Recap
- Dee and Toadie politely telling Angie to back off.
- Connor telling Lou he just wants to be Lori's friend.
- Joe telling Lyn she needs to face her issues.
Kennedys Backyard
Lori is standing in the backyard staring at Cassie. Karl comes out and asks her if she wants a drink refill. He looks at Cassie. I suppose that would be quite a familiar sight to you. Sorry? A sheep! Being from New Zullund and all. Lori tries to smile. Sorry, cheap shot. Lori tells him that she saw the counsellor, and she's not coping. Karl puts his arm around her shoulders for a hug. He asks if she's spoken to the father, and she says he'll stand by her. Karl then says they'll have to make a big decision. Lori uncertainly says she's made it. Karl looks surprised. Well, I'm glad. Lori looks scared. So am I.
The Scullys
Lyn's getting worried because Henry hasn't called her back, and it's been three hours. She decides to change the subject, and tells Joe that Gino is still talking about being a godfather. Joe's not convinced even though Lyn says he's fun and full of energy. He doesn't think Gino would be right because he doesn't have kids of his own...and doesn't measure up to Joe's standards - which include; someone who's a friend, trustworthy, has kids of their own. Lyn says they should be keen to take on a responsibilty in case something happens to them. Joe says that the baby will be fine with three older sisters and an older brother. Lyn smiles and says, She's got six parents really, then her smile fades. Joe says Lyn should really give Henry another call.
Number 30
Toadie has come home early from work. Dee and Angie are sitting in the kitchen. Dee tells Toadie about the night market that's on, and they should go and do some shopping there and grab a bite to eat. Angie gets up to go for a walk saying they shouldn't wait for her, You two just do what you want. Dee and Toadie look confused. The phone rings, and Toadie answers. It's his dad.
The Scullys
Lyn's still worried about Henry, and she says that he can't be at his neighbours because they're having a fight. There's a knock at the door. Karl comes in with a book for Joe called 'Radical Parenting'. It's about the pros and cons of being a full-time, at home parent. Joe's not convinced because a Yank wrote it. He grabs the book off Karl as Lyn walks in thanking him, and offers him a coffee. He can't stay though, he has to pick up ben from creché. He tells Joe to drop the book back when he's finished, but Joe has become engrossed in it. Karl leaves. Joe starts spouting facts from the book to Lyn, but she is more interested in talking about what a nice man Karl is - godfather material, even. Joe doesn't want top hear it.
JOE: Anyone but Karl...and Gino!
LYN: Will you stop thinking about yourself, and start thinking about this little baby girl?
JOE: I am thinking about this little girl, as if she wants a flippin' know-it-all for a godfather!
LYN: (Under her breath) She doesn't need one, she's got one for a father.
JOE: Yeah exactl-...?
Joe says he can see Susan as a godparent, but not Karl. Lyn loses patience, and goes to water the garden. He tells her another fact from the book, but she's unimpressed.
Number 30
Kev angrily tells Toadie that Angie sold the campervan to pay for the wedding, and promptly hangs up on him. Dee's shocked at the news. Toadie says that apparently they've lived their dream, and now they want to give them a picturebook wedding. Dee's horrified that they sold it, and feels awful. Toadie says that he's going to have to beg for forgiveness from Angie, but Dee has her 'I have an idea' face on and says there might be another way.
In the street
Connor is walking back from the shops, and Lori runs up to him wanting to talk. She tells him that she made an appointment for tomorrow morning. Connor seems a little stunned. He asks if she doesn't need a little more time to think about it, but she hastily says no. Connor says he can give her a lift if she wants. Lori looks a bit unsure and worried.
The Pub
Angie is off-loading all her troubles on Karl, telling him about Toadie and Dee, and selling the campervan. She says that she'll let them make their own mistakes, and she'll just smile and nod. Karl tries to add some things in, but Angie keeps talking over him. Thanks for that Karl! Your advice was just right. Karl looks slightly bewildered.
Number 30
Dee and Toadie hear Angie come in and start talking about the wedding menu, loudly. They go all out saying that they'll serve up a BBQ with snags, chops and chips, Food people can relate to! Angie starts to get twitchy. Dee then says they should go the whole hog and have paper plates, cutlery and cups (paper?) Angie looks at them in disbelief, and says that the wedding meal is the most important meal they'll have, and they can't serve snags. Dee nods. Yeah...What about grilled fish and baked potatoes, that's a bit more gourmet! Listen, did I bring you up or drag you up? Angie asks Toadie. She says it's got to be classy. Dee says that they'd really appreciate her advice. Angie thinks that they're having her on, but they convince her otherwise knowing that they've got the old Angie back. They apologise for shutting her out.
The Kennedys
Lori is sitting on the couch in her pyjamas. She leans her head back to rest it, looking conflicted. The scene merges into...
Number 30
Connor laying in bed, wide awake. He looks deep in thought.
(Morning)
Angie gets off the phone with Kev. He told her that he told Dee and Toadie about selling the campervan. She's aggravated. Dee and Toadie come in the kitchen making small talk with Angie, but they can sense she's annoyed at something. She testily informs them that she knows they know about the campervan. This was the reason you're being so nice to me isn't it? Because you heard I was going to pay for the wedding. They try to tell her it's not like that, but Angie gets upset and says she's packing her bags and leaving. She storms out. Dee and Toadie look at each other in a 'What the heck happened there' manner.
The Scullys
Joe is rinsing a piece of burnt toast under the sink to stop it from stinking up the house. Lyn's more worried about Henry, thinking he may have had a fall, but Joe reminds her that Meals on Wheels goes there every day. Lyn thinks that it might be a sign that she shouldn't say anything. She realises that she has Henry's neighbour's phone number somewhere, and goes off to find it.
Number 30 driveway
Connor and Lori are sitting in Connor's Ute, ready to leave, but not wanting to. Lou comes down his driveway to check his mail, and spots them in the car. Connor asks Lori if she's sure about what they're going to do. Lori unconvincingly says yes. They put their seatbelts on. Lou looks on in concern. Karl comes out of the house to check his mail, and sees them in the car. Connor drives off leaving Karl looking on, worried.
Number 30
Angie is trying to lug her suitcase down the hallway, but Toadie tells her to come in the kitchen. She says she hasn't got time, but Toadie says Sit! loudly causing Bob to sit down quick smart along with them. He says that she can be overbearing but he loves her, and wants her to be part of the wedding - but they don't want to take her money. The money means nothing. Dee and Toadie want to pay for everything themselves, and Angie should keep the money for her and Kev's own dreams. All is well again, and Angie draws them in for a group hug.
The Scullys
Bert, Henry's neighbour, says that he's fine but they're still fighting. He also told Lyn that Henry is on his way to the Scullys and should be there mid-morning. Lyn wonders what she'll do and how she'll cope. Joe says that she'll be strong and face up to it.
The Clinic
Connor and Lori pull up. Lori gets out, the contents of her handbag spilling everywhere. Connor comes around to help, but Lori snaps at him saying it's fine. She apologises, and starts to walk to the clinic.
CONNOR: Lori, are we doing the right thing?
LORI: We?
CONNOR: Yes, we. You don't have to go through with this you know.
LORI: Connor, the last thing I need is a lecture about what's right and what's wrong.
CONNOR: I'm not talkin' about that. I'm talkin' about us, you and me. We could make this work, I know we could.
Lori doesn't know what to say.
