The Pub
Valda is waiting for Lou so they can go home. Just as they are about to leave, Lyn walks in and asks to talk with Valda. Lou makes himself scarce and Lyn then asks Valda about her father, Charlie. She wants to contact him. Valda tells Lyn it's not a good idea and Lyn gets defensive and says that Valda doesn't know what she's going through. Valda fires back and says that she is having a hard time regardless of what Lyn thinks of her. Finally she agrees, but only if she can tell Lyn how she feels about the whole situation. Lyn reluctantly sits down.
Toadie's
Dee screams and Toadie runs out and asks what's wrong. He is soon followed by Angie. Dee manages to say "the date" as she hands Toadie a copy of the invites. Angie tells her to calm down and tell them what's wrong with the date. Dee tells them it's wrong and that their guests will be arriving at the wedding two weeks after the wedding. She then blames Toadie, saying that it is his fault and they start arguing. Angie tells them to shut up in a much more polite motherly fashion and tries to calm Dee down. She sends her off to the kitchen to put the kettle on. After she's left Angie swings around and tells Toadie that they have to be supportive, that he has to be supportive. Toadie tells her that Dee is driving them nuts and Angie defends Dee by saying she has every right to want her wedding to be perfect.
The Pub
Lyn asks Valda where she can find Charlie. Valda again tells her to think hard about what she's doing before "charging in". Lyn asks what his last name is and Valda tells him it's Cassidy. Charlie Cassidy. She reiterates that Lyn might not like him and tells her it's not going to be a fairytale. Lyn tells her she doesn't expect it to be. It hasn't been so far. Lyn asks her when she last saw Charlie and Valda tells her it was a long time ago. She tells Lyn that Charlie rejected her once and she doesn't want Lyn to get hurt again. Lyn says she wants to give him the chance to explain why. Valda tells her that if she thinks he is going to be regretful, "she's got another thing coming". Lyn again asks where to find him and Valda buckles and finally tells her that she last heard he was setting up a fishing business in Shellybay (sp? Yes, I know... I'm a shameless Aussie. ) but that was 20 years ago and that he's probably moved on since then. Valda tells her to give herself time to think and Lyn leaves saying she's wasted enough time.
The Coffee Shop
Henry and Valda are having a coffee together. He has moved into Lassiter's. Valda tells him about the previous night. Henry is far from happy about the whole idea and decides to go and talk Lyn out of trying to contact Charlie. Valda tells him it's useless, but he says he has to try anyway and leaves.
Scullys
Lyn is using the laptop to find Charlie's contact details. Joe and Steph are trying to be caring and considerate but only seem to irk Lyn more. She tells them that she needs to find Charlie and that a little understanding from them would be nice. Steph tells her they are just looking out for her. Lyn is telling her that they don't need to do that, just as she finds Charlie's details. Joe points out that there are 20 or 30 Cassidy's listed there, but Lyn picks out one C.Cassidy, Shellybay (sorry again about spelling if I'm wrong). She tells Joe that "This is it. I'm I'm sure of it."
Back at the Scullys
Lyn is standing with the phone in hand. She's ready to dial the number, but Steph and Joe are lingering and asking her what's she's going to say. Lyn tells them that she'll say hello and then she'll ask if the person asnwering the phone is Charlie Cassidy. The she'll say her name is Lyn Scully. Steph tells her that he is not even going to know who she is and Lyn tells her that she'll explain. Steph asks her how she can explain something like that just out of the blue and Lyn tells her she doesn't know that's why she just wants to do it. Just as she starts dialing the number someone knocks on the door and Joe says he'll try and get rid of whoever it is. Except it's Henry. He tells her that Valda told him that Lyn was going to contact Charlie. Lyn tells him it's her business. Joe and Steph leave and Lyn then tells Henry that she's got a right to know her father. He agrees, he just wants to her to think about it. To talk about it.
Toadie's
Angie and Dee are on the phone talking to various people about the date error. Toadie is trying to be quite as he talks to Bob and Dee tells him that she can see he's trying to sneak off. He tells her he has to go to work so she should cut him some slack. She tells him that he has a suit fitting at 4:45 and if he forgets she'll never talk to him again.
Scullys
Lyn tells Henry that she is not doing this out of spite. She just has to know where she's coming from. Henry once again tells her that he and Connie thought and loved her as their own. She tries to explain to him that she has to know Charlie. Not just for herself, but also for her kids. She tells him that she is not expecting any fantasy happy ending, she just needs to look into his face to know who she is.
Erinsborough High
Libby is asking her class a whole heap of questions about some movie her class has apparently seen five times, but Taj is the only one who is answering the questions. They start talking about one of the characters who is "boxed in". Libby argues that she might like her lifestyle and Taj disagrees saying that no one would choose such a repressive lifestyle. He tells her that everyone wants to break out. Even she does.
Scullys
Lyn tells Joe that she feels rotten for asking Henry to leave. Joe tells her he'll understand. He picks up the phone and Charlie's contact number and tells Lyn that "if we're gonna do this thing, let's get it done." She tells him he is right and says she has got to call Charlie before she loses her nerve. Joe tells her he'll be in the kitchen and leaves Lyn to dial the number. She says Hello, she asks if the person on the line (with the chipmunks' voice) is Charlie Cassidy. She introduces herself and after a few misnderstandings, she tells him that she is Valda's daughter and that he might be her father.
Back at the Scullys...again
Lyn hangs up and walks into the kitchen. She tells Joe that Charlie is coming to Erinsborough tonight and that they are meeting at the pub. They start laughing. Well chuckling.
The Pub
Toadie comes in and asks for a beer. Lou tells him he looks worn out and Toadie tells him "it's better then the way I feel." Lou asks if it has something to do with the date mix up and Toadie tells him that Dee has been calling him all day just yell at him. The phone rings and it's Dee. She asks if Toadie is there and much to Toadie's dismay Lou says he is. She asks him if he went to the tailor and Toadie says he has. And then tells her he'll be back home soon. After he hangs up he asks Lou if it's wrong for him to lie to his future wife and Lou tells him he'd better get used to it. "It's the only way to survive." Lyn and Joe walk in and Lyn is immediately having second thoughts about the whole idea. Joe tries to reassure her by telling her it is Valda's night off and it's too late to change anyway. Lyn seems to very nervous and says that after all these years of not even knowing about him... It's just weird.
Toadie's
Toadie walks in holding a bunch of flowers and asking if anyone is around. He walks into the living room not seeing Dee who is sitting behind him, seething. She jumps up and tells him that she knows he didn't go to the tailor's and she starts ranting on about him lying to her and that he'll lie to her after they're married too. Angie then walks in wearing a pink-ish outfit and a hat. She tells them that with the help of Valda she bought it for the wedding. Dee starts telling her how it will clash with the rest of the clothes and that the colour is hideous. Angie snaps and tells her that Dee can get away with telling Toadie what to do, but she can't tell her (Angie) what do. Or wear. Meanwhile Toadie after being told to shut up is just sitting down on the sofa while the two women in his life argue it out.
The Pub
A few customers are walking out and Joe and Lyn are still waiting. Lyn tells him that this is silly and that she should've given Charlie more time to think about it. Joe tells her they'll wait a bit longer. She tells him they've been waiting for hours and he's not coming. Valda then walks in and straight up to Lou who tells her what's happening. She walks up to Lyn, who says she's come to say "I told you so." Valda says she so sorry and that Charlie doesn't deserve to know her. Lyn quickly gets up and she and Joe leave.
Toadie's
Toadie tells Angie that Dee is dozing and that she should fall asleep soon. He tries to excuse Dee's behaviour by saying that she hasn't been sleeping much lately. He tells her that she's right about being supportive. He's just looking forward to after the wedding when Dee is back to normal. He asks if Angie was like that for her wedding as well and Angie says no she wasn't. She further tells him that "if there are anymore dramas or tanties, well you're on your own boy".
Scullys
Lyn and Joe arrive back home and Steph asks how it went. Joe tells her he didn't show up. Lyn tells her that Valda is right and Charlie is very selfish. In the back ground the phone is ringing. Lyn continues her rant about Charlie. Steph says that maybe he had car trouble or something like that. And Lyn says it could be but she knows it isn't. Lyn repeats to herself that she doesn't care, when Joe interrupts and tells her to not say anything. He tells her that was the matron from Shellybay hospital and took Charlie in after an emphasema attack. He's OK, he just wanted them to let Lyn know as soon as possible.
