Des and Daphne are having a pash on the couch. Daphne wants to wait up for Mike to come home - she's worried about his motorbike. Des tries to persuade her to go to bed, but Daphne says she's feeling fine. She tells Des that nothing will go wrong with the baby. Daphne says she met someone in the hospital who went into labour so fast that her baby was born at home. Des goes a bit pale and Daphne reassures him that it won't happen to them. (Ha!!!) She says she'll dig out some books of instruction for Des just in case(!)
JANE: How did it go, Nan?
MRS MANGEL: Oh, splendidly Jane, arrangements for the church fete are well in hand.
JANE: And what are you in charge of this year?
MRS MANGEL: Publicity. Reverend Sampson told me that he thought I was the best possible person for spreading the word.
Jane smiles to herself quietly at this and Mrs Mangel goes on to tell her about her advertising campaign. Jane says she'll have to be careful, everyone has been after the Reverend since his wife died last year. But Mrs Mangel says she's still a married woman. She suggests inviting the Reverend's son, Luke, over for tea, but Jane says she won't be in. Jane tells her that she's going out to sell Liquid Beauty door-to-door. Mrs Mangel is not impressed with the scheme.
Paul is discussing the finer details of their marriage contract with Gail (bank accounts etc). Also he wants to set a date. Gail says she doesn't want a church ceremony, just a civil service. Paul suggests four weeks from tomorrow.
Rob comes in - he's been to talk to Jeremy's brother. Gail tells him that Meredith is sleeping upstairs. Rob is very annoyed with Jeremy - he had them all fooled except Paul. Gail tells Rob that she and Paul have set a date, much to his surprise. He's pleased though, and shakes Paul's hand in congratulations.
When Paul has gone, Rob asks if Gail is really sure about Paul. She says she is. Rob tells her to make sure she's marrying for love - nothing else. He goes off to bed.
GAIL: (to herself) Love is for fools, Dad.
Jim and Scott are squabbling over cooking the breakfast. Helen is reading the Erinsborough News and Jeremy and the car are front-page news.

Scott and Charlene off to pick up the Liquid Beauty stock - Charlene is confident about their chances. Henry is less confident, however.
Helen wants to have an engagement party for Paul and Gail, but Gail suggests just a small dinner party. When Paul and Gail have gone, Helen says she's worried - she doesn't know what's happening with Gail's feelings for Jeremy. Helen just wants Paul to be happy with the right girl.
Paul tells Gail that she should pick out an engagement ring - he gives her a blank cheque. He says she should then show it to Helen to keep up the pretence.
Scott, Charlene and Henry have returned with the Liquid Beauty stock. Jane agrees that they can keep it in her garage.
Charlene tries to sell some Liquid Beauty to Mrs Mangel. She says she'll give her two free bottles in return for some storage space in her garage. Mrs Mangel is doubtful, but agrees. She shoos them all out.
Rob and Jim are covering the remains of No.13 with a tarpaulin. Rob thinks it should go for scrap metal - it's killed enough people, and there have been loads of small accidents linked to it. Rob says he'll call the wreckers. Jim isn't so sure though - he thinks it woud be a pity. He looks thoughtful.
The Reverend Sampson calls round to see Mrs Mangel. Jane is polishing the furniture with Liquid Beauty. The Reverend compliments Jane on the shine on the furniture. Jane explains about Liquid Beauty and the Reverend says it would be great for the wooden church pews.
Charlene is trying to sell Liquid Beauty to Rob and Jim. Rob says Charlene will have to demo it by detailing a car with it.
Des is trying to change a nappy on a doll. He isn't doing very well - he's stuck the safety pin into the doll! Daphne gives him the books on childbirth. Des sits down to read and feels a bit faint at the graphic pictures(!)
The bell goes and it's Henry. He's come to flog some Liquid Beauty.
Mrs Mangel, Jane and the Reverend are having tea. The Reverend goes to pick up his cup and finds it stuck to the table. Then Jane realises that the tea tray is stuck too. Jane looks very worried - she's used it on all of the furniture in the house. The Reverend gets up and find his hat and briefcase are stuck too!
Gail is showing Helen her engagement ring. Helen asks if she's sure, but Gail says she wants to spend the rest of her life with Paul. Jim comes in with a bottle of Liquid Beauty(!) Jim says that Rob wants to scrap No.13 but he thinks it's a waste - he's decided to buy the car himself.
