Ramsay Street
Remi and Cara are panicking; JJ's done biking before, but never on the road. Cara suggests she follow JJ in her ute, but Remi's worried he'll speed up if he thinks they're chasing him and put himself in danger. Andrew appears, and Cara explains JJ took the bike after fighting with Dex.
REMI (crying): If something happens to him...
CARA: Okay. He'll be alright.
REMI: He's got no protective gear on! I've seen what can happen!
Andrew says they should go to find him - he'll head to West Waratah while Cara checks out Lassiter's. She tells Remi to stay with Dex and keep her phone handy. At this point, Dex and Wendy both emerge from their respective houses. Andrew tells Wendy he'll explain later, and gets in his car, while Remi comforts Dex.
A road somewhere
JJ is riding down the road on the motorbike, looking very upset.

Reece is hanging out with Byron, talking about where she'll live if she's staying in Erinsborough permanently.
BYRON: You can always get matching penthouses with Paul.
REECE (laughs): Absolutely not.
BYRON: You could move in here.
REECE: Well, you say that as a joke, but I wouldn't mind.
They kiss. Haz and Mackenzie have come in at the back door, and whisper to each other.
HAZ: I still can't get used to this.
MACKENZIE: Reece Sinclair is on our couch.
HAZ: And Trevor's hair is all over it.
MACKENZIE: The same hair that once ended up in her coffee.
Haz sniggers, but it seems Reece and Byron can at least half- hear what they're saying, and Byron makes them aware of this. Haz and Mackenzie start clumsily pretending to be doing laundry, before heading back outside 'to check on Trevor'.
REECE: Why do I make them so nervous?
BYRON: I guess they don't know you like I do. Hey, what are you thinking - you know, about telling everybody that you're staying long- term?
REECE: Can we just concentrate on finding Krista first?
BYRON: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
REECE: I don't want Paul to know, because I definitely don't want to give him another reason to be all up in my business.
A road somewhere
The motorbike begins to splutter, as it has run out of fuel. JJ gets off the bike, breathing heavily, and then yells in anguish. Removing his helmet and throwing it to the ground, he takes out his phone to see three missed calls from 'Mum'. He yells again, and drops to his knees with his head in his hands, almost gasping for air as if in a panic attack.
Ramsay Street
Cara returns in the ute, having failed to locate JJ. Remi reports that she's been calling him, but it just goes to voicemail. Dex is upset, saying it's his fault, but Cara assures him otherwise. Andrew then pulls up in his car, too. Wendy is talking to Sadie.
SADIE: Do you think they got the DNA results too?
WENDY: Well, they would've got the same email as us.
Andrew suggests to everyone that they report JJ's disappearance to the police - saying it would mean they'll find him faster, though there would be repercussions as he's driving unlicensed. Remi agrees and asks Andrew to call the station, but then Cara gets a message from JJ and tells the others that he's okay.
CARA: He's just texted me where he is.
REMI: Okay, I'm coming with you.
CARA: Uh, he just wants me.
REMI: I want to see my son.
CARA: Yeah, I know - and you will, when I bring him home. Let's just do this his way, before he disappears again.
Remi reluctantly agrees, and Cara starts up the ute again.
Lassiter's Complex
Reece and Byron arrive in the car park, in Krista's old car, just as Paul and Leo are coming out of the pub with coffees. Paul is moaning that he hasn't heard any results from Reece's market research project yet. Leo suggests she's probably still processing the data.
PAUL: Plus, I've been sending her updates about the hotel, and nothing. No response.
LEO: Well, isn't that a good thing? Don't you want to be left alone?
PAUL: Leo, the point is, Reece's behaviour is highly erratic.
In the car...
BYRON: Alright. Let's focus on finding who owned this before Krista.
REECE: I'll lean on some contacts, see what I can dig up on the registration.
In the courtyard...
LEO: You know what? I've been thinking. It's been a while since you've been on a date.
PAUL: What's that got to do with anything?!
LEO: This whole obsession with Reece. Maybe it's cos you're missing something from your own life.
PAUL: I am not obsessed.
But at that moment, Paul sees Reece and Byron getting out of the car.
PAUL: Why is she driving around in a scuzzy old car like that?
LEO: Obsessed.
Once Reece and Byron are out of sight, Paul immediately goes over to peer through the windows of the car, followed by Leo, who asks what he's looking for. Paul even tries forcing the door handle to see if he can get in!
LEO: Dad, are you serious? It's broad daylight!
PAUL: You know, I'm gonna go and get a coat hanger, see if I can lift that lock.
But Leo physically stops him.
LEO: Dad, get a grip! We are not breaking into a car.
Paul seems to accept this, but looks disappointed!
A road somewhere
JJ is sitting at the foot of a big tree near the motorbike. Presently, Cara pulls up in the ute, gets out and walks towards him.
JJ: I know what you're gonna say. I -
But Cara doesn't say anything - just envelops him in a big hug.
CARA (emotional): Do you have any idea how much I love you?
JJ (emotional): I'm sorry, Mum.
CARA: It's okay. It's gonna be okay. You're too much like me, you know that? ... It's not really enough, though, is it?
JJ shakes his head.
JJ: I wasn't honest when you asked me before. I do want to know more about my dad. And that's not gonna happen if it's some random guy from the US. If I could pick... I'd choose Andrew. I love you and Ma. You're my parents. But I want to know more about where I come from.
This is visibly hard for Cara to hear, but she reassures him.
CARA: That's okay. I get it. Ma will, too.
JJ: Dex thinks I'm being selfish.
CARA: Ah, he's just scared. Same as you. You know, this is new and strange and scary for all of us. But you don't have to do it on your own. Okay? You've just got to tell us what's going on in that brain of yours.
JJ: I don't want to upset anyone.
CARA: Well... just don't steal someone else's motorbike! The rest we can handle, okay?
He follows her back to the ute.
Ramsay Street
Cara and JJ arrive home in the ute, where Remi, Dex and the Rodwells are all waiting. Remi's desperately relieved to see JJ, and they share an emotional hug.
REMI: Please don't ever do that again.
JJ: I won't. I'm sorry.
ANDREW: We were worried about you, mate.
JJ: Yeah. I wasn't thinking. It just happened.
DEX: He does that a lot.
SADIE: Yeah, I'm guilty of that a few times, too.
CARA: JJ was just nervous about getting the DNA results, and needed a minute. I'll send you a pin for where the bike is - sorry.
ANDREW: No worries.
WENDY: Wait, so you don't know about the DNA results?
JJ: Have they come in?
DEX: Yeah. Ma got the email just after you left.
CARA: I wanted to bring you home first, so we could tell you as a family.
REMI: Maybe we should go inside.
JJ: No, no, just tell me now. Andrew, what did they say?
Andrew looks uncertain as to whether he should say, but Cara gives him a reluctant nod.
ANDREW: We're not a DNA match.
JJ doesn't say anything, but looks like he's struggling with the news...

On the couch, Mackenzie asks Haz if he thinks Byron's in 'lurve' with Reece.
HAZ: I'm pretty sure neither of them would pronounce it like that.
MACKENZIE: You know what I mean. I can see why they work. Reece has life experience, and Byron's an old soul.
HAZ: Even though they might be the same age on the inside, their bank balances are never gonna match up.
MACKENZIE: No, exactly. They went for it, even with all their differences. I think the hardest part of being with someone is taking that risk.
HAZ: ... Was it scary when you got together with Hendrix?
MACKENZIE: Yeah, I was petrified. And not just because I was trying to kill a spider when we got together... Being with him was the best leap I've ever taken.
Haz gets up and heads to the kitchen. Mackenzie follows.
HAZ: Not me. I am too indecisive for big leaps.
MACKENZIE: What about adopting Trevor?
HAZ: Oh, well, he's a dog, Mack. Even though I treat him like a human, I do know the difference.
They're suddenly standing rather close together.
MACKENZIE: Well, when you find the right person, you'll know, and then you'll go for it.
Holly walks in! She announces that they need to do something this afternoon, having earned some fun. Mack gives the excuse of having laundry to do.
HOLLY (to Haz): Well, just you and me, then. Pool comp at the Waterhole?
HAZ (to Mack): That washing isn't going anywhere. And how am I supposed to win if Erinsborough's worst player isn't competing?
MACKENZIE: ... You are going to eat those words for lunch. I'm in.
Holly smiles, disguising her disappointment at not getting alone- time with Haz...
Lassiter's Hotel
Reece is with Byron, scouring Krista's social media for clues as to her whereabouts, but she hasn't posted anything. There's a knock at the door - it's Paul, who has come to offer Reece the use of a Lassiter's company car. Reece replies that she doesn't want it.
PAUL: But I saw you drive in in that rusty old lawnmower. Not really a good luck for one of the hotel owners.
BYRON: Oh, that's my car (...) I'm on a budget. It's the best I could get.
PAUL (to Reece): So why were you driving it, then?
REECE: How is that any of your business?
PAUL: No, it's not, it's not. Just trying to help.
REECE: Well, thank you for caring about my image. But I don't need the company car.
Paul says the offer's always open, and reluctantly leaves them to it.

The Rodwells are mulling over the DNA results. Sadie reflects that it's 'just crazy' to think she 'nearly had a brother'. Andrew apologises to them both for putting them through it.
ANDREW: But now that everything's certain... we can put it behind us.
Neither of them really respond to this, but Sadie excuses herself to head to the pub with Mackenzie. Wendy then takes a seat at the table and opens a novel, ignoring Andrew.
ANDREW: We're gonna have to talk about this sometime... I'm trying here, love.
WENDY: ... I don't know how to talk to you about it. Just can't make sense of it all.
ANDREW: JJ isn't my biological son. That's it.
WENDY: Yeah, but I watched you give him the news. And you were disappointed. No, on some level, you were.
ANDREW: Was just worried about the kid.
WENDY: Why? You barely even know him. And even if that's all it was, compassion, none of it changes what you did.
ANDREW: ... What do you want from me?
WENDY: I honestly have no idea.

Cara tries to break the ice with Remi by persuading her to come and watch TV together, but Remi is unresponsive, preferring to concentrate on unpacking the boxes that have arrived from their previous place. In the sunroom, Dex is unpacking boxes, too, while JJ sits quietly nearby.
DEX: Sorry for pummelling you.
JJ: Yeah, you were actually pretty impressive. You mastered sum of Mum's self- defence moves.
DEX: Mum didn't teach me that, you did (...) Remember, you gave me some pointers after Robbie Dale stole my Gandalf figurine.
JJ: Oh, yeah. Yeah, that kid was a loser.
DEX: Most bullies are.
JJ: Mm. Hey, you were right about the whole dad search thing. I'm sorry I blew everything up to try to find him.
DEX: I blame Philippa.
JJ: Yeah, but I shouldn't have read her diary. Made no difference in the end. I'm still clueless about my dad.
DEX: So am I. And... knowing who the donors are, doesn't change who we are. You think now that Andrew's just a neighbour, things will go back to normal?
JJ: Yeah, course.
But JJ looks unconvinced.
The Waterhole
Holly continues to butter up Haz as a potential boyfriend during a pool game, while Mackenzie watches from behind a novel she's reading - but Haz seems to be fairly oblivious to Holly's efforts. While Haz is at the bar getting drinks, Holly comes over and asks Mackenzie why she's just sitting there, telling her she's supposed to be her 'wing woman'.
MACKENZIE: You are not on a date with Haz.
HOLLY: Well, not yet. Which is why I need your help.
MACKENZIE: ... Are you sure that he's the guy? I mean, he just broke up with Billie. And also, we're all friends, so what if it changes things?
HOLLY: With Billie, we had to hang out with her whether we liked her or not. With me, you already know I'm a legend. So I'm a way better option than some random.
Mackenzie can only nod and smile, but once Holly moves away to help Haz, she looks crestfallen. An almost- as- miserable- looking Sadie appears next to Mack, and immediately sees Holly fawning over Haz.
SADIE (sympathetically): Looks like your day has been just as fun as mine.
MACKENZIE: I'm so glad you're here.
Mackenzie puts her head on Sadie's shoulder.
Lassiter's Complex
Paul is staring towards the hotel entrance; he has his 'plotting' face on. Terese turns up and stands next to him.
TERESE: I can almost hear the cogs clicking and whirring.
PAUL: Guess it's that kind of day.
TERESE: Mm. You know, Leo thinks that you need a girlfriend. I think there's another woman on your mind.
PAUL (annoyed): Did he tell you that?
TERESE: Mm.
PAUL: Ah, it's just Reece, you know. She keeps secrets, she never gives me a straight answer to anything.
TERESE: Reminds me of someone I used to be married to.
PAUL: Oh, come on. All couples have secrets. You know that.
TERESE (teasing): Toadie and I don't. We talk about *everything*.
PAUL: Sounds painful.
TERESE: It's actually quite refreshing. Anyway, back to you and Reece...
PAUL: Ah, you know, I can handle a sparring partner, you know that. I just can't handle a loose cannon.
TERESE: What, are you suggesting she's unstable?
PAUL: She's certainly not consistent. And her father just had one of his bigwigs out here checking up on her. You know when the answer to something is right there in front of you but you just can't grasp it? (...) That's the way it is with Reece.
Terese heads off to her office, but not before telling Paul she thinks it's time he got a girlfriend too! Paul doesn't take it in the spirit it's intended, and looks utterly miserable as Terese walks away.
The Waterhole
While Holly and Haz continue to play pool, Sadie raises a toast to 'not having a new brother'. She tells Mack that Andrew's relieved, but seems to expect everything to just go back to normal; whereas Sadie fears Wendy isn't coping well. It's less complicated following the DNA results, Sadie says, but Wendy's struggling to forgive Andrew for lying in the first place.
SADIE: I'm worried about them.
MACKENZIE: They love each other.
SADIE: I'm so disappointed in Dad. I never thought I'd actually feel this way about him.
MACKENZIE: It took me a while to get to a good place with my dad, but... we got there.
SADIE: Any tips?
MACKENZIE: Just accept that they're human.
Meanwhile, Holly is still trying to get up close and personal with Haz, but he interprets it as her deliberately distracting him in order to beat him at pool - so bans her from coming near the table while he's taking shots! Holly looks annoyed, and Mackenzie remarks (rather cheerily) to Sadie that Holly isn't having the best day either.

Cara brings Remi a cuppa.
REMI: Thank you.
CARA: I'm not a stranger.
REMI: I'm just being polite.
CARA: Well, I'd prefer it if you yelled at me.
She sits down next to Remi.
REMI: It's not easy for me. You did what you did, and I just need some time.
CARA: Choosing to lie to you, 17 years ago... it's the biggest mistake of my life. There's no excuse for it, and... I'm really sorry.
REMI: ... You're right. There is no excuse. But you're also right about what a gift JJ is. I'd never regret him, no matter who is biological father is.
CARA: So how do we work through it?
REMI: Maybe just focus on the kids right now. Do you think JJ's okay with the DNA results?
CARA: He told me he was excited at the idea of Andrew being his biological dad.
REMI: So he is disappointed.
CARA: He's been on a massive journey, and... he's kept it to himself the whole time.
REMI: Maybe we should've seen it coming. Should've known he'd have questions, and made it easier for him to ask.
CARA: No, I don't think we could have. There's something missing for JJ, but... I don't even think he knows what it is.
Lassiter's Hotel
At reception, Paul is loitering around, looking smug. Katrina, who's behind the desk, asks if she can help him. Paul claims he's just 'taking a work break'. Leo turns up.
LEO: You don't take work breaks.
PAUL: Just stretching my legs. You know how fidgety I get when I sit for too long.
Leo suggests Paul get a massage to help with that. Paul pretends to be on board with this idea, and asks Katrina to track down Tina from the spa to organise it. As soon as both Katrina and Leo are out of sight, Paul heads to the office behind reception, and sets off the fire alarm!
AUTOMATED VOICE: Evacuate the building, using the nearest fire exit!
Staff and guests alike start rushing outside into the courtyard. Paul looks pleased with himself...
In Reece's room, Byron tells Reece that there's usually an announcement if a fire drill is about to happen, which suggests this is real. As Reece puts some papers away, Krista's affirmation card falls to the floor unnoticed. She and Byron then head out to evacuate via the stairs.
Lassiter's Complex
It seems it's not just the hotel, but the entire complex evacuating - as Mackenzie, Sadie, Haz and Holly all leave the pub. Haz goes to check the café to see that everyone's out, and of course Holly follows to 'help'! At the fire assembly point in the grassy area, Terese tells Mackenzie that the whole complex is connected to the hotel fire system, but hopefully it will just be a fault in the alarm board.
Leo comes out, and reassures Terese that Abigail is on a playdate and thus not in the building (or in the episode). Leo wonders why Paul hasn't emerged, given that he was at reception when the alarm went off, and heads back towards the main building to see if he can find him.
Meanwhile, we come to understand Paul's motivation, as he lets himself into Reece's room and begins opening drawers and cupboards in search of clues. He then finds the affirmation card lying on the floor, and sees the phone number for the addiction support service on the back. Paul smirks triumphantly.
