Gail has revealed that the adoption agency is going to put her in touch with her real father. However, Rob is less than impressed and begins profusely staring into space answering with only monotonous groans. Gail assures him that he loves him and this isn't going to change anything.
Des and Mike's
Mike is asking Des whether or not he should take his tripod to Canberra and Des advises that he should take it with him. Des has been attempting to feed Jamie, with no luck so he chucks his food away. The conversation quickly turns to Jane as Des thinks that he shouldn't ‘go running off like this' before talking to Jane. Mike politely tells him to butt out. Coincidentally the door bell goes and Jane enters, wanting to speak to Mike. She doesn't want him to go to Canberra feeling ‘like this'. However he wants to know ‘the score' and whether or not he and Jane are still going out. She needs time to think, but Mike has made the decision for her. ‘We're finished!'
Paul and Gail's
Paul starts talking to Gail but she isn't listening as she's intently writing. Paul asks her what she's doing but replies that she is feeling embarrassed about it. Paul confronts her by sitting on her lap and she reveals that she is writing a list of questions to ask her real father. Paul advises that she should ring him up and ask him these questions but she needs more time to think about and get used to everything that's happened. They pash, looking into each other's eyes.
Charlene and Scott are walking down their driveway and both comment on how much they're going to miss each other prompting Scott to remind her that he is only going for a week. Mike and Pete are putting their bags in the car when Jane comes along asking him not to be mad. Mike apologises about getting angry last night, but reminds her that they're defiantly over. Everyone is ready to go so they get into the car as Scott and Charlene say how much they're going to miss each other. As Scott gets into the car, he unwinds the window and kisses Charlene as the car drives off. When their lips part because the car is driving to fast, Charlene punches the air and says. “I love you! I love you! I love you!” (Natasha Bedignfield anyone?) Charlene can tell that Jane is feeling upset so begins to walk with her.
Jane and Charlene walk in and Charlene says she doesn't understand. Jane says that she doesn't either. Apparently she has never been so confused in all her life because there's more to it than just Mike. Charlene senses that there is another guy and begins to get angry but Jane reveals that this ‘guy' doesn't even know how she feels about him. Charlene pressurises Jane into telling her who it is but Jane says she can't tell her.
Canberra – The Institute
The car that Pete, Mike and Scott are in stops and Pete gets out in astonishment as he sees how big the institute is. Mike takes some pictures of him whilst Scott asks some questions with a Dictaphone.
The Coffee Shop
Des and Jane are having a quick something to eat when Des comments on how early Jane was up to say goodbye to Mike. Des reveals to Jane that he knows everything that happened between her and Mike because Mike needed someone to open up to. He asks if there is any chance the two of them will be getting back together again and she says that she doesn't think so. Des says that he isn't going to ask anymore questions but worries that Jane won't be coming round anymore to visit him and Jamie however she says that she could come over today.
Jane enters into the office to be greeted with a panicked Gail who is looking for an important file which Paul cannot find. Jane manages to tell her where she left it in the office so Paul follows her in. Gail continues to search some drawers when a man comes in, and introduces himself as Ian Chadwick. . . Gail's father.
Scott and Mike are looking around the institute when Scott comments on how ‘fit' the female athletes looks prompting Mike to remind him that he is a married man. Pete comes along and says that he wants to leave because all the other athletes look very good and he doesn't think he can compete against the professionals. Scott and Mike assure him that he ‘has it made'. A young blonde woman comes strolling along and introduces herself as Rachel Frasier who Mike looks particularly interested in. She gives Pete her training schedule and the key's for her room. They all decide to go for a swim after being escorted to their room by Rachel.
Paul and Jane are continuing their search for the missing file when Gail comes in and asks Jane to leave them alone for a while. Jane agrees and Gail introduces Paul to her Dad. Paul says that it is a bit of a surprise to see him but it is quite alright. Paul says that they should go home to chat. Ian agrees so Gail goes to talk to Jane for a while leaving Ian and Paul to chit-chat. Paul warns Ian not to upset Gail but Ian says that he is going to be very careful not to.
Pete, Rachel, Mike and Scott are just finishing their swim when they all comment on how good it feels after the long drive. They spot some famous athletes so Scott asks Rachel if she could organise an interview with them with she says she'll sort out. Rachel asks Mike if he'll want to take some photos which he says would be good, only if it's okay with her. Scott and Pete disappear leaving Mike and Rachel to talk about how hard it is to get into the institute. Rachel offers to show Mike around Canberra much to his and Scott's delight. Scott thinks that she might just be a rebound from Jane.
Paul and Gail's
Gail and her father Ian are talking about roof tiles and Tasmania until the conversation turns to Gail's marriage with Paul which she describes as ‘good' as she is ‘happy' with Paul. Ian asks Gail if it's okay to talk about her Mother, she says she would like to so he tells her that her name is Louise and that he first saw her at a Christmas party many years ago. He thought she was beautiful. He reveals that they were very much in love, but when she told her parents she was pregnant her parents broke them apart by sending Louise to England. Ian doesn't know where she is anymore and reveals that he has two teenage sons who he isn't very close to. Gail describes it as ‘a sad' story and is glad that they've made contact with each other.
Paul and Jane are holding some sort of meeting when an angry Rob storms in demanding to know why he wasn't told Gail's father is here. Rob continues to get angry and storms of to meet the ‘man who claims to be Gail's father'. Paul quickly rushes to the phone to ring Gail.
Paul and Gail's
Gail is telling her father Ian about how much she loves horses when there is a knock on the door – It's Rob. Gail introduces Dad-to-Dad and decides to get some Coffee for everyone. Ian tells Rob that he should be proud of Gail and that he brought her up well. Rob takes him aside that says. “I brought her up, I educated her, worried about her, and gave her everything she wanted, so if you think you can walk in here and just take her away then forget it. Do you hear me? Forget it!”
