Recap
- Michelle tells Bianca of her plans to break into the Medical Research Centre during the evening to gain evidence, which she could sell to the papers.
- Darcy is shocked to hear that Tess has organised a meeting with Karl about his proposal, but she tells him she'll come along for moral support.
Surgery
Karl and Victor arrive. Karl updates Victor on the situation, who agrees that he'll be fine. As Karl, Tess and Darcy leave, Karl jokes that he and Darcy will probably make him redundant; they laugh.
Number 24
Harold persuades Michelle that breaking into the Medical Research Centre is not the best way to go about uncovering what/if they are doing anything bad. Michelle tells Harold that she knows they are experimenting on live animals, but Harold reminds her that she could have a criminal conviction for the rest of her life and tells her to scrap the idea.
Lou tells Harold about a new computer game, Road Rage Two Thousand; that caused two boys to take it to reality and ended up driving off a cliff. Harold tells him it can't be that bad and discovers that Tad has a copy. "Welcome to the highway from hell. Ten levels of the most extreme computer game ever imaginable"
Number 30
Toadie asks Joel and Dee whether they're going to come to the singles night at Lou's the following evening. They both claim their not desperate enough to go, but Toadie tells them that perhaps it means they still have feeling for each other, which they deny. Toadie suggests that they come as a way to prove that they are over one another.
Lou's Place
While Karl goes to get the drinks, Darcy tells Tess that he is not yet in a position to put the proposal to Karl, and that the pub is not a place for business proposals, but a place to socialise, which is what he intends on doing. He thanks Tess for organising it. Karl comes back with the drinks, and they propose a toast to friendship.
Number 24
Harold is painting a stool, as Lou pops round to tell him about their school reunion that's coming up. Lou asks if he's planning on going, as it'll be a good way to see how people have changed since they left. Harold tells him he hadn't really thought about it. Lou goes to play the computer game.
Number 30
Toadie asks the others if they have decided whether they are going to come to the singles night or not, before taking Bob for a walk. Joel and Dee both agree that they won't go on the basis that they are single, but as a chance to watch and see how funny the other people are. Dee agrees it would be like when she went to the casino and didn't gamble but just watched people's faces.
Lou's Place
Darcy, Tess and Karl are laughing and having a good ol' natter. Karl remembers that Darcy had some news to tell him, but Darcy tells him, he and Tess have lots of good news with the wedding coming along. He tells Karl that his Aunt Joan will be coming to the wedding, and that he's glad she's coming because if she doesn't come, it's a sign that she doesn't approve. Tess recons she sounds terrifying, and Karl and Darcy tell her 'she is'!
Number 30
Lou is playing the computer game and has learnt 24 different ways to crash a car. Harold tells him he's not to keen on the boys playing it, now he's seen what it's done to Lou. Lou asks him if he's given anymore thought to the school reunion. Harold says his past is in the past and that he couldn't think of anything duller.
Lou's Place
Karl and Darcy are still nattering away about crazy relatives. Tess points out to them how they've been going on for about an hour. She tells them about a friend who went to the new 'super-clinic' in Eden Hills, and got a prescription in ten minutes. Karl recons it's ridiculous as in order to prescribe appropriate medication a doctor needs longer than ten minutes. Tess asks Karl what he thinks about a 24/7 hours medical clinic, where the doctors still get time out. Karl's phone rings so he leaves the table. Darcy asks Tess what she's up to.
Coffee Shop
Toadie tells Dee that she can't tag along to the singles night with Joel as it defeats the whole object of the evening. She tells him they are going as friends, but that he can pay for her coffee. Dee notices Michelle putting up animal rights posters, she tells her that it's for a good cause, and Dee agrees. Toadie asks Harold and Lou what they were up to the previous night as they're both goggle eyed. Lou tells him about Road Rage Two Thousand, and how he got up to level nine. Harold tells Toadie not to encourage him, but Toadie tells him that if he liked level nine, he'll love level ten. Harold looks disapproved.
Surgery
Victor sweet talks Karl about one of his patients, and mentions the roster for the following evening. Karl tells him both he and Darcy are busy, but Victor mentions the football, and suggests they should go to a game one day. Karl takes a patient through. Victor goes to Darcy, who tells him befriending Karl won't be enough and that they need to make him in-dispensable and that he has a plan.
Number 24
Harold returns to find Lou hooked onto the computer game; he's managed to get to level ten. Harold tells him if he's hooked then he'll never get the boys to stop playing it. Lou ignores he's pleas to stop and tells him that he's booked time off work to go to the school reunion. He asks Harold if he's going, but he says no, and when Lou continues to pester him, Harold finally snaps, telling him that he will not be going and to stop interfering.
Surgery
Victor puts a proposal to Karl, that he offers his acupuncture services to the surgery. Karl admits that he often refers patients to acupuncture and that he'll have a think about it. Darcy agrees that they'd make a great team.
Coffee Shop
Harold notices that Michelle is sitting with a mini VD video camera. She tells him that she's going to be using it to film a school project about people at work, but is unable to work out how to film in low light. He offers for her to shoot him at work. Karl comes over and asks what it takes to be served, but also notices the camera. Harold tells him about Michelle's project and he too offers for her to film him, but not the patients. Whilst he and Harold figure out the low light settings, Darcy arrives, and comes over. He tells her she'll need a true white setting and shows her how to do it, along with some of it's other gadgets. Harold and Karl leave, and return to the counter.
Number 30
Toadie encourages Dee and Joel to get ready for the singles night. He notices that his bottle of scotch is missing and realises that Tad must've taken it with him. The others appear, dressed and ready, so they leave.
Medical Research Centre
Michelle is outside, trying to make her way through the fence, but there is a torch light so she hides behind a car. Once the light leaves she pulls over a mask and climbs over the fence.
Lou's Place
Lou asks Darcy what he's doing there as it's a singles night. He says it's no different to any other night, except there are a few more single people about, but admits he's getting married in three weeks and leaves Victor to it. Joel asks Dee what she thinks of Darcy. She tells him that she's learning to live with her murderous impulses, but that one day she'll get her turn, and it is fast approaching. Lou and Toadie agree it's been a good night all round, so Toadie suggests doing the same thing for the school reunion, but Lou tells him it won't be happening as Harold's not interested. Toadie works out that it'll be his first one without Madge, so he'll have to tell everyone what happened. Lou is annoyed he didn't think of it. Toadie goes to split up Dee and Joel, telling them they won't meet anyone as they look like a married couple sitting with each other. Dee leaves to go and talk to Victor. She introduces herself as Danielle Becker.
Medical Research Centre
Michelle is walking around the centre in the dark, and heads towards the testing lab. She gets the video camera out, but is caught by a security guard.
Lou's Place
'Dani' and Victor are laughing at the bar. Joel asks Toadie what he recons is going on between them, as it looks like 'man attack'. Victor gets a business call and has to leave but tells Dani that he'd like to see her again, and gives her his card. Joel and Toadie come over and ask her about their original plan of just watching. She tells them he asked to see her again, and she's planning to say yes.
