Linda tells Lou and Cheryl that she comes in peace(!) Linda explains that she read about Lou being Mayor in the Queensland paper. She'd had a windfall from Aunt Mavis's death and thought she'd buy Lou's portrait for a laugh(!) Lou says Aunt Mavis was the only relative of Linda's he could ever stand(!)
Cheryl offers Linda a cup of tea. Lou looks very uncomfortable. linda tells Cheryl that their divorce was very acrimonious.

No.30
Mark is testing Cody on anatomy for her oral exam. She doesn't think she's put in enough work, but Mark says she's got most of the answers.
No.22
Lou has just seen Linda off. He turns the portrait to face the wall(!) Cheryl tells him that Linda isn't what she expected - she expected her to be more bitter and twisted(!)
CHERYL: What does she want, Lou?
LOU: Well, you heard her. To make peace, apparently.
CHERYL: Do you believe her?
LOU: I don't know, I don't know. Maybe she *has* changed. It's been ten years...more. I know I've changed in that time.
CHERYL: She wants something else.
LOU: Listen, why don't we just give her the benefit of the doubt and forget all about her. Let's not ruin tomorrow.
They hug.
Old bus
Phil comes to see Luke. He forces himself into the bus and finds Luke asleep. He tells him that Helen insists on him coming to stay with them. Luke tells him to get lost. Phil says he'll be back with some groceries.
No.22
It's Cheryl's birthday and Cheryl is opening her presents. She and Lou are getting a bit fruity (yuk) when Linda pops round. She wishes Cheryl a happy birthday and gives them some croissants (to say thank you for their hospitality the night before)
Africa
Now, I thought it had cut to an advert for Save the Children, but it turns out it's Brett and Susan being shown round an African classroom. In a voiceover, Brett is writing in his journal. After the classroom, they wander round the village saying it's a sad place, but the kids are great. They are eating maize porridge and then teach Brett and Susan some of their games. Brett feels quite humbled.
Afterwards, Susan and Brett are driven around the village looking at small shops and market stalls, and the barren landscape beyond.
BRETT (VO): I can't imagine what it must be like growing up here. Assuming you're lucky enough to grow up at all, that is. I suppose I knew there were place like this where people lived in this kind of poverty. I mean, of course I did, I'd read about them and I'd seen it on telly. But until you've actually been there...the point is, once you have, you can't pretend they don't exist.
No.24
Marlene is opening some presents for her birthday (which is apparently on the same day as Cheryl).
Gordon comes out dressed in his costume and gives them a demonstration of his magic show. He also gives Marlene a brooch for her birthday from him and Jo.
No.22
Lou and Linda are chatting, much to Cheryl's chagrin. She invites Linda pointedly to leave saying she wants to spend her birthday with Lou on their own. Lou is a rather embarrassed and tells Cheryl she was a bit abrupt.
CHERYL: Whose side are you on?
Uni
Mark drops Cody off for her exam. The lecturer Cody is avoiding (Adrian) walks past and it makes her feel nervous. Mark tells her to ignore him - he's beneath contempt.
No.22
Cheryl is still upset about Linda crashing her birthday breakfast. She is feeling quite threatened by Linda (she is very slim and has nice hair, unlike Cheryl). Lou wonders why Linda is being so civilised, but would like to make peace with her permanently. However, he loves Cheryl and is going to spoil her rotten for the rest of the day.
Old bus
Phil drops off some groceries for Luke. Luke is asleep again and Phil can't rouse him. He finds a note "All Life Is Suffering" and realises Luke has done something stupid.
Surgery
Phil rushes in and tells Karl he has Luke semi- conscious in the car.
No.24
Marlene is dressed up in a posh hat to go round to Cheryl's. Jo and Gordon talk about his career again and Gordon starts to reminisce about old times. Jo suggests that he could do a stage show - as Gloomy Gordon, reminiscing about the old times!
Surgery
Luke is awake and Karl tells him that he's just suffering from neglect. He wants Luke to get some counselling but he flatly refuses, saying there's nothing wrong with him mentally. Karl tells him firmly that Luke is behaving out of character and a lot of people care about him. Karl practically man- handles him into a seat and tells him that he will accept Phil's offer of accommodation and stay there as long as it takes for him to get back on his feet. Luke starts to cry and suddenly tells Karl that he does need help - he's lost his way and can't seem to care about anyone.
Anatomy Oral Exam
Cody does well identifying bones from a skeleton with various lecturers. She moves on to another cubicle, and shock horror it's Adrian. Cody freezes and can't answer his questions. She tells Adrian it's unfair, and the head invigilator asks her to leave saying she's disrupting the other students.
Africa
Brett and Susan are heading off on safari.
