Shane sells his diving trophies - he wants to move on with his life.
Max finds some diving photos in the bin. There's one of him and Shane. He looks at it sadly.
Danny tells Maria that he'll get a job so he can buy Shane's trophies back. Maria says there's no point - Shane doesn't want them back.
Shane comes out and asks Danny why he isn't going to school. Danny says he's still sick after the drugs incident.
SHANE: You were alright yesterday. Had a relapse, have you?
DANNY: Yeah. That must be it!
SHANE: Pity about your appetite!
Shane says that he's going to the doctor today for his final check up, then he's going to get a job.
Harry is doing some sit-ups and says Des should do the same.
Just then, Shane calls around. Harry is going out and asks Daphne to take messages from his girlfriends! Especially Margaret Haywood!
Des explains to Shane that Harry is delusional. Daphne says he just had a vivid imagination.
SHANE: Hope it doesn't run in the family.
Daphne throws a cushion at him!
Shane comes to see Paul - he's been to the doctor and he's in great shape. So now he can get a regular job, as long as it isn't too strenuous. He doesn't want a desk job and he isn't very well qualified. Shane says he's quite like to have a go for the airline with Paul.
Paul tells Shane that he's been training with a gorgeous girl called Gloria - she's coming for dinner tomorrow night. Paul says he'll call the airline to see if Shane can have an interview.
Maria comes in with a present for Shane. She's bought him a nice initialled briefcase with the money left over from selling the trophies.
Shane comes in and says he's got an interview with the airline this afternoon. Maria starts fussing over him and says he has to look smart!
Paul comes in and Daphne offers him a coffee. She is looking through the Situations Vacant. She says Des found out about the one-off stripping job - he's just like his mother sometimes.
Paul suggests she joins the airline with him and Shane! Daphne is pleased to hear that Shane has an interview - she'll keep her fingers crossed.
Shane has got a nice suit on for his interview. She presents him with the briefcase and he loves it. She says she wants Shane to look smart when he's flying around the world. Maria and Danny wish Shane luck.
When Shane has gone, Maria says that she hopes Shane gets the job - he's been through a lot these last few months. It's good to see him doing something and hopes he won't be disappointed.
Shane's interview is just ending. They say they'll call him in for a second interview - his diving record shows he's ambitious and hard-working, and that's what they're looking for. He thinks Shane will get through the next interview and the medical. Shane gives the man his medical report.
Shane is telling Paul, Maria and Danny that his interview went well and he'll have a second interview. Danny says if they'll take Paul on, Shane won't have any problems!
The phone rings and Danny answers it - it's the airline. They tell him that his medical report isn't good enough - he's a health risk. Shane is very upset.
Garden of the Ramsays
Danny follows Shane out to the garden and tells him it's the airline's loss - he'll get something else. Shane's afraid that all jobs will be the same because of the accident. Danny thinks it's all his fault.
Maria comes out but Shane says he has to follow Danny to talk to him.
Shane apologises for his comment about the accident. He says he was just disappointed about the airline job. Danny isn't convinced - he says he's ruined everything for Shane. Shane says they both have to stop living in the past or they'll both end up like Max. He tells Danny to stop sulking or he'll do something drastic!
Harry is cheerfully tying a scarf around his neck. Des doesn't like Harry's aftershave, he says it smells like Eau de Tarzan(!) Harry tells Daphne that he's going out to dinner with his girlfriend and not to wait up! He tells her to take a message if Margaret Haywood calls.
When Harry has gone, Des rolls his eyes and Daphne says that Harry does go over the top a bit. Daphne says his imagination isn't hurting anyone.
Daphne hasn't talked to Harry about leaving yet. She couldn't bring herself to turn him out.
DAPHNE: Des, he's a sweet old man, really.
DES:(sternly) He's an old bludger, and if you don't tell him, I will.
Later at Des's
Daphne is reading a book and ignoring Des. She answers the phone to Harry's girlfriend, Yvette. She's at the hospital - there has been in a fight. Daphne tells her that she'll come down straight away.
Des offers to drive Daphne to the hospital.
Yvette meets Des and Daphne and tells them excitedly what happened. He will have to stay in hospital for a couple of days.
It turns out that it isn't Harry who's been beaten up - Harry has done the beating up! - of Yvette's ex-boyfriend, Tiger, a boxer. Tiger tells them to keep the "maniac" away from him and he's going to sue him. Des says he'd better not - the headline would be "Pensioner KO's Queensland Champ" and all Tiger's mates would laugh! Des says they'll go and organise a solicitor(!) Tiger agrees to forget about it this time(!)
Harry is packing and Daphne has called a cab. Harry says it's typical of the young not to think about the country's pioneers. That he went to war twice to make the country safe. now he's alone and discarded and unwanted, tossed aside like an old slipper. Des is unmoved and says that his nerves can't stand having Harry around.
Harry sighs deeply and says that Des is a hard man. He says that Des will be next. He says he's off to the People's Palace. The taxi arrives and Daphne hands him his parrot. Des gives him money for the taxi. Harry says it's conscience money(!) He kisses Daphne goodbye.
When Harry has gone, Des says that now they can get back to some normal living. Daphne says Harry's not in his prime anymore. Des says he'd hate to have seen Harry in his prime(!) Daphne doesn't know what he'll do now. Des groans and says he hopes Daphne hasn't changed her mind!
The phone rings and it's someone calling for Harry. It's Margaret Haywood herself! She says she simply must speak to Harry!
