Crash site
Sheila is unharmed and rushes towards Levi and Yashvi's overturned car. Both of them are alive, but it's not clear how badly they're injured. Mitch and Nelson get out of their van. A police helicopter is overhead, and there are sirens in the distance.
NELSON: We can't outrun the chopper.
MITCH: We'll lose it in the trees. Let's go!
The crooks flee.
YASHVI (upside down): Where's Mitch and Nelson?
LEVI: They bolted.
YASHVI: So, why are you here?
Levi wants to look after Yashvi, but she says Sheila's here, and encourages Levi to chase the crooks. Levi manages to struggle out of the wreckage, and dashes towards the wooded area that Mitch and Nelson headed for. Yashvi puts in an urgent request for a 'Code 13' (an ambulance, for her) on the police radio, and also requests backup for Levi as he pursues the crims.
The bush
Levi chases Mitch and Nelson through the trees, while the helicopter continues to hover overhead; the crooks try to keep low in the foliage to avoid being sighted. Nelson is trailing behind Mitch, who goes on ahead. As Levi runs up an incline, Nelson appears and runs into him. Levi tackles him to the floor and restrains him. He binds his wrists, then heads on to look for Mitch.
The Waterhole
Kyle and Toadie are having a beer. Kyle is relieved that it was just the pigeons that triggered their motion sensors, and not Mitch and Nelson.
TOADIE: But, you know, if anyone asks, we definitely could've taken them.
KYLE: Dude, course, they're just pigeons.
TOADIE: No, I meant if they were actually -
KYLE: Hey, what do you reckon's going on over there?
Kyle is looking over towards another table, where Amy and Ned are having a drink, but not saying much. Toadie notes that Amy looks glum, and suggests she's upset about losing the film festival.
KYLE: Or they've probably just run out of things to say after working together all day.
Toadie and Kyle decide to go over to rescue them! Toadie tells Amy that Kyle is too chicken to play him at pool, so asks if she'll play instead. Amy leaps at the chance to escape the silence with Ned! While Toadie and Amy play, Kyle asks Ned how his blind date went. Ned explains it was going really well, but how Fifi then made an abrupt exit.
NED: I texted her to ask if she wanted a second date. She said she's open-minded, but not quite as experimental as me.
KYLE: Well, what does that mean?
NED: I asked her that. She said I should talk to Amy.
Meanwhile at the pool table, Toadie's trying to get Amy to divulge what's up with her, but she's behaving very strangely and seems very keen to deny there's a problem.
TOADIE: Does Ned know? Maybe I should go and ask him.
AMY: Don't you *dare*. It is Ned. Ned's what's up. Ned's what's weird. I have a crush on him! Are you happy now?
The bush
Mitch is still scrambling through the undergrowth, but Levi is hot on his heels. Mitch hides among some trees, causing Levi to briefly lose sight of him - but then he spots him, and gives chase again. Finally catching up, Levi tackles Mitch to the ground, and binds his wrists.
LEVI: You are under arrest.
MITCH (shrieking): Yeah, good on ya, boy scout!
LEVI: Get up. Get up!
He pulls Mitch to his feet.
MITCH: We both heard those ambos. Your friend was pretty banged up, and you didn't even stay to say goodbye.
Levi shoves Mitch up against a tree.
LEVI: You shut your mouth.
MITCH: Or what? What, are you gonna shut it for me?! You didn't talk this tough last time we did this dance. You curled up and cried like a little baby. You remember, don't you? Oh, you don't! That's a shame, cos I do. And I've got no regrets. I'm happy to give you a chance to redeem yourself, mm? Untie me - you can have your best shot. Come on. I know you want to, little Levi.
Levi grabs Mitch by his shirt collar, and pushes him down to the ground.
LEVI: I'm not so little now, am I?
Mitch looks scared.
Crash site
Yashvi is now out of the wreckage, and lying on the ground, leaning on Sheila, waiting for the ambulance to arrive. We can hear sirens approaching, but Yashvi's not in a good way.
SHEILA: Help's on its way, love. Is it just your head, or are you hurting somewhere else?
YASHVI (weakly): It's my whole left side.
SHEILA (emotional): You're gonna be fine, Yashvi, I just know it.
YASHVI: Just make sure you tell them which way Levi went, okay?
SHEILA (tearful): Yeah. I will.
Yashvi starts to slip out of consciousness.
SHEILA: Yashvi, come on, please. Yashvi, please - hang on, love!
The Waterhole
Amy suggests to Toadie that she should 'just go for it' with Ned, remarking that he's 'delicious'.
AMY: And it's not like I want anything serious, so what's the harm, right?
TOADIE: Well, there is Yashvi.
AMY: Yeah, but they're over. And her and I are good. And surely she understands a girl has needs, you know?
TOADIE: What's Ned's take on this?
AMY: He's so flirty. But I can't tell whether he's actually interested or not.
TOADIE: Well, maybe that's another reason why you should not go there.
AMY: Or I should just give in, and give it a go.
Meanwhile, Kyle and Ned are still talking about Fifi's abrupt exit from the blind date.
NED: It has to have been Amy. She torpedoed that date somehow.
KYLE: Well, mate, I told you why rebounding into your boss wasn't a good idea.
NED: Yeah, but why would she do that? Why set up a date, and then ruin it?
KYLE: Well, she's the only one that can answer that.
Amy walks over, so Ned asks if they can talk. They head outside.
TOADIE: That should be an interesting chat.
KYLE: Yeah, or a really, really quick one.
Toadie gets a phone call from Sheila, from the hospital.
TOADIE: I'm with Kyle now. We'll come straight there.
Erinsborough Hospital
A semi-conscious Yashvi is being rushed in for treatment by paramedic Travis Kellog. He tells David that she has a superficial head wound, but signs of internal bleeding. Her blood pressure's dropping, so David instructs Travis to wheel her straight into theatre to 'do a quick scan and open her up'.
Sheila appears, and David wants to know if she's been checked out for her heart. She confirms she has, but is more worried about Yashvi, and says David needs to be with her. David says she's in great hands with the duty surgeon; they don't know the extent of her injuries yet but will do all they can. Sheila bursts into tears.
Lassiter's Complex
Amy and Ned are sitting outside the pub. Amy admits that Fifi wasn't her friend after all - just 'some rando'.
AMY: I wanted to make you off-limits - because, you know, as your boss, it's just super inappropriate that I want to... jump your bones all the time.
NED: Okay...!
AMY: And when I saw that you hit it off with Fifi, I kind of got a bit... jealous. Which is kind of weird for me, actually. Anyway, the point is that... I'm kind of into you, you know? For the sole purpose of having a really good time.
NED: ...
AMY: Thoughts? Feelings? Anything - you have the floor.
Ned responds by leaning in for a kiss. But it's pre-empted by a text from Kyle.
NED: Yashvi's been in an accident, and she's going into surgery.
Ned says he's going to the hospital, to make sure she's okay. Amy asks if he wants her to come.
NED: Probably best if it's just family, you know? We'll talk soon.
Amy looks worried as Ned leaves.
Erinsborough Hospital
Sheila, Kyle and Toadie are in the waiting area. Sheila says the police want her to give a witness statement. Kyle asks what she was doing at the scene of the crash.
SHEILA: I was there because I wanted to shake some sense into your stupid cousin. I told him to leave the other police to it, but when I got home, I just knew he wouldn't.
So she followed the tracking app they'd installed to Hastings. Kyle says Sheila should have called him.
SHEILA (upset): I know! But I wasn't thinking, I was beside myself. And then I thought I was really close to him, and I wasn't watching the road, and...
KYLE: Hey, it was an accident.
SHEILA: But it wouldn't have happened if I wasn't there!
She's now worried about Levi out following Mitch and Nelson, and says he isn't answering his phone. Toadie reports he's heard from Dipi; she's on the next flight down, but there was only one seat, so Shane will follow later.
David emerges, and reports that the surgery is complete. The scan found damage to Yashvi's spleen, he explains, but the surgeon conducted a laparotomy and managed to repair the tear, saving the organ. She should make a full recovery, all being well. Everyone is relieved, and Toadie texts Dipi and Shane.
Presently, Yashvi wakes up in a hospital bed, to see Dipi watching over her.
DIPI (emotional): There's my girl! You had us all so worried.
Toadie comes in to join them. Yashvi wants to know if Mitch and Nelson have been caught, but Toadie's had no news. Yashvi seems to want to get up, but Dipi tells her to rest, explaining they had to operate on her spleen, but that she's fine now.
Ned arrives, and is very relieved to see Yashvi's okay. Yashvi doesn't know what to say, and Ned realises it was perhaps presumptuous to come in - but she stops him from leaving again.
YASHVI: I'm glad you're here.
Ned sits down next to her on the bed.
Later that evening, Sheila and Kyle are outside the hospital, when Levi turns up. He's keen to go and see Yashvi. Sheila apologises for her role in the accident, and notes that his hands are injured.
KYLE: Is that from the accident?
LEVI: Yeah, mostly.
KYLE: ... What happened with Mitch and Nelson?
LEVI: Those scumbags will never be a problem for this family again.
He heads into the building. Sheila and Kyle look concerned.
In Yashvi's room, Ned is still there and chatting to her.
NED: Is it weird that I'm here?
YASHVI: No, it's kind of reassuring, actually.
Ned admits he rushed over here without even thinking.
YASHVI: That's kind of sweet. Sweet in a friendship way, obviously.
NED: That's what friends are for. Actually, I'm surprised your mum was cool with me just barging in.
YASHVI: Yeah. She is here, right? I know I'm on a lot of painkillers, but that wasn't a hallucination?
NED: She's here. Although maybe I'm a hallucination.
He does a spooky hand gesture, which makes Yashvi laugh. Toadie and Dipi are watching from outside, and Dipi says it's nice to see them talking; they seem to be getting on well. Toadie says Yashvi had previously been dodging Ned's attempts to catch up.
DIPI: Sometimes a scare can make you see things more clearly. I mean, look at what the gas leak did for me and Shane.
TOADIE: You think this is gonna get them back together?
DIPI: Could be a silver lining.
Toadie gets a text, and looks awkward - Dipi asks what it is, but he says it's nothing for her to worry about. He goes off to make a phone call.
Outside the hospital, Toadie is just about to call Amy when she turns up in the flesh. She's brought some flowers for Yashvi, but Toadie is keen to give them to Yashvi on her behalf.
AMY: And take all the glory? I don't think so.
TOADIE: Dipi's here.
Amy groans, and hands the flowers to Toadie! But she says it's good Yashvi has her mum for support.
AMY: Is Shane here?
Toadie shakes his head.
AMY: You know, I was with Ned when he found out, and it kind of seemed like he was slipping back into boyfriend mode.
TOADIE: It seemed a bit that way in there, too.
AMY: So what I told you about - you know, before all this happened - it's probably a little optimistic, right?
TOADIE: If you're after uncomplicated fun, I don't think Ned is your man.
AMY (sadly): Message received. Tell Yashvi I'm thinking of her, okay?
TOADIE: Mm-hm. Love ya, Ames.
Amy walks off despondently.
Levi, Sheila and Kyle are now visiting Yashvi, who wants more details of what happened with Mitch and Nelson.
YASHVI: Surely they put up a fight?
Levi is looking a little spooked, and Kyle glances down at his injured hands.
LEVI: I wanted to hit him. I mean, I wanted to hurt Mitch, you know? It would've been so easy to just step over the line. But I didn't. I should have, but I didn't. I called it in. Felt like the right thing to do.
KYLE: So it was just the accident that did that to your hands?
LEVI: Dude, it was a pretty serious accident.
SHEILA: Yes, but that accident was really my fault. Yashvi, please forgive me.
Levi says he caused all this by going after Mitch and Nelson so hard, but...
YASHVI: They got what was coming to them for decades. That's the only thing you caused.
LEVI: It landed you in hospital.
YASHVI: Yeah. Totally worth it. Spleen of steel, baby!
Levi says they should all let Yashvi get some rest and go home.
Later on, Dipi and Toadie are back in Yashvi's room. Dipi suggests Yashvi come to Sydney to stay with the family while she recovers. Yashvi admits she's been missing them.
DIPI: We've been missing you, too. You could even extend your stay. Unless there's something or someone keeping you here?
YASHVI: I could think of a few things.
Dipi remarks on how nice the flowers are, and asks who they're from.
TOADIE: Amy, actually.
DIPI (forced): Oh, how thoughtful.
YASHVI (amused): You still think they're nice?
DIPI: Yeah, absolutely. But it's probably best she didn't deliver them herself.
Toadie and Dipi prepare to head home. Toadie says it's fine for Dipi to stay in Yashvi's room when asked, though adds that it might be hard for her to keep her distance from Amy.
DIPI: Why?
TOADIE: ...
YASHVI: Umm... well, firstly, I just want to say, before you react to what I'm about to tell you, just remember that I'm very fragile.
DIPI: Okay. What are you about to tell me?
YASHVI: And secondly, I want to have it noted that I thought I had a lot more time to tell you what you're about to learn.
DIPI: Okay, just tell me!
YASHVI: Toadie?
TOADIE: ... Amy is living with us now.
Yashvi looks sheepish as Dipi processes this bombshell!
The Waterhole
Levi, Sheila, Kyle and David are having a drink after a hard day. Sheila says that Mitch and Nelson are 'finally going to jail', and says she thought Levi would be over the moon - this is justice for him. Levi's a little spaced out, and says it's still sinking in. David and Levi head to the bar to get more drinks.
DAVID: You can't blame them for wanting to close the book on all this. But obviously it's not as simple for you.
LEVI: It should be. I mean, Mitch and Nelson are facing jail time. I should be just as relieved as they are.
DAVID: But you're not.
LEVI: ... Sometimes I hear a certain sound, you know, and it just puts me right back there. And I get this feeling of uncontrollable fear that goes through all my body, and I can't stop it.
DAVID: That's how long-term PTSD can work.
LEVI: Honestly, I don't think I'll be able to get them out of my head.
DAVID: It's gonna take time, and effort.
LEVI: I think it'll be easier if I just accept that no matter what I do, it'll never be over.
No 30
Amy and Ned come into the sun room, Amy having just put Toadie's kids to bed. Ned apologises for dropping round so late, but says he felt bad about bailing on her earlier.
NED: I've been thinking about what you said.
AMY: Oh, we can forget about all that. You know, don't worry, I'm not gonna make a scene and make it awkward at work or anything.
NED: Oh, no, I...
AMY: Because if, you know, seeing your ex makes your heart go all a flutter, then you should totally pay attention to that. You know, I'm cool, we're cool, it's all cool.
Meanwhile, Dipi and Toadie are coming through the front door of the house, discussing Amy.
DIPI: It's your house, and she's your mate. I'll probably be so focused on Yashvi, I won't even see Amy.
TOADIE: Well, having you around will help Vee enormously.
DIPI: Yeah, and Ned might prove a big help, too.
Back in the sun room, Amy is rambling on and Ned can't get a word in.
AMY: And that's why I think, you know, we should both agree that shirts should be compulsory at work (...) In a week, I am gonna find someone equally inappropriate to flirt with.
NED: Amy!
She finally falls quiet, and Ned kisses her. There's a brief electric pause, before a full-on pash ensues. At which point, Toadie and Dipi walk in on them! Everyone looks shocked.
