Number 28
Jay thinks that Hendrix is daft to use #24 for the card game but since it's a "one-off," he is happy to let the game take place there. To somewhat pacify Jay, Hendrix says that he is going to use his hosts fee (after telling Kane that #24 is his) and thus doesn't need to be given the money to play.
HENDRIX: With you counting, dude, we can win big one more time and then get out.
The Flametree
Jane and Clive have managed to find a venue where they can meet away from the risk of being discovered by Sheila... even if it means they've gone through the menu! Clive suggests that they get away to the country for a few nights, which Jane is up for and has an idea of where they can go and goes to see if they have any vacancies.
Number 32
Despite Nicolette bringing home some work perks (muffins), David is still giving her the cold shoulder. Nicolette then gets a text and has other issues to worry about - Ricardo is after an answer from her.
Lassiters Complex
As they head to Harold's, Levi is telling Bea about the perfect night he has lined up for her so she can get a good night's sleep. Their chat is curtailed when they run into Hendrix coming out of Harold's laden with goodies. He quickly says that its goodies for a movie night with Jay (who has paid for them) and thankfully for the boys, Bea buys the story.
After the couple head into Harold's, Jay hears the full story - Kane wants the game at #24 to be tonight, which Hendrix felt he couldn't delay, hence buying supplies from Harold's. He adds that Kane has informed those coming what the protocols are for getting to #24 so that the cover isn't blown.
JAY: You can still pull the plug on this whole thing. This can go wrong in so many different ways.
HENDRIX: No dude, we got this okay. Get ready for the pay day!
Community Centre
Aaron has accompanied Nicolette on her way to the Community Centre for her foundation shift, trying to find a way how they can get David back onside. As they arrived, Kane has come out from inside and is surprised to see Aaron. He too is surprised to see Kane, who explains that he is at the centre doing his community service.
"Are you two ex's?" Nicolette asks Kane after Aaron heads off. "I used to go to his gym," Kane replies and after she asks what he did wrong, explains that he ran with the wrong crew and it "didn't end well."
The Waterhole
After he arrives at the pub with Roxy, Sheila is very happy to see Kyle back safely from Germany and gives him a huge hug,. She also has 101 questions, but Kyle isn't ready to answer them just yet. Roxy now isn't too sure if the family dinner was the right move, but Kyle reassures them that he is okay plus he needs to stay awake too.
Number 24
The boys finish setting up the house according to the instructions Kane has provided, before Jay goes to leave so Kane doesn't see them together. Hendrix tells him to give it 30 minutes before returning to the house as he rushes out via the backdoor when they hear Kane knocking on the front door.
"Nice place," Kane comments on entering the house and going to set up for the game.
The Waterhole
Kyle looks like he'd rather be elsewhere than in the pub surrounded by the family. They try to entice him into talking about Bossy and Sheila wonders if he needs to go back to the grief group. "Stop it," he eventually says and points out that Bossy was just a dog, "I needed that group when I lost dad."
Sheila heads to the bar to get them all refills and notices that Jane has a bottle of Clive's favourite wine in her hands. Thinking quickly, Jane explains that Clive recommended it to her and she plans to drink it alone while having dinner. Sheila wishes she could keep her company but explains she has a "Kyle situation brewing" and plans on being there for her grandson.
Number 24
The card game is in progress and Kane doesn't seem too enthralled at Hendrix winning his 6th game in a row. Kane calls a 5 minute break and goes to get some more packs of cards from his bag. Jay looks worried... very worried!
Road somewhere
As they travel to Clive's, Jane tells him about running into Sheila in the bar, and after admitting she isn't comfortable about lying to her, thinks its time they ripped the band aid off and came clean to her. Clive seems surprised at her suggestion, but Jane thinks she is moving on and has plenty of family stuff to keep her occupied. They agree to wait until after their getaway before saying anything, especially as "there is little chance of us getting caught while we are away."
JANE: I'm starting to think that she might be okay with it.
Number 24
Jay finds out why Kane brought out the extra packs of cards - he thinks there is someone card counting, so by using the extra packs, it negates the ability to do that, thus keeping it fair for everyone.
Jay tries to warn Hendrix that they need to get out. Hendrix replies that they can't, otherwise Kane will know something is up plus is sure that Jay will still manage to keep count.
HENDRIX: I need to make that money back. If we start to tank, I'll pull us.
Number 32
As they do the dishes, David is surprised to hear that Kane is out of prison (and doing community service) after Aaron tells him about his encounter. When Nicolette enters the house, Aaron apologises for leaving her with Kane after he took off. She is fine with it but all talk of Kane is ended when she spots her mum come into the kitchen with an overnight bag. Jane waffles that she is going away on a staff training course but Nicolette sees right though the lie!
NICOLETTE: Hot tip, never give away more information than what's asked for. It usually shows a lack of faith in the lie.
JANE: Excuse me?!
NICOLETTE: Blustering outrage - classic defensive move. Skip that and tell me where you're really going.
Jane tries to get her lips to engage but fails spectacularly!
NICOLETTE: One of us perfected the art of sneaking out when they were a teenager... and the other breaks into a cold sweat whenever she accidentally jaywalks. So what's going on?
Number 24
Kane is a happy chappy now having got back all the money Hendrix had previously won. "Can I borrow from the house?" Hendrix asks but Kane doesn't "make a habit of lending to losers." Hendrix blabs that he owns the house, and boasts about who is father is, thus is good for the money.
HENDRIX: My families loaded alright. I'm good for it. I'm cash poor just now but I'm good for it.
Jay shakes his head as Kane agrees to give Hendrix $500.
Number 32
Nicolette is trying to get the truth out of her mum, but she is still waffling, however comes clean after the boys turn in for the night.
JANE: Alright, I am not going away with work colleagues, I have taken on a lover.
NICOLETTE: Oh my God. So many mixed emotions. Delighted, um, that you're getting some, but...horrified at the use of the word 'lover'.
"Who is it?" she asks and is shocked when her mum reveals it is Clive... "the guy who fired me!" Jane is relieved to be finally able to talk to someone about it, especially as it seems to be getting serious between them.
JANE: After 30 years, who would have thought.
Jane acknowledges, that "the fly in the ointment," is Sheila but they plan on coming clean to her after their trip. "That's going to sting," Nicolette warns but Jane is sure that Sheila has other things to focus on just now... or she may surprise everyone by "taking it in her stride!"
NICOLETTE: That's very optimistic of you mum.
JANE: Sheila's my friend and she cares for Clive. She might just want us to be happy. Stranger things have happened!!
The Waterhole
"Nice to have you back Kyle," Bea says to him before she and Levi head off because she is tired. Sheila and Roxy finally get Kyle to open up about his trip - he tells them that Bossy hung on past expectations, until he arrived.
KYLE: It shouldn't feel like this. You know I've had real grief with dad, losing Bossy... it shouldn't be as big, I'm just being a woos.
Sheila rebukes her grandson, telling him that his "grief for Bossy is just as real as it was for your father." Roxy adds in that his emotions are just being stirred up because of what happened to Bossy.
KYLE: It hurts but I can't go to grief group about a dog.
Sheila suggests that they look into an alternative therapy, if he's willing to try something new. "Can't make it any worse!" he replies back to her. "We're in this together," Kyle is told as they head off home.
Number 24
Not even a text from Jay telling him to get out, can stop Hendrix from thinking he can win the money back that he is continuing to lose. Eventually the night comes to an end and we hear that Hendrix owes $10,000!
KANE: I prefer cash and I want it tomorrow.
Hendrix acts like its no problem at all as everyone bar Jay departs from the house. Once they are alone though, it's a different story as Hendrix tries to process what has happened... and that he needs to give Kane $10k tomorrow!
HENDRIX: Where do I even start?! I'm screwed!
Community Centre (next day)
Hendrix meets up with Kane to plead for more time to pay him his money, citing that his dad is out of town on business and needs a few more days. He quickly reassures Kane that he is good for his money, and while Kane accepts the delay, its going to cost Hendrix as "I charge interest and my rates they're steep." Hendrix he is fine with those terms and reiterates that Kane will get his money.
