Recap
Anne flirting with Ben in the pool.
Billy finding out where Anne is, and worrying that she has dumped him for Ben.
Number 28
Billy asks Toadie, why he always seems to get dumped, he looks rather glum and sorry for himself. Toadie tries to assure him that she hasn't dumped him, she is only swimming with the guy. He tells him to stop feeling sorry for himself, and go over there and find out what is going on.
Billy worries what to do, as Anne will think that he is spying on her, but Toadie reminds him that will only be if she has something to hide. Anyway it's time for Billy's daily swim isn't it? He has to keep his asthma at bay. Billy likes that excuse and decides to go for it. Toadie reminds him just to stay calm when he goes over there to talk to him.
The Pool At Number 30
Anne and Ben are sitting by the pool, and Anne is still trying to chat him up, Ben doesn't seem to be too interested. Anne wonders if he has always been a mechanic. Ben says no, not when he was a kid, what a joker. He doesn't seem interested in discussing this, and asks Anne if she is cold, she flirtatiously tells him that she wouldn't mind a shirt to put on. He doesn't seem forthcoming, and tells Anne it's time for a shower.
A SHOWER? asks Anne, thinking that Ben may be inviting him to shower with him, but she just has her wires crossed, and Ben says that he thinks she should head off, he will have a shower when she leaves. Anne is not heading off however, and still wants to ask questions about mechanics, and asks Ben if he could teach her some mechanics, but Ben doesn't have the time.
At that moment Billy arrives, and Ben seems delighted to see him, he tells him to keep Anne company as he has a few things to do, Ben wastes no time in making a run from his uncomfortable conversation with Anne.
As Billy takes Ben's seat he asks Anne what she has being doing?
ANNE: I just came for a swim with Hannah
BILLY: Right, why don't you tell me the real story now?
ANNE: Look of you've come to interrogate me, about everything I do, then you can just shove off, cos I can't be bothered with this.
BILLY: OK if that's how you feel..
Anne storms off, not looking like she wants to continue the conversation with Billy, seems like she only has eyes for Ben.
The Martin House
Hannah is gossiping to Phil about Toadie having a girlfriend, Phil is please for Toadie, but Hannah is sceptical and doesn't think that it is true, she disappears as she is going to see if Lance knows anything.
Debbie and Wayne are making eyes at each other at the front door, when she comes inside, Phil is surprised that they are still seeing each other. Last he heard Debbie was bemoaning his disappearance, but Debbie tells Phil he's back and she hopes to see a lot more of him. She really likes him, and hopes it will work. Phil says that he hope's so too, as there is nothing he wants more than to see him happy, well Phil that aint going to happen with Wayne, warn her off, warn her off..
The Kennedys
Billy gets back from his swim, telling Toadie that things did not go well with Anne.
Hannah and Lance barge in to try and get the gossip about Toadie's girlfriend, Toadie is at first coy, but they keep on at him, and he is forced to admit that he has met a girl, and she has agreed to go to the movies with him. Hannah and Lance are more than shocked.
HANNAH: A girl is going to the movies... with you?
TOADIE: Yes a girl is going to the movies with me.
LANCE: WOW
Hannah and Lance exchange bemused and shocked looks, they can't believe it.
Toadie tells the two that her name is Rebecca, and that she is pretty- in his opinion, but Lance takes that to mean that she isn't pretty. Toadie is defensive of how hot she is, and tells them to keep out of it, he doesn't want to talk about it. Hannah and Lance want to go to the movies with Toadie, but he says no way, he just wants them to leave him alone.
Ramsay Street
Billy is shooting some hoops when Anne comes over to ask him where Anne is, she was supposed to be at home making dinner. Billy says that she has other important things on her mind, I.e. Ben. Ruth wants to know what she is doing there, and goes to check it out. Billy thinks this is a good plan.
Lance and Hannah are still in shock that Toadie has got himself a date, they can't believe it. They tell Billy that Toadie is taking his new girlfriend to the movies tonight, and they are going too. Billy wonders if Toadie has invited them, but Lance admits that Toadie doesn't know about them going yet. Billy thinks that they should just give Toadie a break, but they insist that it is just a bit of fun, they want to check this girl out, and they are not going to ruin it for him. They ask Billy to go with them, but he is not in the mood for the movies. Hannah asks if he is still upset about Anne, but Billy insists that he is not, he doesn't know what he ever saw in the girl.
The Martins
Darren is there to see Debbie, he thinks that she deserves to know the truth about Wayne. Debbie doesn't want to listen to it, and tells Darren to get out, but he begs her to hear him out. Darren tells her that it was Wayne's idea to rob the warehouse, but Debbie doesn't believe him, she thinks that Darren is lying. Darren insists that Wayne is behind it all, Darren wants to go straight, but Wayne doesn't, he has admitted as much to Darren this morning. Debbie thinks that Darren has made it all up, telling him that he is wrong, and Wayne is not like that. Darren gives up trying to convince her, and tells her that he has tried and it is now on her head.
Number 30
Anne has draped herself seductively over the kitchen counter, still relentless in her pursuit of Ben, she is still in her swimming costume and a towel. Ben asks where Billy is, Anne tells him that he went home because he didn't want to swim. Anne obviously has more than swimming on her mind. Ben wonders if Ruth will be wondering where Anne is, after all she has been there all afternoon, but Anne tells Ben that it is not a problem. She could stay for dinner if she really wanted to and her mum wouldn't mind. 'Really' comments Ben, not taking the very strong hint from Anne, who was obviously very unsubtly angling for a dinner invitation.
Ruth comes in the back door and finds Anne still in her swimwear, she wants to know what Anne is doing there, Ben chips in that Anne came over with Hannah.
RUTH: So where is Hannah?
ANNE: She went home
RUTH: I think it would have been a very good idea if you'd done the same thing young lady.
ANNE: Why? I'm not doing anything wrong.
BEN: I was under the impression that Anne had your permission to be here.
RUTH: I knew nothing about it. I think it might be a good idea if you came home [Anne] you offered to cook dinner remember?
Anne trying to shrug off the telling off she has just had from her mum, after all she wants Ben to see her as a grown up tells Ben:
ANNE: Look, I'll see you later Ben, thanks for letting us use your pool.
Anne waltzes out. Ben tries to offer his apologies to Ruth, who shrugs and tells him that there is no harm done.
Number 32
Lance and Hannah are checking the listings in the paper, they wonder what movie Toadie will take his girlfriend to, Lance thinks that it will be the mushiest one.
At that moment Anne storms in, with Ruth hot on her heels, Anne is very angry and is shouting at the top of her voice, she can't believe that Ruth has embarrassed her like that in front of Ben. She turns to Hannah and Lance and scathingly delivers a 'Thanks A Lot' They wonder what they have done, Anne assumes that they told Ruth where she was. Ruth corrects Anne, telling her that it was Billy who told her where she was, and she is very glad that he did. Ruth tells Anne that she had no right to be alone in the house with Ben, practically naked, but Anne sarcastically asks what she is supposed to wear to go swimming. Ruth chides her, and tells her that Ben is too old for her, and she doesn't want Anne hanging around with him. Anne can't see the big deal, nothing happened, but Ruth is worried that something might have happened if she hadn't got there when she did. Ruth tells her that it can be very different with older boys, and she is worried. But Anne is having none of it, telling Anne that she has never been so embarrassed, Ruth has treated her like a little kid, and she is never going to forgive her.
Lou's Place
Debbie and Wayne are having dinner, and Wayne is telling Debbie his favourite joke, but Debbie doesn't seem to be listening. Wayne wonders what the problem is. Debbie says that Darren has told her about the break in, and that Wayne has no intention of going straight. Wayne tells Debbie that none of it is true, and Darren has got it in for him. Debbie doesn't understand why Darren would say it, but Wayne says it's to cover his own tracks, and it is lucky that Debbie is smart enough to see through it. *cough cough* Yeah whatever.....
Wayne bemoans how difficult it is to try and make a clean start in life.
Kennedys
Billy answers the door to Anne...
BILLY: You've got the wrong house, Ben lives next door.
Anne is furious, she wants to know what Billy has said to Ruth, to give her the wrong idea about her and Ben. Billy admits that he told Ruth where she was, but Anne thinks that Billy must have made it sound like more than that. Billy says that it should be him that is angry, he thought that he was her boyfriend, but to him it seems that she is more interested in Ben. He thinks that she prefers Ben, because he is older and can offer her more. He thought he was her boyfriend, but she is not acting like it. There is a huge argument between the two, and in the end Anne storms off as Billy tells her to forget about them going out.
The Cinema
Toadie and Rebecca are getting cosy, sharing a bag of popcorn. They both look like they are having a good time together. In the background Hannah and Lance have their beady eyes on the pair.
They watch intently as Toadie subtly places his arm around Rebecca. This prompts some 'Woo Hoos' from Lance and Hannah who are watching Toadie get closer to Rebecca. Toadie is distracted by the noise, and when he turns round he sees Lance and Hannah watching him. He gives them a glaring look as if to say 'What the hell are you doing here?' he is obviously annoyed that the pair are there spying on him, but turns back around and tries to ignore them. This proves difficult as Lance thinks that it would be funny to start throwing popcorn at Toadie, who is less than impressed. Rebecca also seems less than impressed, and wants to know what is going on. Toadie tells her that it's just some kids from the street who think that they are funny, but he is apprehensive, and obviously worried about what his 'friends' will do next.
Lou's Place.
Ben has a quote for Lou, who thinks that it's fair and tells Ben that he can have the job.
Debbie goes to the bar to order some food, some hot chips and a plate of nachos if anyone is interesting, and it's making me hungry thinking about it. LOL. Lou asks Debbie if her friend (meaning Wayne) has calmed down yet, he tells her that he nearly got into a fight with Darren earlier. Debbie assures Lou that it was Darren's fault, but Lou tells her that it's not the case, it was Wayne who started on Darren. Debbie is sure that Darren wants to split her and Wayne up, but Lou tells her that Darren has no reason to split them up, it's Wayne who is lying.
He takes Debbie aside, as she is getting upset, and tells her that Darren has been telling the truth, Wayne was the one that wanted to pull the warehouse job. Darren is disgusted with himself for almost going through with it, but Wayne has no remorse, and according to Lou he will end up back in jail very soon. Debbie asks Lou if he is sure that it is true. He is. He warns Debbie to stay well clear of Wayne as he is going to end up back in the slammer before long. Debbie looks upset.
At the movies
The picture is finished, and Rebecca and Toadie agree that they are glad that the chick died in the end, both obviously compassionate types, Toadie even thinks that the murderer should have performed a lobotomy, how charming.
Lance and Hannah bound up behind them, and ask Toadie if he is going to introduce them to his friend. Toadie tells them to grow up and get lost. They are only having a bit of fun, but Toadie doesn't find it funny and Lance and Hannah disappear.
'Kids' proclaims Toadie. Rebecca wants to know why they call him Toadie, he says it was just some stupid name he picked up at school. Rebecca thinks that Toadie would have been just like them in his school days. He was a bit of a brat. He says that he was, but obviously when he was younger at school.... Rebecca says that her little brother is just like those two, an 'annoying little dweeb' both Toadie and Rebecca agree that they are glad those days are over for them. And the viewers all sit on the edge of their seats, waiting for the moment Rebecca finds out the truth.
Lou's Place
Debbie is looking glum when she returns to the table. Wayne wonders what's up. Has Lou said something? Debbie says that Lou has said quite a lot, but Wayne says that is obvious he is a mate of Darren's and he is bound to be on his side. Debbie however is coming round to the opinion that it has been Wayne that has been lying to her, and she believes that the break in was Wayne's idea. Wayne is mad, and lets slip that it was a warehouse that they were going to knock over. Unfortunately for Wayne, Darren never mentioned that it was a warehouse that they were planning to rob, so Wayne has given the game away. It means that Wayne has to admit that he was in on it, he tells Deb that they thought about it, but both he and Darren decided against it because he is going straight, and he thinks that Debbie should give him a second chance. Debbie is not willing and tells Wayne to keep away from her from now on.
Wayne can't accept this and firmly grips her arm, getting quite violent.
Lou approaches the table and with a stern look, Wayne picks up a chair and throws it at Lou. Wayne tells Lou to give Darren his love. Lou ignores this however, tells Wayne that he is barred, and to get out and don't come back.
Wayne takes the hint and leaves, and Lou gives Debbie a consoling hug.
Kennedys
Lance and Hannah are filling Billy in on Toadie's date, telling him that Toadie was smooth.
Billy is not impressed with them, and tells them that they should give Toadie a break. He says that Toadie would be smart not to get involved with a girl. He eventually admits that he and Anne have broken up, but he is totally over it. Lance and Hannah are not convinced, but Billy is not ready to talk about it and tells them to get out.
Number 22
Debbie has come to apologise to Darren. She is sorry that she didn't believe him about Wayne, she spoke to Lou, and she realises that Wayne lied. She doesn't know why Darren has even bothered with her, as she is always treating him badly. He says that he just doesn't want her to get hurt, he admires what she is doing with the coffee shop, and he doesn't want Wayne to stuff that up for her.
Debbie tells Darren that she would like it if they could be friends, and shewill try and make it a bit smoother in future.
Outside Rebecca's house
Toadie and Rebecca's date is over, and Toadie is waiting for a rejection.
REBECCA: It's been a good night don't you think?
TOADIE: Yeah, now comes the part where you say, you're great Jarred, but I just want to be friends.
REBECCA: Why would I say that?
TOADIE: Well it's either that or you go out with me again, I just thought I would give you the easy option.
REBECCA: You are such a dag.
TOADIE: So you will go out with me again.
REBECCA: Yes.
TOADIE: YEAH?
REBECCA: If you'll go out with me again
TOADIE: Well I guess, it sounds alright.
Rebecca tells him that the only thing is that she is going away for a few days, and Toadie will have to wait until she gets back. She asks if he will miss her, and he jokingly tells her that he has women lined up around the corner. She is getting flirty though, and moving closer to Toadie, he is getting nervous about her signals, and she eventually has to ask him if he is going to kiss her good night. He says that he thought that she would never ask, and he moves in for a steamy clinch.
