Power Road

No 30
Shane is alarmed to find that Dipi is reading documents about facial recognition and credit card tracking, and she admits that she was thinking of tracking down Karen/Dee in South Africa. Shane's annoyed, reminding her that Toadie has decided he doesn't want to look for Dee.
SHANE: We have been behind his back numerous times. We are not doing it again.
At this point, Toadie comes in from the back yard, and asks them if they want tacos for dinner.
DIPI: Yum, yes.
SHANE: Nice one.
But their enthusiasm seems somewhat lacking, and Toadie asks them what's wrong.
SHANE: Nothing. Just really like tacos.
There's a knock at the door; it's Finn. He's come round to offer his services helping out at the Sonya Rebecchi Foundation. While they're talking, Shane hides Dipi's research on the bookshelf so that Toadie doesn't see it. Toadie listens politely to Finn, but says there's nothing he could do that springs to mind at the moment.
FINN: People don't trust me; I get that. But I'm willing to work behind the scenes. You know, whatever you need.
TOADIE: Okay. I'll keep that in mind.
Finn leaves, and Toadie asks Shane and Dipi what they think he should do about Finn. Shane suggests they may have to accept that Susan and Karl were right about him having changed; and Dipi points out how useful his donation has been. But Toadie is still sceptical about him working for the foundation. Shane points out that Finn has teaching experience, which could come in handy.
Erinsborough Hospital
With both Karl and David out of the country, Clive is presiding at the hospital. He tells Sheila, Amy and Gary that Kyle is fine - he just has a small cut on the back of his head, some bruising and a mild concussion. He intends to keep him in overnight, but that's it. They all go in to see Kyle, who's looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow; but Clive says he shouldn't for at least a week.
GARY: Mate, I feel terrible about this. I really thought that scaff was solid.
AMY: Like you'd know. He's the one with the experience.
KYLE: Hey, let's leave it - talk about it tomorrow, maybe.
GARY: Is there anything you need at the moment? Heat pack? Icepack?
KYLE: I reckon you've done enough already.
GARY: ...

Toadie and Dipi come in from the shops, and find Andrea in the living room, with Willow. Andrea says she's just come round to drop off some textbooks for Willow for school next term. Toadie's a bit taken aback, but doesn't object. He asks Dipi if she can look after Hugo tomorrow morning, but she has a busy day at the café, so can't. Toadie resolves to cancel the client he'd booked in, but...
ANDREA: Hey, I'm free (...) I've got the hypnotherapy session in the afternoon, but I'd be more than happy to take care of Hugo in the morning. I'd love to.
DIPI: I don't think that's the best idea.
ANDREA: Look, I know it's a big step, and that you don't quite trust me yet (...) I'm not gonna leave the house. Hey, look, I could call you. Make regular check-ins, if you feel like you need it.
TOADIE: Thank you very much, but maybe -
ANDREA: Please?
TOADIE: ...
Willow intervenes by saying she could be here for some of the time while Andrea has Hugo.
TOADIE: ... It would get me out of a jam... Okay. But there are gonna be strict conditions.
ANDREA: Of course!
But Dipi looks hugely uncomfortable with Toadie's decision.
No 26
Sheila, Gary and Amy get home. Sheila goes over the road to No 32 to pack some of Kyle's things, leaving Gary and Amy alone. Amy is being frosty with Gary.
GARY: You might as well just say it.
AMY: Say what?
GARY: I, umm... let my ego get in the way of doing things right, and Kyle copped it.
AMY: Yeah, he did.
Amy walks off.
Erinsborough Hospital
An evidently very concerned Amy is visiting Kyle.
AMY: Seeing you fall like that... you know, thinking you might have a head injury, or damaged your spine...
KYLE: Who knew being dense would come in handy?
They both laugh.
KYLE: You don't have to worry. I'm all good. In fact, I think they might be letting me go soon.
Amy offers to give him a lift home, but Kyle says that Chloe will be taking him. When Gary comes in, he's visibly disconcerted to find Amy sitting on Kyle's bed. The atmosphere changes, and Amy hurries off to work, leaving Kyle with Gary. Gary makes an awkward attempt to chat, but Kyle is clearly annoyed at him.
GARY: Oh, mate - you know, I feel terrible about this. Especially when it's my fault. I should've spent more time checking the scaff, like you said.
KYLE: Yeah, you should have.
GARY: I just hated you bossing me around.
KYLE: You don't get it. I'm the registered contractor. I'm responsible for workplace safety.
GARY: Mate, I said it was my fault.
KYLE: No! I could've lost my licence, not to mention my life.
Gary looks awkward.
Harold's Café
Toadie comes in and finds Finn at a table. Toadie has been thinking about Finn's offer of help, and tells him that the foundation has some adult literacy classes starting; he suggests they could chat about how Finn could get involved.
FINN: ... Sure! Just let me know when and where.
TOADIE: Righto. Will do.
Finn smiles in disbelief as Toadie walks off, and Dipi congratulates Toadie for doing his 'good deed for the day'.
TOADIE: Oh, well, Andrea's looking after Hugo, so I'm a regular Saint Toad today!

Dipi tells Toadie she's got through all her deliveries, so she can take Hugo after all. But Toadie's reluctant to renege on the agreement with Andrea at this late stage; it would look like a vote of no confidence in her. In which case, Dipi says, she can at least supervise Andrea. But Toadie says that Willow will be dropping in, so there's no need. Dipi objects.
DIPI: I just think that -
TOADIE: No, look, okay, you know what? Andrea is here, whether we like it or not. At least if we keep her involved with the kids, then she's actually more likely to give us some information on Heather.
DIPI: Okay, so you think she knows something?
TOADIE: Well, quite possibly, yeah. Some kind of memory that's just trapped in her subconscious somewhere, that's gonna give us a clue, a location. Anything.
No 32
Kyle is back home, and hanging out in the garden with Chloe.
CHLOE: All I get from work are paper cuts - you fall off buildings. Talk about action!
KYLE: Oh, yeah, I'm a real-life stuntman!
Amy turns up. Kyle points out she's supposed to be at work; she claims she was out and about and wanted to check he was okay, or if he needed anything. Kyle says he's fine, and Chloe says she's playing Florence Nightingale today. So Amy reluctantly exits. Kyle thanks her as she goes. It's awkward.
No 30 / Geelong
Andrea is playing with Hugo on a play-mat.
ANDREA: Oh, sweetie, I miss you so much when we're not together! But do you know what? (...) Soon, we are gonna be together all the time, like a proper family. Hey - do you know who else misses you? Nanny misses you, doesn't she?
Andrea decides they're going to Skype Nanny!
At the apartment in Geelong, Heather is posing with various clothes she's bought in the mirror, when Andrea calls on Skype. Heather is thrilled.
HEATHER: Oh, I've always got time for my Hugo! Hello! There he is, my handsome boy! Hello, sweetheart! Oh, you're such a sight for sore eyes.
Andrea explains that Toadie had a babysitting emergency, so agreed to let her look after Hugo - but she doesn't have long because Willow is due back soon.
HEATHER: I'm so pleased everything's working out for you!
ANDREA: Yeah. And they're gonna continue to work out, just so long as Nanny doesn't get involved.
HEATHER: Oh, no - you just wouldn't believe how boring I've been! You know, just lounging around the apartment, reading magazines...
But Heather is very hyper today. She darts across the room, picks up a bra from the bed and poses with it in the mirror, before returning to the phone - then shifts again to take a swig from a hip flask! She returns to the phone again.
HEATHER: I just love that I've had this moment with Hugo - thank you!
Andrea quickly ends the call, as Willow arrives.
Power Road
Paul turns up at the tram site, where Gary is standing around looking forlorn. Paul has come to let him know that the site has been shut down following Kyle's accident.
PAUL: Pretty careless, wouldn't you say? Unless, of course, it was intentional.
GARY: What's that supposed to mean?
PAUL: Well, getting your son out of the way - makes things a bit easier for you with Amy, doesn't it?
GARY: If you've come here to give me a hard time -
PAUL: Oh, no, no - that's just a bonus.
Paul says the site will now have to pass safety certification before work can continue. Gary complains that they're already way behind schedule; Paul retorts with, 'whose fault's that, then?' and walks off.
Harold's Café
Shane finds Dipi in the kitchen, still doing research into Karen/Dee; she's placing an ad on a Cape Town news site, and offering a reward for anyone who can provide info on her whereabouts. Shane tells her again that she needs to stop.
SHANE: Toadie doesn't want this. He doesn't want to chase after a woman who's chosen not to be a part of his life for years.
DIPI: If we find her, he'll stop focusing on Andrea (...) He's going with her to her hypnotherapy sessions; he's letting her spend more time with Hugo. And she's getting closer and closer every day; it's scary.
SHANE: Okay, she's Hugo's mum. It's Toadie's choice to have her a part of the kids' life. You need to respect that.
But Dipi just returns to the computer.
No 30
Andrea enters the living area holding a baby monitor, having put Hugo down for a nap. She looks at a framed set of photos on the wall, of Toadie, Sonya and Nell. She then snoops around, looking at a jar of vitamin tablets and a bottle of some kind of liquid. She then starts rifling through Toadie's documents on the desk. She looks at more photos of Toadie, Sonya and Nell on the noticeboard.
Opening a drawer, she pulls out some letters and starts rifling through them, too. Then she looks at the bookshelves, and retrieves the folder that Shane hid there earlier, containing Dipi's papers. Looking through the folder, Andrea finds various documents about tracking down missing people, and a photograph of Dee prior to her disappearance at sea.
Hearing a car approach outside, she puts the file back on the shelf, and rushes to sit down on the sofa, just as Toadie comes in. She tells him everything went well.
ANDREA: Got me thinking about your situation, actually.
TOADIE: What situation's that?
ANDREA: With Karen. I know you're not looking for her anymore but - you know - if you ever change your mind...
TOADIE: No. No, not a chance. I'm done with all of that. I just want to find Heather, that's it.
ANDREA: Yeah, good. I mean, it must be painful, you know - looking, wondering... Searching for answers that never come.
Toadie looks uncomfortable, and Andrea says she has to leave. He says he'll see her later for the hypnotherapy session.
No 26
Sheila and Clive come in from the back yard (or maybe just the laundry-room) and find Gary in the kitchen. He explains that work is on hold on the tram until they pass a safety check. Gary asks if Sheila's seen Amy; he's supposed to be meeting her for lunch. But Sheila hasn't.
At that moment, Amy walks in. She says Paul's pulled a few strings to expedite the safety inspection at the site.
GARY: I just feel bad for Kyle.
Geelong
At the apartment, the bed is covered in the lingerie Heather's bought. Heather is doing her make-up, but rushes to hide the lingerie as Andrea comes in.
Andrea tells Heather about the file she found at Toadie's, suggesting that someone is still looking for Karen. But she doesn't think it's Toadie, she says; he said he doesn't want to look for Karen. Heather asks if Toadie's starting to trust Andrea; she confirms that he is, bit by bit.
ANDREA: It certainly helps to have that freakazoid Ian out of the way. Here's a thing - I haven't heard from him. Not one message, not one phone call all day.
HEATHER: Oh, well, maybe he's started to move on.
But as she's speaking, Heather notices a quartz crystal heart, of the kind Ian gave to Andrea, lying on the bed, and hurries to hide it. Andrea notices Heather has make-up on, and asks if she's going out somewhere. Heather insists not; she's just had a lot of time on her hands, she says.
HEATHER: Anyway, what about this business with Karen? Who do you think's looking for her? (...)
ANDREA: I think it's Shane and Dipi. And they're looking in the wrong place.
HEATHER: South Africa?
ANDREA: Mm-hm.
HEATHER: Where is she really? I know Ian told you.
ANDREA: And you know I can't say.
HEATHER: Because you don't trust me.
ANDREA: No, because you don't need to know where she is. Because we're never gonna meet her.
HEATHER: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
ANDREA: I think I need to find a way to find out for sure if it's Shane and Dipi.
No 26
Kyle turns up and lies on the sofa, telling Sheila he's come to get away from Chloe who's driving him mad. Sheila remarks that she's worried about how things are 'sitting' with Kyle, Gary and Amy.
KYLE: Oh, jeez, Gran. I was coming here to have a break.
SHEILA: Oh, well, I don't mean to pry, love. I'm just worried about you.
KYLE: I thought things would get better, to be honest.
SHEILA: But they haven't?
KYLE: No. And I don't think they ever will. So I've decided, once the tram's finished, I'm gonna leave Erinsborough.
SHEILA: No, no, no - you don't need to do that. You just need more time.
KYLE: Time's not gonna do anything. Except maybe make things worse. I've got to go (...) Honga and Narelle are keen to hit up Bali again. I could go with them, or... visit Chris in New York.
SHEILA: Oh, no - please just stay a bit longer. It will get easier.
KYLE: No, it won't. The street's not big enough for all of us, Gran.
No 30
Shane and Willow are at the table, while Toadie opens the door to Andrea. She admits she's nervous about her hypnotherapy appointment, and asks if they can walk back to the hotel together. He agrees, and invites her in. Andrea asks if she could borrow a book from the shelf - but while she's reaching for one, she 'accidentally' knocks Dipi's file all over the floor.
As Andrea retrieves the papers, she brings the photo of Dee amongst them to Toadie's attention. Toadie realises the file isn't his, and looks at Shane and Dipi, who's just emerged from the kitchen.
TOADIE: Start talking, you two. What the hell is this?
