Recap
- Stuart asks Rocco where Toadie is.
- Susan reassures Scott about school.
- Rocco reminds Sindi what she was employed as when they first met.
No 30
Stuart asks Sindi what Rocco told her, but she won't tell. She's saying that she feels he's not come to any harm, when Connor comes in and says Toadie has been home and taken some clothes and his car. Sindi again says she's sure he's safe, so that Stuart, who's positive something's up, comments that she seems to know something. She suggests it's because of her, that she's not good enough for him, so she'll pack her things and leave.
School
Scott's making a tapping noise that's disturbing the other students, until Susan asks him to stop. She has to do it again when he then starts to tap his fingers. Serena looks across and reacts by rolling her eyes to the ceiling.
No 30
Stuart shows Connor that the wrong toothbrush has been taken and that shows Toadie wasn't the one who came back for his stuff. Connor doesn't want to think about it, just insisting it's typical Toadie behaviour, but Stuart's still insistent until Connor's phone beeps and they see there's a text message from Toadie, 'Sorry to bail. Be in touch.'
Coffee Shop
Jack meets Lori and Maddy and is able to placate the baby when she cries. Lori tells him that he's a natural, whereas she herself never knows what's wrong with Maddy or what she wants. He tells her to relax as she's doing better with the baby than she thinks, but she's nervous about the meeting with Connor. However Jack says he's going with her for moral support.
Scullys'
Michelle's changing Oscar, supposedly with Connor's help, but he's totally clumsy and can't fold the nappy. He's stressed by it and says Maddy's lucky he hasn't been around as he'd have messed things up. Valda behaves very coldly towards them and looks disapproving as she overhears their conversation. Connor says he wants Michelle to come to the meeting since she has to be part of any decisions about the baby as she's always been his number one girl. She tells him everything's going to be fine, for all of them. Valda scowls at that.
Pub
Michelle tells Connor to relax. Jack and Lori arrive and the two girls each express their surprise that the other person has come. Lori says the more the merrier, but Jack and Connor snipe at one another, until she asks them to stop as that won't help anyone. Michelle offers to leave, but Connor insists he wants her there, while Jack says he's there for Lori. Connor seems a bit cross when Jack looks after Maddy, but tells Lori he's no good at it when she asks if he wants to hold her. She says that the last thing she wants is to make things difficult for anyone, but Connor is Maddy's dad and she thought he might want to be part of her life. He says 'yes, absolutely' but looks far from convinced.
School
Susan's struggling with an unresponsive class, trying to get a comment about an article they've read. Scott surprises her, once she allows him to answer, by giving a very good answer although his unusual language is makes the others laugh. Serena tells him afterwards that he was really good today, but he answers sarcastically that she shouldn't be seen talking to him and won't listen to her protests. He goes off after saying that her reputation's safe with him as he won't tell anyone she knows him.
Pub
Lyn, Valda and Oscar are at a table across from Jack, Michelle, Connor and Lori. Valda tells Lyn they shouldn't go over but they do and Lyn raves about how beautiful Maddy is. When Michelle asks when Lori's heading back to New Zealand, Lori says it depends on Connor. He's puzzled by that so she explains that if he wants to play an active father role for Maddy, they'll stay in Erinsborough. He looks nervous and Michelle looks stricken.
School
Sindi asks Susan where Scott is and breaks down when Susan sees something's wrong and asks why she needs to see him. Sindi tells her about Toadie's disappearance and cries that it's all her fault. She confesses that when she met Rocco she was an exotic dancer and she feels that Toadie has run off because Rocco has told him and he can't handle it. Susan replies that she doesn't hate her, that lots of people have done something in their past to pay the rent. She tells Sindi she's sure that Toadie loves her and will be back, because he's made a commitment to her and also to Scott in front of the magistrate. When she tells Sindi that she needs to look after herself and finds that she has nowhere to live, she tells her she can come and stay at No 28.
Scullys'
Connor talks to Michelle about his feelings about Maddy, that she's a person and is his and he has to make this big decision. He says he'd always thought that he'd live back in Erinsborough with Michelle and start a family, but now it's complicated. He wonders whether it will affect Maddy if he's not involved in her life. What would happen for example if Lori meets someone? Michelle points out that he has to come up with a straight answer, but he wishes that Lori would do that for him, as it's too big for him.
School
Scott races to see Sindi and Susan, really happy that in one famously boring class he even concentrated for a minute and a half. He stops when he sees their unresponsive faces and asks if he's done something wrong. Sindi says that no, it's her fault, but Toadie has gone away and they're not sure when he'll be back. Scott rushes off making out he doesn't care, after refusing Susan's offer for him to come and stay with her.
Pub
Lori tells Jack that her mother takes over with Maddy and keeps pointing out to her whenever she's going wrong, which is all the time. She needs her mother to keep her on the right track but has been made to feel she's no good at mothering. He points out that she's really good with the baby, but her parents are wrecking her confidence and she went to London to escape them in the first place, so she should make the break again. She says that she'll have to see what Connor says, as she can't do it with her parents, but she can't do it alone either. He says she wouldn't be alone because he'd be with her every step of the way.
Scullys'
Lyn's a bit cool with Valda and tells her eventually that she's really worried about her attitude to Michelle, because she should be gracious about Michelle's decision not to return to New York. She points out that it was done with a lot of agonising and a relationship to consider. Valda's scornful of Michelle for throwing in the New York opportunity, when she had the world at her feet, for a relationship 'with that young man' and when Lyn calls her views outrageous, replies that it's outrageous that Connnor gave Lori a baby and is making Michelle pay the price emotionally. Jack's involved himself in the situation so is likely to be hurt too. Valda then accuses Lyn of just wanting Michelle home with her - does she really think that life with Connor in Erinsborough is the best Michelle can do? Lyn just looks upset.
Outside Rocco's garage/warehouse
Rocco's henchman says they didn't quite carry the plan through. Rocco asks whether Toadie didn't think being driven to Adelaide in the boot of a car and left there with no wallet or money was funny. The henchman tells him that they put Toadie in the boot and he was shaken up pretty well, but then they 'kind of had an accident'.
Coffee Shop
Michelle joins Lori and tells her she's being unfair by having Connor make this decision whether she should go back to New Zealand, as he'll look like the bad guy if he sends her. Lori says it would mean he didn't want to have anything to do with his own daughter. Michelle tells her she chose to have Maddy. Lori listens, then says she's tired of being painted as 'the bad guy' because Connor was the one who wanted the baby and before she left he'd virtually asked her to marry him.
