Number 26 Backyard
Karl disappears from the fence and misses Gary hurriedly backing away from Dipi, shocked by the kiss. Dipi is equally as stunned by her behaviour and apologises to Gary. He asks if she's just using him to get back at Shane and says he was just trying to be a supportive mate. Dipi tearfully says she wasn't planning on kissing him and that it never should have happened.

GARY: Then why did it?
DIPI: I don't know! I just lost my temper and then with everything going on I just had to do something, anything! But I definitely shouldn't have done that.

Gary stammers that they'll just put it "down to a brain fade that no one ever needs to know about". But Dipi realises she'll have to tell Shane as she expected full honesty from him when it came to Roxy. "I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't give him the same." Gary sinks into the spa in despair while Dipi continues to look guilty.

Number 28
Finn's dad, Trent, has sent Bea a text asking if they're still okay for tomorrow. Bea replies yes then hides her phone when Finn walks in. Finn wants to go out for dinner to take his mind off his dad and then suggests to Bea they go for a drive up the coast tomorrow for Valentine's Day. Bea hastily says she has too much TAFE work on to go anywhere for V-Day. Karl walks in from the backyard, disturbed by what he thinks he's seen over the fence. Bea and Finn invite him to The Waterhole for dinner, but Finn's concerned when Karl says it'll be good to see Shane. Karl brushes him off, saying he's just hoping to get mate's rates for their meal.

The Waterhole
Finn can see that Karl's distracted as soon as he spots Shane and calls him out on his meddling. Bea's confused so Finn explains; "Karl thinks that Gary is hot for Dipi". Karl mutters that it's true and that he saw intimate physical interaction between the two.

FINN: What? Through the fence?
KARL: Well I heard the spa jets, and I just... Instinct.
FINN: You were spying again! I told you not to get involved in other people's business.
BEA: Sometimes it's justified.
KARL: Thank you, Bea.
BEA: When you care about someone you look out for them.

Shane comes over to ask them what they want, and Karl dramatically stands up and says he wants to save Shane from a marriage breakdown. Shane sighs with all the weariness in his soul and asks Karl what on earth he's talking about now.

Number 26 Backyard
Gary and Dipi are now both out of the spa and dressed. Dipi tells Gary she's off to The Waterhole to explain everything to Shane. Upset, she tells Gary that she hopes she hasn't ruined their friendship. Gary assures her everything's going to be okay and gives her a hug - just as Shane appears. They break apart and Dipi says it's not what it looks like, but Shane's like, 'What? Like two people who have just been making out in a spa?' Gary's exasperated that Karl has been spying on them. Shane says he didn't ask Karl to, but he's glad someone at least has his back.

DIPI: We kissed but it's not what you think.
SHANE: What, are you trying to get out of it?
DIPI: No, I was on my way to tell you now!

Gary tries to leave them alone to talk but Shane angrily grabs him by the shirt. Dipi intervenes and yells out that she was the one who kissed Gary. Shane's heartbroken. Dipi says it was a mistake, but Shane doesn't want to hear anymore from her and walks off in a daze.

Number 32
Elly thanks Bea for bringing over takeaway for her. She then tells Bea she has something important to ask her.

ELLY: Will you be Aster's lighthouse?
BEA: A what?
ELLY: Like a godparent! You know I'm not religious so I had to find other names to use.
BEA: And you come up with lighthouse?
ELLY: Yeah, well I want Aster to have people she can turn to during the storm.
BEA: Well whatever you want to call it I'd be honoured.

Cute little Aster smiles up at them from her bassinet. Bea asks who the other 'lighthouse' is and Elly says she's chosen Finn. Although she gets the impression now might not be the best time to ask him. Bea nods and says she might have made things worse by getting in contact with Trent. He's flying down tomorrow and she hasn't told Finn yet. Elly says this could be really upsetting for Finn, which Bea is aware of, but she wanted to meet Trent herself first and see what kind of headspace he's in. Elly says she'll ask Aaron to babysit Aster tomorrow so she can meet Trent with Bea.

Lassiters Greenway
The next morning Bea and Elly meet Trent, who is dressed smartly and speaks politely to the sisters. He immediately asks how Finn is doing. Bea admits he's a bit fragile, hence why she wanted to see him alone first. Trent asks if Finn still doesn't remember anything from since he was a teenager. Elly says no and then questions Trent on the last time he saw Finn. Trent says it was when he got back from Colombia, nothing since.

BEA: So you know what happened over there.
TRENT: Yep. It was tragic.
ELLY: So why didn't you help him?
TRENT: I tried. I had the money. I could have saved him.
BEA: So why didn't you?
TRENT: Because I was a screw-up back then. Leaving my son in that hellhole was the worst thing I have ever done.

Ramsay Street
Toadie can't believe Shane didn't tell him about everything last night, but Shane says he needed space to think things through.

TOADIE: Want to talk about it now?
SHANE: My wife kissed another bloke, not much else to say.
TOADIE: You are going to bring it up with Dipi though aren't you?
SHANE: Do you reckon it's a full-blown affair?
TOADIE: No.
SHANE: She said the kiss was a mistake; maybe she's just trying to soften the blow.
TOADIE: Mate I've seen the way that she looks at you. After twenty years and three kids she's not interested in an affair.
SHANE: Could be revenge for the Roxy thing I suppose.
TOADIE: Well, only Dipi can answer that.
SHANE: I can't even look at her right now.

Toadie says that's fair enough but warns Shane not to let things fester for too long. He adds that it was only just one kiss, but Shane reminds his bro that Dipi instigated it.

SHANE: Even if she's regretting it, in that moment she wanted to kiss someone else. What does that mean for our marriage?

Lassiters Greenway
Trent tells Bea and Elly that he thought Claudia was going to pay the ransom, then pretty soon found out she was only paying for Shaun's freedom.

TRENT: I didn't have any savings but I got a few donations and I was able to sell Finn's things. I jumped on a plane with a bag full of cash.
BEA: And then what happened?
TRENT: I was antsy so I went to a bar. I met this woman there and she was a real looker. We wanted to kick on when the bar closed.
BEA: You took her back to your hotel room.
TRENT: A few things happened I'm not proud of. Long story short, I lost every cent. There was no way I could pay the ransom anymore so... I left.

Elly and Bea are shocked. Bea can't believe Trent just jumped on a plane and went back to Australia. Trent says there was nothing else he could do so he gave up.

ELLY: What? You got side-tracked by a woman and ditched him. You can't tell him that!
TRENT: But if he understood I was an alcoholic, I made a bad mistake.
ELLY: Yeah we understand that, but all Finn will see is another parent who abandoned him.

Trent agrees not to say anything about Colombia to Finn but begs them to let him see his son. He needs to know Finn's doing okay. Bea and Elly are conflicted.

Number 26 Backyard
Dipi leaves a voicemail for Shane saying that she knows he's angry but they really need to talk. Gary's outside with her and gets aggro when Karl stops by, but Dipi says she invited him over to explain himself. "You're lucky I didn't call the cops you creep!" Gary sneers. Karl understands how it looks like he was snooping, but he was just trying to be a friend to Shane and assure him he had nothing to worry about.

KARL: (he turns to Gary) Except there is something to worry about, isn't there?
GARY: Oh no, no, no, that should have never happened.
KARL: But it goes deeper than that doesn't it? Especially for you, doesn't it Gary?
DIPI: Excuse me?
KARL: Okay, look, not my place...
GARY: None of this ever was!
KARL (jumping right back in) I heard you talking to Terese yesterday about having feelings! And you didn't want to act on them so people didn't get hurt. Then I saw you guys kiss; I had to tell Shane!
DIPI: Gary I'm confused.
GARY: (to Karl) I wasn't talking about Dipi, you idiot! I was talking about Prue! Prue Wallace!
KARL: As in Harlow's mum?
DIPI: But she broke your heart.
GARY: Yeah and Terese was talking me through it.

The huge error of Karl's ways is written in big neon signage all over his face.

Number 30
Finn and Kyle are with Toadie for a Buddy Club meeting, but the only discussion going on is the kiss between Gary and Dipi. Finn asks how Shane's doing and Toadie replies he's out the back having a beer. Elly and Bea stop by to have a chat with Finn, so Toadie and Kyle skedaddle out the back to check on Shane. Bea dives straight in and tells Finn she got in contact with Trent and he's in Erinsborough right now. Elly adds that he wants to see him. Finn doesn't know how to respond.

Lassiters Complex
Bea, Elly and Finn see that Trent is sitting out the front of Harold's. Finn's annoyed that Bea went behind his back, but Bea says she could see how much he was struggling. She adds that Trent really loves him; otherwise she wouldn't have brought him here. The girls sit and watch as Finn musters up the courage to walk over to his dad. Trent beams when he sees Finn and says it's been a long time. Finn apologises for not calling but he was worried Trent wouldn't want anything to do with him.

TRENT: I never stopped thinking about you. But you know I was in a bad place when you left home. It only got worse after that. You wouldn't have wanted to be around me. I was rock bottom when your brother called about you waking up.
FINN: Are you better now?
TRENT: Much. After that call, knowing you had a second chance, I took stock of things.

He takes a silver coin out of his pocket and hands it to Finn. It's a token that says 'one day at a time' and has '6 months' in the middle.

FINN: You're in AA.
TRENT: Six months sober. And I spent all that time trying to work up the courage to see you.
FINN: I guess we both had some big changes in our life.
TRENT: Lots to catch up on, that's for sure.

Finn is pleased and tries to hand back the coin, but Trent says he wants his son to keep it. "You're the reason I'm sober. You deserve that more than me." Finn smiles and invites his dad to have coffee. The girls watch on in interest.

Number 30
Karl uncomfortably admits to Shane and Toadie that it turns out Gary wasn't pining over Dipi after all. He won't name names, but the woman Gary's interested in is complicated. Toadie's annoyed and asks Karl if he sees now why he shouldn't have got involved. Karl apologises to Shane, but Shane says that Dipi kissing Gary isn't his fault.

SHANE: I pushed her to it. I spent so long jealous of her and Gary, then we didn't see eye-to-eye on Kirsha's education.
TOADIE: I didn't help that.
SHANE: She was so uncomfortable about me and Roxy.
KARL: That was just friendship.
SHANE: It was, but that doesn't matter, she's my wife. I should have put her feelings first before Roxy's. Before mine.

Number 26 Backyard
Dipi tells Gary that at least now after Karl's visit she understands why Shane's shutting her out. She then asks him what all this Prue stuff is about, reminding him that she hurt a lot of people last time she was around.

DIPI: I'm surprised you still hold a torch.
GARY: I guess we're both just pretty lonely.
DIPI: Have you been talking to her?
GARY: Yeah.
DIPI: I thought she couldn't speak to anyone outside The Order?
GARY: She snuck in a phone.
DIPI: Does Harlow know?
GARY: Not yet. I'm not going to say anything until Prue has decided what she's doing.
DIPI: About what?
GARY: She's thinking about leaving The Order.

Dipi thinks that's great but Gary's worried about how Prue's going to make it happen, especially since the Leader sounds so manipulative. He wishes there was some way to help her so Dipi suggests he book a flight to London, "If you really cared about Prue you would go and be the hero she needs."

Lassiters Complex
Finn tells Trent that having Aster around makes it feel like Shaun's still with them. He misses his brother every day. Trent gets a text reminder that his plane's due to leave soon. Finn's disappointed that their chat has to be cut short, but Trent says he promises he'll come back.

FINN: Dad before you go... The doctors say that trauma that was caused in South America; it was the reason why I did all those bad things. I just want to know where you fit in.
TRENT: Mate, I...
FINN: I understand you couldn't afford the ransom.
TRENT: Let's talk about it next time, yeah?
FINN: Sure. It's been a big day.

Trent says it's been a great day and gives Finn's shoulder a squeeze before he leaves. The girls approach Finn and Bea asks how everything went. Finn says it was great but they didn't get a chance to talk about the kidnapping. Elly's concerned to hear that Finn and Trent are going to talk about Colombia next time he visits.

A short while later, Elly catches up with Trent in the car park just as he's about to get into a taxi. She needs to know he's not going to go back on the deal they made.

TRENT: I can't talk about this now.
ELLY: So just listen. Finn has done a complete one-eighty in the past year. I don't want anything to set him back.
TRENT: No offence, but what happens between me and Finn isn't any of your business.
ELLY: If it wasn't for my sister there'd be no business between you and Finn.

She urges Trent to tell Finn he loved him, not that he left him for dead. Trent says that Finn's already asking questions and that it's best he gets answers, but Elly disagrees. She argues he needs to do what's best for Finn, not himself. Meanwhile, Finn has been watching them arguing from afar and is very confused by the interaction.

Number 26 Backyard
Kyle is more than a little stunned to hear that Gary's heading over to London to see Prue.

KYLE: Isn't this a bit rash?
GARY: You went to see a girl in Germany once.
KYLE: Yeah look how well that turned out.
GARY: At least I can speak the language. I'm not expecting a fairy-tale; it's just Prue needs some help getting out of The Order.

Kyle asks if Prue is worth all the trouble. Gary says she's not perfect but then neither is he: they understand one another.

KYLE: Dad don't take this the wrong way, but what if they try and recruit you?
GARY: Mate I'm not going to be going anywhere near The Order. I'm simply going to go there, save Prue, bring her back to Erinsborough, that's it.
KYLE: You gonna tell Harlow?
GARY: I don't want her getting her hopes up just in case.
KYLE: What about Terese?
GARY: I'll call her from the Uber, but can you look after things here? Junior Lassiters needs a daily sponge bath.
KYLE: Hard pass.

Dipi appears and lets Gary know his Uber's out the front. She thanks him for putting up with her and giving her a place to stay. Gary asks if she's heard from Shane. Dipi says she hasn't but she's not waiting any longer. They look like they might hug before Gary leaves but then think better of it.

Number 28
Bea asks Elly where she got to earlier when Finn suddenly bursts in and demands to know what Elly and his dad were talking about. He tried to call Trent but his phone's off. Elly lies and says she just tried to pay for his taxi, but Finn doesn't believe her. He's extra suspicious when Bea chimes in (after working out what's happening) that it's nothing.

FINN: You're in on this as well?
BEA: There's nothing to be 'in' on.
FINN: First you call him and bring him to town without asking me. And now you're keeping secrets. What's going on?
