Lassiters hotel
Reece is standing staring at the front door of the hotel when Byron spots her and she puts the staring down to remembering stuff that she needs to do [for the hotel]. They make plans to meet up after his shift tomorrow since she missed his call about meeting up prior to his shift starting.
Reece then makes her way inside the hotel and gets one of the members of staff (Katrina) to help her with some market research on hotel guests from a [not so] random month to apparently help create real profiles on the guests.
Number 30
Remi is chuffed to hear from the hospital that she's got some shifts as she's taking over Karl's shifts...
Number 30/Beach
...However the happy mood dissipates after a call from Andrew to say JJ is missing. He explains that the lad disappeared while he was off getting some ice- creams. While they are still on the phone, JJ then walks through the front door and they let Andrew know the good news and a promise of calling him back once they've had a chance to chat with the lad.
Number 22
"Back to power dressing!" Terese declares after hearing that she's got permission to visit the school that evening with her architect (he's pulled in a favour to get that to happen). Toadie volunteers to be the one to show her round the school although he's more thinking of his love life than her business plan!
Number 30
Cara and Remi are tyring to get to the bottom of why JJ disappeared after his driving lesson with Andrew but the lad isn't talking. When they mention the Linwell brothers, he piggybacks onto that as to why he came home, just in case anyone dodgy rocked up.
DEX: What did you think you were going to do? Citizen's arrest?!
JJ: Anything would do more good than you Dex!
Remi is quick to get in that defending the home isn't their job, that's for the parents!
REMI: Mum and I are handling it. There's absolutely nothing for you to worry about.
Cara backs Remi up to reassure the lad adding that they'll soon enough be able to put it all behind them.
School
Despite it being the weekend, Jane is at work when Wendy drops by with some suggestions to help save the school. They may be on a losing battle already as Jane has hears the Principal of Anson's Corner is already trying to get EHS pupils to go to his school, starting with five of the seven involved with the bullying of Dex. Naturally, Jane isn't taking this lying down and plans to do the same back, with the aid of Wendy getting some phone numbers of the parents who frequent The Waterhole!
Number 30
In the privacy of the sunroom, Dex hears why JJ took off - the driving lesson was going really well, with Andrew praising the lad about his driving but it was the bit where Andrew talked about bonding with his own dad that got to JJ.
JJ: For a second, I thought maybe I could tell him about Phillipa's diary. Maybe... maybe he'd be happy to have me in his life.
DEX: Has something changed? Do you want him in your life?
JJ: I...
DEX: Because you said you wanted answers... that's it!
JJ replies that his promise "still stands," he won't say anything to Andrew..."not ever."
Lassiters hotel, Reece's room
Kirsten is quick off the mark and delivers the requested data to Reece.
The Waterhole
Andrew gets a text from Cara to explain JJ's disappearance - that the lad was worried about them. Wendy gets why the lad is having issues before going on to tell Andrew about the plan she's concocting with Jane to try and get students for EHS.
Harolds café
Reece now has a new challenge for Katrina - finding out what certain rooms ordered from room service!
She's going through what Katrina already came up with when Byron walks into the café. He assumes this is the stuff she's doing for her dad (yes) and she agrees that it is below her paygrade but will eventually put it out to a third party once she's finished with her initial findings.
When Reece leaves, Haz comes over to see how Byron is going with her but he's a bit down as Reece is too busy working than spending time with him.
School
Wendy arrives with some good news for Jane - she's tracked down the President of Anson's Corner P&F [Parents and Friends Association] and heard that their parents are very worried about the stability of the school and are holding a crisis meeting that night.
JANE: I would love to be a fly on the wall for that.
WENDY: Well start flapping your wings!
Turns out Wendy suggested that they hold their meeting at EHS, which Jane is utterly thrilled to hear as it means she can give them a pitch for EHS. Wendy does point out that its only "a few key parents" but if they can be swayed to move their kids to EHS, she thinks it might start a trickle- down effect.
Jane is a bit freaked about how little time she has to come up with the greatest presentation of her life, but Wendy reassures her that she knows "everything there is to know about this place" and all she needs to do is "let your passion shine through" along with brushing her hair!
Ramsay Street
Despite the rain, Terese is in her element as the trackies have been ditched and the power dress is back on! Even Toadie is out of his trackies too as they head to the car for meeting the architect at 5pm.
Andrew arrives back in the street and checks with Cara how JJ is. She apologies for Andrew getting mucked around and that it wasn't to do with him either. He gets that before the subject changes to the smashed window and no, nobody has been caught and they're still working through some possibilities.
Thinking back to his childhood, Andrew wonders if the boys aren't telling their mums everything and are instead bottling stuff up. "Are you saying we're not talking to our kids?" Cara asks and very quickly Andrew replies no! Cara appreciates the concern Andrew is showing but is quick to add in that they are handling things.
ANDREW: It's just an observation. Sometimes you think they're telling you everything and they're not.
CARA: I don't need your backseat parenting, okay!
School
Jane (with the odd add in from Wendy) begins her enticement speech to the Anson's Corner parents, dropping in the famous ex- pupils - popstar pupil Nina Tucker and renowned fashion designer Donna Freedman! Before they all head off on a tour of the school, Jane reassures concerned parents that EHS can cope with additional pupils.
Lassiters Complex
As they walk through the complex, Remi and Cara are coming at what Andrew said from two different angles and Cara admits she doesn't know who is worse - Andrew or Wendy! They stop beside where the outdoor fan is and Cara admits its still a mystery over how it fell down.
Reece is on a new mission now - CCTV footage after spotting a camera outside the door to The Waterhole but hears it only goes back 3 months. Cara thinks its to do with what happened with the fan, but Reece is quick to reassure her that she's doing a good job.
School
Toadie is having as much fun walking through the corridors with Terese (and the architect) reminiscing about his time as a pupil there.
Number 30
After a very mysterious phonecall, Cara pulls Remi out into the sunroom so she can explain the call while the boys finish setting the table for dinner.
Cara is forced to apologise to Remi after explaining about the mystery phonecall - the call was from WorkSafe and they want her to be the key witness and testify against the Linwell brothers over the dodgy practices at the stadium. Putting 2 and 2 together, they now think what has happened recently is intimidation from the brothers so Cara keeps her "mouth shut."
REMI: Well, we just need to find a way to stay safe.
CARA: We know how dangerous they can be.
Ramsay Street
And outside in the street a dark- windowed car sits opposite from the house.
Lassiters hotel, Reece's room
We hear that Katrina hasn't found the info Reece requested about room service orders as she is finishing on the day so has apparently told Reece to go to the kitchen herself to get the info! Just as she's finished with that, there's a knock at her door and Reece goes to see who it is. It is someone called Tess, a fellow American who from the greeting back, seems to know Reece.
School
Jane wraps up the impromptu night after a quiet word from Wendy explaining that the night has gone down very well - the parents there are that impressed with the school, they are going to pass on their recommendation to the rest of the P&F.
However just as Jane is getting to the end of her speech, she hears Toadie, Terese and their architect chatting in the corridor, so she quickly heads outside to see why they are trespassing in the school! Terese explains she was granted a site visit to assess if her plans match up with the footprint of the school.
JANE: Erinsborough High isn't even sold yet! Can you be any more mercenary?!
Terese is refusing to engage with her if Jane is going to sling the mud! However before Terese gets a step away, Jane questions if Terese being her friend was a lie. Toadie intervenes to suggest she takes a moment to calm down. "Oh I'll give you a moment!" she tells Toadie before turning her attention back to Terese.
JANE: Your very own stepdaughter goes here. Do you really care so little about this school?! It is one step away from being bulldozed! You are nothing but a money hungry bully and I absolutely hate you for this! I absolutely had you!!!
Jane then suddenly remembers who else is in the school and the Anson's Corner parents have had a prime time view of her rant and are not at all amused!
