No. 30
Toadie comes into the kitchen as Nick rants about Caitlin and Josh going off together. Sarah explains to Toadie that Nick thinks they've run away. Toadie asks Nick who he is, and Sarah explains that he's Ben's brother; he's going to be staying there for a while. Toadie comments that Caitlin and Josh are old enough to look after themselves. Nick doesn't look impressed. The 'phone rings, Sarah answers it and tells Toadie that it's Shannon.
Josh's car, on a road somewhere
Josh is driving him and Caitlin along, Caitlin beaming that they should have done this ages ago; it's amazing! Josh asks her if she's having second thoughts, but she assures him that it's fantastic: they can do whatever they want!
No. 32
Lance is playing a computer game on the TV. Hannah tells him that there's a new version out, but Lance says he doesn't want to spend his money. Philip suggests to her that perhaps she and Lance and Toadie should think about reinvesting their jukebox money.
No. 30
Sarah hands mugs of coffee to Ben and Nick, Nick snapping about Toadie tying up the 'phone. Sarah calls to Toadie, who tells Shannon that he has to go. He then asks if anyone's cooking anything for dinner, but Sarah says they aren't. The 'phone rings and Nick grabs it - but it's Pinhead for Toadie. Toadie says he'll ring him back on the mobile
No. 32
Lance opens the front door to Amy, who asks if he's alone - but Lance tells her that his mum is doing the dishes in the kitchen. The two of them head into the lounge room as there's another knock on the front door. Ruth goes to get it to find Geoff standing there. He tells her that he left in such a hurry before that he forgot to ask Ben if he wanted to go somewhere for lunch. Ruth explains that Ben is next door, as Josh and Caitlin have run off together. Geoff goes to head over there. Lance suggests to his mum that she go too, and see what's happening, but Ruth smiles that she'd be in the way. Lance rolls his eyes at Amy!
Petrol station
Josh is filling his car with $20 of petrol, telling Caitlin as he does so that they have to come up with a real plan: they can't just keep driving around for the sake of it. Caitlin tells him that she's been thinking about it and she wants to go home to Adelaide, to see her old friends. Josh says they'll just have to hope the money holds out.
No. 30
Ben opens the front door to Geoff, who explains that Ruth told him about Caitlin. Toadie hangs up his mobile and says he's going out. Geoff asks Ben if Caitlin said *why* she left. Sarah tells him that it's teenage angst. Geoff comments that he hopes it had nothing to do with the conversation they had a couple of days ago. Nick asks what the conversation was about and Geoff explains that Caitlin asked him if he thought she had what it took to make it at championship level and he told her that he had his doubts. Nick snaps angrily that that explains the whole thing.
Coffee Shop
Amy is sitting at a table with Lance, telling him that her mum is going away for the holidays and she's going to be home all alone... Lance grins that when he comes over, they'll have the house to themselves! Amy, however, smiles that he's not *coming* over, he's *staying* over!
Toadie and Hannah suddenly join them and Toadie says he's noticed that the takings from the jukebox have dropped off a bit and he thinks people are getting a bit bored with the music, so he moves that they spend some of the money on new CDs. Hannah says she agrees - and they don't have to put them in the machine straight away; they should keep them at home first. Lance muses that it sounds like a scam to buy more CDs! He goes on that he thinks they should take the money they've made out of the jukebox and put it into something that will make even *more* money. He suggests they think up some ideas and talk about it tomorrow.
Side of a road
Caitlin is lying on the bonnet of Josh's car and she tells Josh that she's so glad they turned off the main road. She's staring at a bird flying up in the sky and she comments that it's alone; *she'd* hate to travel somewhere far away and not have someone special to share it with. She then asks if they'll be travelling through the night. Josh says they'll have to rest at some point - his arm's hurting. Caitlin asks what they'll do, as they can't go to a motel. Josh says they'll just find somewhere to pull over and spend the night - but they'll keep going for a while yet.
No. 30
Ben snaps that this is ridiculous: it's pitch dark outside. Sarah points out that Caitlin's not going to come home because she sun's gone down: she's 16, not six. Ben says he thinks they should call the police, but Nick says he still reckons she'll come home in the morning.
No. 32
Lance is pacing the lounge room floor. He takes a deep breath and then says to his mum:
LANCE: If Amy asked me to stay over at her place sometime in the holidays, you'd be OK with that, wouldn't you?
Ruth says she'd have to call Amy's parents first. Lance insists quickly that she wouldn't have to do that, but Ruth tells him that it's common politeness. A glum expression crosses Lance's face. Ruth asks what the problem is and Lance explains that it's Toadie and Hannah: they say they want to come in on more investments with him, but he doesn't think they're serious. Ruth suggests he come up with a timeframe and get them to put something in writing. Lance thinks about this and then dashes off to see them, just as Philip arrives.
No. 30
Toadie is cooking a fry- up when Lance arrives. He asks Sarah for a word with Toadie and she leaves them alone. Toadie is playing a CD and he indicates a pile of CDs that he bought for the jukebox. Lance stares at them furiously and exclaims at Toadie that he went out and spent all his money on CDs. Toadie insists that they'll make much more than they cost. Lance snaps that this is hopeless: he's going to go out and make more money on his *own*.
A deserted track
The next morning, Josh wakes up as a train rumbles past. Caitlin is on the back seat of his car with him: she stirs and comments groggily she got a couple of hours. She then asks how much further it is and Josh replies that it's about half a day's drive. Caitlin asks if they can afford to get some breakfast. Josh says it'll have to be sandwiches and coffee.
Coffee Shop
Hannah and Toadie are sitting at a table when Lance comes in. Toadie tells him that they need to talk about this reinvestment idea. He goes on that the reason they bought the new CDs was so they can put them in a new jukebox; they can rotate them from one to the other. Lance, however, tells him that he's left it too late: he's got enough money to go ahead and buy his *own* jukebox, so that's what he's going to do. He tells Toadie that he broke their deal when he bought those CDs, so now he's going to do what he wants.
No. 30/A public 'phone box
Ben is talking on the 'phone as Nick cooks breakfast. He hangs up as Sarah comes in and asks if there are any developments, but Nick says there aren't. The 'phone suddenly rings, Ben answers it and STD pips sound. Caitlin comes on and says:
CAITLIN: It's me. I'm just calling I case anyone's worried. You don't have to be - I'm fine.
Ben asks her where she is and she tells him that she's on her way to Adelaide. Looking astonished, Ben asks how they can contact her. Caitlin, however, says she doesn't know; *she'll* contact *him*. She adds that they're not to try coming after her and Josh, as she's not coming back. She then hangs up and tells Josh that, from now on, it's just them.
No. 26
Hannah, Toadie and Lance head into No. 26, Toadie telling Philip that they want to know how to split up the partnership. Philip suggests they shouldn't break up a winning team for no good reason. Toadie asks Lance if he's still going ahead without them and Lance says he is. Philip tells them that Toadie and Hannah will have to buy Lance out at an agreed price - but not just at Lance's original investment, but also calculating future earnings. Toadie snaps that if takes money to buy him out, then that's what they'll do.
Josh's car
Caitlin asks Josh what the matter is, as he hasn't spoken for ages. Josh tells her that he's not sure what they're doing is such a good idea. He goes on that he doesn't think they've thought things through - such as *them*: what happens if he decides to go back to the Institute? Caitlin insists that she'll come with him. Josh tells her that it's up to her where she goes, and he'll stay with her for a while because he likes her a lot and really wants to be with her, but he doesn't have any long- term plans - and he's not the answer to her problems. He goes on:
JOSH: I just want you to know that before... well, before you get too serious.
CAITLIN (murmurs): Sure.
JOSH: We can keep going or we can go back - but you decide.
Caitlin stares at him.
