Erinsborough Hospital
Shane comforts a tearful Kirsha in the waiting area, while Yashvi paces up and down.
YASHVI: Why hasn't anyone said anything? It's been ages.
As if by magic, Karl appears. He takes Shane to one side.
KARL: Dipi's heart stopped for a minute. They managed to start it again with the defibrillator.
SHANE: So they got her going again?
KARL: Yeah, yeah. Oxygen levels and heart rate are steady, but (...) she's at risk of a stroke if we can't get the blood pressure up again.
Shane is very upset, as Yashvi and Kirsha await news in the background - but Karl insists they're doing everything they can for Dipi. Shane asks if he can see her; Karl says he'll get back to him. Shane then hugs the girls, saying they'll go and see Dipi in a bit.
Rebecchi Law
Toadie tells Susan that the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) wants to meet with her tomorrow - and that it's their best chance of getting her attempted murder charge dropped. Toadie warns Susan that if they ask her a direct question, to wait for his go-ahead before answering it, and to keep her answers concise.
SUSAN: Toadie, surely once they understand what happened, they're not gonna push this case any further?
TOADIE: That is the hope. But we can't get complacent.
Toadie gets a call from Shane, telling him what's happened to Dipi....
Ramsay Street
Toadie tells Amy and Gary about Dipi going into cardiac arrest - her heart's beating again now, but Toadie doesn't know how she'll be. He's heading to the hospital shortly to see her.
GARY: I can't believe this is happening!
TOADIE: Mate, no-one knew about the allergy, okay? It really is just one of those things.
Toadie heads inside.
GARY: I didn't think that I could feel any worse.
AMY: What you did to Dipi was an accident. She's young and fit; she's got that on her side.
GARY: What about what I did to you?
AMY: I've been thinking about everything. And I realised I need to go and see Dad.
GARY: And you're gonna tell him everything.
AMY: He needs to know what happened.
GARY: Amy... I know that I've got a lot of ground to make up with everyone, with you. And I don't know if I can. But I want to try.
But Amy just walks away.
Erinsborough Hospital
Shane, Kirsha and Yashvi are sitting around Dipi's bed. Karl reports that her blood pressure's still low, but not critical - Dipi's going to be fine after a couple of days' monitoring. At this point, Dipi wakes up, and asks what happened.
SHANE: We'll fill you in when you're feeling a bit better.
KIRSHA: You had a cardiac arrest.
SHANE: Or we could do it now!
Karl tells Dipi that she may experience some bruising as a result of the defibrillation, then leaves them to it. Dipi asks if Shane's called their other kid, Jay, and her sister Mishti. He has, but decides to text them with an update. Dipi notices how quiet Yashvi is, and realises she's feeling guilty, because Dipi got attacked when she went to retrieve Yashvi's phone.
YASHVI: I'm really sorry, Mum.
DIPI: Hey, come here. It was just one big accident.
YASHVI: Set off by me.
SHANE: No, set off by Gary Canning.
DIPI: Shane!
SHANE: I reckon we should have a think about talking to the cops again.
DIPI: No, please don't - it wasn't his fault. And Karl said I'm supposed to rest, okay?
No 28
Karl and Susan are talking about Dipi's scare, but Karl is keen for Susan to focus on the DPP meeting. At that moment, a picture of Finn as a child falls out of a book Susan has been reading on human development. Karl is annoyed.
SUSAN: It's one of Shaun's photos.
KARL: What's it doing here?
SUSAN: I took it out of the album before I gave it back to him.
KARL: Why would you do that?!
SUSAN: Karl, I know it's stupid, but I can't stop thinking about what he told us. Finn was... he was just a kid. And then this... this terrible thing happened.
KARL: You're assuming it wasn't all fabricated!
SUSAN: His family abandoned him. I believed Shaun; I think you did too.
KARL: Yeah, well, that may well be -
SUSAN: And it's just so dreadfully sad.
KARL: Darling, it's not our concern! Look, Toadie's only just managed to get a meeting with the DPP to discuss your charges. And you obsessing about Finn's past is just gonna muddy the waters here.
SUSAN: I'm not obsessing!
KARL: You're overthinking it. You need to focus on what's important here. And not just for yourself, but for everyone else as well.
Lassiter's Complex
Amy is filling in Paul and Jane on Gary's involvement in the theft of the solar inverters, explaining that his obsession with paying her back clouded his judgement.
PAUL: So, what? He was gonna steal from you to pay you back? God, that is Canning logic at its absolute finest, isn't it (!)
Amy explains Gary didn't know what he was delivering until it was too late, though concedes that doesn't absolve him.
AMY: Alright, you can say it now.
PAUL: I'm not gonna say anything... other than, are you okay?
AMY: ... Umm, I'm not sure.
Paul offers for her to move back into the Penthouse, but Amy says she's still sorting her head out. He says there's a room waiting for her if she needs it. Amy then tells Paul and Jane about Dipi...

Elly and Bea are chatting about Susan's DPP appointment. Liz waltzes in.
LIZ: Saint Susan will wrap them around her little finger!
Liz is keen to involve herself in Elly's wedding preparations, but Elly coldly tells her she's already got things covered. Liz suggests Bea could sing at the wedding; but Elly is sick of Liz's suggestions and more or less tells her to butt out.
LIZ: Right. So I should make myself scarce then?
ELLY: Do whatever you want.
Once Liz has skulked away, Elly tells Bea she does want her to sing at the wedding - she's just annoyed at Liz because she read her mail. Elly doesn't go into detail (about the card from Chloe), saying it involves someone else so she can't say anything, but just tells Bea that Liz 'did some damage' with the information she found.
ELLY: She has zero tact, zero awareness for anyone other than herself. I can't even stand to look at her right now, let alone talk about wedding dresses.
Erinsborough Hospital
Sonya and Toadie have turned up to see Dipi, and find Shane outside. They ask how he's holding up; Shane says he's been better, and it's clear he's very upset. So Sonya goes in to see Dipi, while Toadie chats to and comforts an emotional Shane.
TOADIE: It can be hard when your partner's in hospital. You do feel a bit useless, don't you?
SHANE: Yeah... She went in for the scan, and we were all joking about how we were gonna have to wait on her when she got home... And then we nearly lost her...
TOADIE: Yeah, but you didn't - and that's the main thing, okay? You're gonna drive yourself nuts if you focus on what could have happened.
Shane says Dipi shouldn't have been in hospital in the first place, and when Toadie says it was 'just one of those things', he replies...
SHANE: Nah. That's crap. She wouldn't be here if it weren't for Gary and his shady mates.
TOADIE: Gary didn't mean to hurt Dipi! He feels terrible about this, mate.
SHANE: Well, that doesn't mean squat to me.
Meanwhile, indoors, Sonya hands Dipi a phone that she found at the pavilion, and kisses Dipi goodbye, telling her to get some rest. Shane comes in just as Sonya leaves. Dipi explains how she felt when she was in cardiac arrest.
DIPI: I know it sounds cliché, but I saw a bright light, and... I was moving towards it.
SHANE: Seriously?
DIPI: Yeah. I had to force myself to turn away - fight my way back to my body. And I just woke up. I know it sounds silly...
SHANE: No, it doesn't. It doesn't.
DIPI: Maybe that's what the tarot card reading at Christmas was about.
SHANE: You don't think that could just be a coincidence?
DIPI: No... it's more than that. I predicted death, then I stared it in the face, and... overcame it.
SHANE: Right. So you think it could be a good thing?
DIPI: Mm-hm.
Shane kisses Dipi, evidently very relieved that she's okay.

Liz finds Bea playing her guitar, and begins to lay into her for not defending Liz before when Elly was being cold with her. Bea says she doesn't want to get involved.
LIZ: She was very rude!
BEA: She's upset!
LIZ: You'd think I'd sold her firstborn the way she was carrying on!
BEA: Alright - do you want my advice? Elly wants you to respect her privacy. Take the hint.
LIZ: Well, maybe I'm just trying to help out. After all, I am your mother (!)
BEA: Reading her mail isn't helping.
LIZ: She told you that?!
BEA: Not the details. And before you do - don't!
LIZ: She is gonna get herself into a whole -
BEA: What did I just say?! If Elly wanted you or me to know her business, she'd tell us!
LIZ: What a ridiculous thing to say, Beatrix! How am I supposed to help you girls if you refuse to let me know what's going on -
Liz notices that Bea is writing in a journal and has stopped listening to her, so flounces out...
LIZ: ... alone, as usual. Enjoy your day (!)
BEA: You too (!)
Lassiter's Complex
Paul and Jane run into Gary in the courtyard. Things are surprisingly civil; Paul asks Gary how Dipi is - Gary explains she's likely to be okay after a rough night.
GARY: Have you called the police?
PAUL: I thought about it. But it would cause too many issues for Amy.
GARY: Thanks, I appreciate it.
PAUL: Hopefully, this is gonna be a turning point for you, to start making some good choices.
Gary simply replies 'okay' and walks away. Jane remarks that Paul let him off easily.
PAUL: Well, life throws surprises at us, doesn't it?
Harold's Café
Liz turns up and joins Elly at a table, uninvited. Liz admits she could have handled the situation with Chloe better, and that she behaved inappropriately. Elly thanks her for saying that.
LIZ: But I feel really left out. You girls are determined to exclude me. It hurts, Elly.
ELLY: Oh, Mum -
LIZ: Well, no - you never tell me anything. And Bea? She seems more interested in that silly journal of hers than her own mother. And to think of the silly things she might be writing - no wonder my ears are burning!
ELLY: Yeah, because everything's always about you (!)
Liz looks put out.
Meanwhile, Gary approaches the counter and talks to Shane.
GARY: Look, I know you probably don't want a bar of me right now. But if there's anything I can do to help - here, with the girls, whatever... Mum too. She feels terrible about what happened.
SHANE: Sheila was involved in this?
GARY: No, no, mate, it's all on me.
SHANE: Of course she was. Why am I surprised?
GARY: No, I'm the bloody galah - no-one else.
SHANE: Get out, Gary. Get out, before I deck you.
Gary leaves warily, while Shane grimaces.
Erinsborough Hospital
Sheila is visiting Dipi, and offering to help out by doing some shifts at Harold's - but Dipi says she'll be out of hospital soon. Sheila's feeling guilty about what Gary did, and says it's the least that she can do.
DIPI: Gary's apologised, and I know he genuinely feels terrible.
Shane comes in, and rudely asks Sheila what she's doing there.
DIPI: She's come to see me.
SHANE: I don't want you, or your loser son, anywhere near my wife.
DIPI: Shane!
SHANE: Get out!
DIPI: That's enough, stop it.
SHEILA: No, no, love, it's okay. I'm leaving.
Sheila quickly exits.
DIPI: You had no right to speak to her that way!
SHANE: She knew everything that Gary was up to! She is just as responsible as he is.
DIPI: She's my friend!
SHANE: I don't care, Dipi - I can't have her near you! I just... I just can't!
Shane breaks down in tears.
SHANE: You almost died!
No 26
Gary whinges to Sheila about Shane having a go at him, despite his best efforts to make amends. But Sheila, having just received both barrels from Shane herself, is in no mood for Gary's self-pity.
SHEILA: Shut up, Gary! For once in your life, just shut up!
GARY: Are you alright?
SHEILA: No, I'm not alright! Nothing about this is alright!
GARY: Mum...
SHEILA: No! Shane just threw me out of Dipi's room at the hospital.
GARY: Mum, I'm sorry.
SHEILA: Sorry, are ya? Well, I'll tell you what I'm sorry about. You have dragged the Canning name through the mud again! And Xanthe and I won't be able to put our noses outside that door in months.
GARY: That's going a bit far!
SHEILA: Oh, is it? Is it really? You almost killed Dipi - you have lied to everybody who cares about you. You have robbed your own girlfriend, who lent you money! I have never been so ashamed of you in my entire life!
GARY: Yeah, I know I'm a screw-up! The best thing that's happened to me in ages is getting with Amy, and now that's stuffed too. Finn Kelly - he's responsible for all of this. He's the one who mowed down Xanthe, and -
SHEILA: Oh, stop it, Gary! Stop blaming everybody else for things that are your fault!
GARY: I'm just trying to explain...
SHEILA: No! No, Finn is a monster - but you made the choices, Gary. You!
She storms off.
No 28
Liz continues to whinge to Bea about Elly being mad at her. But Bea's unsympathetic and leaves the room, having had enough of Liz's moaning. Spying her chance, Liz then picks up Bea's journal from the table, and begins to flick through it. We hear Bea's voice as Liz reads her words.
BEA (voiceover): Sometimes I wonder why she ever decided to have kids. It's like she blames us for every bad thing that ever happened to her. The moment we don't fit into her vision, she loses interest in us. It's always about her, and how she feels about things. We never matter.
Liz looks upset as she reads.
Erinsborough Hospital
Gary turns up at Finn's hospital room, and peers through the door - but sees that Susan is already in there, looking pensive. They acknowledge each other, and Susan quickly leaves.
Shortly afterwards, Gary finds Susan in the waiting room, looking upset.
SUSAN: I went to see Finn again. I've done it a few times. I just... I'm trying to get past the anger and the grief, but I can't. Why were you there?
GARY: I honestly don't know. I was so worked up on the way over. My life's a mess, and it's all because of him.
SUSAN: Yeah, I know. I know the feeling. But Gary, if you're here to make trouble -
GARY: No, you don't have to worry. Somehow, seeing you in there snapped me out of it. You were in there too, so it's probably not a good idea either?
SUSAN: No. We need to forget about Finn. We need to just get on with our lives.
No 28
Liz is in the garden, continuing to read Bea's journal, which we can see contains more criticism of Liz, and praise of 'Saint' Susan.
Liz hears Elly shouting for Bea and, panicking, puts the journal into the pizza oven that the Kennedys have in the yard. Elly offers to make Liz some food, but she says she's not hungry and heads off for a walk - leaving the journal in the pizza oven so Elly doesn't see she's been reading it. Elly looks perplexed.
Erinsborough Hospital
Toadie enters the hospital and is furious to see Susan coming out.
TOADIE: I don't believe this. Karl called me. He said that security told him that you were here.
SUSAN: I... I went to see Finn. I'm so sorry.
TOADIE: Susan, you were charged with attempted murder! And you're at the victim's hospital room, to do what? Finish off what you started?
SUSAN: No, of course not!
TOADIE: Well, that's what they'll make it out to look like. Why would you visit him in hospital not once, but twice, if he's the monster that you've all been making him out to be?
SUSAN: Maybe they won't find out about it before tomorrow?
TOADIE: Well, I hope not. Because if they do, I'm not sure I can keep you out of jail.
Toadie walks away, angrily. Susan looks contrite.
