Lyn working out that the job at Lassiters is to be Paul's PA and Paul asking if she is still interested in the job.
Lassiters
Lyn nervously looks through her CV waiting for her turn. Paul shows the previous candidate out and Lyn decides to do a runner saying she's changed her mind. He comments that the job would be a change from her current one and wonders if she's up to the challenge. Lyn begins to doubt herself and ask Paul if she is suitable for the job and he replies that the job requires someone 24/7 and wonders why she wants away from the salon. Lyn says she wants a change and a fresh challenge and this is the first job she has applied for, so he asks her to stay and he'll go through her CV with her.
No. 32
Karl gives Steph the once over and says that the baby is fine unlike her and recommends some TLC after every meal from Max as a cure. Steph asks about her dreams and he reassures her it is normal for that stage of the pregnancy but that she needs to relax and get her sleep pattern back into order. Karl also tells her that the dreams, however powerful, mean nothing (which Steph is glad to hear and confirms what she is trying to tell herself) and adds that the only potential thread to the pregnancy is her excessive stress levels. Steph replies that operation chill out begins now! As Max shows Karl out, Steph breaths a sigh of relief which takes he straight back into dreamland and looking at Drew pushing a pram like you do trying to get a baby off to sleep.
No. 26
Janelle and Ozzie finish putting up the Christmas decorations which in the background the tape Janelle recorded at the hen's night plays. Rachel and Bree come through from the kitchen just as according to Janelle, the best bit comes on - Susan telling the security guards to get their gear off because she though they were strippers! Rachel isn't impressed as we see Susan being carted off by the guards and is shocked to hear that Janelle is considering submitting the tape to 'Stupid Ozzie's' and that she'd have a good chance of winning the $20k grand prize.
Ozzie decides he's had enough of Janelle wearing the fluffy ears Sky wore at her 18th and takes them off her head as they head into the bedrooms to change his nappy.
Summer calls round but gets a frosty reception from Rachel so she decides to leave after arranging to meet Bree at TGS at 1pm. Rachel says that she can't meet Sum as they're discussing formal outfits at that time, so Bree then invites Sum to join them since she is hot on fashion. Rachel now decides she has to go home too and bails.
Janelle silently comes out of the bedroom and notices the change in atmosphere just as Rachel was leaving and wants to know the details. Reluctantly, Bree is forced to say that Summer and Rachel hate each other and wishes they could all be friends. Janelle says that popularity is power and she is in the best seat!
No. 28
Alex invites Karl in and confirms that they are alone before Karl tells him (he sought permission from Alex's oncologist) that the lymphoma is back with vengeance and is attacking his immune system. Alex asks how long he's got left and is shocked to hear Karl say weeks, days possibly. Karl wonders if he's told Susan how he is feeling and Alex says no, he doesn't want to worry her what with the wedding and Christmas approaching. Karl then tells him he'll have to say something soon and Alex thanks him, despite the awkwardness of the situation, for standing by him.
KARL: I think the time is here to...to tell your kids.
ALEX: How in gods name do I tell them?
Rachel and Zeke pin up their stockings on the bookcase due to No. 28 not having a mantelpiece. Susan goes over to Alex and tells him since he is sitting staring into space, that they will find Katya. His phone starts to ring and he thinks it may be news from the investigator who is looking for Katya.
At the bookcase, Rachel and Zeke talk about what to get Susan for Christmas. He suggests a book on roses but Rachel says there is something better at No. 26 and if he gets it, then he'll be a hero.
Alex comes off the phone but it isn't good news - all the leads are exhausted and therefore she could be living under a different name and therefore she may never be found.
No. 26
Bree wants Janelle to expand on what she said earlier, so she tells her daughter that if they (Rachel and Summer) demand her attention the she has to supply it...but just enough to keep both of them hanging on and to milk it for what it is worth. Bree wants to know what use is that and is told that is the way of the world - "naive and sweet won't get you to the top of a multi-national corporation" - and that it is time to toughen up. Bree doesn't think that is a good idea, so Janelle tells her that Summer and Rachel are looking for a leader and Bree is it.
JANELLE: Oh my wonderful little baby girl finally getting the attention she deserves. Now you can make up for all those horrible years of social exile.
BREE: Mum they weren't that bad.
JANELLE: My advice - use your smarts, play them off against each other and kick back and enjoy the rewards.
No. 28
Susan is telling Zeke that all is not lost yet, there is still the picture they put in The Big Issue. Rachel announces she's off to meet the girls and Susan asks to take Zeke with he so she can have some private time with Alex, so reluctantly she agrees to Susan's request. With the kids out of the way, Susan goes over to talk to Alex as he is very quiet but notices that he is burning up. He shocks Susan by telling her that the symptoms are back and he may not live long enough to see Katya even if she is found.
The General Store
Bree sits at a table and to her right is Summer and her left Rachel. Simultaneously, they both ask her if she wants a milkshake.
BREE: Oh yes sure.
RACHEL: I'll get it.
SUMMER: What sort do you want?
RACHEL: She likes chocolate.
SUMMER: Well last time I checked she liked strawberry.
RACHEL: Well sometimes she feels like chocolate.
SUMMER: Well fine then, I'll just get her chocolate.
RACHEL: It was my idea.
SUMMER: But I said it first.
BREE: Hey, you know what, Rachel you can get me the milkshake and Summer can you please get me a piece of cake?
SUMMER and RACHEL together: What sort?
Bree says to surprise her and they head to the counter where Zeke tells Rachel that Janelle with he now restored fluffy ears is watching him. Sum wants to know what they are going on about, so Rachel explains that she gave Zeke the perfect idea for Susan's Christmas present but that he is too chicken to get it. Zeke says that is because it is morally reprehensible. Rachel then says what Janelle plans to do with the tape and Zeke pipes up that she wants him to steal it. Sum thinks it is a great idea to preserve Susan's dignity. Zeke admits that he is scared that things go wrong, so Sum comes up with a plan - replacing the tape with a blank one. Rachel thinks that is a brilliant idea and wonders if they have enough money so they can buy a tape on the way home.
No. 28
An upset Susan asks Alex if there is any chance of the news being wrong and he says no. Alex tells her that they should cancel the wedding & honeymoon and live each day as it comes but Susan rejects it. She tells him that they have to stay positive and enjoy what time they do have left, especially with the kids.
ALEX: You will look after the kids for me won't you?
SUSAN: (tearfully) Of course I will.
Tearfully, they both say that they love each other and kiss each other as the rest of us go and get some hankies.
The General Store
The kids have enough money for a tape and Sum tells Zeke where to buy one, so he heads off even if he is reluctant about the whole thing. At the table, Bree is annoyed that not only has her plan not worked but that she feels Rachel and Summer are ganging up on her, even Zeke.
JANELLE: Zeke could be in on a pool party at a sewage plant if it thought it would get him some mates.
Rachel returns with a milkshake for Bree and wants to know what she was talking about. Rachel replies nothing, so Bree questions why Rachel is speaking to Sum...especially after Sum said about her. Naturally Rachel is confused, so Bree explains that Summer said that Rachel bought her clothes out of a catalogue. "I did," replies Rachel, which throws Bree's plans so she quickly says that Summer thinks it is a bad thing before asking Rachel not to say that she's told her.
Rachel leaves in a strop as Summer comes back with a piece of chocolate cake wondering where Rachel's gone to. "You're conceited and self-absorbed, so that might have something to do with it," replies Bree. Again, like Rachel, Summer is confused but annoyed at what has been said about her, so calls Rachel "a two-faced back stabber" before adding that it is good riddance to Rachel.
Bree and Janelle smile at each other pleased that the plan is working.
Lassiters
Lyn tells Paul of all the things she's done including Joe's business and Beauty Tree. She explains that she did quite well and enjoyed the Beauty Tree stuff, which is more than can be said of the comments in the UK Gold thread when it was aired recently. Paul is annoyed to find that Lyn's success with Beauty Tree isn't in her CV and Lyn replies that she didn't want to brag/boast about it. He then picks up that she did a lot more for Joe's business than she's given herself credit for and Lyn mentions that she missed out debt collecting from the CV. They talk a bit about the debt collecting and how she managed to get the money out of people (she found out what their hobby was) and Paul mentions that a lawyer owes him money for a function held at Lassiters and all the things he'd done so far hasn't worked. Lyn suggests a few tactics he could use, so Paul sets Lyn a challenge - get the $5k he is owed from the lawyer and he will not only help polish up Lyn's CV but he'll give her 10% too. Lyn is starting to think about the $500 she will collect, so Paul set a deadline of 24 hours.
The General Store
Bree orders some milkshakes as Rachel comes in to collect the jacket she left at the table. Summer naturally is sitting there and Rachel has a go at her for the comments she made about where she buys her clothes from. Summer likewise has a go back at her before they eventually suss out that neither has made the comments they were alleged to have said...and that Bree is the common denominator in it. Feigning her innocence, Bree ask if Rachel would like a milkshake and she replies no before Bree and Rachel walk out of TGS with their arms linked together. Zeke returns with the blank tape, wondering where Rachel and Summer are going. "Somewhere as far away from me as possible," replies Bree before explaining that she listened to her stupid mum.
No. 22
Lyn gives Paul an envelope with the money she got out of the lawyer once she found his weak spot - his hobby being model airplanes. To Lyn's surprise, Paul gives her the whole $5k and hopes they can do it again but Lyn is a reluctant to accept the money. Paul offers her a job, with hours to suit herself and Oscar, because he wants people around him that he can rely on and trust and Lyn agrees to think about it.
No. 26
Zeke creeps into the house while Janelle sleeps, doing an impression of the 'man who loves milk tray' but instead of a box of choccies being left, he leaves a video tape and picks up the other one before leaving. Turns out that Janelle wasn't really asleep, only pretending to, and hence knew what he did and tells Harvey that it was a good thing she still had the original!
Steph's dream
We're back in Steph's dream and this time Max is in it - he's trying to get Drew out of the house but Drew is refusing to go without his baby.
No. 32
Steph wakes up distraught that she has had another dream and wishes that they would stop. Max rushes to her and to tries to get her to calm down, remembering what Karl said earlier.
No. 28
Zeke is 'celebrating' after getting the tape from No. 26 when Rachel finds Katya's stocking. He wonders if they should put it up before suggesting it could be done as a sign of faith.
Susan and Alex come out of the bedroom and Zeke shows them the stocking with Katya's name on it and asks if they can put it up. Rachel takes the silence as meaning no but Zeke asks what is wrong since neither of them has said anything.
ALEX: Guys, there is something I've been holding back from you. It's time you learned the truth.
