Number 32
David comes totally clean with Aaron by admitting he and Freya lied to the police and everyone about not saving Gareth. Aaron points out that the report said Gareth's "injuries were too severe."
DAVID: I had the equipment. I could have done something, but... I chose not to.
As Aaron opens up the latest note to re-read it, David then goes onto say that someone has been "taunting" him by leaving notes on his desk and the OPA in his car. While Aaron now gets the strange conversations David has been having with Freya, as well as the nightmares and mood swings, he demands to know why David didn't say anything. David explains that it was because of his fragility post-accident and didn't want to add any more stress to him.
AARON: Well, I could have handled it.
DAVID: I thought you were going to die. I didn't know what else to do and then these letters started turning up.
Harold's café
"Welcome home," Ned greets Harlow with after spotting her on coming out of the kitchen with an order. She apologises for the radio silence and the rude text she sent, but their chat curtailed when Amy walks into the café and tries to engage Harlow in conversation about London. Harlow isn't in the mood to chat with her and can't get to the side quick enough to await her order.
"I see things haven't changed there," Amy comments out of Harlow's earshot and we hear why she's come calling - to invite Ned to the beach so she can get inspiration for her designs.
Number 32
Aaron is finding it hard to accept what has happened more because David doesn't have the answers to his questions - like does the blackmailer know where they live and what do they want? Aaron wants them to report what has happened to the police, but David is fearful they want the full story and what the consequences could then be.
DAVID: Best case scenario I lose my job... worst case I'm charged with manslaughter.
AARON: Well this just keeps getting better doesn't it?!
David tells him about how he and Freya are trying to figure things out themselves, including re-visiting the crash site and who they thought could be behind it - Emma (Gareth's girlfriend but she is interstate) or Dean. Aaron can't take any more and tells David "I need some space" before walking out of the house.
Number 30
Amy is somewhat distracted as she gets her stuff ready for the beach and Toadie thinks it's to do with Harlow coming home. She admits that post-London call, she thought Harlow would be "more okay" now she's back.
"I suppose knowing the cause of the tension doesn't cure it," he comments and has a suggestion for her - she gets on the front foot by showing Harlow that Ned and herself are a good match, to get her approval.
Ramsay Street
Amy puts Toadie's suggestion into action by going to chat with Harlow after spotting her exiting #22 (dropping off duty free for Terese). She thanks Harlow for the "honesty" call from London and wants to show her she's "all in" on Ned. To achieve that, she invites Harlow to the beach along with Ned and herself. Naturally Harlow isn't keen on going but ends up getting railroaded into going after Amy invites the passing Kiri along so that she isn't going to be 'the third wheel' at the beach with the happy couple.
Number 32
David enters the kitchen looking for Aaron but instead finds a scribbled note saying he's gone for a walk.
Number 24
Nervously Freya goes to answer the door and finds Aaron at the other side. He tells her about David's coming clean and now wants to hear her version.
Harold's café
Amy calls by to collect Ned for their trip to the beach. She mentions that is Harlow coming along too, so they can "mend fences." He isn't too keen for her to come along and doesn't seem too enthralled either on hearing Kiri is going along too! Someone else is though - Nicolette and she volunteers to accompany them to the beach.
"It is perfectly innocent," Nicolette says to her mum but the look on Jane's face suggests otherwise!
Beach
It's a gorgeous sunny day as Nicolette, Ned, Amy and Harlow make themselves comfy on the beach. While Nicolette lies in the sun, Ned listens in as Amy engages Harlow in conversation.
Nicolette suddenly gets all excited when she spots Kiri making her way towards them... then her face drops like a stone when she sees who is right behind - Chloe, whom Terese let her finish early and thought she'd join them at the beach.
Number 24
"We really thought it was over," Freya says to Aaron after the coroners report came out, but then the notes started arriving. She gets its hard for him to understand the decision they made "but if you were there" then he'd get why.
Aaron admits he does get their predicament and therefore isn't judging but what he is annoyed about, is being kept in the dark.
Beach
Amy doing her best to chat with Harlow, but it sounds really forced, so much so that Ned can't wait to join Chloe for a swim when she suggests it!
And talking of painful conversations, that also describes the one Nicolette is trying to have with Kiri! Kiri reassures Nicolette that things are okay between them (she knows the context over Nicolette running away thanks to Chloe) and wants them to be friends, especially given they are neighbours.
Number 32
Aaron is back and tells David about visiting Freya to get the story "from her point of view." Much to David's surprise, Aaron is giving him his full support and is sorry that he had to carry the load alone. He does though say that being kept in the dark is what's hurt most - bringing back the memories of Paul paying Nicolette off and David keeping quiet.
DAVID: I'm sorry, I just wanted to protect you.
AARON: I've got your back, we're going to get through this.
DAVID: Thank you. I promise I'll make this right somehow.
Beach
Nicolette thanks Chloe for telling Kiri the full version of what happened with Paul and Isla, but conversation stops as the pair both spot Kiri exiting the water, and neither can take their eyes off her! When Kiri joins them, the pair quickly hide the fact they were ogling her as she's more distracted about a text from Bobby looking for work.
Meanwhile, Ned tries to get a quiet word with Harlow away from Amy but its suddenly curtailed as in the background, Amy has a hissy fit after a seagull poos on her sketch. "My creative zen is ruined," she whines!
Number 32
The atmosphere is much better now as the duo sit on the floor playing with Isla... well that is until David opens his mail and discovers another note!
Number 30
Amy and Ned are back from the beach, and she is in a much better mood compared to before the trip because things are okay with Harlow. Given Ned's barely had a chance to talk to Harlow, Amy orders him to the penthouse to go talk to her. He isn't exactly rushing to do that, instead volunteering to go visit Chloe and swap sunglasses over (Amy picked up Chloe's by mistake).
Number 32
We now see what the letter said - '$50k in 7 days or your secret is revealed. Expect payment details soon.'
Freya looks relieved almost that they know what the blackmailer is after whereas Aaron is more concerned that the person knows where they live. David doesn't know where they can get the money from, even with Freya's offer of contributing as much as she can. Aaron though feels they've no option but to pay because "who knows what will happen if we don't."
Number 24
Ned calls round to swap shades with Chloe, but it also gives him a chance to talk relationships. He spotted Chloe ogling Kiri and wants details... more so it deflects from him having to talk to her about Harlow!
Vineyard
Kiri is in a quandary about Chloe too as she works with Glen setting up for service - she admits to feeling attracted to her (pros) but the fact they live together is a definite con.
Number 24
And back at #24, Chloe is thinking along similar lines - the fact Kiri is a housemate means she feels she "can't go there" despite their chemistry. "Wise, given your track record," Ned comments, which Chloe vehemently disputes!
NED: Ah Nicolette, train wreck. Working with Leo came back to bite you and I distinctly remember something about Kyle and his toolbelt!
CHLOE: Alright, point made!
Vineyard
Even though Kiri thinks Chloe is "really hot," she isn't sure if she'd go for it given that she is "sensible." Glen is very reluctant to give her any advice after what happened the last time and instead asks how things are with Nicolette?
Harold's café
Nicolette is telling her mum how things were at the beach but is looking forward to getting to know Kiri.
Vineyard
Unfortunately for Nicolette, Kiri seems them as being friends only more so because she's got her sights sent on Chloe! Glen thinks the fact they are living together means she should put romance firmly on the "back burner" in case things get messy. Somewhat reluctantly, Kiri agrees with him.
Number 24
And it would appear that Chloe is now thinking along the same lines too with her "look don't touch," mantra. "It's for the best," Ned says to her as "friendship can be just as important as romance." Chloe does agree with him, it just needs to sink into her brain!
Number 32
Aaron gets Isla off to sleep as David enters the bedroom. "Are you okay?" Aaron asks and David replies "yes" before thanking Aaron. "Of course," Aaron acknowledges before pulling David in for a hug.
DAVID: I'm sorry I got us into this mess
AARON: It's okay, we're going to get through this.
Harold's café (next day)
Harlow and Ned finally get a chance to catch up without Amy being around. They are just starting to freely talk about how much they've missed each other and how they are going to fix things when their conversation is interrupted when Corey walks into the café!
COREY: Harlow!
HARLOW: Corey?!
