Joe says he needs a new fanbelt for the truck, so he'll pop into Moco. Steph's glad that Joe has another job on the trucks, but he doesn't want to make it a permanent arrangement. He looks a bit suspicious at Steph's sudden interest and is clearly wondering about the Mitch connection.
Joel tells Dee that it's a big day today - he's going for a test dive. Dee moans on at him for not having a license and Joel says he'll be fine. She points out that he hasn't dived at this depth and anyway, Vernon specifically said he had to have a license. Joel says he'll tell Vernon that he left the licence at home!
Tad and Paul have brought the Ramsay Street sign petition for Lyn to sign. Tad answers the phone to Lily and she invites him to a party at her beach house this afternoon. Somehow Lyn caves in to Flick but tells her she has to try harder.
Mitch and Jo are talking about trucks. Mitch tells Joe about the time his car got stuck in the engine and he found it part way into the trip!
Lyn tells Steph that Flick is going to a beach party - she's at her wits end. Lyn and Steph join Joe and Mick at a table. While Mitch is at the bar, Joe grills Steph for details about Mitch's background. He says Mitch is a bit closed-off - he doesn't talk about himself a lot. Finally Steph tells Joe and Lyn in confidence that Mitch was in Warrinor with Woody - but she doesn't know what for. Lyn quietly rolls her eyes.
Tad, Paul and Flick are buying food to go to the beach party. Dee comes in and asks Flick about diving (based on her couple of days at the pool!) She explains about how you can have nitrogen narcosis at depths and you should be properly trained.
Joel drives off and Dee calls out to him, but he can't hear her.
Mitch and Steph are playing pool and he's impressed at her prowess. They chat about Woody a bit and Steph admits she thinks about him a lot. She asks Mitch what he was in Warrinor for and he spins her a line about a treasure map. Steph realises he doesn't want to talk about it.
Harold has left Paul and Tad Scrabble to take to the beach party(!) They decide to hide it(!) Flick moans about working at the Salon and Tad tells her that she could think about her mother slaving away for her at the Salon. Tad says they need a set of wheels and they discuss getting their licenses.
Vernon is telling the divers that a danger dive lies ahead. He tells everyone that if anyone is unfit to dive, it's their last chance to speak up. Joel doesn't say anything, but just then he notices Dee approaching.
Joe asks Lyn if she's going to give Flick the boot from the Salon. Lyn says she knows Flick has conned her about the party, but she's still a kid in so many ways.
Lyn tells Joe that Mitch seems nice but she wants Joe to ask him what he went to jail for. Joe says he can't. Lyn points out that Steph and Mitch are getting close, but in his usual dense way, Joe hasn't noticed! Lyn says it's like history repeating itself.
Steph comes in from playing pool at that moment and says she had a great time. Joe looks surprised - maybe there's something in what Lyn's saying after all!
Joel tells Dee that he appreciates her concern but tells her to go home. She threatens to tell Vernon that Joel isn't qualified. Just then Vernon comes up. Joel says it isn't true, but Vernon says he'll have to stop the dive - no risks, one out, all out.
Steph is telling Lyn that Mitch told her some stuff about Woody. Like waiting in line for an hour to use the phone to talk to her. Lyn looks a bit worried and tells Steph that she thinks she likes Woody. Steph says she only likes him as a friend.
Joel tells Vernon that he's fit to dive, but Dee insists he has an ear infection. Vernon says he hopes Joel isn't willing to risk the dive just to further his career.
When Vernon has gone, Joel tells Dee that she's wrecked his entire career. Dee says she could have saved his life.
Tad, Paul and Flick have arrived at the party - there's already music playing. Tad goes off to do something about the music(!)
Joel sees Dee in the Coffee Shop and starts on at her again saying she had no right to humiliate him in front of Vernon. Dee rolls her eyes and says she thinks Joel should grow up and start acting like a man. Men can admit when they're wrong.
JOEL: Stop bossing me around, you're not my girlfriend.
DEE: Gee, I wonder why that is, Joel?
Mitch and Joe are planning his next truck trip. He's about to head off and Lyn implores him to drive carefully. Steph hugs him goodbye.
Mitch asks Steph what she's up to tonight - he invites her down to Lou's for dinner. As in a date. Steph says she doesn't think it's a good idea. Mitch turns to go.
MITCH: We could have fun together, Steph. Give us a call if you change your mind.
