Henry is moping about Bronwyn. Madge tells him about the letter Bronwyn received calling her a tart. This is news to Henry who says Bronwyn probably thinks she wrote it!
Harold comes in stinking of the rash cream having slept in Charlene's room overnight! He's just off to work much to Madge's amazement - she says he'll scare the customers away. Harold says he's not unwell, so he's going to work!
Jim wonders where Lucy has got to because he wanted to give her a pep talk. She comes in through the back door and tells Jim that Carolyn didn't cheat - it was her. Jim is confused - Lucy gave her word yesterday that she hadn't done it. Jim is very cross and says he's bitterly disappointed in her - he thought they'd brought her up better than that. He tells Lucy she's grounded and stalks off.
Todd asks Lucy what she's doing but Lucy insists it's the truth and runs off to her name. Todd looks thoughtful and starts leafing through the telephone directory to find Carolyn's phone number.
Bronwyn tells Jane that Des's rash cream is very stinky. Jane wants to know about the seating plan for the wedding - where to put Bronwyn and Henry. Bronwyn says to put them at opposite ends of the room. Jane also tells Bronwyn about Mrs Granger popping around to a dishevelled house. Jane isn't sure how she feels about her marrying her son. She's worried that Joe has invited himself to dinner too!
Garden of the Mangels
Joe asks Henry to take care of his garden to spruce it up a bit. Henry has a look around and finds a dope plant! Joe didn't plant it, but he looks interested. Henry says he'd better get rid of it quick because if the cops find it, he'll go to prison.
Henry and Joe are discussing the dope plant. Joe can't think who could have planted it - it couldn't have been Jane or Toby. Henry suggests it could be Mrs Mangel! Finally he says the seed probably came from a bird spreading seeds. Henry suggests that they burn the plant, but not get too close to the smoke. But Joe suddenly says he has a much better idea!
The Coffee Shop
Jane is worried about the dinner with Mark's mother tonight and Bronwyn is encouraging her. Harold comes out and they tell him that the smell is a bit off-putting around food. Madge says he's driving customers away and Jane agrees. Madge sends Harold home.
Todd has turned up at the house and rings the bell. Carolyn herself answers the door. Todd tells Carolyn that Lucy is in heaps of trouble and it's scummy of Carolyn to let Lucy take the blame. He tells her to think about telling the truth.
Very posh house
Jane and Joe pull up in a chauffeur-driven car dressed in their best clothes. They wait in the hallway and Jane tells Joe that she's really nervous and hopes he'll behave properly. Joe says he'll be fine.
Henry calls round and says he's had a cancellation - he could do the backyard this afternoon. But Bronwyn says it's not convenient as she's only just got Jamie off to sleep. Henry brings up the letter but Bronwyn doesn't think it's a big deal. Henry suggests that someone should be around to protect her and he offers his services. Bronwyn is very cross and says she can look after herself. Henry slopes off sadly.
Very posh house
Dinner has been served and Jane is making smalltalk with Mrs Granger. Joe says that he's been waterskiing. Mrs Granger doesn't look very impressed with Joe who keeps making inappropriate comments!
Jane then upsets a glass in her nervousness.
Later at the very posh house
Joe gets up to go home because of the babysitter. He asks the chauffeur if he can drive!!
Jane tells Mrs Granger some details of the wedding, but she doesn't seem very interested. Mrs Granger starts talking about how Jane will be living at Long Island and she will have to choose her own maid. Jane is stunned - it's such a different world for her.
Jim is on the phone to Lucy's school. When he's finished, Jim calls Lucy out. He tells her he can't understand why Carolyn has called the school and confessed. Lucy pours out the story about not wanting Carolyn to get into trouble. Jim hugs her and tells her to come straight to her next time. Lucy wonders why Carolyn suddenly decided to own up, and Todd just smiles quietly to himself.
Joe is writing a note to Mrs Chubb. He puts it with the marijuana plant which is now in a pot!
Very posh house
Mrs Granger offers Jane a liquor. Mark goes to get it while Jane sits with Mrs Granger. Mrs Granger tells her that she's a charming girl, but she comes from another world. She has no doubt that Jane loves Mark, but she'll be doing him a great disservice if she goes through with the wedding.
