The Waterhole
Sheila is taking great delight in showing off the photo with Courtney when Roxy walks into the pub after arriving back from Darwin.
SHEILA: Look what the cats dragged in.
Roxy seems a bit miffed that she didn't make the grand entrance she was hoping for, but does apologise to Sheila for her rushed departure.
Kyle, after biding his time, goes over to chat with her but the conversation is a bit stifled. He invites Roxy to join him for a drink and a chat, but she turns the invite down, preferring instead to go home and chill.
Number 32
"This is the third time she's met us; she knows how bad we want this," Aaron says to David after the pair have been arguing over how Aaron replied to the loaded question Leila asked. Aaron is still frustrated that they seem to have done everything asked of them, "and in return we get insulted." Much to David's frustration, he plans to put an official complaint in too, although does agree not to send it tonight but wants it in draft form.
Goodwood prison
One of the guards (Owen) makes polite conversation with Dee while she waits for Heather to arrive. He spots the canny resemblance to an in inmate and Dee explains that is her sister Andrea. Dee is pleased to hear him compliment the change in Heather after she started visiting - the officer seems to have a bit of a soft spot for Heather.
Ramsay Street
Toadie is after some advice from the K's - the kids, well Nell, want to see Dee again after seeing her at the hospital. They get why the kids want to see her but agree that he should keep his distance to help him move on. Even if that might be a wee while yet, Toadie also realises that when he next dates someone, he needs to make sure it's the real thing before introducing the kids to them. Toad then thanks Karl for knocking back Heather's request to help find Dee's father and Karl admits it now gives him more time to plan the trip away with Susan.
Goodwood prison
Heather is relived Dee has come back to see her after she got Karl involved in looking for her dad. Dee wants them to have no more secrets from now on and is sure that whoever her father turns out to be, she can handle it. Heather then starts to get herself worked up at the thought of Dee meeting him alone when she finds him as [back then] he was a "bad egg." On seeing how upset her mum is, Dee suddenly announces she will stop looking for him, preferring to concentrate on building their relationship.
The Waterhole
Sheila checks with Kyle if he is coming home for dinner or not as she finishes working. He plans to stay at the bar, hopeful that he will see Roxy for a drink. Sheila is puzzled over this, and so Kyle reveals about them hooking up pre-island, adding what was there isn't any more. After Sheila asks where Jess fits into things, he admits he thought she was a better match but wasn't... he wants Roxy. Sheila is then peeved that she seems to be the last one to know and to make her displeasure known, leaves the bar in a huff!
Number 28/Ramsay Street
In split scenes, we have David unloading to Karl and Aaron unloading to Susan about the interview with Layla.
Susan seems to get Aaron to think of things from David's perspective - he is more looking at the bigger picture, that being certified to foster is far more important than being offended by the application process.
David thinks Aaron should have "sucked it up" to "play the game." Like Susan, Karl tries to get David to see things from Aaron's perspective - he came out earlier [than David] and thus has had years of battling people's perceptions and probably no longer wishes to sit back and listen to people judging him.
Following Susan's wise words, Aaron is beginning to wonder if he has over reacted. "With a lot at stake," Susan points out, "emotions are running high" and that is maybe why David doesn't get it as Aaron thought. He describes the process as "one big pressure cooker" and Susan is sure everyone struggles with the process.
SUSAN: But ultimately you want the same outcome, just try not to forget that.
Number 22
As she preps for dinner, Terese asks Harlow and Ned if Roxy will be joining them for dinner. Neither are sure but suddenly Roxy arrives downstairs from her room and joins them in the kitchen. She admits being in Darwin did help get her head round the fact Kyle chose Jess ahead of her... only to get back and find he's dumped her. "Isn't that a good thing?" Terese asks but Roxy thinks otherwise - she's just gone through the soul searching for nothing! Ned points out that since she is single, "anything's possible," however she describes it as being "right back to where I started."
ROXY: Kyle messing with my head.
TERESE: Only if you let him.
Goodwood prison
Andrea comments on her mum's change in mood... until she finds out how that came out! The mood sullies even further when she works out from what Heather mentioned that Toadie and Dee have been a couple. She ain't happy at Dee coming into the "readymade family" she left, which causes Heather to immediately tell her that they were "never your family!"
ANDREA: HUGO IS MY SON!!! My boy.
She then adds that the more time Hugo spends with Dee, the more confused the little lad will be. Heather tells her to calm down as they've have already broken up and adds that as Dee is "gutted," she should be feeling sorry for her sister! Andrea is 'delighted' to hear that Dee "is miserable," because it "serves her right for taking what's not hers!"
Harold's café (next day)
Dee spots a familiar face walk into the café - Owen, and the pair do the formal intros this time before she shouts him a coffee for being nice to Heather. Owen mentions that she and Heather would be ideal candidates for a new programme the prison is offering for low risk prisoners, they can spend time outdoors doing gardening. Dee is thrilled to hear this, as she knows Heather loves gardening and sincerely thanks him for helping. The pair begin chatting and when Toadie enters the café, she doesn't notice him, but he immediately notices how well the pair of them are getting on.
The Waterhole
Things are still very tense between Kyle and his Gran when he enters the bar. Although admitting she likes Roxy, she declares her unsuitable for Kyle to date and instead wants him to contact Jess and "patch things up with her." He rejects that, because he "wants to clear the air with Roxy," so he can "see where we're at."
Just at that, Roxy enters the bar and Kyle asks for a chat well away from Sheila's ears! He explains to her that he broke up with Jess because he can't stop thinking about her.
KYLE: I want to give us a real go.
Roxy remains totally silent, so much so that Kyle asks if she is going to say something! When she finds her voice, she admits it's a lot and wasn't expecting him to say that.
ROXY: I just got my head around the fact that there's nothing going on between us.
She asks him for time, and he is happy for her to take as long as she needs.
Hospital
Aaron is forced to come to the hospital to see his husband after he snuck out while he was sleeping, to show him what he wrote - not the complaint David was expecting, but an apology! He explains writing about how he found the "interview process challenging" and how they wanted to "be foster parents so bad" but adding that in the moment, he thought she "didn't understand their commitment." "What made you change your mind?" David asks and he explains it wouldn't have been right to send a complaint in without his approval first.
DAVID: I didn't want to hurt our chances. We've come this far.
AARON: Yes, I know. I know. But look, I have to say it hurt that you didn't have my back.
"I'm sorry," David replies and acknowledges the question shocked him too but adds that as much as its hard to understand, they "have to trust that they know what they're doing." As a peace offering, David suggests they ask what the reason was behind the question and "if lacking or prejudicial, then we can make a complaint together."
Ramsay Street
Karl and Toadie arrive back in the street following their 15km bike ride and without a pitstop at Harold's for a muffin either! Toadie tells him (and Susan) about what he saw there earlier, and Susan asks if they were on a date? "They looked pretty cosy," he replies, as Karl interjects to say the guy could have been anyone and even Susan warns him about "jumping to conclusions!" "I guess she's not hurting as much as I am," he replies to having had his knuckles suitably wrapped by the pair of them.
Terese's office
Harlow drops by with a file Terese left at home. She is still there when Sheila barges her way in to talk about Kyle and Roxy. Terese wonders why they are even having a conversation about them when they aren't even together?! "That's new," Harlow comments after Sheila explained that "Kyle wants them to be."
SHEILA: He put it to Roxy, and she is 'thinking about it.'
TERESE: Oh, and Kyle told you all that?
Sheila is forced to admit she heard it thanks to "a snippet of conversation" but plans on "steering Kyle away from this" and wants Terese to do the same with Roxy. Terese immediately asks if that is because Roxy isn't "good enough for your golden-haired boy?!" Quickly she explains that she loves "both of them" but "they're like chalk and cheese," and fears both "will end up miserable."
TERESE: They don't know if they are compatible... they haven't had a chance to figure it out.
Harlow says that she and Hendrix work despite being complete opposites. Terese reminds everyone about the reason why Roxy went to Darwin in the first place and so she might not agree to date him! Harlow is sure Roxy does still like him, having done so "for ages," but Terese wants the lass to make the decision herself "without any interference."
The Waterhole
Roxy tries to avoid Kyle when she enters the bar, but he spots her and calls her name, so she is forced to come to the bar to talk to him. "I didn't think you'd still be here," she says to him and explains why she is in - to check the roster. "See you later then?" Kyle says to her, but she doesn't reply and continues to where she was originally headed, the office.
Sheila has a huge smile on her face as she walks over to the bar to talk to Kyle, that thankfully he hasn't spotted.
SHEILA: She didn't seem that interested love.
KYLE: I only asked her this morning.
SHEILA: Yes, but if she was really into it, she'd jump at the chance. I know there's lots of women out there who would if they knew you were available.
Gran, I only care about Roxy! I really hurt her when I got with Jess, so if Roxy needs more time, that's what I am going to give her.
"I'll get back to work then," she says and gets out her phone to create an online dating profile for Kyle on some app she has opened up!
Goodwood prison
Owen calls time on the women's recreation time and everyone leaves bar Andrea. From how she acts, it looks like the prisoner is rather friendly with this prison guard!
ANDREA: So, how did you get on with Dee?
OWEN: Exactly as planned!
We then hear him say that Dee is keen on the gardening programme and for that information, Andrea promises to show him "how grateful I really am" and seconds later the pair are pashing...seriously pashing!
