Lassiter's
Lisa is telling Pierce how thrilled she is about his and Chloe's decision to have another baby with her, and thanks him profusely. She prepares to call Alana, and also wants to be the one to tell Hendrix about the plans, as it might be an opportunity to mend things with him.
PIERCE: Can I just say, about Chloe (...) we just need to be respectful of her, alright? Throughout all of this.
LISA: Yeah, of course. I don't want her to feel like the odd one out; we'll make sure she's included the whole way.
Lisa excitedly starts thinking about drawing up the legal arrangements.
Lassiter's Lake
Chloe is on a bench, next to Elly who's holding Aster (or rather, a bundle of blankets, as Aster's not in it today).
CHLOE: I must be totally insane. Why did I think I could do this?
ELLY: It's not the end of the world! Lisa's not pregnant yet - just go and tell Pierce you've changed your mind.
CHLOE: And break his heart?
ELLY: It's okay to do that, Chloe - especially right now. If Lisa gets pregnant, that will be the point of no return.
CHLOE: I think I'm having trouble breathing - I thought I was okay. Lisa's probably called the clinic already; she'll have those babies defrosting as we speak!
ELLY: There's still time. Come on, Chloe.
CHLOE: Maybe Pierce will change his mind? Maybe he'll realise it's all too complicated?
ELLY: Yeah. It just seems like he really wants this...
CHLOE: He does. He was so excited.
ELLY: Just have the conversation, okay? The longer you drag this out, the more complicated you're making it.
Lassiter's Day Spa
Roxy is having the most awkward time imaginable at the spa, while Dipi chats inanely and inadvertently insults Roxy's choice of nail polish!
DIPI: 'Scarlet Woman'! Ugh - sounds like a mistress.
Elaine, the beautician, tells Dipi this is the colour Roxy's chosen for her toes. Roxy immediately decides she wants another colour instead, but Dipi tells her not to change it because of her.
DIPI: We can both be scarlet women!
Dipi tries her best to chat to Roxy, but Roxy's feeling too guilty about Shane to muster much of a response. An awkward silence descends.
Harold's Café
Hendrix arrives to meet Lisa.
LISA: I wasn't sure if you were gonna turn up or not.
HENDRIX: Well, I figured you were paying. You're good at that sort of thing.
LISA: One day you're gonna realise that life isn't as cut-and-dried as you think it is.
HENDRIX: That's it? Yeah, good chat (!)
LISA: Look, the decisions I made about you and your sister - I thought I was doing the right thing.
HENDRIX: Yeah, well, lucky you don't have any more kids to 'do the right thing' with, then.
LISA: That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Chloe's decided she's on board. So we're going ahead with trying to make this happen.
HENDRIX: What, you and Dad are gonna have another kid with Chloe?!
LISA: I hope you can try and see this as a positive.
HENDRIX: How? How?!
LISA: Well, Alana will be here; you'll have a little brother or sister who'll adore you.
HENDRIX: Yeah, right - what a great way to bring the family together, Mum (!)
LISA: I think it will.
But Hendrix looks deeply hurt by all this.
LISA: This doesn't take anything away from you, Hendrix.
HENDRIX: ... Yeah. Whatever, Mum.
He gets up and leaves.
The Waterhole
Gary is chatting to a not-very-interested Sheila at the bar.
GARY: And this bloke wants his money back, because it's got emu in it. And I said, 'Well, mate, what do you think the words are on the menu for?'
Sheila makes it crystal clear that she's not interested in hearing about Gary's day at work, and demands to know what he's doing here.
GARY: Nothing! I'm just brightening up your day.
SHEILA: Well, absence makes the heart grow fonder. So scram, love!
Mildly offended, Gary goes to leave. Meanwhile, Shane is wandering around absently, distracted by the thought of Roxy and Dipi spending the day together. While Shane takes some glasses to the kitchen, Sheila clears a table where Toadie is sitting, and remarks to him about how distracted Shane has been today. She also mentions that Roxy is thinking of quitting her job. Toadie looks suspicious.
Lassiter's
Chloe turns up at the office to see Pierce; he can immediately tell something is wrong, and guesses it's to do with the decision to have a baby with Lisa.
CHLOE: ... It wasn't the right one. I don't want to do this. I hate myself for saying that; I'm so sorry.
PIERCE: It's okay.
CHLOE: I know how much you want this.
PIERCE: Yeah. But like I said before, I don't want this if you're not on board.
CHLOE: I thought I was. And then the words came out of my mouth, and it just... felt so wrong.
PIERCE: Wrong because you don't think it'll work between everyone?
CHLOE: No, it's not that. I never thought we would even have the baby talk - I was always so sure it wasn't for me. And then when I was diagnosed, things just became even clearer - door firmly closed. But maybe it's not.
PIERCE: ... It's not?
CHLOE: The whole situation is not exactly simple. There are so many complications, and the idea of me being a mum is super-scary. But... that's the thing. For the first time ever in my life, I'm actually thinking about having babies of my own.
Pierce seems happy.
The Waterhole
Lisa runs into Aaron at the pub, and asks him where his 'little one' is. Aaron, who's with David, explains that the baby she saw him with the other day is their housemate's.
LISA: Sorry, my mistake. You were just so good with her, I assumed she was yours.
AARON: Yeah, don't let her mum hear you say that!
LISA: Well, families come in all shapes and sizes.
Lisa moves further into the pub, and introduces herself to Toadie, who she's arranged to meet to discuss drawing up a co-parenting arrangement for the baby she's going to have with Pierce. She explains about the frozen embryos; Toadie looks a bit bewildered by the news, but congratulates her all the same.
Lassiter's
Chloe is apologising to Pierce for messing him around.
PIERCE: I'm not gonna have a baby with her if there's a chance that I could have one with you.
CHLOE: But it might never even happen. And right now - with work, and life in general - I'm not even ready to think about it.
PIERCE: Yeah, so we put the brakes on that conversation, and pick it up when you're ready. That's okay.
CHLOE: Do you really mean that? Lisa wants this and she wants this now; you'd be giving up a sure bet.
PIERCE: I'd rather take a chance with you.
They smile at each other.
Lassiter's Complex
Roxy thanks Dipi for the spa day, while eagerly trying to get away from her! But Dipi seems determined to spend more time together, and suggests they have dinner tonight - it would give them an opportunity to talk more, she adds.
ROXY: What's more to say?
DIPI: Maybe there's something on your mind -
ROXY: There's not.
DIPI: It's never a good idea to bottle things up; and maybe that's why you're feeling a little bit off-colour? Look, whatever it is, I want you to know that I'm here to help. I'm not gonna take no for an answer!
ROXY: I'm learning that about you.
DIPI: Cool! Well, then, I'll see you at The Waterhole at seven.
Roxy reluctantly agrees; then, as Dipi ducks into Harold's, Roxy marches across the courtyard to talk to Shane, who's clearing tables outside the pub.
ROXY: Your wife just cornered me into having dinner with her tonight.
SHANE: You didn't say yes?
ROXY: I had to - she's like a tank. She just rolls over you.
SHANE: Okay, so don't turn up. Just text her and tell her you're sick or something.
ROXY: And then she'll come round with chicken soup. It's like I'm her new project.
SHANE: I'll talk to her.
ROXY: You need to.
Harold's Café
Gary tells Dipi he was thinking of heading to the cinema tonight, but Dipi tells him she can't join him, as she's going for dinner with Roxy. Gary wanders off, and Shane comes in - who also tells Dipi he's thinking of heading to the movies! Dipi repeats what she's just told Gary.
SHANE: Oh, but haven't you just spent the whole day with her?
DIPI: Yeah.
SHANE: Isn't that long enough?
DIPI: Well, I'm making the effort - I thought you'd appreciate that?
SHANE: Oh, I do, I do. It's just, I'd appreciate us making an effort for *us*, too.
Dipi tells Shane they can go into The City™ together on the weekend instead, and suggests that Shane should go to the movies with Gary tonight!
DIPI: I'm sure he'd love the company.
SHANE (under his breath): Great.
Lassiter's Complex
Hendrix comes to moan to Roxy about his mum having a baby with Pierce and Chloe, but...
ROXY: I'm sorry, Hendo - I'm just fresh out of sympathy today.
They see Elly walking past with the pram.
ROXY: You could learn how to change nappies?
Meanwhile, Elly goes over to chat to David and Aaron, who are at a table outside Harold's. Elly offers to cook them both dinner tonight; but Aaron is still a little frosty with Elly following their recent clash, and tells them they have a family meal with Chloe tonight. Elly suggests tomorrow night instead, and David is keen; but Aaron is noncommittal, replying that he has some work stuff to do.
Elly leaves them to it, and David gives Aaron a look.
DAVID: She's trying.
AARON: ... I know.
Lassiter's
Pierce and Chloe run into Lisa, who tells them that Toadie is setting up the legal agreement for them; but their sombre expressions immediately reveal they have bad news for her. Lisa's visibly devastated as Chloe reveals that she's changed her mind about the baby plan.
CHLOE: I thought I was sure. I really didn't want to get your hopes up or anything, but...
PIERCE: We still may want to have a child of our own, in a few years.
LISA: Yeah. Right.
PIERCE: So it's gonna be a no from us, in terms of using the embryos.
CHLOE: I'm sorry.
Lisa tries to put on a brave face.
LISA (upset): It's not the sort of thing you can be unsure about.
CHLOE: I know how much you wanted this. I really wish things were different.
No 24
Elly is advising Chloe that 'honesty is the best policy'.
ELLY: I know I haven't always been the best poster girl for that. But look where it got me!
CHLOE: It's an exhausting policy. And a pretty devastating one for Lisa.
ELLY: Yeah, but if it means you and Pierce might have a baby...
CHLOE: That's not happening any time soon. And might not ever.
ELLY: But you're talking about it. You're being honest with him, and you've left the door open.
CHLOE: And that part of it feels good. I just wish we didn't have to stomp on Lisa along the way.
Hendrix comes in, and demands to know why Chloe agreed to Lisa's baby plan, saying she can't let it happen. Elly leaves them to talk; and Chloe explains to Hendrix that in fact she's changed her mind, and they aren't going ahead with the plan. He sits down next to her.
HENDRIX: Oh. Umm... are you okay?
CHLOE: I'm fine. Your mum, not so much. We're having a family dinner tonight, and Lisa will be there, so... can you please just try and be civil? This was something your mum really wanted; she's hurting right now.
The Waterhole
A worn-down-looking Roxy is at a table with Dipi, as Sheila asks after their plans for the night. Dinner's the only plan right now, but...
DIPI: The night is young, so who knows?
Sheila asks Dipi to try and convince Roxy not to quit her job.
ROXY: Oh, yeah, cos that's exactly what I want to discuss on a night out (!)
SHEILA (to Dipi): I dunno what's got into her. Maybe you can figure it out.
ROXY: I'm right here.
When Sheila's gone, Roxy tells Dipi that she just wants a change from bar work. Dipi says there's nothing wrong with that.
ROXY: Exactly. End of conversation.
DIPI: Yeah, so you and Shane are great mates, and you feel like you can talk to him about anything, yeah?
ROXY: ...
DIPI: I just want you to know that I'm here for you, too. If you've ever got something on your mind...
ROXY: There's nothing on my mind.
DIPI: (...) Look, it's up to you whether you want to tell me or not. But whatever the case, I'm here for you too.
ROXY: That's really kind of you, Dipi.
Overcome with guilt, Roxy scurries off to the bathroom...

Aaron and David have arrived for dinner with Chloe, Pierce and Hendrix. Aaron seems relieved that Chloe's turned down Lisa's proposal, whereas David is more diplomatic and says it was the right choice for them. Chloe is still feeling bad about hurting Lisa.
HENDRIX: That baby's better off in a freezer, seriously. The kid dodged a bullet big-time.
CHLOE: Hey - remember what I said. Try to be nice.
At this point Lisa arrives, and Aaron's surprised to recognise her as the woman he bumped into in the pub and café. Lisa realises that he's Chloe's brother, but it's awkward when Lisa mentions the 'gorgeous little baby' Aaron had with him, as everyone can see how much she wanted one. Aaron properly introduces himself and David. Hendrix looks uncomfortable in the background.
No 30
Shane is looking forlorn on the sofa when Toadie comes in, and grabs them both a beer, which Shane declines. Toadie mentions that Sheila said Shane had been distracted at work, but Shane shrugs it off.
TOADIE: I know something's going on with you and Roxy.
SHANE: ...
TOADIE: And there's my confirmation.
SHANE: No, no - no, it's not!
TOADIE: What's goin' on?
SHANE: It's not... *bad* bad, I promise.
TOADIE: It's not good, either.
SHANE: Oh, just leave it, will ya?
TOADIE: Oh, I'd love to. But you are doing a very, very bad job of pretending like nothing is wrong. And Dipi is gonna notice. So whatever it is, you'd better tell her, before she starts asking questions.
Shane nods in agreement.
No 24
Chloe and Pierce are about to serve dinner. Feeling bad for his mum, Hendrix encourages Lisa to come and sit with him; and together with David and Aaron, they all take their seats.
LISA: Before we get started, I just wanted to say that tonight doesn't need to be awkward. I was a bit emotional this afternoon, but... there are no hard feelings. I mean that.
CHLOE: It's not like you have to fake it, either. We know you're disappointed.
LISA: Well, I haven't given up on the idea of having another baby. I'm just gonna have to make this one from scratch.
DAVID: You mean with a sperm donor?
LISA: Yeah, I'm thinking about it.
CHLOE: Wow! I mean, umm, that's great!
PIERCE: Do you have anyone in mind?
LISA: Not yet; I've only just started looking into it. But I could use a sperm bank. I don't have to know the donor.
AARON: Yeah, that's what I reckon - sometimes it's better not to know. Why would you buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, right?
Everyone laughs.
LISA: Yeah, well, I'm not fussy. I just want kind, smart, funny and good-looking. The whole package, really.
PIERCE: It doesn't sound hard to find at all.
Aaron looks at David, as if he's having an idea...
The Waterhole
Roxy returns from the bathroom, and Dipi notices she's been crying. Roxy tries to pass it off as eye-watering caused by a customer's strong perfume, but Dipi isn't buying it.
DIPI: Hey, talk to me.
ROXY: I should go.
DIPI: No, not until you tell me what's upset you so much. Look, whatever it is, I'll listen. No judgement.
ROXY: Please don't say that.
DIPI: It's true! The more I get to know you, the more I realise why you and Shane are such good friends.
ROXY (tearful): You don't know me!
DIPI: Yes, I do!
ROXY: You don't know what I'm like!
Sheila has been watching all this; and at this point, Shane comes in, too.
ROXY: I'm selfish, I make horrible decisions - and you should hate me for what I did!
DIPI: ... What do you mean?
ROXY: I kissed Shane.
A horrified Dipi looks over at an equally horrified Shane...
