Helen is dishing out some breakfast to Todd and Katie and ushers Katie to hurry up as she's being a ‘slow coach'. Katie wonders what Beverly is going to bring her back from Adelaide as she always brings them something back when she goes away. Todd teases her saying that he doubts Beverly cares enough for her to bring anything back but Helen assures her that it's unlikely she's been forgotten. Jim rushes into the kitchen when Helen asks him what time he's going to the airport but Jim reminds her that it's completely up to ‘the boss' Rob as he was not pleased when he went to pick up Todd that one time. Katie thinks that they should all make a cake to welcome Beverly home but Todd doesn't want to unless Helen helps them, which she agrees to. Helen brings up the 50's night concert that Harold is organising but Jim expresses his reluctance to be at all involved, much to Katie and Todd's disappointment. Todd ‘reckons' that just doesn't want to get dressed up which Helen agrees with but Jim ‘reckons' that he's going to be late for work.
The Coffee Shop
Jane comes in and says hello to Des who is looking a little down in the dumps. Jane wants to pick up the order for Gail and Paul which Des goes behind the counter to collect. Des says that she's glad she came in as he wants to apologise for last night.
DES: Obviously I said something to upset you.
JANE: No Des it's not you. It's everybody. Ever since I broke up with Mike all the people in my life have had something to say about it.
DES: Including me
Des, yet again, says that he is sorry as he doesn't like seeing Jane unhappy but Jane says that he has better things to worry about than her before making her way to the door, leaving a concerned Des to let out a sigh.
Jim is explaining to Rob that he has just rang the airport to see if Beverly's flight is still on time so is wondering if she could pick her up. Rob says that it's ‘getting a bit of habit' that he is taking time off but apparently ‘we married men must stick together' so he indicates that Jim can go if he wants to. Rob talks to Jim about marriage and how it's the best thing that has happened to him in years but he truly does not want to loose Gail as apparently at his wedding she was ‘a million miles away' thinking about Ian Chadwick (her biological father). Jim attempts to assure him that he hasn't lost Gail and that he's probably leading to too many conclusions.
Gail is just getting off the phone when she rushes in to Jane and asks her to cancel a meeting as she's just made other plans. Jane complains that it's a little late notice however and she doesn't know what to tell them so Gail suggests that she tells them that she had to cancel for ‘personal reasons'. Jane apologises to Gail for jumping the gun a bit but Gail can guess that she's feeling bad about Mike. Jane says that ‘he said that as well' which makes Gail question who she is talking about but Jane insists that she can't say anything about it. Gail reminds her that Jane has been a shoulder for her to cry on, on many occasions so she really wants to help her so Jane begins to pour her heart out.
JANE: You know I didn't break up with Mike because I was bored or anything like that.
GAIL: I didn't think for a moment that you had.
JANE: I was just so confused. I still am. (She sighs) Gail I'm in love with Des.
Finally, she admits it to someone!
Helen, Todd and Katie are rushing into the kitchen whilst Helen is going through all the ingredients they're going to need. However, Helen says that nobody is going to be doing anything until they get changed out her school clothes. The phone rings – it's Morris saying that the art catalogue have put all the wrong numbers on the art pieces so Helen is going to have go there, and change them herself which means that the Cake making is ‘out of the question'. Todd insists that he'll take over and make sure that Katie doesn't make a mess which Helen reluctantly agrees to as she leaves through the door. Katie comes out and Todd reveals to her that he's now in charge. “But how much is four ounces?” Todd asks.
Jane is telling Gail that she didn't want to fall in love with Mike's best friend but it just happened. She says that she would be good for Des and Jamie and that they need her but Gail thinks that because everyone felt sorry for Des and Jamie when Daphne died she might be confusing her feelings of pity for love. However Jane disagrees and goes on to say that she has tried to tell Des, but the time just hasn't felt right. As Paul and Ian arrive in Jane quickly tells Gail not to say anything to anyone which Gail says she won't. Paul announces that he has arranged for Ian's bags to be brought over to their place as he's going to spend the rest of his time in Erinsborough with them. Gail seems delighted however Ian is worried that Rob will be angry with him but Gail assures him that Rob's ‘bark is worse than his bite'. Gail gleefully announces that they'll have to make themselves breakfast in the morning as she's being taken in for her first lot of IVF injections. They're both delighted and hug. Their heads join in a unison of swaying while Paul pinches and rubs her nose as they both laugh. (Oh My God! Awww I officially love Paul and Gail!)
Ian comes along, introduces himself to Jim who is working on a car and asks where Rob is. Ian says that they're in-laws now before being interrupted by Rob who says that Jim better get going now if he wants to pick up Beverly from the airport on time so Jim leaves. Rob asks what Ian is doing here and Ian says that he is here to tell him that Paul and Gail have asked him to stay at theirs for the rest of the time he is in Erinsborough. Ian doesn't want to cause any trouble between them, for Gail's sake. Ian says he knows Rob doesn't like him but they should try to get on, or at least pretend to.
Gail announces that she's managed to reschedule everything for her IVF appointment so Paul won't even know she's gone. Des comes in and asks if Paul will come down to the Waterhole after work so they can talk about Jane as he thinks she's been acting a bit weird lately as last night when he started to talk about Mike, she bolted for the door. Gail tries to explain that she's probably still upset over the way they broke up but Des thinks that there's more to it. Paul wants to take up Des's offer of meeting up at the Waterhole tomorrow so Des agrees before leaving. Paul asks Gail if she's noticed anything strange about Jane lately but Gail says that it depends on what he means by ‘strange'.
Todd and Katie have made a complete mess in the kitchen with cake mixture all over the kitchen and on their faces. Jim and an exhausted Beverly come in and Beverly admits defeat and says that Jim was right about staying with Hilary as she didn't help that much. Jim and Beverly make for the kitchen and comments on how clean the place is looking thanks to Helen. “There's nothing worse than coming home to a mess” she says before seeing the state of the kitchen as well as Katie and Todd.
Todd and Katie have cleaned themselves up as Helen explains that she didn't think she'd be so long. Todd and Katie show Beverly the cake and she comments on how amazing it looks. Katie asks about her Mum and Beverly tells her how great she's doing now and it won't be long until she's allowed out of hospital. Beverly remembers that Hilary gave her a present to bring to them all - “The Robinson family photo album” which prompts Todd and Katie to go rushing towards it to see what it contains. Apparently Beverly thought that if Jim had a memory jog by looking at the pictures from the 50's then he might decide to participate in the 50's party.
Paul and Gail's
Ian is coming down the stairs and says that he has sorted all of his clothes out properly. Gail comes along with some tea and biscuits and says that she hopes that he is comfortable but Ian just goes on about how proud he of Gail and how she's done well for herself with the great family set up. Ian comments on how nice it was to meet Jim earlier on and he was such a nice man so Gail suggests that Paul takes him over to meet the rest of the family which Paul thinks is a good idea. The door knocks, Paul opens it to find Rob making his way in. Ian says he's glad that Rob has come over as now ‘everyone is here' so he's going to get a bottle of something for them all to share as a celebration for tomorrow. Rob asks what's happening tomorrow so Gail explains that she's going in for her IVF treatment but Rob wishes that she had told him sooner.
Des and Mike's
Des opens the door to Jane who says that she can't stay but she just wants to apologise properly for what happened last night. She says that she was upset about her split with Mike and she had no right to take it out on him, it's just she's ‘really confused'. Des ushers her to the couch and says that he understands that it isn't easy to end a relationship but that she'll meet someone else. However, Jane says that she doesn't want to. A silence occurs so Des talks about Daphne and how one day he'll have to move on, but it'll take someone more than special for him to fall in love with someone again.
Paul and Gail's
Ian and Paul are talking business whilst Rob is reading a magazine when Gail comes over and says that she can find something better for him to read. He reads the list of baby names that Gail has written down and realises that the name Ian is there but not Rob. Gail says that it was just coincidence as he she wrote those names down before she even knew that her father was named Ian but Rob doesn't believe any of it and says that Gail has practically ignored him since Ian has been here. Gail says that's not fair so Ian stands up and tells Rob that he thinks he is over-reacting but Rob doesn't ‘give a damn' about his opinion so leaves.
