Number 24
Nicolette finishes a phone call with her mum and lets Chloe know that Jane arrived safely in Mildura. David and Aaron stop by in an angry mood, believing Nicolette was the one who got in contact with Jenna and encouraged her to return to town. Nicolette protests that she had nothing to do with it, which the boys find hard to believe, but Chloe backs up Nicolette's claim. "We know who did," Nicolette admits.
Number 22
Turns out it was Paul, as he's currently offering Jenna a cuppa and words of encouragement to make her less nervous about seeing Emmett. David and Aaron hit their second house of the day in an indignant mood, wanting answers from Paul and Jenna. Paul explains that Emmett recently told him about feeling lonely without his family, so he took it upon himself to get his PI to find Jenna.
PAUL: All I was hoping for is that Emmett would speak to her on the phone, but as it turns out she's got her life back on track and voilĂ , here she is.
JENNA: I'm sober, I promise. I have been for months. I know that's just words but I've got a job and a flat.
AARON: Right, well, I'm sorry but we thought you were off on a bender.
JENNA: Yeah I can understand why you'd think that. And why Emmett would. But the second that I left here I only wanted one thing; to get better so that I could come back for my baby. And I did get better. I'm ready, I was just working up the courage to contact you when Paul reached out and let me know about Brent, and then I couldn't stay away.
David says that Brent is still missing, which Jenna's aware of. She also apologises for springing her visit on them. Paul adds that he didn't want to let anyone know until he checked on Jenna for himself. Aaron points out that Paul had no problem letting Nicolette in on the secret, but Paul says Nicolette contacted him because she knows he cares about Emmett. Paul says there's no conspiracy theory involved: obviously the best plan is for Emmett to reunite with his mum. "If you're well enough, absolutely," David tells Jenna. "I honestly wouldn't be here if I wasn't," Jenna replies.
Number 26
Sheila's in a tizzy because she's just received another parcel in the mail meant for Sheila 2 and she's embarrassed about returning it. Levi and Bea don't understand why she's worried, but Sheila doesn't want to disrupt the friendship they're building. While Sheila's fretting, Bea is also on a rollercoaster of emotions as she looks at a one-star review Sheila 2 has left on the Fitzgerald Motors business page ("Very unprofessional service"). Levi can see Bea's upset, and Bea admits Lucas is coming down from Daylesford for the day to check in. After Levi heads to work, Bea tells Sheila that Lucas doesn't know about Sheila 2's folder yet, nor does Levi. Sheila encourages Bea to let Levi know the truth.
Number 24
Nicolette bangs around pots and pans in the kitchen disturbing Chloe from her work. Chloe carefully asks if Nicolette has got her anger out of her system yet, but Nic's furious that David and Aaron flung around accusations that she would try and get rid of Emmett by bringing Jenna back. Chloe can't help but be curious as to why Nicolette rang Paul, but Nicolette reiterates that she thought Paul would share the same concerns as her and she was right.
NICOLETTE: He could see the whole situation isn't working. And he already got his PI to track down Jenna because he could tell that Emmett needed her. (Snarkily) I'm sorry, I thought you'd have my back on this. I guess I was wrong.
CHLOE: Of course I've got your back.
NICOLETTE: Then why didn't you say anything? Because we both know Emmett wasn't going to tell the boys what I said.
CHLOE: We could both see how upset Emmett was. Aaron and David had a right to know so they could look out for him. I understand your point, I get it. But the boys' argument makes sense too. I'm just trying to make you all see each other's side.
NICOLETTE: You're stuck in the middle and it's all my fault.
CHLOE: It's not. I'm sorry if it's felt like I haven't had your back because I'm trying to be all things to all people.
NICOLETTE: Weirdly one of the things I like most about you.
CHLOE: I get that you want to protect the baby. That you have that instinct. That's one of the things I like most about you.
Number 32 Backyard
David, Aaron and Paul watch from the porch as Jenna and Emmett chat near the pool. David wonders if they'll be able to trust Jenna, but Paul says everything his PI has dug up has supported Jenna's version of events. Paul apologises for not being upfront about searching for her, and says they can "book in a time to tear strips off me later", but David and Aaron say they're not angry. Aaron adds that it was a shock, but at the end of the day they just want what's best for Emmett. Paul gets a call from Sheila 2 and heads off to chat in private.
Out on the lawn, Emmett tells Jenna she looks a lot better than the last time he saw her. Jenna says she'd understand if Emmett didn't believe she'd cleaned up her act as she's let him down too many times in the past. But that's why she's been away for so long, because she wanted to ensure that she had everything under control.
JENNA: I never want to let you down again. When I heard about Brent I knew you'd need me straight away.
EMMETT: I'm worried about him.
JENNA: Yeah, I know. So am I.
She brings Emmett in for a hug.
The Waterhole
Ned and Yashvi stop to chat with Sheila 2 and Ned asks if she's up for an art lesson that afternoon. Sheila says she'd love to as she's in need of some stress relief after enduring business calls with Paul. Yashvi makes a joke about working with Paul, which falls flat with Sheila, so Vi and Ned leave her be. At the bar, Ned admits Yashvi's trying a bit too hard to make things normal again after her part in the stolen notebook debacle. Yashvi says she feels terrible about it, so Ned encourages her to ease off until things settle down.
Sheila sheepishly brings Sheila 2 the parcel she received in the mail, but Sheila 2 smiles and says it's actually a gift from her to show that there's no hard feelings. Sheila's stoked and opens it up to find lobster crackers. Sheila 2 says they're for their "next fancy lunch together" and all the other lunches after that.
Lassiters Complex
Bea has confessed to Levi about the stolen documents, but says she did it because she was worried about Ned's safety. Levi can see why Bea was concerned but points out that she still broke the law. Bea sarcastically thanks him for making her feel worse, but Levi doesn't know what she wants him to say right now. Bea gets a text from Lucas and stresses even more. Levi asks if Lucas knows about the stolen item, but Bea thinks Lucas assumes the one-star review was because she stuffed up Sheila's car. Bea promises she'll tell Lucas the truth, and Levi heads back to work.
Ned and Yashvi have been watching them from afar, noting the tension between them. Ned says he'll have a chat with Levi later, while Yashvi jogs over to speak with Bea and check if she's okay. Bea admits she's freaking out about speaking to Lucas and the one-star review is really weighing on her. "I don't know what to do," Bea frets.
Number 32 Backyard
David tells Paul for what it's worth, he thinks his dad made the right call about Jenna. Paul's appreciative; he really likes Emmett, but he knows he had ground to make up after what happened with Brent. Aaron encourages Jenna and Emmett to have a drink with them when they emerge from the house, but Jenna says she's got something to get off her chest first.
JENNA: Emmett's been telling me what's been happening lately with the mother of your baby not wanting him around.
AARON: Look, it's a little more complicated than that.
JENNA: Don't worry, I'm not blaming anyone. I just think that I might have the solution. I don't even know if the foster agency will go for this, but I was thinking of relocating Emmett to live with my sister, Linda.
DAVID: In New Zealand?
JENNA: I'd live nearby. The company that I work for, they've got a factory over there and they've done transfers before. And I've got money saved we could use for flights.
AARON: Linda never mentioned anything about this last time we spoke.
JENNA: Well I haven't told her yet. I wanted to make sure it was all possible and I've got to fix things with her too. I won't even bring it to the agency if you don't agree. Or Emmett, if you don't want to.
EMMETT: I don't really want to move while Brent's still missing.
JENNA: I'm worried about that too. But I'll make sure that when he's found, he's looked after.
Jenna says it could be the first step to getting her family back on track. Emmett's unsure on how to respond.
Harold's Café
Paul finds Sheila 2 for their meeting and apologises for being late. Sheila reminds him phone calls and emails exist, which Paul says he'll be mindful of in the future. He explains he had some issues on the home front, but nothing serious enough to stop him from completing their deal. But Sheila's got news for him: because he was late, she doesn't have time to stick around. Paul can't believe this is her way of negotiating, but Sheila says her offer on The Hive isn't going to change. Paul coolly says that he'll just see what his other buyers are offering, but Sheila knows he's bluffing. "Call me when you're ready to accept my offer or not," she tells him. "Either way, don't waste my time."
Nicolette and Chloe approach Paul after Sheila leaves and ask if he's heard from Jenna. Paul says that Jenna's actually in town and is doing well, but wants to move to New Zealand with Emmett. Chloe looks shocked, but Nicolette looks quite pleased with this handy solution.
The Waterhole
Bea tells Yashvi that Lucas has arrived, but he's catching up with Toadie first so they haven't really had a proper chance to chat yet. She wonders if they should apologise to Sheila 2 again, but Yashvi says Ned told her to lay low until it blows over. They're interrupted by Sheila 1 asking them for their lunch orders, and Bea lets her know she told Levi about stealing the documents. Sheila's happy to hear it, then tells the girls about the gift Sheila 2 gave her to show there's no hard feelings. Yashvi and Bea then wonder if they should try again with Sheila 2 in case she's in a more forgiving mood with them too.
Number 32
Jenna helps David and Aaron bring in the lunch dishes and says they haven't made their thoughts known on her suggestion yet. Aaron says it was quite out of the blue, but Jenna genuinely wants their thoughts as their opinion is important. David says that moving overseas is going to have a big impact on Emmett, and last time Linda asked him he wasn't keen.
JENNA: I wasn't in the picture then.
AARON: Are you sure you're not just running away?
JENNA: I'm breaking the cycle. That's what New Zealand is, it's a fresh start for all of us. You two are the best thing that's ever happened to Emmett. You looked after him when I couldn't.
DAVID: We love him.
JENNA: I know. (Tearing up) You've done more for him and Brent than anyone else ever would. But I reckon it's time that I stepped up as a mother, y'know?
She goes back outside and Aaron asks David for his thoughts. David knows the decision can't be about them, it's got to be about what's best for Emmett.
DAVID: This is what we signed up for with fostering. Saying goodbye is always meant to be the endgame.
AARON: Yeah, well, knowing it doesn't make it any easier.
Power Road/Fitzgerald Motors
Ned has caught up with Levi for a chat and some milkshakes from Grease Monkeys. Levi says that Bea tends to get in her head about everything and thinks she has to work things out alone. Ned says it's probably because Bea grew up believing the only person she could trust was herself. Levi gets it, but what he doesn't understand is why she lets things spiral out of control until it's too late for anyone to help. Ned knows he's done similar things in the past, and adds that they've all got their own defences. "You've got the job and the law, it's not so simple for the rest of us," he adds. Ned tells Levi that it's all sorted anyway; Sheila's not taking things further after leaving the review so it doesn't have to be a big deal. Levi says he should probably apologise to Bea for playing "bad cop" and thanks Ned for the chat. Ned heads back to The Hive to work.
Inside the garage, Lucas is on the phone to Vanessa, telling her to let the kids know he'll be back in time for dinner. Levi drops by, and Lucas is wary to be speaking with a cop, but relaxes when Levi introduces himself as Bea's boyfriend and that he's also part of the Canning clan. Lucas says that Bea's still at lunch and confirms they've had a chat when Levi asks.
The Hive
Ned and Sheila 2 are just about to start painting when Bea and Yashvi drop by. The girls tell Sheila that they can do better with their apology. Bea apologises again for taking the files and thinking Sheila was trying to take advantage of Ned. Yashvi adds that they feel terrible and if they could take it back, they would.
SHEILA: Ned told me everything about what you guys went through with Scarlett. And whilst you did the right thing for your friend, I still can't get over the fact that you guys stole from me in the first place.
BEA: I know, I did the wrong thing, but my boss is here from out of town and he's going to have something to say about that bad review.
SHEILA: I hope you don't expect me to get involved?
BEA: Well.
YASHVI: If you removed the review then it just wouldn't be an issue at all.
SHEILA: Wait, did you guys come here to apologise so that I'd only help you out?
BEA: No! Not at all, I just (she looks at Ned, who looks away). Look, forget it, this is my problem and I will sort it out. But I am so sorry.
Bea leaves with Yashvi. Ned appears as though he wants to say something to Sheila but doesn't.
Lassiters Complex
Aaron and David walk with Emmett through the complex and say how nice it is that Jenna can stay in town for a few days. Emmett's also pleasantly surprised that Paul located his mum, "he never would have done that last time." David says it's because Paul knows she's changed, and so do they. Emmett says he still hasn't made any decisions about NZ because he's still too freaked out about Brent being MIA. Aaron tells him whatever he decides, they'll support him. David adds that they can even help Jenna put together a plan for the agency to give her the best shot, but ultimately it's up to Emmett.
Nicolette and Chloe spot them across the complex. Nicolette says she's not sure what she's going to do if Emmett doesn't go to New Zealand. She's adamant she won't back down on what she said about the baby. Chloe just wants her to promise that she won't stop talking to Aaron and David. Speaking of the boys, they see Nicolette and Chloe and give Emmett some money for the Café so they have privacy to chat. Nicolette says she heard about the NZ plans, but the boys say nothing has been set in stone just yet.
NICOLETTE: Hopefully everything works out for everyone.
AARON: Hmm, yeah, I think by everyone you mean you?
NICOLETTE: No, I mean everyone. Especially Emmett. And you do know I had nothing to do with this, right?
DAVID: We do now. And we shouldn't have accused you without knowing all of the facts.
AARON: No, and look, we are sorry about that.
NICOLETTE: Okay then.
AARON: Is there anything that you'd like to apologise for?
There's tension all around when Nicolette remains silent.
The Hive/Fitzgerald Motors
Sheila chats about her painting but can tell Ned's distracted in his response. She knows Ned believes she was too hard on Bea earlier, which Ned doesn't deny. He points out that what Bea did isn't much different to him giving Sheila the USB with The Hive's accounts on it. Pausing, Sheila asks Ned what he thinks she should do.
Bea receives a phone call from Sheila ("the one you stole from") and is surprised when Sheila says she's taken down the one-star review. Bea thanks her and Sheila says everything's out of her hands now. Bea hangs up and walks over to Lucas to talk more about the review that was left. Bea pretends she locked the customer's keys in the car and that's why they were upset, but Lucas says he knows about the stolen files.
BEA: Lucas, it was a file on Ned. Yashvi and I thought she was stalking him.
LUCAS: It doesn't matter what you thought. Our customers trust us to do the work without worrying we're going to steal their belongings.
BEA: Okay, yes, I stuffed up.
LUCAS: Yeah you did. And then you just lied about it. If I didn't find out you'd still be lying, and don't tell me I'm wrong.
BEA: How did you find out?
LUCAS: Your boyfriend told me.
BEA: Levi?
LUCAS: I'm sorry, mate, but you're fired.
