Max and Jack having words about what's best for Steph
Stingray christening the robot ‘Cake-Taker'
Steph informing Max that she's having a fertility test whether he likes it or not.
Max's steely gaze turns into a grin and he says to Steph that they'll both get tested. Steph is excited and hugs him. He says they need a definite answer so they can both move on.
Connor races out to give Toadie his official Cake-Taker t-shirt (he's already wearing his) and passes him one to give to Sindi as well. They discuss the possibility of making a website and selling merchandise. Sindi pops over to see what Toadie's up to and Connor wonders if she's giving off any ‘electro-magnetic radiation' today. Sindi snips back that she's the good luck charm now. Toadie hands her the Cake-Taker shirt, which she unenthusiastically puts on.
TOADIE: You're just like one of those grid girls for the Grand Prix except in a race for nerds!
Sindi wonders if Toadie wants to have dinner but he doesn't quite get the gist and invites Connor along for the ride suggesting they can have pizza. She says she thought they could be alone but he says he couldn't leave the baby alone. Sindi mistakenly thinks he means Maddy but gets annoyed when she realises he meant CT.
SINDI: Okay, see I really think that…
TOADIE: Sin, come on, you're on the team now. No I in team.
CONNOR: Yes, and no anchovies!
SINDI: … Right.
Libby is getting dinner ready for her and Susan so they can watch their soap on the TV. Susan's just come back from another unsuccessful meeting with her lawyer – it seems as though he keeps giving her the run around. They settle down for the show just as Sindi charges in spewing forth her hatred for CT and Toadie ignoring her.
Susan: Sindi, Sindi, Sindi! Very sympathetic, please shut-up!
She scoots down next to Susan on the couch to watch the show with them. They all make a shocked face at the same time when something exciting happens on screen.
Max, Steph, Summer and Jack are all eating dinner in the lounge room. Well, Summer is actually bugging her dad and Steph to tell her all about how the fertility tests work much to Max's discomfort. Steph tells her that they'll take some blood and there'll be a little bit of pain but she'll be fine. Summer nods and then whirls around to face Max.
SUMMER: So dad, what are they going to do to you?
SUMMER: Well you're going to have a test aren't you?
MAX: … Yep.
SUMMER: Yeah, so what do they do?
MAX: Ahh, it's a lot simpler.
JACK: Yeah, no study required!
MAX: Yeah, you know it's pretty straightforward it's just a count.
SUMMER: A count, like what? Count Dracula?
MAX: No, no, no, they count… things. Look it's totally painless; it's nothing to worry about. (He looks at the TV and tries to distract her). Look, camels! Sub-Saharan camels!
Jack says he can mind Summer while they're out tomorrow. Max looks like he's going to suggest something else but Summer is happy with the idea. He looks uneasily at Jack.
The soap has come to an end for the night leaving the girls to swoon over one of the male Brazilian stars. Sindi bets they don't have “stupid robots” in Rio. Libby says it's time to talk divorce lawyers now because the one Susan has now is useless. Susan says she doesn't know any other lawyers besides Toadie. Libby lays her cards on the table and suggests Susan asks Tim Collins – she knows that he's a snake and that she doesn't like him as a person, but admits he's a very good lawyer.
LIBBY: You want someone who's not afraid to go for the jugular.
Susan: Elizabeth! It's your father's jugular we're talking about.
LIBBY: You deserve to get everything you're entitled to mum, and then some.
Connor and Toadie are testing out CT's controls. All seems to be going well until she reverts back to whirling around in circles and beeping a lot. Sindi walks in just in time to be whacked in the shin by the psychotic robot. She yelps in pain and hops about but the boys seem to be more concerned about any damages that were done to CT. Sindi gets frustrated and cracks, saying she's leaving. Toadie gets her to sit down on the couch and she tells him that he cares more about the robot than her. He says he doesn't and promises he'll make her some brunch and then they can talk about plans for the day. He convinces Connor to take Bob for a walk. Toadie kisses her leg injury better, then her hand. Sindi points to her lips.
SINDI: Yeah, it's referred pain.
They have a smooch.
Steph has gone on a tidying spree to try and combat her nerves. She says to Max that maybe it's better that they don't know, then they can still hold on to hope. He says he knows she's scared but they should think positively.
MAX: They're going to find out that everything's in working order and all we got to do is put in a little more practice, which I'm very happy to do.
STEPH: Me too.
Jack shows up for Summer-sitting duty and wishes Max and Steph luck.
Sindi looks a lot happier now that she seems to have Toadie's attention back. She's enjoying her yummy brunch… until she notices Cake-Taker moving out of the corner of her eye. She tries to act like everything is normal and says to Toadie that they should learn Portuguese so they can go and have a holiday in Rio. CT moves a few more times, which freaks Sindi out even more, and she bolts up off the couch. “Those things are not supposed to move on their own!” Toadie works out that Connor is controlling it from the kitchen – but he's excited to find out that the controls are in tip-top shape again. That's the last straw for Sindi and she lays down the law to Toadie, it's either her or the robot. He says that's really unfair of her so she says she hopes the three of them are really happy together and leaves.
Summer and Jack are watching Bend It Like Beckham. Summer can't believe that Jack has never seen it before. She asks if he's ever met Beckham, and he says he did briefly at a sponsorship party. He's met the guy that coached the girls on the movie though – Simon Clifford. Summer lets Jack on a little secret after he promises he won't laugh. She really wants to be a professional boxer. Jack thinks it's a cool idea, “If you've got a dream then go for it.” The phone rings and Jack answers. It's for Summer… it's Caleb.
Tim Collins has come over to talk tactics with Susan. Libby joins them at the table after she fixes Ben up with some lunch. Tim says he'll work very aggressively on the case so Susan gets the best settlement possible. Susan's a bit wary on the aggressive aspect though. Tim tries to convince her that Karl's lawyer is probably already trying to play dirty. He says there's no reason they can't come out “smelling like roses” and get everything they want, “but from experience…” He says he knows that her and Karl probably started this whole process amicably, “but he's going to have his new piece of fluff in his ear telling him to milk you for every cent.” He says he'd be negligent in his duty if he didn't tell Susan to prepare herself for a fight.
Jack's on the phone to Caleb pretending that he's Summer's new boyfriend to make him get a taste of his own medicine. Summer is thrilled and thanks Jack with a huge smile on her face. “Yep Sum, revenge is sweet.” There's a knock at the door – It's Sindi looking for Steph to chat to because she needs a woman's advice and Susan and Libby are busy. She tells the two of them her problems anyway when Jack says Steph's out, saying that she's fed up with “that toaster on wheels”.
SINDI: How do you compete with something that's not even human, I mean it's not natural.
SUMMER: (Taking Sindi's hands in her own) Thank God you came to me, Sindi. Don't get mad, get even.
Sindi smiles at her.
Max looks out from around the door and asks Steph how her test went. She says it was okay and that they don't get the results straight away. Max admits it's not going very well his end due to a distinct lack of interest. Steph says maybe he can try harder, and he says he has been.
STEPH: Well maybe you're putting too much pressure on him?
MAX: What am I supposed to do? It's normally him putting pressure on me!
STEPH: (Tries not to laugh and walks over to Max) Well, maybe I can convince him to cooperate?
MAX: Is that allowed?
STEPH: It is in the name of Science.
They grin at one another and Steph ducks into the room with him.
Robot Annihilation Warehouse
Connor and Toadie saunter into the place with Cake-Taker, prancing around like they own the place, challenging any contenders to come and take them on. Sindi and Summer walk in with Jack who is carrying something under a sheet. She says that she's going to take them on and unveils ‘Powderpuff' (a delightfully pink contraption complete with pink feathers and what appears to be a gun looking thing on the hood). They laugh at her but then realise she's deadly serious. The challenge begins.
Toadie and Sindi each control their respective ‘bots as the crowd cheers crazily all around. It takes a bit of a while but PP manages to kick some CT butt – pushing it into the brick wall where it's demolished. Sindi, Summer and Jack celebrate while Toadie and Connor wail in despair.
The PP crew are making an orange juice toast “to Powderpuff”. Sindi thanks Jack and Summer for helping her out. Jack says the thanks should go to Sindi's ex-boyfriend who was the electrical engineer.
Connor and Toadie put the remains of CT on the portable BBQ as The Last Post plays in the background. They say a tribute to their lost friend, “We'll miss you, Cakey. We'll never forget you.” Connor lights a match and drops it on CT, putting the lid over it to keep the flames away. He and Toadie share a dramatically sad hug.
The PP crew are sitting on the floor now while Sindi drives her around the floor. They're laughing about how pathetic the whole robot competition was and Sindi giggles that they shouldn't speak ill of the dead.
Tim has swung by again for more chats. He says he doesn't like speaking ill of another colleague but tells Susan that she may have been missing out on money she's been entitled to for many years (I.e.: the wages that Karl used to put aside for her when she was a stay at home mum). Susan's worried about the moral side of things.
TIM: Susan, you can take whatever stand you want. All I'm saying is that unless you quarantine this money for yourself, there's a chance a good whack of it will just go to helping Izzy furnish her new nursery.
Susan makes a face.
Max and Steph are in with the doctor who is telling them that the preliminary blood tests look good and that they haven't received Max's results back yet. However, Steph may have an irregularity in her uterus and more tests would need to be run if they consented to it. Steph is distressed that the radiation therapy may be the underlying problem and Max tells the doctor to do whatever she has to, to find out what's wrong.
