is asleep on his desk. His mate nudges him to wake him up and I think he wakes and says 'Geese' but it's hard to tell.
Susan looks confused.
Erinsborough Hospital
Harold is visiting patients at hospital, and runs into CamRob who didn't know that Harold was a salvo. He tries to hand some money to Harold for the cause, but he's not collecting today. Harold wanders off and Elle appears as if by magic - she's selling sandwiches at the hospital. She asks how many girls' numbers he's taken already, and he says none - although one girl has caught his eye - Katya! What a perfect match. Oh, Evil? Meet Evil.
Elle thinks that Katya is gorgeous, and CamRob could never resist a challenge, after all...
Cut to later when Elle runs into CamRob again by the nurses station and asks how it went with Katya. It hasn't, yet, but Katya appears also as if by magic, and CamRob approaches her as Elle watches on.
CamRob introduces himself and tells her he's starting work here as an orderly. She hopes he'll enjoy it. He comments that he's thinking of training as a nurse, and Katya says she really enjoys her job, apart from the conditions and pay - like teachers and childcare workers! But helping people has it's own rewards.
He thinks he may have charmed her a little.
The General Store where...
...Elle returns to the shop floor and Dylan asks her if she borrowed money from the till. She did, but they're still down by $200, and have to tell Paul as he walks through the door. Paul thinks someone must have taken it, and takes $200 of his own money to put in the till. Dylan doesn't want it - he admits he must have stuffed up, and is sorry he keeps letting Paul down.
Paul tells him that mistakes are how you learn, and it's easier to replace it than trying to balance the books.
Erinsborough High
Susan asks the Kinski kids what's up with them and they admit to staying up all night watching Star Wars DVDs and eating junk food. Rachel apologises for being rude, and Zeke says he was so tired. Susan tells them they have to work together, and get it together.
The kids ask her not to tell Katya - she didn't know, and this was their mistake.
Erinsborough Hospital
CamRob pacifies a worried father who is stressed about his little girl. Katya compliments him on his approach - she think he'd make a great nurse. He asks her if she'd like to have dinner tonight, and hands her his number. She says she'll call if she can make it.
Katya's flat
Rachel and Zeke arrive home, and Zeke runs off again to see Bree. Rachel invites Scott into her room to show him something. More than one thing, actually. She shows him three books she's taken from the library about film direction.
However, all Stingray can look at is the fact that her room is *filled* with soft fluffy toys and pictures on the wall of cartoons and unicorns and cute pink things. He suddenly realises that she is young, maybe too young for him and makes his excuses and leaves. He grabs his bag from the chair on his way out......and the mixer drink he was supposed to take home accidentally falls out...
The Scarlet Bar
Paul and Isabelle chat about Dylan and Elle - are they involved?!
IZZY: I thought you wanted a dynasty!
PAUL: I want a family. With you in the lead role.
Paul tells her again that he knows she loves him. Yeah, you see - the fact that you keep having to say that says that you don't know it at all. Izzy admits to being moderately fond of him. They kiss and CamRob walks in. He needs a favour - he doesn't get paid til next week and can he please have some money as a loan?
He wanders into the main bar area where Susan and Harold are chatting, and tells Susan he'll come over and put some of that mulch on her roses for her. Erm - thanks?
CamRob goes and Harold asks Susan what she's going to say to Katya? Susan doesn't know, but she's pleased that Katya wants to talk to her about things. Harold wonders if she's realised that raising kids is much more difficult than she first imagined - but will Katya take criticism from Susan? Susan says she'll be diplomatic and as supportive as she can.
Number 22
Isabelle is still on about the mountain house, but Paul can't see himself ski-ing, somehow.
ISABELLE: Yeah! Can you imagine when you have your first topple over, and your leg comes flying off with your ski?
PAUL: Ha-di-ha ha. Laugh at the lame why don't you?
ELLE: Sorry, dad, but that would be way funny.
ISABELLE: Yeah, and have you seen those disabled ski-ers? Most of them can go faster than I can and do I get a free park?
Paul tells Dylan to knock off work (Dylan is fiddling with Paul's laptop on a spreadsheet), and then asks CamRob if he's heard from Katya. Paul invites Dylan to stay for dinner - he can ask Sky. And he promises not to do one pro-globalisation speech!
Dylan says he'll ask, but Izzy knows there's no way Sky'll come over. CamRob asks about the missing money, then asks to talk to his Paul for a moment.
Cut to The Scarlet Bar where Katya tells Susan that she knows her background, and Susan knows she has every reason to be wary of men...
Cut to No 22 where CamRob suggests Dylan may have pinched the money...
Cut to The Scarlet Bar where Katya tells Susan she needs to know if CamRob is sincere...
Cut to No 22 where Paul tells CamRob he trusts Dylan with his life - and has on two separate occasions. Betrayal by Dylan would be unthinkable...
Cut to The Scarlet Bar where Susan says she's only ever seen CamRob been kind and helpful. So Katya has a date, then. She and Susan laugh together. Surreal.
Line of the episode:
ISABELLE: Yeah, and have you seen those disabled ski-ers? Most of them can go faster than I can and do I get a free park?
Best performance of the episode:
I think it has to go to Nat Bass for this one...her comedy scenes at the end were fab!
Best 'Rock On' moment:
DYLAN: Chill, alright? She's cute. She's jailbait, but cute.
The scene that TPTB forgot to include:
The one where Susan remembered who planted her roses at number 28...
