Gary and Susan's first date.
Boyd telling Summer that their Mum told him to meet her.
Summer is trying to get round the info that Boyd told her (that their mum is going to meet them). She asks how he managed to talk to her but Boyd is put out that Sum isn't excited, so she feigns excitement and asks again – how did Claire speak to him. Boyd is having trouble remembering and is getting frustrated, so he runs off leaving Summer there.
Susan keeps up the community sprit by bringing round another casserole for Karl. She is impressed that Karl is getting back on top again – including doing the ironing! Susan asks if he is ready to resume working instead of being a patient but he isn't sure he's ready to go back for a while yet after he's tidied up a few things at the hospital, but she reassures him he'll be back doing his George Clooney fantasy soon! Karl denies it until he admits that Janelle thought he did look like George! As a side note, he asks Susan to return the casserole dishes back to Ramsay Street for him.
Steph is giving Sky her sympathy on the news of the break in at No. 24. Sky is round to see Boyd and Steph shouts on him, but there is no reply so Steph shouts again. Steph notices the schoolbags and tells Sky to go into his room as he might be listening to music on his headphones. As Sky heads there, she spots the letter that Boyd wrote and Steph reads it out
STEPH: Steph, great news, I'm taking Summer with me…you might just want to set an extra place for dinner because
SKY: Because what?
STEPH: We're bringing mum home.
Steph hands over the letter to an equally confused Sky.
Boyd is still running (including going head first down an embankment) but with Summer in hot pursuit of him.
Sindi is asking Susan when her date is coming, so she can get a look at him. Stuart phones asking her to get some new PJ's for the hospital, so they chat a bit about the op before Sindi leaves just as Gary walks in. He tells her about his plan for opening a bookshop and asks for her help. Gary tells her that before he can look to the future there is things he needs to tell her about his past, and Susan gives him a funny look – a cross between curiosity and worry.
Summer has reached the waters edge and there is no sign of Boyd, so she shouts out his name but there is no reply so she heads off again.
The General Store
Sky and Steph come in looking for Boyd and Summer but they're not there, so they ask Serena if she's seen them. She hasn't and asks what's up, so they say they just need to find them and she goes with them to help look.
Summer is still looking for Boyd and suddenly spots him lying on the ground curled up holding his head. She goes over to him and he tearfully apologises to her for getting them lost and Summer says it's OK before hugging him. Sum tells him to follow her home and when he recoils she says she spoke to Claire. Boyd tearfully asks if Claire was angry with him and an equally teary Summer says no and she leads him home.
Toadie is on the phone to a Leo on behalf of Eva arranging a meeting about him discriminating against her. When he gets off the phone, Eva wants to know if he made ‘the slimy little worm' cry and Toadie assures her that Leo is running scared. Eva wants to know if she will get her gig, and Toadie wants to know why she would even consider working there after what Leo did, but she tells him that he told her she shouldn't let it stand in her way before Toadie leaves for the meeting.
Somehow Summer has managed to get home and is on the phone to Steph telling her to come right home and tells her about Boyd talking to Claire. She wonders what is wrong with Boyd before urging Steph to hurry home.
Even more tears, but this time they are Carmella's as she is talking to Karl. He is asking her how she is feeling and Carmella begins to open up. Karl says it can only get better now she's opened up and asks how she is feeling. She says drained and scared, and Karl says it is a good start. Carmella wants to know if the nightmares will return, Karl can't be sure, then she asks when will things get back to normal with Connor. Karl says that it is a personal journey and to focus on herself first until she is healed. He starts to talk about Connor being the dominant partner in the relationship and she interprets this she should get away from Connor but Karl doesn't answer her.
As Summer is giving Boyd a glass of water he notices that her dress is ripped and asks how it happened. Boyd shouts out “mum we're home” and Summer just looks at him. Hearing no reply, he says “mum” and asks Summer where she is. Summer doesn't reply so Boyd asks “isn't she here”. This time she says “no” and Boyd tells Summer that she told him that their mum would be waiting for them. Tearfully she tells him that she lied and tries to say that their mum isn't there, but Boyd again says that he saw her and that she was real until it suddenly hits him that Claire is dead. Boyd starts to cry saying he misses her so much. Summer says she does too and goes and comforts him.
BOYD: What's happening to me?
SUMMER: (shaking her head) I don't know.
Gary is showing Susan the info for his shop. He needs her help on obtaining premises and she agrees to help him next week.

Karl has arrived and is asking Boyd if he remembers going to the park, Boyd says no. He asks him now about the visit from his mother and Boyd turns and tells him she's dead. This time Karl asks Boyd about him seeing/talking to Claire and Boyd says that it couldn't have actually have happened. Karl reassures Boyd that although it looks like a bit of a nightmare at the moment, he/they'll make it go away and Boyd perks up a bit at that.
Sindi now arrives after buying Stu his PJ's. She spots Susan and goes over to her as the rest admire the PJ's (blue with grey aliens!)
TOADIE: Nice jim-jams.
STU: Are they cool?
TOADIE: Ah, wait until you can see them mate.
STU: So they're not cool.
TOADIE: No, they're cool.
Sindi is asking where Gary is, thinking that he'd stood Susan up, but she says he's in the loo. Sindi wants the gossip and Susan goes to get her a drink just as Gary comes back.
SUSAN: Gary, I'd like you to meet a very good friend of mine, Sindi Watts, Gary Evans.
Sindi stands up and recognises him and it looks like she's seen a ghost. Gary plays it cool and Susan goes to get her drink, refusing his offer of buying one, so they can get to know each other.
SINDI: (menacingly) What the hell are you doing with my friend?
Gary tells her that he's told Susan about his past including their encounter. Seeing the shocked look on Sindi's face, he says only broad details and didn't name names. He tells her that nothing did happen between them and he's changed because of their encounter and what happens now (Susan is still at the bar getting drinks) is up to her. Sindi says that Susan is her friend and Gary adds that she's his friend too. Susan comes back and wonders how they're getting on – they both lie and say fine.
Karl is on the phone to Dr Levi the psychiatrist and tells Steph that he can see Boyd at the hospital tonight. Steph looks relieved but Karl takes her aside and tells her that Boyd's symptoms indicate a serious psychiatric problem and that he is going to need assessment in a safe and secure environment, and adds that Jeremy Levi is an excellent psychiatrist. A shocked Steph asks if Karl can go with them, which of course he will.
Boyd has been admitted to hospital and is sitting on a trolley dressed in a white gown. He is confused and asks Sky what they're waiting for.
Karl sits down beside Summer and tells Karl about lying to Boyd and he reassures her, as she gets upset. Steph is on the phone trying to get a message to Max but is getting a bad reception, but asks him to phone her at the hospital asap as it is urgent. Dr Levi comes in and is introduced to Steph before Karl gives him some info on Boyd and he tells Steph it may take some time.
He goes round the corner to where Boyd is being kept company by Sky and Serena and introduces himself and explains they're going to have a chat and run a few tests. Boyd lies down on the trolley and it is wheeled off as they all stand and watch.
Sindi has brought back drinks for everyone. Connor says he has to work and can Toadie give Carmella a lift home. Carmella says she doesn't need one and tells him she'll get a taxi. Eva wishes Stu good luck for the operation. Sindi looks over to where Susan and Gary are sitting.
Susan is thanking him for tonight as she really enjoyed it. He tells her he is a bit of a klutz at the post-date stuff and he doesn't want to spoil it, as he'd really like to do it again soon. Susan agrees and Gary leaves with a peck on the cheek for her.
Toadie is asking if Stu's soul patch will get the chop in preparation for the op as he was shaved prior to his appendix operation. Stu says no way will they touch the patch and he asks Sindi if she's ready to leave and she says to give him a second. She makes her way over to Susan's table and wants to know if she gave Gary the brush off. Susan says no, why would she, as he's the perfect gentleman.
Boyd is telling them all what happened when Karl comes into his room to talk to them, as he is a family friend. Boyd says that it doesn't sound too good, and Karl laughs it off before asking Serena and Sky to wait outside but Boyd wants them to stay. Karl tells them the news – it's a treatable condition and the provisional diagnosis is adolescent schizophrenia. He quickly tells them about the misconceptions of mental illness and says that it is just a provisional diagnosis. Everyone looks shocked and Sky asks what he means by provisional and Karl replies that there are more tests to run. Boyd asks how long he is going to be in for and Karl is very vague but says at least overnight before asking Steph if she's heard from Max. Steph says not yet, so Karl asks her to sign forms as the legal guardian. Boyd asks why he can't sign them and Karl replies that legally he can't. Sky spots the forms Steph has been asked to sign and says, “you're having him committed?” Boyd is shocked and Sky adds that he can't do that. Karl explains that Boyd could be a danger to himself or others if he has another episode and that it is the best thing for Boyd. Steph asks Boyd if he is happy with this and he replies yes but looks petrified.
