Recap
- Ruby finds a wallet full of money on the bench in Harold's kitchen.
- Karl and Susan think Libby is going out with Stuart.
Harold finds a note from Ruby saying that she went to her kids.
Libby assures her parents that nothing is going on with Stuart and its just a bit of fun. Karl and Susan aren't convinced. Libby explains that its just a competition in a silly teen magazine, and she's doing it because there's a $5,000 prize for the winner. Karl tells her it's lying to say they are going out. Libby tells him they expect people to exaggerate a bit. Susan tells Libby that saying Stuarts her boyfriend is a bit more than an exaggeration. Libby tells them it will be fine and goes to check on Ben. Karl tells Susan that he hopes Libby knows what she is doing.
Harold tells Lou that Ruby's clothes are still in the room she was staying in. He is worried that she is probably off somewhere gambling. Lou tells him it will be all right because her clothes are still there and she'll most likely be back. Harold decides to go and look for Ruby and Lou says he'll go with him.
Toadie and Tim Collins are having drinks at the pub and discussing Toadie's first week on the job. Tim tells Toadie that he's in a rush and is on a hot date with the girl he was telling him about. Toadie is disappointed and tells him that's a shame because Dee's away and he wanted to celebrate just getting his job. Tim tells him that, "this is the girl that the phrase 'hot to trot' was practically invented for." and that he'd choose his date with the lovely "Samantha" over a few drinks any day. Just before he leaves, Tim gives Toadie his first pay cheque.
Libby is helping Stuart choose a suit for the best boyfriend competition. Stuart notices that she doesn't look very happy and asks her what's wrong. She tells him her parents aren't very happy about the competition, but not to worry about it, that they just have the wrong end of the stick. Then she tells him to prepare for questions they may ask him at the competition, then she leaves.
In the pub, Toadie and Darcy argue over which sport is better - soccer or football. Toadie tells Darcy that in football, you use both your hands and feet and there's more adrenalin. Toadie says that Steph going shark diving is pure adrenalin. Darcy reckons that the only dangerous thing when you go shark diving is when you drive home. Toadie tells him if he's never done it, how would he know. Darcy thinks Toadie's challenging him and they end up agreeing to go shark diving together.
Stuart comes out to show Libby his suit. He asks if he scrubs up all right. Libby tells him he certainly does, and then asks him why men can never do up their ties properly. Stuart jokes, "So we can get the girls to do it for us." and smiles at Libby. She starts to look nervous and tells him she'll see him the next day. As she walks out, Stuart says goodbye to her and looks worried.
Harold has been looking Ruby. He walk back to his car where Lou is waiting. He tells Lou he's had no luck finding her and he was sure she would be at the betting shop. He decides to head off to the city to find her in a casino. Lou tells him it will take him half the night and they should just go home. Harold tells him he's right and agrees to go back home. Lou assures him that Ruby will return.
Susan and Karl worry about the possibility of Libby falling in love with someone (like Stuart) when she's not ready. But they decide not to talk to her about because she's old enough to make her own decisions. Soon after, Libby comes back home, and Karl goes off to have a shower. Susan tells Libby she's sorry about how she and Karl have acted towards Stuart. Libby tells her its ok. Susan hugs Libby and tells her she's sure she'll make the right decision.
Stuart and Toadie talk about shark diving. Stuart tells Toadie that all he knows about sharks is that they have a lot of teeth. Toadie tells Stuart he thinks shark diving is character building. Stuart laughs and asks how it is character building. Darcy walks in and tells Toadie he thought he would have to drag him out kicking and screaming. Toadie says he'll be ready when Darcy's ready.
Later, Darcy and Toadie are looking through the glass into the shark tank. Toadie keeps going on about how scary they look, how sharp their teeth are and how they could rip into you. Darcy looks very scared and tells him to shut up, because he's got a headache. Then he decides that he's sick of these macho games and that he's not doing it. Toadie starts talking about Steph going shark diving, and it makes Darcy worry about what people will say if he chickens out. Toadie tells him "I'm sure nobody will think less of you, the people who don't know about, that is."
At Erinsborough High, Susan tells Libby she's in trouble from the principal for telling the students they can choose their own English text. Libby tells her that the principal has the right to decide, because like it or not she's the boss now. Susan replies, " it's not about professional jealousy. That woman is stuck in the dark ages!"
Darcy and Toadie prepare to jump in the shark tank. Darcy still looks extremely nervous about it. A professional is there to guide them through it. The jump in and swim around for a while with sharks and sting rays going past them.
Lou finds Harold asleep on the couch. He asks him if he was up all night waiting for Ruby. Harold tells him that was his original intention, and he wishes Ruby would come back so he could help her through the gambling addiction. Then he gets a call from Ruby. Harold tells her to stop lying, that he knows she isn't at her son's because he already checked there. She hangs up.
In the Coffee Shop, Darcy laughs at how scared Toadie was with the sharks. Toadie points out that Darcy was a lot more scared than he was. Toadie tell him he has to go to work. Darcy tells him, "Work is for mere mortals, Toadie. What you and I just shared, they wouldn't understand." To Toadie's surprise, Darcy hugs him and says, "I love you, man."
Libby and Stuart are getting interviewed for the best boyfriend competition. They are asked numerous questions, some of which they both give different answers, which results in embarrassment.
At the Kennedys, Karl is asking Toadie and Tim Collins advice on the drink driving charge. They both tell him not to take it to court because it could result in an increased penalty, and that it would end up in all the papers. Karl asks what the bottom line is. Toadie tells him they will follow his instructions, but it's better to cop the infringement and the license cancellation and leave it at that.
Stuart is getting his photos taken for the competition. Then the photographer tells Libby she wants some of her. Libby says she thought it was about Stuart. The photographer tells her that people would want to know who the girlfriend is. She takes some photos of Libby and Stuart with their arms around each other. Then she tells them to kiss. They look nervous and get ready to kiss. But, at the last minute, Libby says they are pulling out of the competition and runs away.
