Roxy is too busy observing Amy and Terese from a distance.
No.30
Toadie tells both women off and Angela promises she'll drop the legal action.
When she's gone, Toadie rants at Melanie for not watching the kids properly.
MELANIE: I messed up. I'm so, so sorry.
TOADIE: I think you should go.
She does.
No.24
David arrives to find that Clive has taken over No.24 with music and his plant. Chloe and Nicolette are lurking on the sofa, seething.
Clive explains that plants like music.
JANE: And with classical music, they flourish.
CLIVE: Obviously.
JANE: Death metal, they wither...
CLIVE: I think it's the name.
JANE: And with Country and Western...
CLIVE: They stay exactly the same!
David looks bemused. Jane suggests to Clive that they go out the back and check on her fushcias. Clive says he'll try opera!
When they've gone, Nicolette rants that Clive has been blasting Mozart since 7am, walking in on her in the toilet and generally making a nuisance of himself. Chloe ageres that Clive has to go but doesn't want to tell Jane. But when she hears the opera blasting from the garden, she agrees!
Flamingo Bar
Amy tells Roxy that she has to reduce staff hours for the winter. Roxy's hours are safe, but she'll have to do more duties each day. Roxy reads the list and says her workload has more than doubled. Amy insists it will be fine! Roxy just looks at the list in despair.
No.30
Toadie is telling Susan that he's way more angry at Melanie than he is Angela. He moans that it's not appropriate for a woman in her fifties to deliver poo to a doorstep. Also, Melanie is "away with the fairies". Susan thinks Toadie might be being a bit hard on Melanie, but he can't cope with the cycle of irresponsibility followed by apology.
TOADIE: I'm more angry at myself. For letting this whole situation get this far and then thinking that we could actually work out.
No.24
Clive is fussing over his plant and telling them about Japanese bathroom architecture. He then tells David quietly that the builder has over-run and he may need to stay on in No.24 for a couple of weeks. David chuckles quietly to himself at this(!)
CLIVE: Actually, I don't mind, I'm enjoying myself. It's like I'm back at Uni in a share house!
He takes David out to his car to show him some bathroom tile samples(!)
When they've gone, Jane tells Nicolette to stop being so rude to Clive.
NICOLETTE: Chloe wants him gone and she wants you to tell him!
Chloe starts at this. Jane is surprised.
JANE: I'm sorry, Chloe, but you both made a commitment to Clive that he could stay until his renovations were finished. You can't go back on that now.
NICOLETTE: Mum!
JANE: No, no. I said no, Nicolette. It is two more days. You'll both just have to...well, suck it up!
Flamingo Bar
Terese comes in and tells Amy that she and Paul are impressed with her winter cost cutting plans. Amy tells her she's organised a photo shoot for tomorrow for the Longest Workout, which is all in hand. Roxy rolls her eyes.
The Sonya Wall
Jane and Clive come across Melanie crying over nearly killing Hugo. Jane thinks she's being too hard on herself, but Melanie doesn't agree and thinks Toadie will forgive her.
MELANIE: I'm the most hopeless mother figure! And I should never be trusted with anything again!
Jane reminds her that she was wonderful with Sky and Toby back in the day, and Clive comments that Joe could never have raised them without her help. Melanie says maybe she's too old now, but they encourage her to try again.
MELANIE: What if I've been on the wrong track all along? What if Toadie deserves someone better?
She looks up at the Sonya mural, towering over them.
No.24
NICOLETTE: Two weeks?! Are you joking?!
David tells them that Chloe and Nicolette are starting to sound a bit mean - Clive is quite harmless after all. Chloe suggests Clive could stay with him and Aaron then(!) David just sips his tea, quietly(!)
Nicolette says she'll ring Clive's builder and tell him to get a move on(!)
Outside the Flamingo Bar
Roxy is not having a good shift and has got "bin juice" on her top. She moans to Kyle that she has too much to do and she'll have to stay on to do unpaid overtime, missing their parma night. Kyle is shocked but Roxy feels she has to get her tasks done. But then she changes her mind and says she's going to work to rule!
No.30
Toadie, Susan and Nell are playing Uno. Toadie is in a better mood now and has calmed down. He thinks that he was a bit hard on Melanie after all.
Just then, Melanie arrives and Susan heads off.
MELANIE: I was thinking that we should talk.
TOADIE: Yeah. Yeah, we definitely need to, I'm about to organise some dinner, though.
MELANIE: Do you want me to come back later?
TOADIE: Well...you could join us.
MELANIE: Are you sure?
TOADIE: It's nothing fancy...it's just baked spuds.
MELANIE: I *love* baked spuds.
TOADIE: Yeah...I know you do.
They both look nervous.
No.24
Clive is on the phone to his builder and tells them incredulously that the builder is ahead of schedule and he can move back tomorrow(!)
Clive is a bit disappointed, saying he's really enjoyed being in a busy household and spending more time with Jane. He thinks it might be lonely at home.
Jane suddenly tells Clive to stay on anyway, and Chloe and Nicolette look horrified. He'll make them a "scrummy meal" to thank them.
CLIVE:(to Chloe) You're hungry...(to Nicolette) You're hungry...(to Nicolette's baby bump) and you're really hungry!
He puts Wagner on and sings along. Nicolette looks murderous.
Outside the Flamingo Bar
Roxy tells Amy that she's clocking off. Amy says that she's disappointed, but Roxy says that she can't be expected to work for nothing.
(Later)
Amy is cleaning up the bar when David staggers in with some gym stuff from Aaron. Amy moans that Roxy has gone on a date. David is confused - what's wrong with that when she's not rostered on? He thinks Amy is expecting too much. He suggests that Amy tries to give Roxy some more engaging work.
No.30
Toadie apologies for his outburst earlier and so does Melanie.
MELANIE: I just wish there was a way I knew to make things up to you.
TOADIE: This isn't about making things up...
MELANIE: Because, I would love to be able to promise that something like that will never happen again. But if I'm honest, I'm not sure that I trust myself. And if I don't trust myself to look after your kids, I can't expect you to trust me either.
Toadie takes this in.
TOADIE: ...OK. I thought we were going to talk about how we can work our way through this. You're not sounding too positive, here.
MELANIE:(takes his hand). I really like, you Toad. But this isn't the first time you've had your doubts about me and it probably won't be the last. So, if you want to bail on whatever it is that we've got, I get it.
Toadie looks shocked.
