Jane comes round with Mrs Mangel. She asks Daphne to "babysit" Mrs Mangel while she goes in to work to pick up some papers she can work on at home. Daphne agrees. Mrs Mangel is still confused and says she'll be glad when Len gets back. Daphne tells Jane quietly that she'll have to tell Mrs Mangel about Len, but Jane doesn't think Mrs Mangel is ready yet.
Henry has got the filtration machine going and Harold is very pleased. Henry tells Harold that Madge is very depressed about them breaking off the engagement. Harold advises Harold to take a cap off part of the machine. When he starts it, the water squirts out of it and all over Harold. Harold is soaked to the skin. Harold is angry and stalks off. Henry collapses in laughter.
Mrs Mangel is probing Daphne for details of their relationship and that of other people in the street. Daphne tells her diplomatically that she was always involved in anything that was going on. Mrs Mangel likes her new house and says that Len must be doing very well. She says that she'll call Len's office to check on him, but Daphne says that her phone's out of order.
Harold staggers in, dripping wet, carrying his shoes. He goes off for a shower.
Daphne is clearly irritated by Mrs Mangel inspecting her crockery and her house. Mrs Mangel talks about how proud she is of Jane and how disappointed she is that Jane hasn't gone to university. She says she'll have a talk with her on the subject. Daphne says that a lot of things have happened that Mrs Mangel can't remember - she'd better wait until she gets her memory back.
The phone rings and it's Mike. He wants to know why Daphne hasn't come to the Coffee Shop. She asks him to hang on there a bit longer, she'll be there as soon as she can. When Daphne puts the phone down, Mrs Mangel says that she thought that the phone was out of order(!) Daphne claims the phone will take incoming calls. But Mrs Mangel says she knows when she's being lied to, memory or no memory, and walks out.
Daphne has followed Mrs Mangel home. Mrs Mangel is surprised to hear that someone is in the shower and thinks it must be Len. Before Daphne can stop her, she opens the door to the shower and we hear a scream.
Mrs Mangel is lying on the sofa and Daphne is trying to console her. Mrs Mangel says that she'll call the police to arrest Harold(!) Jane comes in at that moment and Harold comes out in his dressing-gown.
Scott is telling Charlene about his job as a kitchenhand. She thinks hes rushing into things - she thinks that now they're waiting until they move in together, Scott can afford to go back to school. Scott guesses that Jim has been talking to her, but Charlene says she doesn't want to responsible for stopping Scott having a career. She starts to cry and says that if Scott takes the kitchenhand job, he'll grow to hate her. Scott says that that will never happen and hugs her.
Mrs Mangel is still traumatised by the presence of Harold in the house. Jane sends him to the kitchen while she has a word. Jane explains that Harold is their boarder but Mrs Mangel is doubtful. She says that she doesn't think that Harold is a man to trust around women(!) She says she wants Harold out of her house.
Henry is still looking for the ring, but isn't having much luck - there's loads of junk in the lake. Scott tells him about the kitchenhand job and how Charlene wants him to go back to school. Henry says he's going to help Scott with the bond - he'll give him the money he gets for cleaning the lake. Scott is very pleased.
Helen suggests that Paul invite Gail over for dinner. Harold comes in and tells Paul and Helen that he's moving in to Lassiters - Mrs Mangel has evicted him. Paul hopes that Mrs Mangel will be better soon - she's no good to him if she can't remember her job.
Mrs Mangel is quizzing Jane about her job. Mrs Mangel is pleased to hear that she works in a 4 star hotel. But she gets stressed out because she can't remember any of it - how will she do her job? She starts going on about Len. She gets up to ring Len's office so Jane tells her that he'll be back the day after tomorrow. Mrs Mangel is relieved and puts the phone down. She says that everything will be alright once Len gets back.
Helen is looking at old photos of herself. Scott says she was pretty goodlooking(!). Helen tells him that she was married at 17. Apparently her parents were against the marriage, but she and Bill wore them down. She still thinks it was the right decision. Scott suddenly looks thoughtful and tells Helen he's going out for a while - there's something he has to do.
A man comes in with a car and asks for a mechanic to lookat his oil. Everyone is out, so Charlene says she'll have a look at it. She climbs under the car.
Scott comes up on his skateboard and drags her out from under the car.
CHARLENE: I've only got half an hour to fix the oil leak.
SCOTT: All you have to say is yes, and then you can get on with it.
CHARLENE: I've heard that one before. Yes what?
SCOTT: Yes I will.
CHARLENE: Yes I will what?
SCOTT: Marry me?
