Dylan moaning at Kim for the combi van going missing along with the $2k Paul gave him.
Janae reading Mike's file and then telling Boyd it's over.
Boyd runs after Janae trying to make her see reason but she is having none of it. To Boyd's horror she tells him that Mike is perfect for her and to leave her alone.
Kim arrives for work and checks in with Max just as he is putting his sleeping bag away. Kim asks if Max is in the dog house since he is sleeping at work but Max just says things are a bit touch and go at home.
Boyd arrives at the bar (Max asked him to call) and Max hands over a letter about his Uni application and after opening it, is thrilled to find out he'll be studying medicine at Edin Hills Uni. Max is stoked for his boy and hugs a shocked Boyd and Kim offers his congratulations too. Kim also tells Boyd to make the most of his remaining time with Janae before going to Uni. Boyd asks Max to let the family know because he's off to see Janae.
Bree is still trying to take the ideal photo of Janelle but she thinks her mum is too dressed up for it and doesn't reflect the author that the book pertains. Janae arrives home and Janelle asks her for her opinion and she says she looks okay but isn't exactly enthusiastic as she heads into the kitchen.
Boyd arrives and Janelle points him in the direction of the kitchen but Janae runs out the back before he can talk to her. Boyd comes back into the livingroom and asks Bree if he can have a word. The two of them head outside the front door to get some privacy and Boyd says that Janae dumped him and can she answer a question truthfully – has Janae been seeing Mike? Bree says no, that Mike meant nothing to her, and wants to know what is going on but Boyd heads off before saying anything.
The General Store
Toadie moans to Connor about a negligence case he is working on (client being hit by a work cover claim by a lazy employee) and wishes he could get a break on it. Toadie thinks the injuries are bogus but it is hard to prove. Connor suggests hiring a private detective but Toadie replies he can't afford it, so Connor suggests that he does it himself. Good idea but no can do because the guy has already seen Toadie, so Toadie gets Connor to confirm that he's just about finished working for the day. Me thinks Toadie has a plan.
Road outside Grease Monkey's with the Erinsborough's only public phone
Janae hears some random extras laughing away outside Grease Monkey's and gets upset. She goes into the conveniently placed phone booth and breaks down crying. She sees a flyer for a Kids helpline with the slogan ‘We care – we listen' and dials the number. When the phone is answered, in tears she says that she needs help and doesn't know what to do as we head into the first commercial break.
Same location but a bit later, Bree arrives as Janae sits on the conveniently located bench, wondering what she is doing sitting there. Bree mentions that Boyd told her they'd broken up and wants to know why since they were perfect for each other. Janae tells a surprised Bree that the helpline suggested she tell someone she trusts and Janae has picked her sister. After reminding Bree that what she is about to say remains between them, she tells her sister that she may have caught a disease from Mike and she is concerned that Boyd may either have it too or will catch it from her.
Kim is after another favour from Max – an advance on his wages…well $2k to be precise! Kim tells Max what the money was to be used for but Max won't lend him the money because he hardly knows Kim, but he promises to give him as many shifts as he can but urges him to fess up to Janelle.
Bree and Janae arrive home with Bree still stunned about what Janae has told her and the fact she has unprotected sex with Mike. Janae asks her to stop having a go at her. Bree urges her get tested as well as Mike's current partner before asking how Janae found out about all this. “From a reliable source,” is all that Janae is prepared to say and again tells her not to say anything to anyone else. Bree promises not to blab.
Surgery/law firm office
Toadie puts the finishing touches to Connor's disguise – a telephone repairman – so he can spy on the lazy bludger. Connor is shocked to hear that he has to climb up 30 or 40 feet to gather the required information and tells Toadie that the more he hears of this plan the less conformable he is with it. Toadie reassures him that he'll be fine. Connor tries to back out but Toadie tells him to get on with it and he'll buy the beers once the mission is completed.
Boyd looks at some leaflets (Hepatitis B, HIV/AIDS: to test or not to test, Hepatitis C, HepChat) but quickly hides them when Max comes over and feigns that he's just reading up on things before he undergoes a full blood exam before starting med school. Max isn't exactly looking forward to the prospect of hearing Boyd's work with needles given his tendency to keel over when he sees one!
Finally Max asks what is going on with Janae and himself and Boyd says it is nothing. Max tells him he'll win her around because he has the family genna? Boyd asks why it isn't working on Steph then and Max replies that he hasn't tried it on her – a case of do as I say and not as I do obviously! Boyd tells him to hurry up then unless he wants to move into the bar permanently. Max tries to explain that things are more complicated between him and Steph (marriage, mortgage, business and kids), and Boyd tells his dad that he's sure things will work out fine between them. Max replies that he isn't giving up as Boyd leaves to get his blood taken.
Janelle arrives downcast to the bar and Kim wants to know what is up. Finally she admits that it is the book that is bothering her and wishes she'd never started it. Kim reminds her that the publisher wanted more from her but Janelle admits that her stimulation is gone since the family is quietly getting on with things and she is missing hasn't got the tension which spurred her on to write. Kim admits that she needs to get her inspiration back ASAP as they need the money because the $2k it got nicked while he went surfing as we head into the next commercial break.
Janae is hiding from Boyd in her room and refuses to come out and talk to him. He shouts out to her that she'll be safe (and isn't at risk) but she refuses to come out so he leaves after telling Bree that Janae knows where to find him when she is ready to talk.
With Boyd safely gone, Janae comes out of her room and has a go at Bree for letting him in the house in the first place. Bree tells her that she can't hide forever and that she should tell him the full story. Janae is reluctant to do so because it will mean the end of them forever once Boyd finds out the full story. Bree is a little confused so Janae explains that Boyd doesn't know the full story but Bree thinks he'll forgive her and stay with her. Janae however thinks still thinks that Boyd will be better off without her.
Kim is stunned that he still has his head on his shoulders following his confession but Janelle wants to kiss him – he's given her back the inspiration to write and after a quick hug she leaves to go home and write. Max is surprised to hear how well Janelle took the news and Kim remarks that he must have caught her on a good day.
Bree takes her mum's place to have a private chat with her dad. He leads her into the office and after shutting all the doors, Kim asks her to tell him what the problem is. Bree says it is serious and lets slip it is about Janae but Kim tells her he isn't playing games and wants to know what is going on.
Toadie leads Connor into the perfect position to put his trusty ladder up to catch the bludger on tape. Connor wishes that Toadie was holding the ladder, making sure it is safe and secure instead of hiding behind a big bush trying to remain incognito. Saying a prayer as he starts to climb, Connor gets up a few runs before deciding he's had enough but a tool gets caught in a run, preventing him from descending. Toadie tells him to jump as he's only a foot off the ground but Connor is having none of it nor will he go back up to free the tool. Finally, Toadie tries to lift Connor off the ladder but in the process they both fall backwards onto the ground followed two seconds later by the ladder but luckily it just misses them as it falls. As Connor lies on the ground in agony and Toadie tries to get up, the bludger they were spying on gets into his car. And to add insult to it all, when Connor finally gets up he informs Toadie that not only is he no longer working for him but that he's going to sue him too and that he'd better find himself a good lawyer!
Max calls Steph but either she isn't at home or she is refusing to take his call as he tells her voicemail/answering machine that she can call him at any time and that it would be nice to call Boyd to congratulate him…and that he loves her.
Kim and Bree come back out of the office and he assures her that she did the right thing and he'll talk to Janae first rather than Janelle. Max asks if Kim is ready to help him but he says that he can't stay and help he has to go home on family business.
Janelle is typing away on the keyboard as Bree and Kim arrive home. Janelle doesn't fall for their plan to get her out of the house but gives in to her second plan, so Bree and Janelle depart leaving Kim alone to chat to Janae.
Kim tells her that Bree talked to him and Janae tries to do a runner. He quickly stops her and tells her that it is too big for her to deal by herself and hugs her as she breaks down crying. She thinks he will be mad at her because it is all her fault but he calmly tells her that it isn't her fault and for now they won't tell Janelle. Kim asks if she wants him to go with her to get tested and she can only nod as the tears start again. Kim comforts her and reassures her as we go into the final commercial break.
Max moans to Boyd about Kim letting him down but Boyd suggests that things may be going on at home and to give him a break. Max points out that things aren't good at home for him either and begins wonders what the problem is given how desperate Kim was for money earlier on. Boyd says it must be a real emergency and after a bit of pressure from Max, says that Janae is the problem and that she has some stuff going on and could really be done with her dad around. Max wonders if it is related to the problems Boyd is having with her and he replies “kind of” but doesn't offer any more information. Max tells Boyd that he admires Kim for coming back and really putting his family first and it isn't something you see a lot of but would prefer he did so when it wasn't his rostered day off. Max then asks what Boyd is doing being at the bar instead of supporting Janae. Boyd says that she doesn't want him around but Max tells him not to accept that and to get round there, which he decides to do as he leaves the bar.
Kim and Janae head to the surgery just as Boyd comes out of the bar. Kim heads into the surgery to wait for her and Janae stops to talk to Boyd. She tells him that she is going in to get tested and Boyd tells her that if they only kissed then she doesn't need testing as you can't catch it through kissing. Janae says she lied to him and things went a lot further than kissing, that they weren't careful either and that there is a good chance she has got it too. She also tells him that he may have it too before she heads off leaving him stunned.
