Hospital
Des isn't too keen on helping Sheila achieve her goal of spending time with Clive, even if she thinks the pair of them have "a deep connection," that Clive simply cannot have with Jane. When David comes in to see how Sheila is, and suggests that she's had enough visitors, Des can't get out of her room quick enough! She has one last plea, saying "this will be good for everyone, especially Jane," to try and convince him to help.
Number 28
Jay is attempting to try and teach Hendrix to count with multiple packs but given he couldn't get it the last time (with just one pack) he asks Jay to not bother. The lad is fretting because Kane has such a hold over him but can't see a way out.
Terese's office (next day)
Hendrix drops by to check with Chloe that nobody will be visiting the house today, citing that he wants to use the pool. To his relief, she confirms nobody is due at the house. As Hendrix goes to leave, the also present Harlow suggests he uses the time by the pool to investigate getting a job.
Lassiters Complex
Jane and Clive look very uncomfortable around each other when they accidentally run into each other outside of Harold's. Clive reassures her that they don't need to go out of their way to avoid each other, which Jane is relieved to hear. Both admit to missing each other but feel the need to stay strong and stick to the plan for Sheila's benefit... although as they part, neither look too comfortable with said plan.
Harold's café
Taking a quick break from work, Harlow seeks Hendrix out to check that he really wants to be a tradie, admitting that she can't see that being a career choice for him. "I thought the job was pretty awesome," he says, adding that it felt good seeing the building of the house progress. Satisfied, Harlow then suggests that he talks to Kyle as he is bound to have contacts after the Robinson Pines project but Hendrix would rather not, in case he changes his mind about going down that career path.
The Waterhole
Paul and Terese are shocked to hear from Des when he joins them, that Sheila isn't in a good place within herself. Terese tells him not to blame himself, so he asks what she and Clive were like as a couple. "Stormy," is how Paul describes them but Terese interjects to add in that they both "loved each other a lot" and tells him about how Clive supported Sheila in the aftermath of Gary's death. Paul is adamant that Des shouldn't waste his time on Sheila.
PAUL: If Clive couldn't do it, no way can you do it either.
Terese is still unsure why they split, especially as Clive was so upset and admits that she did think they would reunite.
Hospital
Sheila is very pleased to see Clive visit her as he arrives for work and promises to pop in past as much as he can during the day.
Clive then runs into David as he exits Sheila's room and hears that she is recovering well, even if she has annoyed the night staff! He is after a favour though from David - to keep an eye on Jane for him.
Number 24
Having sussed the house and the neighbourhood out when he arrives for the game, Kane is very surprised at Hendrix living at #24. "I like it here," the lad admits and confirms that he has asked his dad for money (to clear his debt) but it is tied up in investments so is taking a time to be released.
HENDRIX: It's coming.
KANE: You'd better hope so... or hope you a get a luckier run of cards until I get my money back.
The Waterhole
Jane catches up with Paul (and Terese) after his trip and seeks confirmation that its true, he has made peace with Nicolette. He confirms that its true and adds that the pair of them should call a truce too, given that they are about to become grandparents.
Talk then turns to Jane and her "stalled" relationship with Clive, which Paul is most upset to hear about. Jane explains that if Sheila's heart attack was caused by the stress of her (and Clive) being together, then she couldn't live with herself if something worse happened. Paul buys the explanation and is sure they will be back together soon enough.
Number 24
Kane gives Hendrix some chips and tells him to "use them wisely" in the game, but he doesn't get off to a good start by losing the first game.
Hospital
Clive is back again to see Sheila... well to give her some reading material so she can stop driving the staff mad! She doesn't get a chance to read them though as Des and Jane drop by, although Jane heads off quickly enough to get Sheila some choccies.
Despite Sheila trying to show Des how nice Clive was to her (when he was in the room), Des still doesn't want to get involved. From her bed, she can see Jane and Clive talking to each other outside, so calls them into her room so she can thank everyone for supporting her "despite my antics." She then blindsides Des by singling him out for staying on in Erinsborough to look after her while she gets better!
SHEILA: It's so generous and it will be such a big help!
Des desperately seeks his voice to say that isn't the case but he simply can't find it and the longer the praise for him staying goes on, it's like he can't do anything but eventually agree to stay in Erinsborough longer!
Terese's office
As they wrap up their meeting, Chloe tells Terese and Paul about Jane being down and that she and Nicolette plan on spending some quality time with her doing jigsaw puzzles to try and cheer her up.
Harlow trades places with Chloe and Terese looks so chuffed to show her that Lassiters are behind the 'change the date movement' but they'd have been as well saving their energy as Harlow doesn't appear interested at all. She does though ask to talk in private with Terese, so Paul leaves them to it.
Alone, Harlow tells Terese that she is worried about Hendrix and the fact that he seems to want to get away from her when she tries to talk to him. Terese points out that it's been a tough couple of months for him and perhaps her support is too much for him. Harlow seems confused by this, so Terese explains that they have clear goals, which is quite rare, and that she can't expect Hendrix "to suddenly turn into you." Terese suggests that she worries less, which in turn will take the pressure off Hendrix.
Hospital
Sheila apologises for blindsiding Des... and then asks if he is okay with her plans! "Its not like you left me much choice!" he replies but she tries to sell him the positives - he likes being in Erinsborough and can keep an eye on Jane.
Meanwhile outside the hospital, Jane and Clive plan to work together to make sure Sheila doesn't take advantage of Des' good nature.
Back in Sheila's room, Des admits he will spend time with Jane... but not by distracting Clive and Jane! However, if things change between them, then he will be there for Jane. "If that happens, then Jane will appreciate it," Sheila reassures him with.
Number 24
Hendrix is still no further forward in winning, thus is having to keep on borrowing from Kane to play. Jay at least manages to buy him some time by persuading Kane to have a wee break.
Number 28
"You have to stop playing," Jay says to Hendrix as the pair walk into #28. "I can't," Hendrix replies as Kane isn't letting him plus he wants to try and win to clear his debt and avoid a bullet!
The conversation is curtailed when Harlow arrives and the boys lie about arranging a swim session so that Jay can leave the house. Harlow is around to persuade him to get him involved (with her) in the lip-synch event for the Foundation. Hendrix readily agrees to lend a hand, but more so that he can get rid of her and back to #24! However, she delays her departure by apologising to him for hassling him over a job and promises to back off but adds that she is there if he wants it.
Number 24
The game has resumed and it looks like Hendrix has caught a break by being dealt two aces. Kane gives him the offer of splitting them and playing two hands, which he accepts and has 20 and 19 in each respective hand. "You finally got some luck," the speaking random tells Hendrix. "Want a chance to up your bet?" Kane asks but Hendrix is quick to reject the offer. The talking random is egging Hendrix on to accept, describing it as his "pay day."
KANE: Okay, how about this. If you win, all your debts are cleared.
HENDRIX: What?!!!
KANE: In the unlikely event I win, I get this house.
"You're out of your mind," Hendrix tells Kane and again, the random extra wants him to take the offer.
KANE: I'm giving you the chance of a lifetime. The odds are massively in your favour. You could easily walk way debt free. Do we have a deal?
Hendrix takes another look at the cards and agrees to the deal being offered. Kane takes a card from the shuffler and he pulls a Queen to go with the 6. He then deals himself another card - this time pulling a 5 giving him 21!
KANE: Bad luck!
