Recap
- Libby getting a letter from the Chronicle lawyer and being stunned at its contents.
- Joe urging Steph to use the police to see Woody despite Steph's reluctance.
No. 26
Joe and Lyn tidy up the breakfast dishes waiting for Steph to appear to go and see the police. Lyn wonders how helpful the police are going to be and privately admits to Joe she hopes the police tell Steph she can't go on seeing Woody. Joe admits he doesn't think Steph will go for that idea when Michelle comes out of her room to talk about Flick's 18th. Michelle tells them a surprise party would be a great idea. Steph eventually appears after having not a lot of sleep and they head off to see the police.
Drew and Libby's Place
We now find out about the letter - an offer of a $10,000 out of court settlement. Libby thinks they are trying to bride her off and wonders if it confirms too what the lawyer originally said - that she was trying to extortion money out of the paper. Drew wonders what they could do with that amount of money and Libby isn't sure if she wants to take it or not. Drew tells her to get some independent advice first and she goes to call Maggie.
The Coffee Shop
Bianca and Michelle talk about Michelle being arrested at the demo and she is surprised Michelle is even being allowed out of the house! They ask Karl if it is right to do experiments on animals and he explains that it is a question of balance when Maggie interrupts to ask Michelle to do some babysitting for her. Before Maggie and Karl disappear, they talk more about animal rights and when the adults leave, Michelle tells Bianca she isn't going to sit back and do nothing as she has something else in mind.
City police station
The detective reviews the case and tells Steph she is jeopardising Woody and his cover by remaining in contact with him and reminds her that she herself has most got killed trying to see him and asks if it is worth it. Steph tells him she spends every waking hour thinking of the answer to that. Lyn then comments that there is nothing he can do, and the detective asks what did they think he could do, so Steph explains that she wants to be able to see Woody. The detective tells Steph that if she does care for Woody then the best thing she can do is to break it off once and for all.
Drew and Libby's Place
Maggie interprets the letter from the Chronicle for Libby and confirms that her complaint is being taken as a threat. Libby is now having second thoughts and for a second contemplates telling another newspaper he story until Maggie points out that she could then be sued for defamation. Maggie tells her that it is a good offer on the table and to see it as a victory as the paper won't like having to give out that sort of money, rather than go to court and risk it and her stress levels.
Outside the City police station
The detective shows the Scullys out and Steph lets rip over how Woody ended up in witness protection in the first place - he helped the police to get a conviction and so sacrificed their relationship - and now when she is here asking for help they don't want to know and regardless of how hard she tries, she can't give Woody up. She then tells him that if he can't help her then they'll find their own way to meet. This gets his attention and tells her that what they are doing is for both of their safeties but since they are still determined to meet, if the police organise something then it will be safer for all concerned. Steph is now happy at the thought of being able to legally see Woody.
The detective comes off the phone with the news that he's set up a meeting for tomorrow and Steph is ecstatic. She thanks him and asks what will happen after tomorrow - like will they always have to meet at the station. The detective then gives Steph the bad news - this is a one-off meeting for them to finalise things, which leaves Steph feeling very deflated.
No. 26
Michelle is trying to show Bianca about ways of getting into the laboratory and Bianca isn't enthralled. Michelle tells Bianca that she'll give what she finds to a current affairs show and Bianca replies that they can show the footage along with coverage of Michelle's arrest! Michelle tells her she isn't going to get caught and invites Bianca to a stakeout just as Joe, Lyn and Steph arrive home. Lyn tells Steph the police have her best interests at heart, which Steph interprets as telling her to break it off with Woody.
Lou's Place
Libby envious of Karl and Drew's ability to have something to drink because she can't due to her full bladder that is necessary for good ultrasound pictures of the baby. Karl tells them they'll be able to see good images of the baby and that they'll probably get a video of it too. Libby picks up on the subtly and invites him and Susan round to view it.
Drew and Libby's Place
Libby is now proudly showing off the images of the baby on the video to Karl and Susan. Karl asks if they found out about the sex of it and she says no before asking if Karl saw something. Karl winds her up by saying 'he' and Susan says it is a baby and apologises for getting soppy too before telling Libby to make the most of being pregnant and having a baby as they grow up all too soon.
No. 26
As they have dinner, Michelle tells her parents that the police are fascists to tell Steph to break it off with Woody. Joe replies that the police are going out of their way to arrange the meeting when Steph comes home. After telling Lyn she isn't hungry, she tells Joe that the police are helping him more than her since Joe doesn't want her to be with Woody. Lyn tells her that they just want her to be safe and that the police want that too. Steph admits she wishes she'd kept on seeing Woody secretly and didn't get the police involved. Joe sarcastically adds getting herself killed in the process too, before telling her that they both just want to her to be happy. Lyn says that she knows things aren't planning out like Steph thought they would and it may be unfair but at least she's getting the opportunity to.
Drew and Libby's Place
Drew and Libby are still gushing watching the video of the baby talking about how much things are going to cost when the baby comes along. Drew says they will manage if she doesn't take the money and Libby admits that they don't really have much choice but not to accept it.
No. 28
Karl comments that Susan is up early and she tells him she has to sort things out for going back to school then begins to panic over everything else she has to do too. Karl leads her to the seats to find out why she is worked out and she admits that she doesn't know how she is going to manage to help Libby when the baby arrives. He tells Susan they will just prioritise things. Susan now has a panic about becoming a granny as Karl gets his back stuck!
The Coffee Shop
Michelle is reading an article from a paper about animal cruelty and Bianca tries to ignore what she is saying. She spots Libby sitting and tells Libby she is glad that she is taking the Chronicle to court after reading their editorial, commenting too that they are unethical. Libby confirms that they are unethical and Michelle congratulates her for standing up for her rights so they can see what sort of scumbags they are!
No. 28
Libby tells Susan about her conversation with Michelle, having second thoughts about taking the money. Susan says she is doing the right thing and asks what Drew's take on it. Lib tells her that Drew says the decision is up to her but is secretly glad they are going to take the money.
The Coffee Shop
Drew tells Karl they are taking the money but thinks too that it is letting the Chronicle off the hook and adds not to tell that part to Libby!
At another table, Bianca and Michelle are chatting although Michelle would rather talk about her idea than talk about bands with her. Bianca can't stand it any more and before she leaves, tells Michelle she is going to sell her ticket to someone else because she is boring!
City police station
The detective tells Steph that Woody has now arrived and to make the most of their time together. He wants to talk about it but Steph wants to see Woody, and is brought in. They hug and kiss each other and confirm to each other what the police have told them - that this is the last time they see each other.
They now head into a garden and the detective tells them that they have 10 minutes. Woody asks how the bike is going before Steph tells him she loves him. Woody asks her to go back with her because he loves her and doesn't want to lose her again.
