Recap
Jack discussing becoming a builder with Lyn and Joe.
Connor telling the policeman Stu is joining the force.
Mal backing over Audrey.
Vet's
Karl rushes in with Audrey in a blanket, followed by Susan, Mal and Toadie. The vet takes Audrey and everyone sits down and waits. Mal apologises for running over Audrey. Susan tells hi it's not his fault and she can't believe Audrey made it all the way back from Adelaide. Toadie says he can't believe Scruffy was Audrey. Susan says it's a miracle and now Audrey just needs another one.
House of Trouser
Stuart is looking through the paper and spots an ad for the police open day. Connor comes in with pizza he sees the ad in the paper and comments that Stu must be getting desperate. Connor calls Toadie and Stu tell him he's not home. The phone rings and Stu and Connor 'rock, paper, scissors' for it. Stu looses and answers the phone.
Scullys
Lyn is bathing Oscar. Jack comes in and asks Lyn if she wants him to fix the chest of drawers that have been sitting in the garage. He says he wants to do a good job so Joe might think about taking him into the business. Lyn suggest jack might be better off working for another builder to get his apprenticeship then he could work with Joe as she's not sure Joe feels about it. Jack reminds her that when He was a kid Scully and Son was Joe's dream and all he ever talked about. Lyn tells Jack when he went to play soccer Joe had to give up that dream, he was disappointed but he got over it and was very proud of his son the professional footballer. Jack says lots has changed and this is what he really wants. Lyn tells Jack that working with his dad takes a lot of commitment.
Vet's
Susan, Karl, Mal, Toadie, Stuart are waiting in the waiting area. Karl says he can't believe no one recognised her. Toadie says she was skinnier and darker. Susan says that was dirt. Mal, Toadie and Stu go to get a coffee. Susan wants to know what is taking so long. Karl puts his hand on Susan's shoulder and tells her it will be ok. Susan asks Karl why he was coming home at 2am with Izzy, and Lyn saw them. Karl says it was innocent, just a few drinks and he'll explain later. The vet comes out saying she's ok but they are keeping her in overnight incase she has internal bleeding and she'll call if anything changes. Susan starts to worry about Audrey and Karl puts his arm around her telling her she'll be fine.
Hoylands
Sky and Boyd are looking for something to do. Boyd says it's there's last day of freedom before they have to go back to school and they should do something off the wall. Sky says she's keeping an eye on Harold this morning and he's off the wall enough for both of them. Boyd says he'll walk Sky home.
Kennedys
Karl, Susan and Mal come home with Audrey who has a pink bandage on her leg. Karl is on the phone to Libby telling her Audrey is going to be alright. Susan and Mal make a bed of Audrey on the couch. Susan asks Karl to sit with Audrey so she can warm up the left over casserole. Karl asks Susan if she's going to feed her on the couch. Susan says she fed Karl on the couch when he was sick. Karl says Audrey's a messier eater than he is. Susan and Mal joke about Karl eating watermelon and Susan says last year she made Karl eat his watermelon under the sprinkler.
Police Academy
Stu is at the open day he looks at some brochures Constable Margaret Clarke asks Stu if he is looking for the information booth,. Stuart says no he's just leaving. The Constable asks if it was something she said. Stuart says it's just not for him. The constable say she is about to tale a group for a tour and he should come along, there's no obligation to join.
Coffee Shop
Sky walks in telling Boyd Lil and David are watching Harold and she isn't needed. Sky talks about how everything has changed at home and how different Harold is and the way Serena is treating her. Boyd suggests Sky stay at his house for the night just to get away from it all. Sky tells Boyd to keep dreaming as there is no way Max will agree. Boyd tells her Max will cool with it.
Hoylands
Max says no, Sky spends half her life at their place. Boyd says it's just for one night. Max replies it's for non nights. Boyd tells Max it's not what he thinks, Sky is really unhappy and they're not going to do anything. Max says he'll think about it. Mal Kennedy comes over. Izzy answers the door. Max asks Mal if he's met Izzy. Mal says he didn't know she lived there. Mal tells Max he's going to sell the house. Max says he's interested in buying it and would he be prepared to look at an offer. Mal looks at Izzy ands tells Max he can make a bid at auction.
Police Academy
The Constable is showing everyone around. Stuart asks her if she's ever had to fire her gun. She says no and there have been officers that have been in the force for 25yrs and have never had to either. Stuart asks her why she joined the force. The constable says she was a wild child and met a young officer her helped her through a bad patch.
Scullys
Jack is out the front struggling with the chest of draws. Lyn brings him out some lunch. Lyn offers to help Jack but he says it's his project and he wants to do it one his own. Jack is about to use the hammer and Lyn stops him telling him he's got the bottom of the draw the wrong way round. Lyn suggests a few more things then leaves.
Kennedys
Karl is standing in the garden staring out into space. Mal comes out saying he's packed and ready to go. Malcolm say's it's good that Karl seems to be reconsidering things and the way he and Susan handled the situation with Audrey shows how in tune they are and he wishes he and Catherine got on as well. Karl asks him to drop it.
Police Academy
Stuart asks the Constable when the next intake is. She says soon and she can give him a hand filling in the form. Stuart tells her he's made a lot of mistakes in his life recently so he has to make sure the next one is the right one. The constable says if it helps the force is keen on people who have lived a little as it makes them more sympathetic to the battlers.
Scullys
Jack has finished the chest of draws. Lyn says he's done a great job. Joe walks in and straight passed them. Lyn calls Joe back. Joe looks at them and says they are ok. Jack asks him what he's done wrong. Joe comments on the paint being patchy, the bottom draw sticking and it's missing some handles. Jack tells him he hasn't had a chance to go to the hardware store yet. Joe tells him it's not bad for a home Reno job
Hoylands
Steph is lying on the couch reading a motor magazine, Max is looking at his finances. Max says he can't believe Mal wouldn't even look at an offer.
STEPH: What, does that mean we're not in the running?
MAX: What to buy the house?
STEPH: Yeah
MAX: No, No, No. we can still take our chances at auction. We might even get the place for a song or it could go to a stranger but don't worry I'll keep chasing him. See if I can't change his mind.
STEPH: (shifting on the couch) Geez. You know, I don't know how Sky's going to manage to sleep on this thing all night.
MAX: Not my department. The kids ask...the kids receive
STEPH: Oh well, I guess there won't be that much sleeping going on anyway.
MAX: What do you mean by that?
STEPH: Max when your boyfriend or girlfriend stay over the night, you spend most of the night sneaking around in the dark remember?
MAX: You might have, I didn't
STEPH: Pull the other one
MAX: No, I spent my teenage years at a boarding school
STEPH: Oh that's right you did to. Oh well, you'll be in for a few surprises then
MAX: Like what?
Steph gets up and puts her arms around Max
STEPH: Max, you know it's almost compulsory that as soon as the parentals go to bed you start sneaking off into each others rooms and...
MAX: Go on
STEPH: You PASH for hours until your lips burn.
Steph kisses Max, Max looks worried and Steph laughs.
Scullys
Lyn tells Joe Jack went to a lot of trouble to impress him. Joe says he told Jack it was a good job. Lyn says "for a home Reno" and Joe pointed out every mistake Jack made. Joe says Jack asked for his opinion and it's nothing to what his apprentices cop everyday and if Jack can't take some mild criticism he won't last long on the building site. Lyn tells Joe he can't keep pushing Jack away.
Kennedys
Susan and Karl come home saying she can't get used to saying goodbye to the kids and it's the empty house that does it.
SUSAN: I think this might be a good time to talk don't you?
KARL: Guess we have to.
Susan says she wants to go first. Susan tells Karl she really missed him. She thought she'd be too busy to miss him while she was away but she did. She apologizes for not being understanding about the drinking and she knows nothing is going on with Izzy. Susan says she'll do anything to get through this rough patch.
SUSAN: The truth is, for better, for worse, I love you.
Karl gets up and hugs her.
KARL: I love you too.
SUSAN: Uh,darling...
Karl pulls away.
KARL: Susan, I'm sorry I can't keep doing this. Oh, I can't keep lying. This is going to sound horrible but I have to be honest with you, it's the only way I know how to put it. I didn't miss you. I mean, ofcourse I missed you, you're my best friend but I didn't miss you the way you missed me. I liked having extra space. You know, the quiet time to think. I liked being on my own and in fact I need more of it.
SUSAN: So we're back to that are we, I'm crowding you is that it?
KARL: This is nothing to do with you.
SUSAN: Nothing to do with me.
KARL: You know what I mean.
SUSAN: No, Karl I don't have any idea what you want.
KARL: I want a trial separation.
