Recap
Elle telling Paul she is moving to Tasmania
Dylan getting approval for his hotdog cart
Izzy admitting her "genie in a bottle feelings" for Ned
Scarlet Bar Office
Ned does not believe Izzy's love confession, but she admits she was only fooling herself! It's too late...he is with Elle now. She does know that, but just couldn't let him walk away without unleashing her true feelings. Putting on a vulnerable-esq face, she doesn't expect anything. She is sorry, but just wanted him to know.
Walking out, she grins. Hehehehehe!
Bishops'
Out back by the pool Sky contemplates doing the play that night. She feels just a tad uneasy and can't see how people do this for a living! Elle is firm in the acting ability Sky possesses. She does also wonder how Ned is feeling right now... Tassie comes up, and Elle can't wait to leave. Despite having her dad up here, she has to put herself first. His attempts at breaking the two up have failed.
Scarlet Bar
Meanwhile Neddy is doing some serious thinking in the bar. Where Izzy works. Go figure. He asks his brother's opinion about Tasmania. Stu asks if he is having second thoughts which causes Ned to be defensive. He'd never bail Elle! He loves her. He is just however considering his options. Nearby Izzy looks rather smug with herself.
Outside Scarlet Bar
Dylan serves his dad his a DylDog. Mmmm. Max approaches and demands he move the cart however Dylan points out Izzy (over there) said it would be ok. Izzy agrees because she didn't see the harm. Kim pipes up someone is a bit cranky. Max doesn't care, and orders Dylan away and Kim to go inside. Kim slyly tells Dylan to move a few feet off the property.
The General Store
GINO: And holt, holt, turn two three, sashay, sashay and angry face, angry face!
... complete with hand gestures and hopping about, Gino demonstrates to Sky and Elle the brand new spanking dance techniques for the show. Karl looks almost horrified (and I don't just mean the MATCHING golf vest that Ned had), watching from behind. It is a world of NO for Sky, and points out IT IS OPENING NIGHT! A minor detail, according to Gino. He points out the work Bob Fosse (FYI - "As a choreographer Fosse changed the course of Broadway musicals with his distinctively slinky, sexy style of dancing"). He once again busts some moves they should consider.
GINO: And prance, and prance, and drop and ahhh!!!...
That 'ahhh' is Gino dropping to the ground after trying to do a backward somersault (well he was leaning backwards...). He is quickly rescued by Dr Kennedy. However Gino knows it's his disc slipping out, as it happened many years ago. In fact, it stopped him from joining the Australian Ballet! He begs Karl for a shot, as he flat out refuses to go to the hospital. No shot...well! Gino pleads with Karl to be his personal physician, and should he comply, "River of the Soul" will be included into the show. Can Karl really be bought that easily?
Scarlet Bar
Kim is telling a joke to 2 customers much to Max's displeasure. He calls him over and wants him to do some proper work. Kim insists he is, that by entertaining the two guys they will purchase more drinks. Max also insist he do some proper work like shelving stock...too bad, Kim has already walked away to finish his joke. Uh oh, Max not happy.
Community Hall - Play Rerhersals
Gino directs the play whilst down on his stomach and with Karl telling him to relax and let the pain just ooze away. He should think back to his childhood when he was really happy. Cue to odd twinkling music and Gino suddenly snaps into a HERE KITTY KITTY daydream (eyes all wide and everything).
He won't snap out of it and Karl muses he is relaxed! As if something has possessed him, he orders ACTION to the cast.
SKY: (in rap mode and the others jigging away) Ned can't you see your true love is me, your one destiny!
CUT! No, that was not Gino. It was Karl. As if he suddenly knows what is best, he asks Sky to come in from another side and more OOMPH from Ned's song. He orders everyone to take it from Ned's entrance.
Elle approaches and notices that Ned is quite the distracted one. If it's about the kissing - she is totally cool with it! She is soooo excited about them.
Scarlet Bar
Max hands a baby he was holding back to its mother. Kim notices his content expression and comments kids are great, especially when they are newborn. He follows Max into the office and begins going on about babies... he wants to just have a chat because he has noticed how odd Max has been. Meanwhile, Max just wants him to get back to work...however takes the beer Kim offers and they sit.
Lassiters
Sky airs her concerns about the new song to Karl (she is also walking very tentatively as it appears to be raining and she is sporting a short skirt and heels!) as it's very last minute. Karl brushes her concerns off, as Sky is probably just nervous! Besides, the song was part of the deal with Gino. It is staying. Dylan runs in to hear the news, and he grins that it's great. Karl offers some advice - just go with the emotion of the song... ("What? Throw up?" retorts Sky)
Izzy gives them some champagne for the afterparty, courtesy of the bar. Neat!
Clearing off some tables, she notices lonesome Ned by the rotunda. They make eyes. Well that is until Elle greets Ned.
Rotunda
Once again, Elle notices how odd Ned is being and wants to know what she has done wrong. Ned finally admits he is having second thoughts about Tasmania. Oh. Elle is confused, but then realises it's just Ned's old insecurities creeping in. He is? He somewhat agrees. Well, that doesn't matter because Elle loves him and won't be with anyone else. Okay?! ... Ok. They hug, and we see Izzy looking oh-so sad...
Scarlet Bar Office
Max looks almost bored with Kim's continual family advice. He thinks they should go back to work but Kim doesn't. He doesn't get what is wrong? Is this how he talks to a mate? Unfortunately for Kim, he is the worker and Max is the manager. Kim doesn't take this well, and huffs off. Outside at the bar he serves Stu and makes a snide comment about "Master Max" and being king of the castle. Unbeknownst to him, Max overhears every word and once again does not look impressed.
Community Hall - Play Rehearsals
"Soooooooooul!" and Ned finishes off the song. Karl is ecstatic! Who cares if Ned forgot half the words, it was just brilliant. Sky cannot believe the sheer madness. The song does not fit, as it is about a love triangle. Karl agrees...then comes up with the brilliant plan of adding in a new character! It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Sky sighs and tries to wake up Gino, but his mind is still...well, somewhere.
Karl has it all figured out on who the new character shall be - an ex of Ned's to anger Mel! Ned states he needs some time to learn the words. Sky isn't so happy about this, as once again THEY OPEN TONIGHT! Dylan pokes his head in and suggests Sky just simply done a wig, and voila! Instant character. Of course Karl loves this idea but Sky just gives them both looks of distaste.
Number 30 Garage
Ned (with fluffy Bob) is learning the words to the new song when Stu comes in. They talk about Tassie and Ned confesses he wants to break up with Elle. Gobsmacked, Stu offers some words of advice. She is hot! Well then why is Ned having feelings for Izzy? He recalls their encounter and how much "Izzy wants him"
Moving outside, Stu doesn't blame Ned for being confused. An attractive woman throwing herself at him? Of course it's cause for confusion. He just wants to know what game Izzy is playing. She must have an agenda. Ned isn't so sure...but Stu points out a few months ago when he was throwing himself at her. Where were her feelings then? Ned says it was because of Paul...but Stu disagrees and suggests it is about Elle. Anywho, they shall have a kick of the footy.
Ramsay Street
Dylan says she'd look great in a wig but Sky doesn't care.
Spotting the brothers, they chat about the play and she moans Karl is an egomaniac! They joke he'd want to be in the play. Sky makes a face at the horrid idea because it'd mean she'd have to kiss Dr Karl.
Stu kicks the ball high and Ned goes to catch it. Slow-mo-shot while he runs for it, and spots Izzy driving up. Not seeing the curb, he goes down hard on his ankle. AHHHH!
Community Hall
Sky fills Gino in about Ned's lack of mobility. The director doesn't care because the show MUST go on. Well, Dylan can't do it so of course he turns his head to...the good doctor. Karl laughs, and jokes he must be too old. Sky enthusiastically agrees with this assessment. Nonsense as that is what makeup is for. Well...okay, he shall assume the identity of Ned! (that didn't take Karl long to agree...) Sky tries to talk Gino out of it but it's too late as Gino is back off in his magical world.
Karl won't cancel as it'd let the guy down! He walks off and Sky realises what this mean. She will have to kiss Karl.
Community Hall - OPENING NIGHT! - Backstage
OOOH! ANGRY WAYNE WILL BE BACK! Mwahahah! And with a puff of smoke, AngryWayne disappears. Of course, AngryWayne is also dressed like a magician with a huge cap and top hat. Gino is still in "here kitty kitty" land but Dylan shows his dad the neat trick. +click+ Gino is back. +click+ Gino is talking about the after party at Studio54... Kim tells his son how impressed he was (whilst Karl starts his number...) which makes Dylan happy. However he nudges his dad off to work, as he'd better really get to it.
Community Hall - OPENING NIGHT! - Onstage
Karl sings "River of the Soul" accompanied by his own guitar playing, and cowboy hat. Sky happily bops away, whilst Elle makes a beautiful gumtree. Makes sense, especially when AngryWayne has a top hat.
"The river of the soul...like the river of dreams. Trying lap on every bend. A broken heart will mend. Mmmm! Oh woo hooooooo!"
This gets an enthusiastic round of applause from the audience. Now, the final kiss...
SKY: Oh Ned!
KARL: Mel.
SKY: Ned...
KARL: Mel!
SKY: Ned!
KARL: Yes Mel.
(Sky backs off a little and runs into Dylan)
DYLAN: Just go the pash and make it a quickie.
SKY: Um. All I wanna do is...ki...
KARL: Yes?
SKY: All I wanna do is...
KARL: Yes?!
SKY: All I wanna do is cuddle you, like you've never been cuddled before!!!
KARL: Then do it girl, do it.
She gives him a huge cuddle and Dylan looks VERY disappointed with the lack of kissage.
Scarlet Bar
Kim arrives back and laughs to Max that his son has some real talent! However Max is not pleased at all for Kim taking off for half an hour without letting anyone know. Kim takes offence for even able to see his own song, but Max retorts he is trying to run a business! Kim fires back he thought this was a slave labour camp...that is it. Kim is fired!
