Summer wanting to take Shadow home with her from the Bishops
Karl informing Max her ingested a large amount of sedative
Karl is searching for anything that could have poisoned Max but isn't having much luck. Sky suggests that someone may have tried to poison him and asks Max if he has upset anyone like a jilted lover? Boyd asks Max if he upset Mr Nest Freak, meaning Gus and tells Karl if he tells you not to be late for dinner you'd better not be or you might never live to eat again. Karl says there is probably an innocent explanation for it.
Harold arrives to pick Lou up. He sees a flyer for a fundraiser for the Dingoes football club and tells Lou he can't believe he'd be in it and the football club has to resort to these tactics to raise money. Lou tells Harold to says at home tucked up in bed with his moral outrage but he is going. Harold asks Lou what they will actually do at the fundraiser and he thinks he should go and know the facts before he launches an attack.
Karl is baffled he can't find anything in the house that could have poisoned Max.
IZZY: Talk about getting to know the family beauty secrets.
Karl reads the label off a container.
KARL: Guaranteed to smooth out wrinkles and dry lifeless skin.
IZZY: Must be Summer's.
SKY: I feel like I've walked into a Disney movie.
Sky and Boyd tells Summer she can't keep Shadow she's Lou's now. Summer says she can't take her back and the dog can say in her room. Summer walks off and sets up a bed for Shadow. Boyd calls Max and Summer runs out saying she'll do anything if the don't tell Max. Boyd and Sky smile and Summer says she won't be slave for the day. Boyd pretends to call Max and Summer agrees to want they want except for cleaning Boyd's room.
Gus puts a bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine in front of Izzy telling her the wine is cheeky yet sophisticated
IZZY: Yeah I've been called that before.
Gus goes to kiss her and she pulls back giving the excuse that there are customers watching. Gus says they should give them a thrill. Izzy tells Gus she's not in the mood and tells him about Max being taken to hospital and that Karl thinks he was sedated. Gus wants to know is Max is ok and if there will be any permanent damage. He then asks how it got into his system. Izzy says she doesn't know and Karl came over last night and checked everything but couldn't find the culprit. Gus says he's going to the pub to see if Max needs a hand.
Summer is polishing Boyd's shows. Max comes out wanting to know what is going on. Summer says she noticed Boyd's shoes needed a polish. Max says that's beyond the call of duty. Shadow barks and summer pretends sit is her saying she thinks she's coming down with a cold. Max tells Summer to stay there then goes into her room. Boyd and Sky leave saying back up was not part of the deal. Max comes out of Summer's room with Shadow in his arms wanting an explanation. Summer says she's sorry and she won't asks for any present ever again if she can keep him. She eventually tells Max Gus was looking after him in his room at the pub but then Shadow ran away and found her. She tells Max this isn't a fad like the God thing and she really loves Shadow. Max looks at the puppy and says that obviously either of them are going to take no for an answer and he allows Summer to keep her.
Gus is in the pub kitchen. He takes out the bottle of sedatives and scratches his name of the label. He puts some of the pills on a container of soup and put the rest on a shelf.
Max walks in and Gus is waiting for him. He tells Max Izzy told him what happened. He tells Max he almost fell asleep while riding his bike to the country and when Izzy told him what happened he didn't think anything of it until now. He tells Max they must have eaten the same thing. Max tells Gus he's just come in to get some paper work. Gus asks Max if he wants any breakfast. Max tells Gus he's already eaten. Gus goes into the kitchen then calls out to Max saying he's found the culprit.
In the Pub Kitchen
Karl looks at the bottle of pills saying the name has been scratched off. Gus says he can't believe someone would leave a bottle of pills to fall in the food. Karl asks Gus how he knows that happened. Gus says that's what it looks like. Gus runs to the fridge saying he thinks he knows what happened. He pulls out the soup container he says he took some f this to Max's before they both got sick. Karl asks Gus if he was sick too. Gus tells Karl about almost falling asleep on his bike. He tells Karl they must have fallen in the soup when he was making it. Max says he thought Gus made the soup at his place but says he made it at the pub and just heated it up at the Hoylands. Max says they've had so many casuals in the place recently it could of been any of them. Gus apologizes and Max tells him it's not his fault.
Lou and Harold are watching the bellydancers. Harold wants to know if that is all they do. Lou tells him to just keep watching. One of the bellydancers walks up to Harold and whispers in his ear and put a veil around his shoulders. Harold tries to protest but Lou tells him it's what they are there for. Harold tells Lou he hasn't danced for years he'll be rusty. Lou tells Harold the belly dancer will jog his memory.
Gus is reading out ads for houses to Izzy. He says there is one that looks good and is close the Ramsay Street so they can still help out with the kids. Summer walks in with Shadow saying Lou wasn't home. Izzy asks Max if Summer told him everything. Gus apologies to Max saying he was going to tell him about the dog but then he got sick and Summer was so attached to the puppy. Max says it's ok he's been trying to say know to Summer for years.
Harold is watching the belly dancer dance around him. He asks why he thinks she picked him
LOU: because of your washboard stomach
Lou tells Harold if he doesn't like it they can go. Harold says no she's gone to so much trouble. The belly dancer starts to take her veils off and Harold asks what happens when she's taken them all off. The belly dancer whispers in Harold's ear. Harold says it's too much and begins to cover her up with her veils.
Lou and Harold walk in talking about the fundraiser. Sky wants to know what they are talking about. Lou says Harold is a big supporter of the dingoes. Harold says that's where Paul got his start and he wants to support them. Sky wants to know if this is one of those men-only things. Harold says it was a dance thing. Sky tells them they are grose and can't believe they went. Harold tells Sky he only went for research.
LOU: Yeah and he was a good student.
Harold says it was his duty to go and research it before he rubbished it. Sky says they only went to perve on half naked women.
Karl is collecting more of his stuff. He stops and goes to the computer. He typed in Gus Cleary.
The next morning, Harold hangs up the phone for Lou and tells Sky the dog is missing. Sky says it's not missing Summer has it. Harold gives Sky her breakfast and starts fussing around her. Sky says it looks like Harold has a guilty conscience but she's been thinking about it. The women are being paid so they are not being forced to do it. So it's just a bit of harmless fun. Harold aggress. Sky says she thinks it's a good idea and she is thinking of doing it to earn the money back to pay Walter Mouse. Harold tells Sky she isn't going to do that. Sky wants to know why not. Harold tells her because she's his granddaughter. Sky says and those women last night were someone's granddaughter or mum.
Izzy and Summer walk in with Shadow. Summer tells Izzy she's going to thanks Lou for looking after the dog for her but tell him that Shadow is hers and they belong together. Lou sees Summer with the dog and walks over. He takes Shadow and hugs her. He tells them that he wasn't a dog person but this one has melted his heart. Summer notices how happy Lou is and says goodbye to the dog. She asks Lou if she can still see him. Lou says whenever she wants and she can walk the dog for him when he's busy. Lou thanks Izzy and Summer again but Izzy tells Lou it was all Summers doing.
Max gets off the phone to Karl tells Gus he was right the sample should the soup was full of sedatives. Gus holds up a book asking Boyd if this is what he's looking for. Boyd takes the book and Gus tells Boyd to say thanks. Boyd gives a half-hearted thanks. Sky walks in and Boyd says goodbye to Max.
GUS: What don't I rate a goodbye?
Gus yells after Boyd: "Boyd, a bit of respect."
Max stares at Gus and Gus tells Max he wouldn't have got away with that in his day. Sky asks Boyd why men like women who fit the mould like the blonder hair and girly clothes. Boyd tells her it's a symbol of sex but he's not saying it's right. Sky asks Boyd if he still has her old clothes, she thinks it's time she got them back. The y go to Boyd's room to get them.
Gus asks Max if wants anything to eat as he needs to keep his strength up. Max says he's fine and he's on the mend now. Gus asks Max if he's now going to kick him out. Max says no but there must be more to Gus' life than taking care of him. Gus says he'd rather be riding his bike. Max tells to go do that then and he'll be fine.
Harold is looking at a calendar with women in bathers. He throws it in the bin. Karl walks in and tries to talk to Izzy. She says he's busy. He tells her to read something he's found. Izzy says she hasn't got time. Karl tells her it's about Gus, last night he went on the internet and put in Gus' name and this came up. Izzy takes the article and reads it.
“Cleary marries for Fifth time”
Randolph Cleary OBE married Diana West today in a small civil ceremony. For Cleary, Western Australia's biggest landholder and partner of Exmouth Gas and Oil, it was his fifth marriage. Conspicuous by his absence was Gus Cleary, Randolph's son from his first marriage and only heir. Gus has not been heard of since he discharged himself from an exclusive psychiatric hospital where he was being treated for an undisclosed mental illness.
