Recap
- Rocco discovers Toadie and Connor are Lou's boys.
- Edwina tells Taj to stop messing her about.
- Steph tells Jack she's not going to have chemo as she wants to die with dignity.
Outside Lou's Place in the rain
STEPH: I wonder what's up there?
JACK: More rain!
Steph says she means after life, and starts joking about what might happen to people and where they go. She's heard the parties are better in base-house than the penthouse. Jack doesn't like the subject though as it freaks him out. She apologises, telling him that he doesn't have to play bodyguard. But he tells her wants to hang out with her as that's what you do when you love somebody.
Number 26
Jack arrives home in the morning, to find Susan just leaving. Joe asks him where he's been and he tells him he stayed the night at Steph and Libby's. Joe tells him to cut with the excuse of being at Steph's all the time, but Jack tells him that's the reason. Joe tells him that he knows he's missed important exams at school, but won't listen to Jack saying he'll make up next time. He tells him that from now on school comes first and that Steph has her own life to live.
Coffee Shop
Jack arrives and Connor tries to make conversation with him, but fails. Jack orders his coffee and goes to sit by Edwina, asking to talk. She gives him 30 seconds. He admits to being a complete jerk and apologises, asking for forgiveness. She asks what's turned it all around and he tells her he's had a different perspective on life. He takes his coffee and leaves. Jack meets Taj on the way out and tells him to go for it with Edwina; Taj thanks him.
Number 26
Lyn regrets not being able to remember Oscar's christening due to her post-natal depression. Joe mentions how the wife of one of his mates at the building site suffered it too, but ended up in hospital for the whole time. Lyn seems upset that Joe was discussing it at work, but Joe tells her it's a medical illness just like diabetes or appendicitis, and if she had one of them she wouldn't hide it in the same way. Lyn begins to agree, admitting that there's no need to hide.
Coffee Shop
Taj asks Edwina if they can be friends. She asks if it's to do with Jack, because when she told him the previous evening she thought they were going for truth and that he wouldn't judge her. He admits that now he sees things differently, but she asks why they can't forget the past. He tells her he doesn't want to forget.
Lou's Place
Connor and Toadie watch Lou battle with the dodgy coffee machine, burning himself on the steam for yet another time. As Lou curses out loud, Rocco arrives, dropping a letter on the bar.
ROCCO: Who's responsible?
LOU: Umm... he wrote that (points at Toadie)
TOADIE: He made me.
ROCCO: And I suppose Irish here, licked the envelope.
Lou asks if they can't just do a simple return on the item, but Rocco tells them how if someone makes a complaint against an item he sold, he takes it personally.
Number 28
Joe has gathered Harold, Gino, Susan and Karl around and is telling them about Lyn's PND. He tells them how she's finally opening up to it and thanks to Karl the day to day side of it is slowly improving. Gino and Harold are surprised to hear about it, as she's covered it so well, and offer their babysitting services, as does Susan. Karl tells them she needs as much time with Oscar as she can, but Joe has a brainwave!
Lou's Place
Rocco teaches Lou that to get the coffee machine to work he has to treat it like he would a lady, with delicacy and respect. At first Lou is too 'rough' but he is eventually able to make the perfect coffee. Rocco asks Toadie if he'd like a go, but Toadie tells him he was just respecting his client's wishes when he wrote the letter. Rocco tells him that he has good qualities and asks him to become his legal advisor. Toadie sees no way out and is instructed to meet him later.
Ramsay Street
Joe waits outside their house and meets Lyn as she returns with Oscar from a walk. She asks him what the grin on his face is about and he admits that he has a surprise for her. She asks if it's one of those home garden make-over shows, but he gets her to close her eyes and opens the door. Nearly half the residents of Ramsay Street (those contracted for the episode anyway) are inside. Joe explains how she said she couldn't remember the first christening so he's throwing her another one.
Number 26
Lyn thanks Karl for coming and for the cake; which he claims he made himself (though is clearly straight out of a box with all it's fancy chocolate swirly decorations). Gino tries to get a cuddle with Oscar from Lou, but Susan sneaks in and takes him. Lyn tells them that they've all done too much for her. Steph sneaks out to the kitchen; Karl notices and follows. He asks her if she's had any more thoughts about the chemo, but Harold is starting a speech so she tells him to leave it and they return.
HAROLD: Now um.. The birth of a child, as we all know, is a truly joyous event, and the christening of that child, well it marks the spiritual journey that he'll take through life, and of course we all know don't we, that his journey is going to be filled with love and laughter, there's going to be triumphs, there's going to be excitement, there's going to be adventure, eh? (Harold chuckles) And if there are any obstacles to be come across, well ok, we can just pass those by, by, by trusting the support of the people that we truly love, and might I say, to be involved in one christening is quite a privilage, but to celebrate that christening twice, well it really is an honour.
They toast.
Number 30
Connor reminds Toadie that he was supposed to be at Rocco's ten minutes ago, but agrees going late he'll only get one leg chopped of rather than two with a no show.
TOADIE: Is that my paper you're reading?
CONNOR: Yes, but don't worry, you're not listed on the funeral pages just yet!
There's a knock at the door. It's Rocco, and he isn't happy that Toadie is running late. Toadie asks how he found him, and Rocco explains he was the only Rebecchi in the phone book. Toadie starts to waffle, but Rocco tells him to get to the point. He tells him he can't do the work. Rocco threatens him about betraying the family, so Toadie agrees to do a piece of work for him.
Number 26
In the bedroom, Lyn finishes changing Oscars nappy and sings Incy Wincy Spider to him, as she finishes she begins to cry.
Back in the lounge the others are all mingling. Lyn creeps back through and tells Joe how she just had a breakthrough with Oscar liked they'd talked about at the counselling sessions. Susan sees Joe and Lyn celebrating and asks what's going on. Lyn explains how when she was changing Oscar she suddenly had all these feelings for him that she'd never felt before. They propose another toast. Steph goes to give Lyn a hug before politely leaving; Lyn comments that they never have much time to talk anymore. As she leaves, Jack chases her out the door, while Joe watches on.
Ramsay Street
Jack chases Steph outside and tells her that she should go back inside and tell them the truth, or else he will. She reminds him how he promised, but Jack tells her that was a mistake and what she's doing now is a mistake. Joe stops them mid-argument, demanding to know what is going on.
