Previously
- Toadie and Audrey agreeing to go on a date.
- Audrey confirming she was the one behind the anonymous $50k donation.
- Karl confused by Audrey wanting to keep quiet.
- David and Aaron agreeing to try and have a baby using Nicolette.
- David telling Paul (and Terese) what they've done.
- Paul quizzing his son.
- Nicolette voicing her opinion.
- Chloe please to have Nicolette as a friend.
- Pierce trying to warn Chloe about Nicolette.
There is an update to the titles following Pierce's departure - he has been removed from the shot, so it is just Hendrix and Chloe now sitting outside Harold's.
Number 32
Chloe is feeling down following Pierce leaving, so the girls have bailed on their planned visit to the cinema. While acknowledging that she is glad to see the back of Pierce, Nicolette knows it's different for Chloe and decides to let her be alone in the house for a bit.
Number 28
The K's take a break from lugging Hendrix's belongings into the house but their plan to do a runner (so Hendrix moves the next load himself) is put on hold as Karl feels he is still short of his Movember target. Susan comments that she wishes Audrey had donated more so the moustache could be gone (Karl is threatening to keep it longer!) and the pair start discussing her secret. Despite Susan's warning, Karl plans on asking Audrey for more money.
KARL: Don't worry darling... I can be discrete!
Number 32
Chloe tells the boys of Pierce's warning about Nicolette. "I wouldn't worry, it's just a parting shot," Aaron replies and warns his sister not to let Pierce's "bitterness" towards Nicolette "get into your head."
The Waterhole
Nicolette doesn't seem too amused to see Toadie and Audrey chatting (Foundation stuff) when she comes into the bar. After Audrey heads to the bar to refill their drinks, Nicolette joins her and comments on the "happy vibe" that was going on with Toadie. "He's a lovely guy," Audrey remarks and has a dig in at Nicolette for not turning up to help with the Foundation then she'd know how lovely Toadie is herself. Nicolette ignores that and instead wants to know when Audrey is leaving! She the hears that Audrey isn't leaving after being offered a permanent job and seems happy with that... as long as Audrey keeps quiet!
Number 32
David does seem to be taking Pierce's warning seriously and asks Aaron about it. "I think there's a lot easier ways to get a girl than to have her brothers' baby," is Aaron's take. He also points out that they know her better than the dissenters (Paul and Pierce) and since she hasn't given them any reason not to trust her, his stance is to ignore everyone else and stick by Nicolette.
Harold's café
Paul can't help but get involved in a tit-for-tat slagging match with Nicolette when the pair run into each other at Harold's. Nicolette takes delight in saying Jane is behind her, and Terese steps in at this point to say that Paul will be too once he "gets over his reservations."
Once she finishes with Paul, Karl approaches Nicolette at the counter to ask for a donation. She agrees to donate but adds that it will be a small one... but he thinks she is using that excuse as "a cover up" and tells her about knowing about the nurses' syndicate win in Canberra. Nicolette plays along as if she knows about it but does get in that she wasn't part of it.
The Waterhole
Toadie reports to Audrey that he has roped Ned into being the art tutor for the idea she had for the Foundation. He wants them to go on a trial run first (without his or any other kids) and admits that it is also so he can spend time with her. She thankfully feels the same way and by sheer coincidence they both have this afternoon free!
Number 32
"David's not here," Aaron replies after Paul explains why he (and Terese) have ended up in #32. Aaron is at the end of his tether though and warns Paul about coming over to cause trouble, adding that David is already confused enough (which is why he's gone out for a walk). Paul interprets this as good news as he thinks David out walking means he is having doubts... "and thinking rationally."
PAUL: If you can't handle him questioning it, then maybe you're just as much to blame as you say I am for trying to influence him.
AARON: Paul, David and I are partners okay. We make our decisions together.
He also adds that Chloe is having a hard day and thus isn't in the mood to argue. Terese again intervenes and drags Paul off home, which Aaron is extremely grateful for!
Chloe apologises to her brother for letting Pierce's words get under her skin and it's now affecting David. "It's not your fault," he quickly reassures her with before adding that he knows "why you were rattled" and need to figure out how he can reassure David.
The Waterhole
David makes a bee-line for Audrey when he spots her in the bar when he enters. He remarks about her not visiting Nicolette at the house in a bit, which she puts down as them seeing enough of each other at work. She then seems shocked when he mentions the baby plans and clams up when David tries to subtly ask her questions about Nicolette (if she wanted kids, interested in Chloe), so much so that they then say their byes to each other.
Harold's café
After getting their wires uncrossed, Ned agrees to help make the art session different (including taking off for a bit) since Toadie wants to use it as a date with Audrey.
Susan catches the tail end of their chat when she enters the café and Toadie begs her to not tell Karl as he's had enough of his help! "You have my word," she reassures him with.
The Waterhole
Nicolette confronts Audrey over her 'lottery win' explanation to Karl. "Do you want us to get caught?!" she asks but Audrey explains it was the only thing she could come up with as a cover for her donation ("idiot" Nicolette says to her about that) which thankfully for her Karl believed.
NICOLETTE: Don't you get how screwed we are when the real story comes out?! Both of our jobs are on the line here.
After Audrey reminds her that she wanted them to "tell the truth ages ago," Nicolette demands that she heads back to Canberra! "I made friends," Audrey explains as to why she is staying on and Nicolette can't but point out what is likely to happen once they know where the donated money came from!
NICOLETTE: They won't care that you wanted to be honest, because you weren't. It's only a matter of time before people find out BECAUSE YOU CAN'T KEEP YOUR BIG MOUTH SHUT!
The raised voice saying that last bit, catches Karl's attention (he's in another part of the bar) and Audrey acknowledges that she "messed up" but adds that she "didn't mean to."
AUDREY: But you must mess up sometime too Nicolette otherwise David wouldn't have been here asking me all those questions about you.
"What questions?" Nicolette asks and Audrey replies "about you wanting a baby and Chloe." Karl is again drawn to watching them as a panicky Nicolette wants more information but Audrey has had enough of their conversation.
Number 32
Chloe can tell that something is up when Nicolette gets home. She is peeved about David going behind her back and asking Audrey questions about her, when she said for him to ask any question to her. "I think I can explain," Chloe says and tells her what Pierce said before he left.
NICOLETTE: Pierce is still out to get me and he isn't even here.
Chloe does her best to reassure her that David will be fine once "he thinks things through." "I can't risk that," Nicolette replies and heads off to go sort things. Before she heads off though, Chloe stops her to ask if what Pierce suggested is true. "Of course not," Nicolette replies and Chloe looks mightily relieved that was the answer.
Number 28
Susan is after Karl's advice over how to invite Chloe and the Rebecchi family to their Christmas party without offending anyone, but Karl is in a world of his own and wasn't listening. "Those two have such a fraught relationship," Susan remarks after Karl comes to and tells her about what he saw at The Waterhole. He thinks it could be similar to what happened about the 'London situation' hence why Audrey wanted the donation to be anonymous. Susan thinks he is reading more into things however, knowing that Toadie is keen on the lass, she suggests to Karl that it might be wise keeping an eye on Audrey just to be safe.
SUSAN: But this time, Inspector Clouseau, try to be discrete!
KARL: (in a French accent) But of course!
SUSAN: You're an idiot!
Lassiters Lake
Ned has set the art session up so that it is by the lake (and the weather is playing nice too as it's a nice sunny day) and after explaining what Toadie and Audrey need to do... he makes himself scarce!
Given "drawing isn't my forte," Toadie is more than happy to keep topping up their glasses of bubbles and eat the food in the picnic hamper than to do any actual drawing!
Audrey admits that she is nervous as she doesn't know him, but Toadie points out that is what today is for. She gets that but is fearful that he won't like her once he finds out more about her. "I don't think there is any fear of that," he is quick to reassure her with and adds that he can already tell (from the time they've spent together already) what kind of person she is "kind, generous, genuine" and "goofy!" He isn't finished though and adds sweet and selfless into the list too.
TOADIE: I don't want to make you blush again, but if it's not already obvious... I kinda like you!
AUDREY: I like you too.
Number 32
"So, if you have an issue, lets sort it out now even if it technically isn't your business," Nicolette opens up with having decided a meeting with all concerned (Chloe, Paul, David and Aaron) is the best way to sort things out.
"We didn't want to hurt you," Aaron explains over why they didn't tell her what Pierce said but adds that they aren't taking his claims seriously. Nicolette knows David is, which he confirms, and is why he talked to Audrey. She is aghast at him doing that since she doesn't have that sort of friendship with her and reiterates that if they have questions they need to come to her. Paul is sceptical that she'd tell them the truth, so she pleads that they "need to be able to trust each other."
AARON: From now on, complete transparency.
Paul still wants answers though, he wants to know what her reasons are and the reply from Nicolette is simple.
NICOLETTE: I want to have a baby but not in the conventional way. I want to be a mother with you guys. That sounds like the right reasons to me.
"And me," both Chloe and Aaron say once she is finished but David still looks very unconvinced from the looks he is giving.
Harold's café
David admits to Aaron that he is still undecided as the pair relocate to Harold's. He also adds that he'd just about put his fears away until he heard Pierce's warning. "It's okay to be a little bit cautious," Aaron reassures his hubby with although David thinks given they've gone from him heading to Canada to Nicolette potentially being pregnant, that it is too late.
DAVID: Do you really think Nicolette is on the level?
AARON: Yes.
"Clearly jumping in the deep end isn't one of my strengths," David acknowledges and Aaron concurs before adding "at least you've got others!" David asks for more time to let everything sink in...
DAVID: But one of things I do know is that I trust you. So, if you feel confident that we're doing the right thing, then that's good enough for me.
Lassiters Lake
It is revealing time between the wannabe artists. Toadie gets some playful comments back about his drawing after showing it to Audrey. Given how good things are between the pair of them, he is more than happy to have Ned depart from watching them afar to "return some calls." Toadie is blown over when he sees how great her drawing is (very professional compared to his amateur one).
As they walk round towards the lake, Chloe thinks that Nicolette was right to get everything out in the open with her meeting. In return, Nicolette thanks her for the support but the chat is interrupted when Chloe spots that Toadie is with someone. Nicolette explains that is Audrey and looks very peeved that she didn't know about the date. "You don't have to worry about her," Chloe says as "Toadie is a decent guy."
Just as Chloe as said that, we see Toadie lean forward and starts to kiss Audrey... and while Chloe genuinely looks happy for him, Nicolette looks like she is ready to blow a gasket!
