Lyn is yelling at Joe to hurry up, and he walks out carrying two rather large bags. She tells him she's not going to have the baby today and goes off to find some toothpaste. Joe is muttering to himself and puts the bags down just as his back seizes up.
The Coffee Shop:
Lou is going off to town to do some shopping and asks Harold if he wants to tag along. Harold says he can't because Afro Harold™ has a gig at Eden Hills University. Nina then walks in and Lou asks her “are you switched on by Afro Harold™?” Harold looks a bit embarrassed and Nina looks back and for between them, unsure of how to answer the question.
Lyn tells Joe that she needs to go and see Charlie now, otherwise she'll never do it. Joe says he's just concerned about her going by herself. Jack offers to go with her, but Lyn tells them she needs to this by herself.
The Coffee Shop:
Nina is looking through the contract Melody gave her. Jack asks her what her parents said, she tells him they don't know and won't know. Jack offers to take another look at the contract.
Lyn is standing next to the car and talking on the phone to road service people and they put her on hold again. Valda drives up in Lou's car and tells Lyn that she doesn't want her to do this alone. Lyn apparently realising she has no choice agrees to hitch a ride with her.
Valda comes up to Lyn and tells her that Charlie's there. In room 305. She offers to go first and talk to Charlie first, but Lyn tells her she needs to hear what he has to say first.
Lyn walks into the room and Charlie is lying down with his eyes closed. When he realises someone is in there he starts ranting to her about how he's been waiting for half an hour for someone to come and check up on him. When she doesn't say anything he asks her if she's lost, but tells her he can't help her even if she was. Lyn rushes out of the room.
Lyn tells Valda about Charlie thinking that she worked at the hospital and then says she's going home. Valda tells her she can't and Lyn says “Watch me.” Valda stops her and tells her she has to deal with this now. She gets Lyn to sit down and try to calm down while she goes off to sort Mr Cassidy.
Valda walks into the room and Charlie starts ranting again. But quietens down when he sees her.
The Coffee Shop:
Jack has finished reading through the contract and Nina signs it. He asks her about her parents signatures and she says that's not a problem and signs for them herself. Jack tells her that's forgery and Nina starts mimicking her parents' reactions to her wanting to sign the contract. In the end she tells him they'd take too long and she's lose her opportunity.
Henry is sulking over some beer. Jack tells him that Lyn is doing what she has to do and Henry tells him that when she'll hate him when she gets back. Jack invites him back to the Scully's. Henry hesitates, but agrees eventually.
Charlie asks Valda if she every got married, she says she didn't because Mr Right didn't find her. She then tells him who the woman was he was just having a go at and tells him to be civil this time.
Jack and Henry arrive at the Scully's and Joe looks a bit surprised. Nina and Henry go off to make sandwiches and Joe tells Jack that Lyn probably won't like the idea of Henry being there.
Valda promises Lyn this time will be better and opens the door for her. Lyn slowly walks in and Charlie asks her why she didn't tell him who she was. He asks her if she's happy and she says “mostly.” She asks him why he did what he did and he says he was young and didn't have much choice in the matter. He tells her people are not who they seem and Lyn asks which people, but the nurse comes in and asks her to leave for a while.
Eden Hills University (I presume):
Harold gets up on stage and seems to have made a positive impression on the people at the Uni with his use of cool words such as ‘groovy' and ‘funky' and a bit of body movement as well.
A Wharf Somewhere:
Lyn is asking Valda what Charlie meant by the decision not being his, and Valda tells her it was his parents. They didn't like her. Valda tells Lyn how she feels about Charlie. That he was spineless and let his parents walk all over him.
Eden Hills University:
Some of the students are taking pictures with Harold. Harold tells Lou he is happy that he is finally in a position to offer them (his loving audience) some guidance.
Joe tells Henry that everything will sort itself out. That he won't get thrown out onto the streets. He also tells Henry there is more to being a father then DNA.
Charlie tells Lyn to let the past be. Lyn and Valda are just about to leave when he tells them that he only has a few months left. He tells Lyn that if she wants the truth, he'll give it to her, but he can't guarantee she'll thank him afterwards.
