Hospital
Jean tells Jeff again that she and Tom are just friends. Jeff thinks that Tom sees her has more than a friend - he's not exactly happy about it, but Jean does needs someone, he says. They should face up to reality - she's done her duty to him for 15 years and she should do something for herself now.
Tom comes back with his coffee and says that unfortunately he'll have to head off.
JEFF: He seems like a nice man.
JEAN: Yeah. But he's not my husband.
Coffee Shop
Madge comes in looking for Daphne so she can get advice for the figures for the top of the cake, but only Clive is there. Madge moans on about Charlene, but Clive reckons that Charlene can look after herself - she's a very resourceful girl.
Motel
Charlene comes back - she didn't get the job because there were 50 other applicants and they all had experience. She's determined to keep trying though so she and Scott can get a flat together.
Beach-front
Mike and Cassie are walking along. Scott and Charlene join them and Mike suggests getting a takeaway tonight. Just then a bloke from the diving comes along and says he's out of the competition for, and so it Scott. He reckons they haven't taken it seriously and they have to be out of the motel by 5pm!
Coffee Shop
Clive and Zoe are chatting about the wedding. Zoe observes that Clive is working very hard for the wedding, and for free too!
CLIVE: Well, it's the least I can do for Daphne, she is one of the world's nicest people, and she's top of my Christmas card list.
ZOE: Sounds like you're in love with her yourself!
CLIVE: Isn't everyone!?
Zoe laughs and just then a bloke called Tony comes in - Zoe is delighted to see him. Apparently he's just got back from England - Zoe used to go out with him a few years ago. He invites her out to lunch, but she's a bit busy this weeked with Daphne's wedding. Tony is amazed that Daphne is getting married and Zoe invites him along to the wedding. He gives her his card.
When Tony has gone, Zoe tells Clive that Tony is the most terrific guy in the whole world!
Motel
Charlene, Scott and Mike are packing their things. Cassie suggests that they all come and stay with her for a few days and they accept. Charlene isn't keen, but she has no choice really! She still doesn't like Cassie much though.
Outside the Coffee Shop
Jean tells Tom that she still feels responsible for Jeff and she still loves him. Tom says he couldn't ask Jean to leave him. She says she can't go on with Tom - she married Jeff for life. Tom says Jean is just his nurse, not his wife, but Jean says it's no good - she'll have to have time to think it through. She doesn't want Tom to call or see her in that time, although she'll still go to the wedding on the weekend.
Cassie's place
Charlene suggests that they all look for work. Mike says he can't - he has to get back for Daphne's wedding. But Cassie talks him into staying instead. Scott thinks that Charlene should ring Madge to give her an update and she reluctantly agrees. They drink a toast to the future.
No.24
Madge is on the phone to Fred, very upset. Apparently he hasn't used Madge's money to help his business.
MADGE: You've hurt me and you've hurt Charlene, and I'm going to make sure that you never get that opportunity again!
She slams the phone down.
A few seconds later, the phone rings again, and it's Charlene. Madge is relieved to hear from her and tells her that Fred isn't coming back. Charlene wants her to give Fred a break and reckons that Madge always gives Fred a hard time. She says she's staying on a bit longer in Manly and tells Madge not to hassle her. Madge says Charlene had better be home tomorrow, or she might as well not bother coming home at all. Charlene says that suits her fine, and slams the phone down!
Cassie's place
Scott and Mike are both off to job interviews. Cassie has to go to a modelling job and asks Charlene to clean up while she's out. She suggests that Charlene could be a model too - she'll help her to get into the industry. Charlene is chuffed.
No.24
Madge and Zoe are chatting about the wedding. She tells Zoe to tell Paul that Fred won't be taking the job at Lassiter's because Fred isn't coming back to Erinsborough - they're not getting back together anymore. But Madge says she's managed by herself for a long time and she'll go on doing it.
Cassie's place
Charlene has got the place spotless when Cassie comes back. She's lined up a photographer to take some pictures of Charlene - he's coming over to take some test shots around 11am. Charlene says she doesn't have anything to wear, but Cassie says that doesn't really matter. She tells Charlene not to tell Scott and Mike in case it doesn't work out.
Street
Scott and Mike have both failed to get jobs. They carry on to some other shops to try their lucky there.
No.24
Madge is working on the wedding cake when Clive comes in. He admires the cake and then notices that Madge is crying. She pours out the story about Fred dumping her and Charlene being blind to Fred's faults.
MADGE: I just couldn't face the thought of losing Charlene as well. I probably have now because she's got the impression that I told her father not to come back.
Clive sympathises and says he's sure the kids back for the wedding. And would Madge really want Fred back? She admits that she does still love Fred, but she doesn't even know where Charlene is.
Cassie's place
Charlene is quite nervous about being photographed. The photographer arrives and tells her she has great bone structure. Cassie heads off, much to Charlene's dismay. When she's gone, the photographer tells Charlene that there's no need to be nervous. He looks closely at her legs and asks her if Cassie told her the full story - that he takes nude photographs.
Charlene looks shocked.
