Recap
- Izzy looking for Karl, Sky telling her he left with Susan.
- Karl knocking on Susan's bedroom door.
Susan's
Susan rejects Karl, saying that the offer was for him to sleep on the couch. She won't be a part of him getting back at Isabelle. Karl tells him that isn't it, it's just that they had a nice evening. Susan says he should go. She's not his consolation prize.
Outside, Steph sees Izzy sitting in her car and walks over. Izzy tells her she's going to kill Karl. Steph convinces her to talk to her about it at Number 32.
Back in the house, Karl is putting away the bedding stuff he had. Susan comes out and tells him he doesn't have to do it, she can do it in the morning. Karl tells her it's alright, and says that he'll check into a hotel, or maybe go home and see if Izzy can be civil. He apologises, and tells her he did want to kiss her.
Hoyland house
Steph tries to calm Izzy down, but her hysteria has woken up Summer. Izzy looks out the window and sees Karl leave Susan's place, and runs over there. On her way out, she tells Summer that all men are rats. Steph tells Summer to go back to bed, and she sends Sky home as well.
Outside
Izzy screams at Karl, waking up the street. The Bishops come out to watch. Karl tries to explain to Izzy that nothing happened. When she won't listen to him, he drives off. Izzy then goes off at the Bishop family, saying that they think they are so much better than her, but they would shrivel up and die without her to gossip about. Lil tells her they're only out there because she's making such a big song and dance and keeping them up. When she drives off, Lil says she's going to check on Susan.
Susan's
Susan tells Lyn what happened. Lil comes over to see if Susan is alright. Susan tells her about Karl wanting to sleep with her, and her turning him down. Lil tells her she's proud of her holding her head high through everything. Susan confesses that she did want Karl tonight, and says she hates herself for feeling that.
Karl's place
Izzy hears Karl coming and puts on the door chain. She won't let him in and tells him to go back to Susan. Karl tells her that this is his house, and demands that she let him in. Izzy gives in and opens the door. Karl tells her he won't tolerate being locked out.
Susan's
Lil suggests that maybe Karl wanted to get Izzy back, and says that Izzy wouldn't hold back if the shoe was on the other foot. Susan says it's more complicated than that.
Karl's
Izzy continues screaming and crying. Karl tells her to give it a rest.
Susan's
Lil suggests that maybe part of Susan wanted something to happen, like the beginning of a new relationship. Susan says that there is too much water under the bridge, they could never go back.
Karl's
Karl tells her that he only went over there to sleep on the couch. He tells her that he wanted to be with Susan. It's better than coming home to this every night. Izzy goes to hit Karl, but Karl catches her arm.
Susan's
Lil wonders if Karl and Susan are meant to be together. Soul mates perhaps. Maybe it's worth another shot. Susan asks her why Karl keeps hurting her if that's the case. She can't trust him after all he's done.
Karl's
Izzy keeps crying. She tells Karl that she could have had many affairs but she stayed loyal to him. He has betrayed her while she never thought of anyone else. Karl tells her that she kissed Jack Scully. Izzy says that she was grieving the loss of her baby, and Karl wasn't there for her. He says that when he comes home, he's never sure what she'll be like. There's hysteria, seduction and who knows what else. Izzy tells Karl he can sleep on the couch, but Karl tells her that he is not going to be kicked out of the bedroom.
Bishop House
David and Harold are wondering where Lil is. Sky tells them to go to bed, it's none of their business. Lil comes home and the men press her for details (trying to sound concerned for Susan), which she won't give. Sky tells them they need to get lives. Lil goes to bed, to their dismay.
Outside (the next day)
Harold and David admire Paul's car, which David has borrowed. Lil walks out and meets up with Susan, who slept surprisingly well. Lil notices Izzy walking up the street.
SUSAN: Oh, hear we go, a traditional Susan/Isabelle showdown. I wonder who will win today.
LIL: I wonder. I could hold her down if you like.
SUSAN: As tempting as that is, no, this is a return grudge match.
LIL: Well, my money's on you. Go get 'em, tiger.
Sky walks out of the house as Lil, Harold and David go in for front row seats for the fight. "Shameless," she says as she walks past.
SUSAN: Morning! Out for some exercise, are you?
IZZY: Don't try that superior act on me. You know why I'm here.
SUSAN: Bit puffy round the eyes there. Had a rough night?
IZZY: Who do you think you are?
SUSAN: Isabelle, I know you like a public display, but I'm busy.
IZZY: If you get cold and lonely at night, it's for good reason. You have no right to steal other women's men.
SUSAN: (scoffing) That's rich!
Number 32
Steph explains to Summer the events of last night. She tells her that Izzy was just angry, and didn't mean what she said about men. Summer comments that Izzy has a love/hate relationship with men, and asks if they've broken up. Steph says she isn't sure. Sky comes over to visit Boyd, and before they run off, she reminds Boyd about his steroid test appointment that afternoon.
Outside
IZZY: You think that you've got this little unspoken thing going on with him, talking books and all that intellectual rubbish -
SUSAN: Yeah, I can see that would be difficult for you.
IZZY: Your pathetic sideways glances at him, every time he's near you, trying to get him to notice you, well guess what, he doesn't notice you. He doesn't care less about you.
SUSAN: Oh, that's why he was at my house last night.
David and Harold creep in to hear better.
IZZY: You are so obvious. Trying to be there for him, trying to get him to notice you. Trying to get him to open up and say that he needs you. Well he won't!
Lil sneaks up on the Bishop men and tells them to get inside. Harold tells her that it could get violent, it could be prudent to stay. Lil tells them to move it.
Meanwhile:
IZZY: He's happier with me than he ever has been with you!
SUSAN: Don't compare us, Isabelle. It's just boring.
IZZY: I don't need to compare. Have you seen yourself lately?
SUSAN: Oh, get over yourself! You're gonna get older, you're gonna get wrinkles. I would have thought your looks would have kept Karl amused for longer than this. Although, I guess that's why girls like you get around so much, no conversation.
IZZY: You stink of jealousy.
SUSAN: You really need to change the record. We all know you can rant and rave, what we want to know is, can you fetch and beg?
IZZY: Oh, shut up!
SUSAN: Well you're gonna have to do something. Karl and I have a very long history. Does he still find me sexy? Gee, I don't know. What does it mean when I man comes to your bedroom door in the middle of the night?
IZZY: You are so poisonous.
SUSAN: Oh, and um, Isabelle? That little thing you've got going with Paul? You should be very careful. These little things always get out. It's almost as if they're written in the sky. Thanks, Izzy. I feel so much better now.
And with that, Susan walks off.
Hospital
Boyd and Karl come out of a room after his test. Steph comments on how quick it was. Boyd tells her that he just had to pee in a cup to prove what he's been saying. Karl says he'll let them know when the test results come through, most likely tomorrow. He and Sky walk back home. Steph asks Karl about the test. Karl says it's hard not to notice he's a bit "tense". Steph says she's just trying to be responsible. Karl says they'll know more tomorrow.
Coffee Shop
Harold tells Izzy that things will settle down, every relationship has its ups and downs. Izzy tells Harold she wasn't talking about him last night. Harold assures her that they could all see how upset she was, no one took offence. It's nothing a few words of apology won't fix. Izzy tells Harold she needs to get going and leaves.
David and Lil talk about their increasingly schedules. David sees a note in Lil's about a "C Thornton" who he finds out is Dame Clarissa Thornton and suggests he should go with her, because he's a Council member and she's important in the community. Lil tells him that her meeting is about raising funds, not his self-serving network. David reminds her of all his things that he takes her to, and says she never would have got to see a building being blown up.
LIL: Alright.
DAVID: Okay, good. 3.30 then.
LIL: No, no, I meant, alright, you can come to the rest of my things. Starting with the Bowls Club.
DAVID: Oh, see, can't do that one. Bad time.
LIL: Now why am I not surprised?
School
Summer tells Sky about her piano class. Some of the kids in it want her to eat lunch with them, but they're total dorks. Sky says that if Summer likes them, she shouldn't care what everyone else thinks. She stops Summer because they see Karl and Susan talking, and they creep over to hear. Susan asks Karl about his sessions with Dylan. Karl says that he's hostile, but they'll get there. She asks how everything else is going. "Who knows?" replies Karl.
Karl's
Izzy gets a bottle of wine ready. Karl comes home. Izzy apologises for last night, and promises to change. She considers what Karl did at Susan's a slip-up, and forgives him. She then tells Karl what she expects from him: she wants him to stop working at the school and to cut all ties with Susan. Karl stands up and tells her he can't be bothered anymore. He's sick of the whole relationship and tells Izzy to pack her bags and find somewhere else to live. It's over.
