Annalise's boss is pleased with her work and wants to take her out to dinner tonight. She doesn't want to though - she wants to keep their relationship strictly business.
Julie is sitting, devastated, in the living room when Phil comes in. He says he's got a new business deal that just might trade them out of "the hole Paul put them in".
Julie tries to get Phil to sit down so she can talk to him, but Hannah interrupts with more tirades about the rock.
Lou is having a snack at the counter and chatting to Lauren and Gaby. Gaby tells Lou that Phil and Julie are having a baby. Lou is quite pleased and says maybe Julie will leave the car yard(!). He's rapped for them, though.
Annalise is telling Mark about her successes at work. Mark is pleased to hear that she knocked Jeffrey back on his dinner offer. Mark invites her round to his place after work and she agrees.
Lou compliments Lauren on her improved cooking skills. They chat about Rick and they seem to both be enjoying his company - he's a bit like a brother to Lauren. Lauren is also enjoying Ruth and Jacob's company.
Hannah is still banging on about the rock - she reckons that she keeps having little accidents. Julie suggests that she gives it away to someone.
When Julie has stepped out, Hannah gets a phone-call from the doctor's surgery about Julie's test.
Phil is jubilant - he's done the deal! Gaby comes in and says Phil must be very proud. He thanks Gaby for being so supportive and she looks a bit confused because she thinks he is talking about the baby(!)
PHIL: I couldn't have done it without you.
PHIL: You've been so supportive through the setbacks, a real tower of strength!
GABY: Er...thanks Philip!
PHIL: I've had to put in a lot of hard work to achieve this.
GABY: Well, that's one way of looking at it I guess.
PHIL: Still, it's worth it in the end!
Ruth and Jacob comes in to see Lauren and invite her to a gathering of their friends tonight. Lauren suggests that they come to her place. She's a bit surprised to hear it's a "meeting of souls" and Jacob says they'll be bringing guitars.
When Lauren is in the kitchen, Ruth and Jacob have a chat to the accompaniment of forboding music.
JACOB: Don't try to rush this, Ruth. If we move too fast, we'll lose her.
RUTH: She's a troubled spirit.
JACOB: All the more reason to move slowly. She'll keep.
Annalise's boss has come round and tells her that they have to go out to dinner for a business meeting. She warns him to introduce her as her personal assistant, not his girlfriend.
Lauren has got some nibbles together for her guests and Lou is helping her. She tells Lou that it's nice to have new friends, especially ones that no-one else knows - she's got them all to herself.
Julie comes in and Gaby congratulates her, much to her surprise. But just then the phone goes and Gaby is called away.
The Inner Office
Phil tells Julie about the new deal, but she tells him that they have to talk urgently - and he's not going to be pleased. But she is interrupted by another phone-call.
Annalise is very suspicious because the business client hasn't turned up. She and Jeffrey chat about Mark and Annalise says that Mark isn't really the sort of man she's looking for.
Ruth, Jacob and their mates have arrived and Lauren introduces them to Lou. Jacob is a bit startled to see Lou there, but he assures them that they're going out. Lou offers them a drink, but Ruth says that none of them drink and then spurts a Bible verse to explain why. Lou is rather shocked.
Julie arrives home, still not having broken the news to Phil. She sees the note that Hannah has left by the phone - to ring her doctor back. She does so straight away.
The business clients still haven't turned up and Annalise and Jeffrey are finishing their meal. He tells Annalise that he likes her very much - she's different to any woman he's ever met.
In another part of the restaurant, two diners have asked to see the chef because their meal was so good. It's Mark - and he speaks to them in French(!) He tells them in a strong accent that he's from Belgium. He catches sight of Annalise and Jeffrey and are shocked.
Jacob calls everyone to attention and says this meeting is about welcoming Lauren into their group. They've got a gift for her - a bible. Lauren is rather shocked but Jacob tells her that they're there to help her. Ruth starts reading from her own bible and Lauren looks uncomfortable. The rest listen, rapt.
Lou invites Phil for a drink. He congratulates him on the baby but Phil thinks Lou is talking about the business deal(!)
LOU: I always knew you had it in you, son!
Annalise is telling Jeffrey that she is enjoying work on her own merits, rather than flirting with the boss.
On her way to the bathroom, Mark pulls her aside and tells her that Jeffrey is trying to make a move. Annalise says it's none of Mark's business.
Jacob finishes his prayer and everyone gets up to leave. Lauren tells Ruth and Jacob that she's not into religion - it's just not her thing. Ruth says that Lauren reminds her a lot of her - she didn't use to be religious either. Lauren insists that religion just isn't for her. Ruth gets a bit angry but Jacob intervenes, saying that they respect Lauren's opinion. They leave, saying they'll see her again soon.
Julie eventually gets through to the doctor who tells her there's been a mix-up - she's not pregnant after all. Julie is very relieved.
Phil comes home and Julie hugs him tightly saying that everything's fine.
Annalise comes back from the bathroom and wants to go home. Mark brings their desserts and ends up dropping the dessert on Jeffrey.
