Previously
- Levi having an accident.
- Sheila trying to warn Levi about overdoing things.
- Levi agreeing to behave but it might take a while.
- Amy annoyed at Roxy teaching Ned to free pour spirits and warning her to do better!
- Roxy seeing that Amy is talking to someone from HR, fearful she is going to be fired.
- Terese reassuring Roxy that Amy has no grounds to fire her.
- Amy accusing Roxy of stealing money from the till and she is going to be fired!
The Flamingo Bar
Roxy is vehemently protesting her innocence but Amy is standing firm that she stole the money and is therefore going to be fire. The ensuing argument digresses into Amy getting the mangers position and her competence to do the job.
AMY: You will never make it Roxy, never!
And all that does is set the pair off arguing again until eventually Terese yells at them to stop!
Number 26 (garden)
Sheila isn't too amused at Levi 'lounging' in the garden rather than answering the door to the postie! However, when she notices who the parcel is from, she might have wished to not mentioned anything, as the package is from Sheila 2! Levi asks where the package was posted from (Port Lincoln) which then sets him off on another downward spiral as it was a place he was looking forward to seeing with Bea.
LEVI: Who needs a road trip with the woman of your dreams when you can lounge by yourself in your Gran's backyard...Perfect!
The Flamingo Bar
Despite her protestations of innocence, Terese explains to Roxy that she plans on checking the CCTV to see if it shows the culprit, rather than to make any assumptions.
Ned, who has been listening in the background, pipes up to say he banked $300 on the way home the day before. "Didn't you check with the bank?!" and angry Terese asks and Amy's reply is "why would I," because they do the banking at the end of the week!
NED: I thought I was being helpful.
Roxy now wants to get onto HR herself for what Amy was about to do with her. Terese asks her to "leave it" as there was "clearly a mis-understanding" with things said "on both sides" and wants the pair to "move on." Roxy demands an apology from Amy but given it was a 'misunderstanding' she doesn't think one is required and orders Roxy back to work!
Number 22
Roxy is still annoyed at not being given an apology from Amy when she gets home from work and unloads her woes to Harlow. Having lost the Back Lane Bar because of Vance's cousin stealing from them, it something she wouldn't do to others, especially a family member.
HARLOW: Money no, Grandad's liquor cabinet...
ROXY: That doesn't count, that's compensation for having to deal with him!
Being serious, Roxy asks Harlow if people will see her as a thief, given Amy was so quick to think she was? "Absolutely not," Harlow replies and is sure that Amy doesn't think she is one either.
Paul isn't too impressed to see Roxy home though, even when the pair try to explain why, and orders her back to work.
PAUL: The Flamingo Bar is not a schoolyard it is a workplace. Now, if you've got a problem with Amy, you go sort it out!
Number 26
"Maybe Gran's having a laugh," is how Kyle describes Levi following Sheila's instructions and splitting the birdseed for Gary the pigeon into its different components! Levi is happy to carry on though as he has nothing else to do.
The Flamingo Bar (exterior)
As they set up the giant chess set together, Ned tries to have a subtle chat with Amy about Roxy. She confirms that she did got to HR for advice on how to sack Roxy.
AMY: Your cousin's attitude sucks and her work is sub-par and it reflects badly on me!
While accepting Roxy hasn't made Amy's life easy, he thinks it was "pretty full on" accusing Roxy of stealing.
AMY: Fine, I will apologise!
NED: She'll appreciate it.
AMY: She will gloat!
NED: No she won't... she might but then she'll feel a whole lot better. So will you.
Number 26
Kyle and Sheila are at different ends of the spectrum over how to deal with Levi - he wants her to stop treating Levi like a little kid by giving him pointless jobs whereas she thinks Levi needs to be kept busy, to keep his mind off being dumped by Bea, until he goes back to work. Sheila also rules out Kyle's suggestion of Levi going to Frankston for a bit too.
SHEILA: I know what's best for my grandsons. Trust me!
With Kyle now round to her way of thinking, the pair work together to line up some more pointless jobs for Levi!
The Flamingo Bar
"Well, here goes nothing," Amy says to Ned after she spots Roxy coming out from the bar and goes to head over to talk to her.
AMY: Look, it was presumptuous of me to accuse you of stealing the money. I was out of line. I'm sorry.
ROXY: That's good to know. I don't accept the apology though.
That last bit stuns Amy especially given it was "a perfectly good apology!"
When the pair head into the bar, Roxy gives explains why - the accusations made Terese doubt her. "Do you have any idea how that made me feel?" Roxy asks but as far as Amy is concerned, the truth is now known, so its water under the bridge.
Roxy isn't amused and Amy is bitterly regretting giving the apology, and as they head back outside, wants to retract the apology! "You can't," Roxy replies but Amy thinks she can, because Roxy didn't accept it in the first place!
ROXY: Look, we're not going to get on anyway, after you slagged me off to HR!
Roxy admits she has made "a few mistakes" but has "never made a mistake" like Amy has by "burning down a hotel!" That last part stops Amy dead and she isn't amused Roxy knows something told to Paul and Terese "in confidence." Roxy confirms they didn't share it with her and admits she was the one that went through her laptop.
AMY: So you've been undermining me deliberately?! The laziness, incompetence... its all just an act so that you can make me look bad?!
ROXY: What do you expect Amy? You stole my ideas, you took credit for them, you said you were going to be my mentor but you just exploited me. You are the worst manager I have ever had.
Ned can sense that tensions between the two are running high and tries to intervene by saying he needs Amy's assistance, but Roxy hasn't finished!
ROXY: And you don't deserve to be manger, I do, because I care and soon enough everyone's going to see that!
Lassiters hotel foyer
Paul and Terese are debating whether to go outside and play a game of chess or not since it's been set up when Ned arrives needing their assistance!
The Flamingo Bar (exterior)
Paul, Terese and Ned hurry towards the bar as the insults are reaching fever pitch between the ladies! Roxy picks up one of the chess pieces (a pawn) and Amy quickly takes a step backwards, fearful that she's going to be hit by the pawn, but instead Roxy chucks it into the lake!
It's a very angry Paul who steps in to stop them arguing and accuses them of being "feral teenagers" rather than "grown women!" Terese adds in too that the situation between them "has become untenable" and "clearly not working."
Number 26 (garden)
As he heads out into the garden, Levi almost catches Sheila and Kyle out as they busily doctor the shed to make it look like a possum been in it. Thankfully for them it looks like he didn't actually hear their chat, so Sheila ropes him into clearing the spa free of leaves before tackling the shed.
Even though Levi is very suspicious over how the leaves suddenly got into the spa, he goes to start the task. However, when he passes the wheelie bin, Levi spots the individual bags for the seeds he spent ages separating because apparently they couldn't be purchased separately! Thinking quickly, Sheila says these bags of seeds are for her... to exfoliate with!
Eventually its Kyle who decides to stop the charade and come clean with Levi and the lad isn't amused!
LEVI: I've just been dumped, I can't go to work, I can't go for a run, my ex is in a car that I bought her with another Sheila on a road trip and now my family's treating me like a loser!
"We're just trying to help love," Sheila yells after the departing Levi but he isn't stopping to listen.
The Waterhole
Terese is trying to make Roxy at least "show some remorse" as she (and Harlow) chat to her. Roxy claims that Amy "is bigger than me" and thus was simply "defending myself." "Roxy, everyone is bigger than you!" Terese points out and even Harlow chips in to say, "resorting to violence is poor form." Terese has had enough of the games and thinks that someone has to "move on."
The Flamingo Bar
"You're the one that can't control your staff," Paul points out to Amy when she thinks it is Roxy that should go... "and you don't exactly have a spotless employment record either" Paul reminds her with too. Amy acknowledges she should have been "upfront about the fire" but equally Paul should have been honest over how he heard about it. She admits the argument "was a debacle" but firmly blames Roxy, the "loose cannon," "manipulative," and "immature" one!
The Waterhole
"I'm not a liar or a thief," Roxy says as part of her defence and indeed calls herself "a victim." Terese thinks it might be best if Roxy moves back to The Waterhole, which causes her to whine 'why me' especially given she started at the bar before Amy did. "That's not a factor here," Terese explains, she has made her decision on the events that led up to "the ridiculous display that you put on."
The Flamingo Bar
Paul continues making his displeasure at "the Lassiters brand being tarnished" due to "public displays of idiocy" known to Amy. He suggest that Roxy's contract could be terminated and before Amy gets carried away with the news, adds that her contract can be terminated too!
PAUL: Terese and I will let you know our decision.
Number 26 (garden)
Levi tries to ignore his Gran as he passes her, but she calls out to explain she "didn't mean to make you feel like a loser" and hopes that he "doesn't hate" her. "I don't hate you Gran," he just wishes she hadn't done "what you did" as it was bad enough Bea keeping things from him and doesn't want his family "doing the same thing."
Sheila apologies and after he sits beside her, she shows him her box of memories that she has to show "how far I've come" and tells him the story about her old school friend Joanne Schwartz.
Levi spots a newspaper cutting about him being bashed up that he's never seen before and Sheila suggests he keeps it and brings it out "whenever you need to remind yourself how strong you are." We then hear Levi read what is written in the article: "Sheila Canning believes her grandson was protecting their house from being broken into."
SHEILA: See, my little hero. Nine years old and your whole life was turned upside down and look at you now! You are a caring, fantastic young man who puts his life on the line every day to protect the community. You could never be a loser Levi, never!
"Thanks Gran," Levi says after hearing her words and she promises to "not go behind his back again," especially as they weren't good at doing it too!
SHEILA: You're going to be alright love.
The Flamingo Bar (exterior)
Ned joins Roxy outside and reports that Amy was "cut up" after her chat with Paul. He also adds that their rivalry is "getting pretty boring" and it isn't benefiting her either.
NED: It's not too late to fix things if you want to.
ROXY: It's a bit hard when we hate each other.
NED: It's a stupid job.
ROXY: I know.
He suggests that she gives Amy a chance, and just like that Amy appears outside!
AMY: So, Paul is prepared to fire the both of us. Terese?
ROXY: She's playing hardball too.
AMY: So you know what we have to do?
ROXY: Update our CVs?
"Play harder," is Amy's idea by proving that they can work together without fighting and thus prove the bosses wrong. Roxy isn't sure them "working together without getting stabby," is going to be enough.
AMY: Then we do more! We need to make them believe that we are a stellar team and that we've totally turned the corner.
Roxy isn't sure the bosses will buy it, if they can fake it! "There's only one way to find out!" Amy replies.
The Waterhole
Amy and Roxy put on a united front to convince Paul and Terese not to fire (or relocate) one of them. "We promise to never fight again, now we're basically besties," Roxy says to the bosses as part of the ploy!
PAUL: I've had enough of this pantomime!
Realising that they may have gone totally overboard, Amy turns to something she know will convince the bosses - that since they started working together, they've "raked in cash." She also reckons that if they can work better together, they can "out profit The Waterhole." That has the bosses listening!
PAUL: Fine! But this is your last chance... understand! And I will be watching the figures.
Their first job of working collaboratively is to fetch the pawn out of the lake. However, once the bosses leave, all attempts at working collaboratively are out the window and its down the old fashioned 'rock, paper, scissors' game to decide who is getting their feet wet!
