Darcy tells Sindi to stay away from Toadie, but she says she won't. Dee cuts a conversation between Toadie and Sindi, and tells him it's time they sorted things out.
Toadie asks for his phone back, but Dee tells him to stop advertising the fact that they are no longer dating by having pointless phone calls with Sindi. He tells her to stop being so embarrassing, but Dee tells him they should take it outside, or perhaps he should check his diary first.
Dee asks if their relationship meant anything to them, as she thought they would be getting married and having kids. Toadie reminds her that he wasn't the one hiding a past marriage, or running back to Darcy and then covering the evidence. Dee tells him he wasn't much lower by running to the first girl that came along. A few more accusations fly around before Dee walks off.
Alex and Steph are drifting down a river in a canoe. Alex asks Steph if she prefers what they're doing now, to doing something, with the other person she was thinking of before they left. She jokes that not much gets past him.
Darcy comes to buy some cake. He keeps dropping hints about Toadie and Dee's fight outside, saying how he saw some but not all of it. Eventually Harold tells him that his name was mentioned a couple of times, but won't tell him any more.
Steph and Alex are slowly canoeing towards some rapids. Alex advises Steph on how to paddle, but as they reach the rapids they capsize. Alex comes to the surface, and spots Steph's lifejacket floating past. Eventually Steph comes up, shouting for Max. They make their way to the river bank. Once on the river bank they laugh and joke about what just happened, and how they looked like a pair of pros.
Nina and Taj are in a detention. Nina hears a scratching noise and reckons that it's a little bird trapped. Taj shows no interest, commenting that he'd rather be doing yard duty, but Nina climbs up on a chair to try and rescue the bird from the vent system.
Darcy arrives with some beers to try and cheer Toadie up. Toadie asks if Darcy called him a pathetic looser like Dee had said. Darcy claims he didn't say it but he might have agreed with Dee if she said it. Darcy tells Toadie that he's his friend, and would never say anything against him, reminding him that they swum with sharks. Sindi arrives and asks what happened with the phone call earlier. Toadie explains that he got himself into a bit of a situation. He asks if she and Darcy know each other, they agree that they may have met before once or twice. Darcy leaves.
Nina and Taj manage to persuade the trapped sparrow to escape, so Taj helps Nina down from the chair. Candace walks in to find them in each others arms and tells them their detentions are doubled, and in separate classrooms next time.
Darcy slips Dee a box of chocolates as she checks her diary. He follows her into the treatment room, but she asks him why he's trying to make up for what he said. Dee tells him that it wasn't right for him to tell Toadie lies about her, but he tells her that Toadie was going on and on about his problems, while she was sitting at home crying, and that he just wanted him to be on his toes, so he twisted the truth slightly. He tells her that he didn't want Toadie to think that it was just him who was enjoying himself so he made up a few little lies that she had been out partying. She thanks him for having his heart in the right place, but admits that she doesn't want to be seen stooping to his level. She asks how often she's been going out, and Darcy tells her it's been practically every night. She thanks him for the chocolates. She tells him, that the next time he thinks about helping her, not too; and digs into a choccy.
Steph and Alex are resting in the tent. They agree that the canoeing was hard work and they'll get back on the bikes the next day. They talk about how they made a fool of themselves, and Alex admits to feeling scared. He tells her that it made him think about the things and people he'd miss if that'd been it. He says he'd miss his family and brothers, but Steph tells him she was too busy searching for air to think about those things.
Sindi is reeling off a list of complaints about her job interview from earlier in the day, but Toadie is too busy ironing to listen. She soon realises and lets him off, because ironing for men is difficult like map reading for women (not me thanks!). Toadie however tells her that it's more than that and that they need to talk.
Toadie tells Sindi that it's about him, and that he's not really ready for a relationship and that they're probably not really suited for one, even if he was, as they are such different people. She tells him that she is not going to believe him, as he is in a bad mood following his argument with Dee, so will scrap the conversation from memory, telling him to at least sleep on the thought.
Lou's Place/ Outside Number 30
Darcy is asking Dee what she really though he had said to Toadie, but they are interrupted by his mobile. It's Sindi, telling him that she really needs to talk. He makes an excuse not to come, but she tells him if he doesn't she will tell Toadie what he's really up to.
Steph is sitting by the fire. Alex comes out the tent and asks if she wants to come and get some wood with him, but she tells him that she promised Lyn she'd keep in touch, showing him the postcards. He goes to collect the wood. She starts to write the postcard:
Dear Summer. Today we went canoeing up river, needless to say we both got pretty wet. Hope school is treating you OK. How's your dad going?
She tells herself to stop being an idiot and throws it onto the fire.
Harold serves Nina a slice of cake and comments on the great news. Nina doesn't know what he's on about so he explains how Lori got a 'pins and needles' sensation in her feet. She agrees that it's fantastic. Taj comes in, and Nina goes to sit with him. She apologises for making the situation with Mrs Barkham even worse, but he tells her just to leave it. Nina tells Taj about Lori's news. He agrees that it's fantastic, so Nina tries to persuade him to go and visit her as they know it wasn't his fault. She asks if they can go back to being a group as today they proved they can be friends. Taj tells her that he can't just switch off his feelings, but she tells him that she's not worth it, he tells her she is.
Sindi creeps into the surgery in the dark. Darcy switches on the light behind her and tells her to be snappy. Sindi tells him that Toadie wants to break up as they have nothing in common. Darcy tells her that it's not his problem. He tells her that she'll get over it, but she tells him that she really likes him. He reminds her that she was paid to be there from the start and that he's just come out of a year long relationship with Dee which is a tough act to follow. She admits she hadn't though of that. Darcy explains that there'll be lots of other men out there for her. But she tells him that she wants Toadie, and he is going to help her. She wants to know everything there is to know about Dee, and if he doesn't tell then she'll tell Dee that he paid her to be all over Toadie on that first night in the pub.
