Lassiters rooftop pool
Now they've seen each other, Pierce and Naomi do the small talk catch up with one another before Pierce has to leave (work matter). Before they say bye to one another, Naomi puts her phone number into Pierce's phone.
When they were chatting though, the one thing he didn't get a chance to say was that he is married!
Number 30
Mackenzie is fretting as attendees are pulling out of her party, but that is forgotten when a pressie arrives from Auntie Trish - a dress, which she plans on wearing to the party. She is a bit despondent her dad hasn't sent anything to her, but she is looking at the other side of the coin - no embarrassing speeches from her parents... although Shane offers to do that instead!
Number 26
Naomi is still on a high after meeting "someone special" aka Pierce when she gets home. She tells Kyle about knowing him in Sydney but because she was with Charles, turned down plenty of invites from him and so describes it as "fate" bringing them together again! "Are you sure this guy isn't taken?" Kyle enquires and she is sure he isn't due to the absence of a wedding ring, before admitting she has "a good feeling about this one."
Terese's office
Pierce drops by to see his wife and how her meeting with Sheila's daughter went and is relieved to hear it went well, as it means he can see more of his wife now. He was hinting for more but has to settle for a kiss from her and after kissing him, Chloe smells the chlorine on his skin. Pierce explains he went swimming and tells her about meeting an old friend from Sydney at the pool. We now find out why Pierce didn't have his wedding ring on - it's too big (he puts it back on in front of Chloe) and she jokes with him that she is sure he is delaying getting it sorted as a way of indicating to the ladies that he is still available!
PIERCE: Why would I do that, when I already have the best wife in the world?
The 82
As they finish putting the decorations up, Hendrix and Harlow describe what they'd like to do for their respective 18th's - him a 3-day clubbing extravaganza while Harlow would have a quaint high tea with her nearest and dearest.
Kyle finally shows up and thanks Roxy for helping set things up. Things are still a bit awkward though between them and she gets him to go check on the others to get him away from her.
The Waterhole
Naomi is looking at a picture of herself and Pierce on her phone when Mackenzie and Shane enter the bar - he is wanting her to choose a bottle and Naomi interrupts to tell Mackenzie to pick something off the top shelf since her dad is paying! Awkward!!! Mackenzie heads to the bar to get a bottle and Shane introduces himself to Naomi - he knew who she was after Toadie pointed her out at Gary's funeral. "Don't worry, I'm a reformed woman... my trouble making days are behind me," she says to him after he confirms he's heard a story or two about her!
Chloe swaps places with Shane and Mackenzie as she's meeting Naomi, and while she heads to the bar to get a drink, Naomi looks once more at the photo of herself and Pierce.
The 82
The birthday girl gets a warm greeting (and pressies) from everyone when she (and Shane) arrive at the tram. Hendrix spots the bottle of bubbles she has in her hands and wants to open it, but she wants to wait until Richie has arrived.
Meanwhile Yashvi suggests to Ned that now is the right time to tell her parents about his career change, but he'd rather wait until he's got some orders locked in before saying.
YASHVI: Are you scared of my dad?
NED: Yes, a little bit.
YASHVI: Man up Willis!
Shane is telling his wife what Naomi said in the pub. He is also annoyed that Grant hasn't made any effort to contact his daughter, but Dipi thinks they should instead concentrate on making sure Mackenzie has a great day, so she doesn't think about her dad.
The Waterhole
Chloe is impressed at Naomi's determination to come up with an event for the forthcoming Pride Week so they can keep the ball rolling after their recent event successes. Innocently, after mentioning to Naomi that she was married, Chloe asks if she's anyone special in her life. Naomi's reply is no, but she has her "eyes open" and is "ready to pounce."
The 82
Harlow is doing her best to get Mackenzie to focus on her party than worrying over when Richie is going to be turning up. As they chat too, Aaron sends a text about the focus group and Mackenzie mentions that Susan seemed uncomfortable about their participation, so they agree not to help Aaron.
Kyle breathes a sigh of relief when Roxy explains to him how she knows who is able to have alcohol (they are wearing blue bands on their wrist) and those that aren't (green bands) after checking everyone's ID when they arrived. He is sincerely thanking her when he spots that Hendrix has the wrong band on (blue rather than green) and she goes over to sort it out.
The Waterhole
Naomi is telling Chloe tales about life in LA when Pierce walks into the bar. Thankfully, when it comes out that Pierce is Chloe's hubby, Naomi's chin doesn't hit the floor! After the connections come out, Chloe seems thrilled that Pierce and Naomi know each other, commenting that it will help make things easier that they're already getting along with one another.
CHLOE: This is going to be fun!
The 82
Mackenzie's day is saved when Richie arrives... scooting down Power Road on his skateboard, dressed in a snazzy pale gold suit with a card and a bunch of flowers in his hands! Getting off his skateboard, he goes over to her and presents himself (and his pressies to her) before apologising for being late. Turns out he'd organised a horse and carriage ride for the pair of them, but the horse was ill, so he's revered to plan B instead - a poem, which he reads out to everyone in front of her.
Mackenzie, you are stupenzie
Your hair is brown, you always let it hang down
What can I possibly say, but the girl that makes my heart go hey
You make me so happy, I want to do ballet
You're the one that lights up my life and you scare away all the bad wildlife
Even if you wore a sparkly dress, I'd still be hard pressed to call you anything but the best
The random extras clap and go "aww" too, as Mackenzie describes it as "awful" before pulling him towards her and kissing him! That gets a bigger "aww" from everyone before Richie tells the DJ to get the music on!
Terese's office
Now he knows who she is, Pierce seeks Naomi out to offer his condolences about Gary. "It's been hard," she acknowledges, and he is somewhat surprised she didn't recognise him when news of what happened came out. She explains that as avoiding the press coverage, so it didn't upset her. The pair then start chatting about happier times partying in Sydney, and Pierce confirms that he's well and truly left that scene behind now he is a married man.
The 82
Mackenzie goes rifling through Richie's jacket pocket to retrieve the poem - she is stealing it so she can keep it forever! He seems happy enough she has done that by the way he then kisses her.
Meanwhile as they watch Hendrix dance (very impressive moves!) Shane comments about Ned appearing to have the day off. Yashvi wants him to use the window to tell her dad about the change in career but he just can't do it, much to her annoyance!
Kyle is chatting to Jessica on the phone and can't end the call quick enough when she spots Roxy. Once he hangs up, he checks if Roxy can hold the fort (she can) as he ruses off to be elsewhere...
Harold's café
...And that place would be the café to pick up Mackenzie's birthday cake! While there, Kyle runs into Naomi who is still looking down and tells Kyle about knowing Pierce (he's at a table with Chloe) and that they got on really well - although does add in that nothing happened. He is quick to get her to acknowledge nothing can happen now with Pierce (yes) but gets the feeling that Naomi isn't taking it too seriously, so more firmly tells her that Chloe is a friend.
KYLE: Do not cut her grass okay. They are happily married.
NAOMI: Don't worry, those days are long gone!
The 82
Harlow gives up dancing with Hendrix to go over to chat to the very down in the dumps Roxy. In fact, Roxy is so fed up (and she thinks Kyle went off to be with Jessica) that she decides to take off her apron and walk away despite the fact the party is still ongoing! "You just can't leave Roxy," Harlow pleads with her but is told to "watch me" as she literally walks away from the tram!
Mackenzie pauses the music to thank everyone for coming to her party, telling them that they all feel like family to her and she couldn't have asked for a better one.
Kyle arrives back with the cake and he's not impressed to hear that Roxy has bailed before the clean up after he asked Harlow where she was.
Number 30
"It was perfect," is how Mackenzie described her day as the #30 mob (and Ned) enter the house with the pressies (before Yashvi plans on taking the birthday girl back out). She admits that she is glad her dad didn't appear, commenting that she's better off only letting folk "that truly love me" into her life.
Ned goes off to have forty winks as the lassies also leave the living room to get themselves ready for the city. Dipi goes over to where Shane is set to burn the midnight oil studying to ask if he is okay. "No," is his reply and explains to his wife that he was trying to do the right thing but think he has actually done the wrong thing.
DIPI: What do you mean?
SHANE: I called Grant.
