Terese's office
Paul is trying to persuade Pierce that Terese shouldn't resign, partially as it means they're "admitting guilt and that is not a good look." Pierce isn't interested though; the hotel needs to show that it "owning your mistake" and therefore is "accountable." Chloe is the one to ask Terese what she thinks, and she sides with Pierce, saying that its "probably for the best" much to Paul's alarm.
PAUL: You are not going down for this!
Paul has a suggestion - he becomes the manager and Terese resumes her role once the dust has died, as it shows they are "taking action" just like Pierce said they needed to do.
Handy woman
Amy is locking up the yard when David arrives suggesting they go for a coffee, but she sees though his ulterior motives and vetoes it, however he reassures her that he is there for her before heading off. Kyle (who arrived from work seconds after David arrived at the yard) suggests going for a drive to get away from everyone, but she plans instead to go see Elly.
As they were taking, Amy received a text with formal notification that she didn't get the job.
Number 28
Elly finishes a phonecall from Dipi having received her wrath for helping Kirsha with her application. Toadie apologises for dragging her into it, promising to have a word with his sister-in-law... if they ever speak to him again that is!
Toadie is around to see Finn with a proposal to get the buddy club off the ground (as a legacy to Shaun) but before he can reply, Karl arrives home from London and thus begins another round of 'how are you doing'. Finn is struggling to handle things, so announces that he is off to an appointment with David and Elly volunteers to drive him.
Hospital
Elly accompanies Finn to his appointment with David and tries to get him to see that Toadie only had good intentions (over the buddy club), which Finn gets, but just that he pushed too hard. As she makes small talk with David before he starts his session with Finn, she then learns about Chloe's impending move to #24 with Pierce.
Lassiters Complex
As they exit the hotel, Pierce still isn't happy at Terese hiding what she did especially given what the hotel stands to lose and potentially, plus there could be fall out at Melbourne Cup event too. That bit has Chloe in a tizz; however she refuses to let him pull the pin on the marquee as they've put too much work into it.
Elly arrives in the middle of them discussing the issue and is not sure if it's a good interruption or not, but she lets them know that she is happy at the news of them moving in together. Chloe apologises for not telling her personally, citing that she has been very busy of late and after Pierce departs, apologises for not going to see her about Shaun. The pair decide to put aside them giving each other space, to resume their friendship.
Hotel foyer
Paul finishes calling his sister to let her know the news. Lucy doesn't want him to be manager as it's a "conflict of interest." Terese is confused since Paul had nothing to do with what happened 3 years ago but he explains that its because he is "being implicated in what is going on today."
Their day is getting worse when Toadie arrives (Terese asked him to check out the legal ramifications) to break the news that they potentially could be sued by everyone filmed on the hidden camera. And it gets worse - those affected 3 years ago could have a claim too! Terese thinks that they will only know if they are told, but because its now a police investigation, they are being told... nearly 100 people!
TOADIE: There is no easy way to say this, the fall out of this is going to be massive!
Terese's office
Paul finishes relaying the updated news to his sister and Lucy wants to be proactive by getting the lawyers involved now to offer settlements before anyone thinks to sue them. "It will cost a fortune," Pierce proclaims but Paul fears going to court will cost them more.
Pierce isn't impressed that she kept quiet as he invested in the hotel and she can't but agree with him. Paul goes to get the ball rolling with the PR department, but Terese stops him as they need a new manager pronto!
Hospital
Finn apologises to David if he didn't get too much out of today's session, but David is grateful for anything to help his study.
Naturally, talk deviates to how Finn is coping with the loss of his brother. He admits that the memorial service helped but it's the constant reminders that is now starting to get to him.
DAVID: It's not easy to avoid.
Finn agrees with David before going onto tell him about Toadie calling round to talk about the buddy club and feeling that if it goes ahead with someone else running it, then he will be forced to accept that Shaun is really gone.
FINN: I don't know if I am ready for that.
Number 28
The K's are onto Toadie as to why he can't avoid the place - he is reluctant to go home because of the cold shoulder he is getting from Shane and Dipi although adds that he can put up with it, however, hates that Kirsha is being affected too.
The Waterhole (veranda)
Amy gets the feeling everyone is watching her as she heads out to the beer garden with Elly. She even plans to avoid going to the Cup by hiding out in the yard tidying up. Naturally talk gets around to the video and Amy says since it isn't coming down, she isn't trying to let it get to her nor read any of the comments as Kyle thought she would... although her body language would suggest otherwise! Thankfully Liam reports that Jimmy hasn't seen the video, which was her main concern.
AMY: Now I just need everyone else to stop caring so I can get on with it.
Lassiters Complex
Kyle finds someone to let off steam to about Amy - Chloe. He tells her that Amy says she is fine, even though he is sure it is affecting her, and refers to some of the comments he's read online as "disgusting" despite earlier telling Amy not to read the comments. Chloe wonders if Amy will open up if he tells her how it is affecting him, and he replies "maybe."
Its Chloe's turn to vent now - she is scared that "Scandalgate" is going to ruin the Melbourne Cup event because she wants to dress up and have fun. "That's your biggest drama?!" he replies but it isn't, as she has a plan...
CHLOE: It's where I am going to propose to Pierce!
KYLE: (shocked) What like marriage?! Chloe, that's huge!
CHLOE: Pierce is the one.
Kyle points out that its "a bit quick," and she replies that doesn't matter because Pierce is so supportive, lovely and there for her. "You're crazy," he tells her before adding that he is "happy for her." This is why she is nervous that her plan may go awry if the marquee is cancelled.
KYLE: You could still propose?
CHLOE: Where?! The stupid Waterhole?!
He reminds her that he proposed there, so she twists it to say it won't be special elsewhere before swearing him to secrecy!
Number 28
Toadie is back to talk to Finn about buddy club and reveals that he's left a message for Aaron as he wants him to run it. Finn doesn't look too pleased at the suddenness of the news and adds that given it was Shaun's idea, what makes Toadie the best one to decide who to run it?
Finn then bolts from the livingroom and Toadie is sure an 'I told you so' is going to be forthcoming from Susan, but she takes a different route by reminding how he reacted to Dipi and Shane's help when he got back from the US. "That was different," he protests, "they packed up Sonya's stuff." And Susan explains why - they believed that was what he needed whereas he felt that was something only he could do, thus "they took that away from you."
SUSAN: That's how Finn feels right now. You can't fix this for him.
Lassiters Park
Kyle comes clean with Amy by confessing that despite what he said to her, he read the comments online. He adds that it is getting to him "knowing that people can watch us at any time and there's nothing we can do about it."
KYLE: That video has turned what we had into something dirty.
She again reiterates that she is "trying to put it behind me," and when he won't let it rest, angrily tells him that she doesn't "want to talk about it anymore" and to make it clear, she walks off to head home alone.
Lassiters hotel
As they watch more guests check out, Chloe tells Terese that they've had lots of cancellations too.
CHLOE: I'm sorry this is happening to you.
TERESE: (resilient) I brought it on myself.
Chloe praises Terese for being such a good boss even if at times she hasn't been the best employee. "Don't sell yourself short," Terese replies, describing her as a good worker and is glad she didn't fire her!
Terese's office
Terese has decided who should be the hotel's new manager - Chloe! The lass and Paul are stunned at the news but Terese explains that she knows the hotel in and out and Lucy has also given her blessing too for the temporary appointment.
TERESE: (to Chloe) I think you'll do a good job.
Paul can't get his head round his wife's decision especially as Chloe isn't qualified and they are in damage control.
PAUL: We need somebody who knows how to deal with this mess.
TERESE: Chloe knows the business. She's my eyes and ears around here. She knows how I like this place to be run.
Paul asks Pierce for his thoughts and he agrees with Terese that it's the "right choice." To appease Paul, Terese assures him that she will be in the background to "make sure that this works" and wouldn't be able to do that with someone she doesn't know.
Number 26
Kyle lets Paul in to have a chat with Amy. He begins by acknowledging that she's been avoiding him... and that he'd do that too if the shoes were reversed.
AMY: I'm avoiding everyone dad. People want to know how I'm coping.
After making himself comfy at the table beside her, he asks that she tells him. Exasperate she repeats that she is "fine," but Paul isn't fooled, replying "that's about the least honest you've ever been with me." Eventually she opens up by being scared over how many folks have watched it, and she is only doing business over the phone so that way she can't see their face and know if they've seen her naked.
AMY: I have no control over this.
Paul tells her about the plans the hotel are going to instigate and suggests that she does an interview too. "Why would that help?" she asks her dad, and he explains that way she "can have control, give the media the right story."
PAUL: Nobody knew that those cameras were there except the scumbag that did this. He should be the one that's coping it from the public, not you.
"Maybe I should," she replies back and through in the livingroom, Kyle looks ready to explode!!
Lassiters foyer
Chloe is sitting contemplating when Elly spots her and says she knows that look.
CHLOE: Terese just made me acting manager of the hotel.
Elly is thrilled for her and knows Terese wouldn't have given her the job if she weren't capable. "I guess," Chloe replies and adds in that she has a safety net of Terese and Pierce behind her.
ELLY: So why the long face?
CHLOE: I just... I didn't expect my whole life to come together this quickly. It's all happening!
Elly seems confused as she didn't think the hotel was that important to Chloe, it is but its not she babbles on.
CHLOE: I'm going to ask Pierce to marry me at the races tomorrow.
"Oh wow," Elly replies with a fake happy smile on her face, adding that its "big news!"
ELLY: You sure you're not rushing into it?
CHLOE: Of course I'm sure!
Elly expresses her concerns that this news seems "impulsive" especially since they "don't even live together yet." Chloe remarks that Elly isn't the best one to be dishing out "relationship shade."
ELLY: I'm not trying to do that; I just don't want to see you make a mistake or...
CHLOE: Thanks for the truth bomb friend! Don't need it!
Number 22
A hot headed Kyle arrives to question Paul suggesting that Amy gives an interview. He admits that he's struggling to get Amy to "open up about this mess" but Paul wants her "to go tell the world." That isn't what Paul is suggesting, he simply wants Amy to be able to take control over what his happening.
KYLE: Wrap it up however you want, but we both know that you're using her to get sympathy for your hotel.
PAUL: Kyle, don't... just don't!
KYLE: Yeah. Not exactly a denial there Paul!
Paul's comeback is that his "hot-headed attitude" is perhaps why Amy doesn't want to open up to him since it isn't exactly "reassuring."
That last bit is like a red rag to a bull and Kyle literally grabs Paul by the lapels and tells him that he is the one that did it to Amy...
KYLE: You smug piece of...
Kyle doesn't finish what he'd like to describe Paul as, he simply removes his hands from the lapels and tells Paul instead:
KYLE: You're not worth it.
